Hey guys. I have a problem: for some reason, my phone has stopped notifying me of texts. It neither vibrates nor chimes, regardless of whether it's on silent or not.
I went to my settings to see what's up, and vibrate is set to "always," and my notification tone is on don't Panic. Now here's the funny thing: you know how selecting the chime will preview it? It's not doing that at all, for any of them. Any ideas?
P.s. my volume's cranked, so it's not that.

Check your speaker?Play a song,or a video with sound and see if you hear anything? Is it just text or calls too?Try to change the calls ringtone and see what happens.

I'm actually listening to music right now. And, my phone ringtone works fine and vibrates when I get a call.

Sms app then make sure notifications is enabled. There might be a phone setting somewhere as well

Funny, I have the opposite problem. I receive text notifications, but my phone fails to ring a good portion of the time.

Yeah, notifications are enabled in SMS app.

Okay so I just noticed, when the phone is off and your received calls.. When you power it on, it doesn't tell you that you've missed a call or gotten a text.. Maybe bc im using tmobile?

I wouldn't expect it to tell you of a missed call unless they leave a voice mail and then you should get the notification about that but text messages should show up as normal when you switch the phone back on.
Oh that's dumb.. I usually got a message that says I missed calls on other phones.. Thanks though.

you should be getting a notification for a missed call on your notification bar. the symbol for it is a red check mark. Are you using a task killer? Task killers really screw up notifications on this phone. (even when used correctly)

Even when the phone is off? If the display is off yeah but I wouldn't expect it for missed calls when the phone is actually off.
if u mean screen off/sleep mode, u should get notifications. but if u say phone turned off completely, i won't expect it to show missed calls, unless the callers leaves some voicemail.
If u use ATK to auto kill tasks, make sure to exclude all system/phone related processes. That could be the culprit that auto clears ur notifications.
I have not had any phone that ever showed me missed calls when the phone was off (powered off). If it is asleep, then you should have a notification in the notification bar - the phone has to ring (audibly or visually) - so if the phone is out of service area, you won't get a missed call alert either.
Hi all
My note phone ringer will randomly go into silent mode not vibrate or ring the option in between so i never know if i get a call or text or anything. dont know why. I will have the ringer all the way up and then pick my phone up after about an hour and it will be in silent mode and ill have 2 missed calls and 7 text messages
It's really frustrating
I'm on stock ICS, and rooted.
I hope in settings in sounds you hav choose off for silent

Hello guys!
have a razr that stopped vibratin.
vibrating sometimes yes and sometimes no.
Anyone have any suggestions?
thanks
In assuming that your notification settings in calls, messages, email etc. are all set to vibrate when notified, is it hit-and-miss that your phone vibrates with the speaker on or is it just when you are using it in one of the silent modes?
I only ask because when I first got my RAZR it took me a while to figure out that in the silent modes it will only vibrate when it is actually set to “Vibrate” mode itself and not when in “Mute”, so it’s just a thought that you are not sometimes setting it inadvertently to “Mute” by mistake.
As an aside I use an app called “Vibration Notifier” from the Play Store. Essentially if you miss a message, email, call etc. you can set it to vibrate a pre-determined number of times to alert you to missed notifications. So for example, you can set it to vibrate every minute (or any other number of minutes you specify) up to a specified number of times until you turn the screen on. You can also set the length of the vibration which I find a Godsend as I find the RAZR’s default vibration pretty weedy, and you can also customise it to notify you of any other apps you may have which have a notification feature.
Thanks for help, but my phone is in vibration status... Sometimes vibration work and a feel time before, dont work more

I've noticed that my texts I get 2 short vibrates however for other notifications like Facebook, I get a long vibrate. Shouldn't it be the other way around? You can never even feel a text vibrate go off... I know on my note 2 and s3 it wasn't like this.
Also, even though I have vibrate turned off in most apps when they show a notification they still vibrate. What's with that? I had the same problem with the s4 when I first got it.

I've gotten the 2 short vibrates on texts for the S3, S4, and now Note 3. However, I am not sure about Facebook as I do not use that app. If you go to Settings > Device > Sound, you can change the vibration intensity for calls, notifications, and haptic feedback.

Thanks but it's not the intensity that I'm talking about. The vibration pattern just seems backwards or weird to me coming from the note 2. Basically every app gives a long vibrate except for texts which is kinda backwards.

Am I the only one who is having this issue? I don't think it's normal to receive a vibration every time I get a notification even if I have it turned off in the app settings.

Do you have your phone muted, but with vibration enabled? I've seen unexpected vibrations on my phone in that case - I think it may just replace any noise with vibration.

Have stock AT&T Note 3 and the ringtone will start ringing at random times. No matter how many apps or background processes I try to shut down it still continues to ring. Also, I have tried different ringtone but the issue still occurs. Not sure what is causing this. Anyone else experience this?
Only thing I can do is turn the ringtone value all the way down to off or vibrate (it does not vibrate like a normal incomomg call) or reboot the Note 3.

Okay hope this helps others. Using 'Notification History' App I was able to see that the 'Network Monitoring' App-Widget has a setting for a notification of lost signal. I had it checked and set to the default ringtone. By changing it to not notify me it cleared the seemingly random ringtone.
