Hi, I just recently purchased an HTC IS. This is my first android phone and was wondering is there a way to using T-Mobile's wifi calling app on the IS?
I was able to download the app and but it didn't seem to work so I was wondering if it is even possible at the moment. I know that some devices need to be rooted in order to use wifi calling (such as the Nexus One) and seeing as how the IS is currently unable to be rooted, does that mean that wifi calling isn't possible on the IS?
I'm fairly new to Android so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you flash the newest ROM and are you a tmo custy or an at&t custy? BTW... if you read through the entire 3.2 post you'd have found the solution to your problems was setting the APN under Wireless and Networks.

Did that get fixed? I heard people were still having apn issues even after manually setting them. Guess I'm off to wade through that thread!
I am with T-Mobile and I did this last night using the 3.2 post nothing more and the phone was already root with the 2.2.2 upate.
I looked over the APN post but doesnt really explain lot or give details. I know T-Mobile has 3 APN's that they use so maybe I should call them and get the information for all 3 ? I am assuming one is for MMS and the other two are phone/Data ?
Can you text with this device? I have never been able to... Not without some kind of program like Gvoice or something.

Hello Everyone,
Here's my problem, I managed to unlock the phone by rooting it and then using terminal emulator.
Call and text works fine but the mobile data don't go above GSM (not even EDGE) which basically means I can't use any apps that requires connection.
Did anyone have that problem?
I live abroad (Europe) does it matters?
Please can someone help?

More information......
What provider are you using in Europe? Have you gone through the unlocking process for not only GSM use but also international(they aren't the same)? Why would you buy a SPRINT phone for use in Europe??? An ATT ONE would have been a much better choice for use abroad. Or with one....snicker,snicker
I'm using NRJmobile.
As for the process I went through, its the one described in this guide and then the configuration for the APN but apparantly not the second one you were taking about.

I'm a noob regarding this so try to do the best I can following different guide but now I'm stuck.
Why did I chose Sprint? Because I didn't do enough research before buying (I had a good deal on ebay and I took it). Looking back on it that was stupid of me.
Can you tell me about that international unlock?
I cannot use the Mobile Hotspot function to the internet after my droid turbo upgraded to 5.1 Lolipop.
My PC always show no internet access. I have tried the factory reset but still cannot fix the problem.
Does anyone have same issue???
Thanks
Do you have tethering as part of your plan? Android 5.1 has a built-in check for that.

Assuming your response was that: you are on a plan without mobile hotspot/tethering allowed.
AFAIK there isnt a way to activate it on stock 5.1 and there is no way to turn that built-in check off.
Unless you find a way to root the 5.1 Droid Turbo. Which, by all means, find that way and you'll make a lot of people happy.
Sooo there also isn't a known way to go back to 4.4.4 (which has various root options).... and here's the big band-aid rip...
You cannot achieve what you want with the phone you have running the operating system version it's on with the non-mobile hotspot plan.
Find a way to get a 4.4.4 Turbo so you can root it (sounds like a challenge being overseas) or just hope that someone finds a new hole in the Verizon/Moto/5.1 security.
EDIT:
If you never modified your Turbo while on 4.4.4 and were able to tether, even though its not apart of your plan... then I have no clue how you did what you did/what to tell you now.
Also my knowledge extends to the "Verizon Droid Turbo"... the "local sim" means I may have written all of this for nothing.

Thanks. Because the wifi hotspot is worked for the same sim card during android 4.4.4. Just doesn't work after i upgraded.
I use my Droid Turbo in Mexico with Telcel. My Hotspot worked before and after the 5.1 Update. One thing I do remember is that it didn't work right after the update. For maybe the first 6 hours the option for Hotspot was greyed out and I could not move the slider. The next day for whatever reason, it worked and continues to work just fine.
Hope that helps,
Chad

Hi all,
I am rooted and running Clean ROM. I have not been able to use Advanced Calling on OC3 or OE2 basebands. I called Verizon to figure out why it wasn't working and the tech guy saw via his computer that I was rooted and pointed out that this was the issue even though I had it activated on all my lines.
So, is this seriously a root issue cause it seems non-root people are having issues too. Does anyone have it working on Clean Rom or any other Rom available at the moment?
Thanks!
Well if anyone reads this, I was able to get it working on Trailblazer101 ROM with OE2. I still would like to use it on CleanROM if anyone knows how to make that happen.
Bump... same issue

Go to mobile networks in settings and make sure you are not in global mode. If you are, you need to switch it to LTE/CDMA
I just moved to Australia from India and I won't get VoLTE on my device. I scoured through the forums and I don't see a solution other than rooting. I can't root my device as it is my primary and I need to continue using my banking apps.
I checked with Optus and they support VoLTE. I verified the same with my friends. It works fine on their devices.
I get the option for wifi calling but I don't get the feature to work. (I have it on in the settings)
Can someone tell me if there is a way to get it work oither than rooting?

No, to enable VoLTE you MUST have root access, such a shame for OnePlus!!
Check my signature to find the guide thread link.
Thanks brother. Appreciate your reply. I don't think I can root my device. Just going to use it for as long as I can and then switch to something better.
Have been using since oneplus one and had 6 devices but long for Oneplus.

Our device name is OPPO 10 Pro
The only reason to having root access for me is VoLTE
