Hey guys,
My problem is that, since I flashed my samsung i9003 (installing froyo 2.2.1 I9003XXKB3), all the apps related with camera (as barcode scanner, google goggles, layar, or other apps with augmented reality) doesn't work. When closed, a window shows up and says: "Sorry! The application Goggles (process com.google.android.apps.unveil) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
This happen with all the apps I told before (each one with its particular process), so, anyone knows any fix for this problem? Or anybody have the same problem?
Thank you!
My best guess is that before flashing you didn't factory reset & unrooted (if you had rooted).
I don't really know the fix but suggest that you 1st factory reset now & then flash again with XXKB3, it should sort out the problem if not do report back.
There are 4 users who have updated to xxkb3 but none have this problem.
Ok, thanks man, I'll so it and let you know what happened. Thanks for the help anyways!

is it a stock firmware or a custom one??
A some point I was on a stock firmware and played with the email (basically removed it) and had the exact same problem (if it is not force close the screen is black).
there are few threads in here about that problem with a fix, search for: no email camera

Hey Man, thank you!! I reset and everything works well. I wanna thank sgsI9003 too, cause removing the e-mail app could cause the problem. Now I didn't removed and I'm not goinna try.
Thank you!

Before doing complete wipe, try resetting camera to defaults (menu->setting->applications->manage applications->camera->clear data)
It will basically perform a wipe for your camera only without touching any other settings.
Good luck
Done and done, ive also installed RC7 still no joy, altho i am now getting a black screen sometimes and others it force closes
Possibley the camera it self maybe?
Cheers
Do you have your apps on SD? You may have to reformat your ext2/3/4 partition. If that doesn't help - it's a hardware issue.
Unless.... Do you have any programs that utilize camera (barcode scanner, symmcam, whatever else?) they may be wrecking the chaos. Uninstall?
Good luck
Hello peeps,
First of all, sorry if this question is in the wrong place. But, I've come across this peculiar problem on my SGS. Whenever I open my Gallery it ends unexpectedly. I have upgraded my firmware from JG5 (stock) to JM2 revcently and the problem appeared like yesterday.
I have tried clearing the cache, deleting the cooliris data from Android folder and restarted the phone, nothing solves the issue.
When I open the gallery I see folders, but the photos appear slowly and I get this message which says:
"Sorry!, The application Gallery (process.com.cooliris.media) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
and I am forced to Force Close it.
is there any fix to this and any info on how did it happen? (I recenlty installed Nemo Player and uninstalled it).
any input will be appreciated.
Same problem..
I also installed nemo player (still installed), didn't think that could be the problem.
Maybe you should delete the gallery apk and try reinstall it? Didn't work for me but then again i have nemo player still installed (if thats the cause..)
I suspect something goes wrong with the galleries thumbnail cache or something...

so i just flashed again .. and did the lag fix.. and now the problem dosent show...
i guess its some kind of a combination of a certain firmware with certain lag fix with clockwork recovery..(i came to this conclusion cozz everyone dosenot have this problem) thats my guess... but i m not 100% sure if that is what causing the problem...
after i rooted the phone and install lagfix 2.1.2 i found today that camera won't take pictures, the software starts, i can record video files , but when i press the take picture button the message cam out ''camera failed'' and after i press OK the software closes immediate.
Any help, i tried to found some info on forum and i tried to google it, but nothing yet.
i don't know what to try to fix this camera...for sure is something wrong with saving files, because for video is used the same camera and video is working fine, i can record etc...but when i start the camera everything is working, zoom, everything is o.k. but when i press take picture button, the camera give the error and it closes the program but it creates a picture file, but is all black...

Have you tried uninstalling lag fix to see if the problem goes away ?
no, i will try now.
no lagfix is not the problem.
I uninstall it and the camera still won't make pictures...
For sure was when i rooted the phone...
maybe some kind of permission..
Thank you for suggestion, what now?
Kikan
If you have an external SD card, in camera settings, try change the store location to the sdcard and take a picture, and then change it back. It has fixed the problem for me before, although I had the problem in the camcorder mode! Some kind of glitch in the camera app, I guess.
This isn't really Android dev, should be over in the Q&A forum or something or other.

It could be hardware problem.
I once experienced something similar to this and no matter what firmware i flashed the problem persisted so i sent it to Samsung SVC centre and they pretty much fixed it, stating that they had replaced the camera module.
i don't have external sd card...
Interesting is that camera i sworking and video is working too, but i can record but i can't take pictures...
Hope that is not hardware problem...
i called to samsung service, and the gay there told me, that is probably something wrong with application, that maybe is there some apps, that are running in the background and this stops camera to make pictures.
first i will buy sd card and test, after
I don't want to change the rom before official release, just to test if camera will work...
I'm thinking that maybe i can uninstall all apps that a downloaded...
it's very strange that nobody had same problem...
The best thing you can do, if you accept loosing all your data, is to go in recovery mode and do a factory reset. If the problem persist after that it means that you have a hardware problem. Good luck
do i have to uninstall lagfix and unroot the phone?
i did recovery and factory reset, but camera still don't work...
I found out that doing factory reset will not delete sdcard files and i still have superuser apps installed and when i tried to install lagfix, i receive one error...so is not completely factory reset.
maybe something happen when i root the phone?
is there one way to completely remove all thing and reinstall all stuff? Just to see if i can solve camera issue...
i would like a fast and stable frojo release...
Thank
Kikan
i did a mess...
i didn0t uninstall lagfix before doing factory reset and now i think that i will go to samsung service...
i spoke with them today i and they are putting JP5 firmware now in all SGS...he thinks that firmware update can solve my camera problem...
i sow that is maybe batter to flash the JP6 firmware? Is this the stable frojo version?
thank you a lot
i solve my camera problem....
i use rom manager and Doc's Rom last jpm firmware version...
Thank you all for help me....
kikan
Sorry to ressurect an old thread.
But I'm currently experiencing this problem with the latest official release of Froyo. I've 2 Galaxy S phones here, both that I've setup, except only 1 seems to have the majority of problems.
I'm experiencing the same issues as above. Front facing camera shoots/saves, and so does the Video using the back camera. Saving pictures using the back camera fails with a simple 'camera failed' message and a broken invalid image file.
I'd like to keep my official froyo version without flashing another firmware. Strange that my other phone has none of these issues, yet is running the same firmware.
Anyone have any sort of idea what's going on or how I can solve this? Much thanks is appreciated.
I can't seem to post the screen capture. but if you want to take a look

Hi guys.
I have a g900a from AT&T. The phone was working perfectly until recently. Now the main camera fails again and again.
The flash works, and the secondary camera works as well. I tried factory reset, clear app cache, etc. Nothing works.
If the flash is working, does it mean the camera it might still be working and it is just a software problem? As I recall, I didn't install anything weird to **** up my camera. And even if I did, factory reset would have solved it, yes?
I have no clue what is the problem or how to fix it. Please help.
Thank you!

You can delete this post. I found out that I'm not the only one with this issue, an entire planet has...
I seem to have a problem with my camera after the update, I can not open the setting for the camera, it self closes as fast as it opens. Does anyone else have this problem?
Go ibto apps and clear the settings, defaults and cache for the camera
works fine on mine. Last resort would be factory reset, but maybe you could try go to settings/apps/camera click on storage and clear cache and data?
Thanks for the suggestion, I tried this and it did not fix my issue. I was hoping that I would not have to do a hard reset!

I have the same problem. It started yesterday. I tried the Safe Mode, Cache delete and the Factory reset, none of this worked. The camera app is still crashing.
I'm going today to the Verizon store, I hope I can get a replacement.
Did you resolve this issue ?
I had to do a factory reset to fix the camera. This worked for me. I would suggest trying it again.
Hope this helps
Rick
Random questions:
1) Do you have a memory card installed?
2) Did your memory card come from a previously encrypted Samsung device?
I'm only asking because I had the EXACT same issue, and it led to slow-downs too.
The card ended up being corrupt, and I had to get a new one: problem solved for me.
Just a thought.

Yes, I have a SD installed. I just removed the SD and performed a Factory reset again. Still not working. :crying:
Thank you anyway for the advice.
Did you ever get this fixed?
Mine is not working after the Oreo update.
