Please use this thread for General Discussion and Q&A. To much clutter is happening in the main thread and bug reports are being missed.
There probably wont be to much dev activity in this thread, this is more for the general users.
I have to say....this lends great (new) life to the nook color. It is smooth and quick. Better then any GB or ICS ROM I have tried. Deep sleep works, and it reconnects to wifi when it wakes up.
I also kinda like one of the bugs. The N button won't wake the Nook from a deep sleep. I have on a number of occasions killed the battery when the N button gets pushed as my NC is carried in a bag.
Not sure if I was a part of the thread derail so reposting here:
Seeing what people mean by slow charging. I usually plug in via a power strip, now giving a direct connection to see if this makes a difference because I seem to recall this being the cause of a similar issue in the past. Will report if makes any difference...
UPDATE: Plugging directly seems to be working a little faster than trying to charge from the power strip. Can anyone else who felt the charging was slow confirm whether directly plugging in to the power outlet makes a difference for them?
Sent from my HTC One V using Tapatalk 2
I was plugged directly into wall.. no power strips.. It charged slow.
Maybe it was just me then? All I know if until I went direct, it wasn't even charging for me at all. I have stock plug and cord.

can't play any video
Guys, I feel like I'm missing something stupid but I can't play any video. I installed "Google Play Movies and TV" and MX Player and even the MX Player Arm7 Codec plugin. No videos play. If i go to "Personal Videos" in the "Google Play Movies and TV" app and click on a video I could previously play it brings up a dialog asking me which app I'd like to play the video in, "MX Player" or "Gallery Video Player" and doesn't just play it. GTA III doesn't work either which I suspect is related. Is this related to the lack of OpenGL that makes Chrome not work? Doesn't seem like anybody else is having the problem. Almost seems like I don't have some basic video driver not installed. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been playing AVIs and WMVs from my SD card, and they look great using MX Player Pro with the ARM 7 NEON codec.
Maybe you should try opening the videos directly from MX Player.
I actually tried to play with MX Player but nothing going, then checked the settings a bit more thoroughly. Apparently neither SW or HW decoding is enabled by default. Seems a bizarre choice of defaults but also seems that the Nook Color should have some sort of native ability to play these files (participialy the MP4 ones). In my googling to fix this problem I read that there actually is no way to HW decode play (don't' think i'm using those terms correctly) MKV files and that SW decoding will have to be used and it'll be laggy, which it appears to be. So looks like I'll have to re-encode some videos before my trip tomorrow. Still seems like something is off with my install and still contemplating moving back to CM9 stable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also, may want to try the VLC Nightlies if your standard players aren't working for you. It has magic in the juju.
Does the build support USB OTG yet, as I kinda have this keyboard case for a seven inch tablet I want to try.

There were no issues charging my HTC One V on the same strip, or my NookColor once I made my nandroid and went back to CM7. Soooo.... What changed? The software on the Nook.

Yeah something is up with the charging. Its taking like 2-3x as long to charge on AC. Takes hours to charge now. I can deal with it im just not used to having to be mindful of the battery. w/e got cm10
I know it is an over asked question. But I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on it. Please don't hurt me.
Netflix.
What is exactly holding back CM9/10 from getting this app working? CM7 is flying and Netflix works perfectly. I know we needed hardware acceleration, but that seems to be working again so I'm curious why Netflix is still not working. Is there some bug with just this app? Is there a bug with hardware acceleration?
Are developers just not interested in the app so work isn't done to get it working? I flashed back to CM7 after being on CM9 for far too long hoping it would be just around the corner but it never came. So I'm curious if Netflix is a possibility at all or is it just wishful thinking?
I don't mean to be an entitled newb by any means. I just want to set my own expectations. If it's never going to come, then just tell me and I can put my little mind to rest and be happy with CM7.
Thanks for not killing me.
It was fixed and then some other fix broke the fix. I believe its just waiting on a fix for the fix to be pushed to fix it.
Anyway, I've used PlayOn or Plex to play Netflix on just about any device indirectly, this shouldn't be any different to use as an intermediary. Still kinda want the usb keyboard to work, is there a patchable fix or something I can do to the source?

I forgot about PlayOn and I have a lifetime subscription. Does it play well on CM10?
Ok - I have been using mod7 for a while. When they got accellerated video playback working - (seeing the beta 1) I thought I would give it a try.
Wow.
Very nice.
But - I do get SOD (what does that stand for? Screen of death?) (when it goes into sleep - it rarely comes out... - using both the volume and n button.)
But - my main issue is youtube doesn't play. I get a blank video - it almost seems like the video has 0 lenght. You hit play - it doesn't do anything. If you go to full screen - it pauses 'loading video' then flashes back to the windowed player screen. I installed adobe flash from instructions here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336
and still no go. I also reset the machine to factory defaults..
what am I missing?
thanks
sam
Sam, try to deactivate the HD video option.
Thanks - Do you mean the HQ button on the lower right of the video? If so - I disabled it with no effect. Are you talking of something else?
thanks

So, we've heard and seen about the IR and remote controller function, but I didn't exactly understand it. Is it going to work with only smart TVs? I mean can we just use it as a normal, universal remote controller?

I don't think it is a small feature. That means that with the Right soft (understand app) you can virtually have the equivalent to a harmony universal remote control to master all your IR devices such as TV bluray home theater. I have an harmony and its awesome. Getting old though.

AW: [Q] HTC One Remote Controller function
Already tested it and it works fine.
For most devices there are preconfigired setups. If your device is not listed, you can "teach" the phone by holding original remote to the power button and by pressing any button on remote.
Sadly the set of buttons is limited (only most common buttons available)

Bigger hint: The App is called "TV" in the App drawer!
Have to say i'm quite impressed with it, i thought it was just a bit gimmicky but after trying it out it's quite good.
My 8 year old son was very impressed with it...."woah mum, dad's phone can turn the TV over!"......the wife wasn't impressed at all
Can't wait to get back to work in a few weeks and start p***ing the lads in the canteen off by turning the TV over!
Great thing is, that SGS4 also have IR sensor.
So we can expect some nice apps in near future and another devices with such functionality.
Back to the roots, earlier each phone had IR (ok not same like now)
Oh my. This feature is epic.
For Virgin Media users dont select your cable box as Tivo, it doesn't work select Virgin Media in the option.
Its Epic. EPIC EPIC.
I can't get it to work with my Sharp tv. The auto setup fails and when I try to get it to learn from my existing remote it will learn some buttons but not others. So I can mute the tv, but not unmute it. None of the numbers work, but the volume controls do.
Has anyone got any ideas? Would be awesome to get it all up and running.

You can try to teach your phone from a universal remote that works on our TV.
Well the -Vol button on my Denon DAB Hi-Fi remote in my office has just died so this new phone can't come at a better time.

Hello, HTC One lovers!
I have a problem connecting my HTC One (rooted) to Dell U2412M via HDMI to DVI adapter.
The monitor's max resolution is 1920x1200 but when my HTC One is connected, it only goes to 640x480 and I can't seem to change it. I've done some research and it might be because of the HDMI to DVI connection... but still not sure. :crying:
Does anyone have a similar problem? Thanks!
dell monitor
i have the same dell monitor and phone, i plugged my laptop into the monitor the other day which has 720p resolution and thats what came up on the monitor with the same hdmi to dvi adapter setup as you, the hdmi adapter thing for the htc one is hit and miss, it works for some and not for others, i had problems connecting to my sam tv to, so i got the htc media link and that brings through the max resolution as the htc one 1080p screen, i think it is htc forcing people to get the media link for the phone to work in that way, you could try something like i did with a laptop or some device to see if its the phone(most likely), the 640x480 res is a bit weird though hope this helps!
Hmmm... thanks for the insight, friend.
I will try my xbox later and see how that comes out. If it comes out as HD, then it's the HTC One's problem... that means I have no choice but to get the media link. I'll let you know.

ya xbox would do, the media link does work very good, if you did go down that road of getting one there are two different models of the media link
(watch out). the new one is specially optimised for sense 5.0 and landscape view for the htc one, just a heads up for ya! the htc media link hd dg h300 is the one to go for not the dg h200!

There are 2 kinds? What's the difference between the H200 and H300? Thanks for the tip!
Okay, so I've tried the xbox... when I plugged it in thru the HDMI - DVI port, the res was still at 640. But you can change the resolution on the Xbox... so I did. I guess that doesn't count since I can't really change the res of the HTC One.
Does that mean I'm left with getting the HTC Medialink?

Yeah, the xbox is getting 1080 because you can change the screen resolution settings on the xbox. Since you can't change it on the HTC One, I'm just getting 640x480 on the Dell screen. So I guess there's no hope... all I can do now is get the H300 for the Dell. More expenses!

You see, I can use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with the One. All I need is a nice big screen... but I can't even get that with this blasted DELL! And yeah... my Dell's displayport is not functional... just like a lot of other Dell monitors out there (I checked).

You two made me do a spit take! LOL
Most Power off CEC happens only when a device that is connected shuts off....
Otherwise it really has no idea if it is really done doing whatever it is supposed to do. Imagine a TV shutting off because it thought it was done as opposed to you just answering a phone....
So it usually has to sense a loss of power to take the Power Off CEC command and since the Chromecast never really shuts off there is no way for the TV to determine if the stream just ended or if your just looking for something else to stream.
Perhaps a button in the Cast menu could trigger a shut off command or an added Stop Casting and Power Down option could trigger it.
But CEC usually goes by a drop in Power or Loss of Device on the CEC Network..Neither of which ever happens with the CCast.

LOL the only Pushbutton when me and you grew up was the Knob that you would pull/push to turn the TV on/off and turn to change the volume!
Back in the days where you not only had to turn the knob to the Channel you wanted but had to FINE TUNE it and play with the Antenna for 10 Minutes to get a clear picture!
And they call it the good ol days! LOL
I have CEC disabled and it still keeps my TV on. That is really frustrating.
