Brutal day yesterday - Off-topic

So I desided it was a good day to flash to stable cm7. But as my phone had a specific problem nobody else has I first restored my original nandroid backup, back to sense. Then realised I didn't do a recent backup in titanium backup, so restored that backup, did a backup, then restored back to my original. Did a factory reset, cleared cache/dalvik, flashed cm7, g-apps, fixed permissions, rebooted. All seemed well. Everything was working except GPS. So I also desided to change my SD card to my new 32G. A few hours later I was at work, and checked my phone, NO INTERNET, gaahhhh. Went to SMS a friend to see if she had internet. Realised Google account didn't restore my contacts. No internet=no restoring then went to do a nandroid restore, and found out that clockwork mod recovery goes away after a factory reset(after I thought about it I realised I didn't even have my backups anyways...new SD card) So there I was stuck at work, with a basicly broken phone, and I was kinda stressed about it. Had to wait 5 hours before I could even get to my computer to fix it. I can't believe I freaked out so much over it.... Hi, my names Justin and I am addicted to my Smartphone.
Edit: BTW, not really sure why I wrote this long ass ramble/rant. But whatever at least my phone is awesome once more

Irritating Market issue

I received my phone back a few days ago and I instantly flashed Cyan 5.0.6 test 3.
However I have a really annoying issue where my Market isn't quite 'correct'.
It seems to be missing the 'top paid' tab.
It also takes an age to load the info for any app I click on and the status stays at 'installing' even though it is installed and it will only refresh when I reboot.
I have tried to restore the backed up propriety apps, nandroid backup and restore, flashed a stock rom, flashed cyan 5.0.1
But NOTHING works.
I know the slow market is related to the missing tab, it's like half of the market app hasn't loaded properly.
I had this issue before my phone went off for repair and one day it fixed (I don't know how) but as soon as it did, it performed as it should and it took seconds to load app data and install, it also stated the app was installed.
I suppose what I'm looking for is HOW can I completely reload the Market from scratch?
Thanks guys.
J
Wow that is so weird... I assume you do wipe/cache/dalvik before flashing a ROM right? Have you tried cyan 5.0.6 yet? If not, give it a try, do the wipe before flash of course, and hope that works... Also, do you have a backup app? like titanium back up or back up pro? Did you set it to auto restore perhaps? Probably just a bad market back up? Thats all I can think about... If it doesnt work, then its beyond me brother

Hi Man,
I know it's really bugging me.
I've tried everything including wiping the Dalvik and normal cache.
I think I might try Enomer's ROM to see if that solves it but I can only tether at the moment as we've moved house and I won't have BB back for 2 weeks.
I have Titanium pro installed as I have over 400 apps on my phone!
Hey bro,
Apparently there have been a few reports about the same issue with the market, probably has something to do with the market update. Anyway, try uninstalling the market via titanium if you can that is. And reinstall. Nandroid before doing it.

Messed something up

So the other day i flashed the leaked version of froyo 2.2 to my captivate. Everything went fine and used it all day today. Well i wanted to recover my lost apps so i rooted it using the z4 root app. I tried to do a temp root first but the phone sat there for a while and didnt seem to be moving along with the process so i hit back and retried the permanent root option this time and just let it sit there. It got done with the rooting process and everything seemed to be fine. I opend titanium back up and tried to restore my previous back up from my rooted 2.1 phone. It wouldnt load the apps but i believe it loaded all the settings. It was saying they were 3rd party apps even though they came from the market. No big deal. I just lookked at the list and redownloaded the ones i wanted and restored the app settings individually. Got done with that and everything was working perfectly....until i shut the phone off and turned it back on. A messsage saying "android.phone stopped working...force close something or other" it would do that i hit close, the phone would vibrate a few times and it would pop back up. This made the phone unusable. But i decided id take the sim card out and turn it back on and everything is working fine. Im actually posting from the phone right now via wifi. Sorry to make this so long but i wanted to try and be as detailed as possible. Someone please help me out!

It sounds like you restored system settings from Titanium Backup. Don't do that. It will cause a whole gang of fc's (including the one you saw, android.phone has stopped unexpectedly). Only restore your apps and app data from titanium backup. When you restore system data from TiBu, you usually have to reflash the rom to stop things from fc'ing.

Thays what i was kind of assuming. So i just have to redo the same process i did to flash 2.2 in the first place right?

Well mostly the same, all except the part about restoring the wrong data. Just do missing apps this time.

[Q] Laggy/Sluggish Response

Ok. I'm rooted, running decrapified 1.1 My issue right now (one of 3) is that some times, ok a lot of times, I'll try to click an icon, or activate the phone or whatever and it will take a long time before anything happens. By long time, I mean at least 30 - 45 seconds. This is my second REVO, so I'm wondering if its just a device thing or if I have something that is jacking my system. I have restored apps via Titanium, but never system data. I'm at a loss here, and while its past time to return my phone, it, along with the other two major issues is getting to be a major pain in the arse.
Any thoughts anyone? Could something that I backed up in Titanium have a corrupt file or something?
I truly appreciate any and all help.
Thanks All
Here's something quick to try:
make a nandroid backup of your phone through Clockwork
from within clockwork, wipe data
reboot your phone and use the phone without restoring your data (link your market account, and sync your apps from market + contacts, but don't restore any backups)
If the phone works fine after that, it was just simply a data corruption issue. I've had that happen MANY times on my tester Revo.. things would just get wonky on it.
If the phone is still having problems after wiping data, come to the #lgrevolution IRC channel on freenode, I can help you on there.

Thanks TheCubed!! I figured that would fix things, but it always helps to have a back up opinion. You are spot on. So far so good. I've deleted all old titanium backups so I don't run into this problem again..

[Q] Upgraded to CM11 - want my Contacts and Messages back

I upgraded my S3 Mini from stock 4.1.2 to CyanogenMod 11. Thinking I was clever, I took a full backup of everything with both Titanium Pro as well as Online Nandroid Backup before flashing CM11.
Only... it looks like I wasn't so clever after all.
If I use Titanium to restore the Contacts Data only then the Contacts application crashes on launch, every time. Some reading suggests that Titanium doesn't always work nicely with system functions, and Contacts is considered a system function. To be fair to Titanium, it warned me before doing the restore that the backup was from a different ROM and might not work.
My contacts weren't synchronised with my Google account so I can't restore from there.
Is there any way to get the Contacts and Messages data restored? Are there third-party programs (for any of Android, Windows, Linux, or OS X, all of which I have available) which can read Titanium backups and export the data in a format that CM11 can use?
You can use this app. I use it on cm11 without any problem at all.
I tried that program, but I can't get it to import from the Titanium backup files. Perhaps I'm missing something in the options, but all I can see there is to transfer data between the phone, the SIM, Google, and Excel.
However, it looks like a useful program for the future, to save me this sort of headache the next time I mess about with phone ROMs; thanks for the suggestion.
Well, I'm getting somewhere, and this is something to keep my occupied on Christmas Day morning while waiting for the rest of the house to wake up...
I went back through Titanium's support documentation again and found something I'd missed earlier: the program has an option to "migrate system data", which is recommended when restoring to a different ROM.
I've got my messages and contact groups back, but I still don't have the individual contacts back. But, progress is progress, and I'll keep plugging away at it.
Worst case scenario, I'll just re-enter them all by hand but I'd rather avoid that if possible.
Reverting back to the pre-rooted stock 4.1.2 firmware from this forum, in the hope that Titanium would happily restore everything without needing the "migrate system data" option didn't work, sadly. The phone got stuck in a boot loop, and reflashing the PARAM file didn't fix it. So, it looks like I'm stuck with CM11. Serves me right for jumping straight in with both feet; no-one else to blame but myself.
However, it looks like the Titanium backup is in SQLite format, so all is not lost. I've managed to dump the data table successfully, so all I need to do now is parse it for importing. But that can wait for another day, as the rest of the house has finally woken up and it's time for breakfast and presents.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Well, I persevered and finally got the 4.1.2 rooted stock ROM back on the phone without it becoming stuck in a boot loop. Titanium was able to restore my contacts and messages successfully. Now to investigate a more sensible synchronisation/backup tool before messing with a custom ROM again, perhaps Phosimgo mentioned in the first reply.

Seriously!?
I backed up all of my stuff with TitaniumBackUpPro and flashed from 4.1.2. to CM 11 and can't get my contacts restored either.
Your telling me in need to flash back to stock and export my contacts with a different app before flashing CM again?
How is that tool Phosimgo recomended?
I ended up using Super Backup. It worked flawlessly. For the future, my contacts are now backed up to my Google account.

Help Restore Nandroid with Titanium Backup Pro

so the other day, my mother lost her phone in a parking lot and the phone was never turned in, but luckily I had made a backup of her phone with clockworkmod and kept it all on my computer just in case. Now, I got my brother to give her his old phone (One M7) to her, new sim set up, fresh rom installed (insertcoin lollipop) and all thats left now is restoring data.
I had purchased TiBu Pro a few years ago so I signed into google with my account and downloaded it. Then I copied the cwm backup to the phone. When I go to restore from nandroid in TiBu, nothing comes up. I went to check the backup location, but it wont let me pick and folder except the titanium backup folder in the root. Also, when I hit the scan for backup button, it says it found none, even if I tell it to scan the whole phone.
I ran into this problem about a year ago with another phone and got past it, but I don't remember how. I'll keep searching google for the meantime.
