I just had to let you all know...
I have no experience with Android, and have never rooted anything before, but I rooted my Nook Color today. I spent days reading every forum post I could find, and everything over at nookdevs, and I have had no problems at all. Everything has worked perfectly, including the market. I am honestly amazed that things went so well on the my attempt.
..So, I had to thank everyone here for all the info you guys have put together, Between xda and nookdevs, a total noob like me was able to root the nook with no problems.
My husband is super jealous now, with his unrooted nook.
Again, thank you sooo much guys and gals!
That is excellent. Good work... Now tell the husband to root his Nook or maybe you should be nice and do it for him
hiyyyaaaaaa, ive just this minute flashed rcmix hd rom whhhhooooo.
i cant believe that i done it
and honestly its all down to the people that have helped and guided me over the last day and a half, they know who they are ;-)
ive asked countless questions bout flashing rom, radio s-off etc etc, and people have been well patient with me.
im new to android having come over from an iphone and only owning a galaxy s for a few weeks.
im so made up that i done it, its a great rom, and i even got my screen off animation that i wanted, it looks great.
so thanks to everyone that helped me, i really appreciate it cos without you lot it wouldve been impossible.
theres some good guides on here that if you follow to the step then all will be fine (hopefully).

Long time xda fan, first time poster. So, I have a bone stock AT&T Galaxy Note 3 N900AUCUEOC1 running lollipop 5.0. For about a year now I've been contemplating rooting it but I'm worried I'm gonna jack my phone up. Besides replacing my lcd screen I haven't done really too much with it. This will be my first attempt at rooting any phone and I wanted to ask a few questions to get some clarification and direction.
First, what currently is the easiest way to root a droid for someone that doesn't speak a lick of tech?
I've read 10 different ways but if anyone would know, its you guys. Does Kingo work with what I have?
What do I need to do prior to root? I.e, what do I need to download?
Also, could you recommend a decent ROM? Whats a good backup app that will actually work?
Lastly, I have a game ive been playing for a couple years and I dont sign in, it recognizes my phone or something, its on my sd card but will i lose it when I wipe my phone? Thanks in advance for your time.
Cassidy
I would never discourage some one from rooting their phone, however, you have chosen a hard place to start. You need to become familiar with odin, and /or safetrap. There are great instructions already posted, but unless you have a working knowledge of Odin, you are going to cause yourself a great deal of headache.
I suggest finding a friend who has done it, and have them walk you through it the first time.
By the way, I have been rooting Android phone since the original Motorola Droid. And I have this one rooted. But I not so easy for people new to the process.
Any way you go, I hope it works great for you!

Thanks for the concern. I used to be pretty smart. Ive watched and read a ton about odin and I guess people just make it look super easy. I've noticed theres a different variation for every model of droid so I gjust need to find the right one and figure out what to do before and after the video stopped. Im just hoping I can find some help here. Thanks again

Best I seen about Odin with a video http://www.samsungodindownload.com/odin-tutorial/ and this is the Odin I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3109599&d=1420980613 Once you think you're ready http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/help/att-note-3-lollipop-t3100657 and post #4 has all the links you need. You are Lollipop so you WILL need to do all four files (first picture shows, if you try the All-In-One you will have problems). I'm on here everyday so if you need any help post here or send a message. I don't mind helping and NO, you do not have to donate to me.
Thanks a bunch Rooted! Thats gonna simplify thing a bunch, I really hope. Im sure id be bricked right now if my girl didnt catch me getting ready to do it and beat me up, she bought it for me on my bday. Needless to say she didnt approve. Ha. Ill wait till tomorrow i think. But I appreciate your help, you're a good man.
I'm Super New to this whole *hands on* stuff goes. I mean , I've got the Tekno down pretty well, ....it's the getting into working with and getting all personal with my gadgets that I'm new too!! I tried a couple apk mods and found myself surprisingly pleased with myself. So with that said, you pretty much get the gist of things as far as where I'm sitting. But I'm all about learning new stuff, and from what I'm told....this is THE place to find all kinds of Stuff. I'm not completely sure where to go or what to do from here....but I've just got a brand new replacement s20 ultra, and I'm about to start setting it up. I would love any tips or cool tricks that anybody might wanna share. He'll, I'd be happy with a smile or somebody just saying hi! . Thanks for the Awsome welcome.... I look forward to seeing what comes next!
