Hello
I'm running the last P1000XWJMK firmware which seems to have a protected bootloader. I'm not very happy of this ROM.
I want to move to Overcome or downgrade my firmware.
I think i have to unsign my bootloader.
Can i use SGT6Bootloader-Patch to unsign my bootloader ?
Can i afterwards move to overcome ?
Thanks for your Help
Answers are here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
I've read this thread but i want to be sure before doing it.
It don't want to brick my SGT.
Thanks for your help
Just download the apk from the link, install it and run it on your gtab. The app first checks to see if your bootloader is actually locked and then provides you the options to follow from there ... you should be safe!
A good guide to follow would be the comprehensive guide provided under the overcome thread ... all the necessary information is provided there.

I had a lot of problems at first too.
The first step you need to do root it with super one click root.
Do a search in the forums. There are several tutorials that explain how to use it. It's really simple.
Using that programs getting the phone to root was easy. The problem I had was the flashing part and getting Odin to work for the first time to install clock work recovery.
Do you mind providing a link? I really need to know the step-by-step procedure and see the reliabilty.

1) download the latest 2.3.6 JW4 firmware (for GT-I9000) from sammobile.com. Also download ODIN and flashing guide.
2) For CF-root , following the instruction on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108.
If you don't want to upgrade to 2.36 then just follow link in the second step . That should have the instructions and the download link for your GB rom. Ensure that you pick the right tar file corresponding to your firmware version.
I am sorry but i am a little dumb and slow -.- I not quite get thr threadnposted by Chainfire, in which the link you provided. I am using a gingerbread 2.3.3 . So what am I supposed to do? Cos they say smth like CF-root Gingerbread (2.4 XXjvk or newer) . What does this actually means? And after that i couldn't get the whole chunk.

Depend on your phone version, you might need to follow the procedure given in the following website:

Then you can obtain CWM from:

Hi
I have just updated my Galaxy Note to the official ICS 4.0.3 update released by Samsung here in India.
The build number :IML74K.DDLP8
Baseband Version : N7000DDLP4
I just want to root my deivce, for now, I do not want to install any Roms. Looking to root just to add universal proxy support apps and freez all the crapy bloatware.
The instructions seems to be quite straight forward. I have just one question, will the above steps work even after upgrading to the official Indian ICS version.?
Please advice...this is my first time rooting any android phone ever.
Any suggestions on the above, will the root method function even after the update to official ICS

This method talks about flashing an already rooted kernel to the device. Is it safe to do that with the hard brick warning for ICS kernels out there?
Also the description says that this method will work for all GB versions. will it work for the official ICS update of Samsung India?
Hey guys, i installed Brightside Evolution Firmware a few days back, but it isn,t working well and wanted to revert back to the Original stock ROM of GalaxyS GTI9000. DDJ froyo, Which is the safest to get back my original firmware??????????

I think you just have to flash the old firmware with odin. Just search for a tutorial for the firmware you want. Maybe i misunderstood you.

Odin is not that dangerous :silly: You just have to look that you put the files on the right place and then just dont touch the phone while flashing. Then it is quite safe Just search for a tutorial.
Visit - Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 - Flashing to Original ROM : https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-flashing-to-original-rom.46/
You can try to flash TeamwinRecovery/CWM with stock recovery than you just copy the stockrom to your sd card an flash it with the TWR/CWM... Afterwards you just flash the stock recovery again with TWR/CWM and you've finished without odin I hope it really works for sgs, cause i've tested that only with sgs plus

Update on advice
Hi thanks for posting advice.
I've managed to unlock the phone by using a combination of
Rooting it with Unlock Root via pc
That gave me Superuser (upgraded to pro for £2)
BusyBox Free, Titanium backup Free needed also
Then I was able to use Galaxy S Unlock to save files to sdcard and unlock to any network.:victory:
Now does this mean I'm rooted and don't have to follow all the steps that the link above advices
no need if already got busybox installed

Thanks for comments, can I ask now its rooted do I need to install anything else to allow me to change the Rom's such as newer official ones or once others are raving about.
Thanks.
updating or changing ROM was easy method but deadly also, wrong move will come to brick fone. if u really hav thought it well, juz follow any instruction on xda regarding i9000 after confirming ur device version, backed up baseband, build number n etc involve.
n now u ll need cwm for flashing. find cwm to gain access to recovery n thats where u gonna flash ur custom ROM, but read a lot before doing it as here in Q & A section, many success, also failure posted here, so be sure to read first mate

Congratulations on accomplishing your unlock. Now you might be helped with a good, rich toolbox and clear guides
I'm referring you to some wonderful threads I've come across during similar quests of my own.
(It's all there; but asking the right questions and not seeing the wood for the trees will always remain tricky )

As to what ROM to choose, I seriously like to push my own (eventual) ROM of choice, Mackay ROM (Unless gaming on the phone is your thing, which might bring up desires and demands that other ROMs serve even better.)
Good luck!
