Am I the only one seeing that the search for update has gone from faulty, to "you already have the latest" ?
Running RomKitchen V1.6 by the way....
No I've seen this too
I'm running unrooted and saw this message after a hard reset (don't know if that what did it but I noticed it after)
Also my Next search for update has changed from nothing (can't remember what but wasn't a date) to 21/05/2011

So I bought a Nexus One on craigslist. I thought it was all stock until I ran into the "cannot establish reliable sever connection" when I tried to sign into my google account. My question is how do I restore my phone back to the newest version of android 2.2. It is not unlocked (no unlocked padlock on boot screen). Under "Build number" it says "passion-userdebug Froyo FRE74 28579 test-keys." Under Android version it says "Froyo" instead of 2.2. And many of the 2.2 features are not present such as wifi tethering, and the new icons at the bottom center of the home screen aren't there. I only have the single grid icon and not the set of 3 with the browser and phone. And i'm not sure where to go from here. I want to be able to log into my gmail account and the android marketplace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Assuming you verified you have Data Connection enabled and have the proper APN settings::::
Your seller may have rooted the phone without necessarily unlocking the bootloader. see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=710842
Also, the link I just added shows the different versions of 2.2 (missing a couple) but FRE74 doesn't look like one of them.
First find out if it is a rooted phone, Check the app drawer for any SuperUser or Spareparts icon. That or try installing Busybox from the marketplace and executing it.
If it is rooted, flash one of the many ROMS available on XDA, Cyanogen just released his beta version tonight. Personally I use Enomther Rom. Official version is out.
And BTW, read up on the process of flashing... most require you to wipe first.
and if it is not rooted....
All you need to do is do a Factory Reset
Settings / Privacy / Factory Data Reset
After that check what your Build number is.
Then you can go to your dialler and enter
*#*#checkin#*#*
What that will do is connect your phone to the Google servers, say hello, and the server will send the update to your phone. (Force OTA - Over The Air update)
My data connection is working, I browse the internet fine except for the youtube app and gmail.com. When I go to gmail.com through my browser I get "a secure data connection could not be established." But yahoomail and flickr logins work fine on both wifi and 3g. No superuser or spareparts icons in the drawer. I can't access the android marketplace since I cannot log into my google account. I did the factory restore and the build number is the same. I did the checkin from my dialer and it said "checkin failed"
So it seems like the phone is rooted but I just need to flash a rom with the froyo features I want. Any links or guides to doing this? I read and superboot seemed like the easiest way.
Sounds to me like an issue with radio... flash a new radio might do the trick. However, before I start messing around with the radio not knowing anything about my phone, I'd look into doing this first.

This will bring your Nexus One back to it's original shipping rom. It's gonna be alot of work, BUT this IS almost a $600 phone.
So I followed those directions and i'm back on android 2.1 and i can log into my google and everything seems to work fine. I want to update to 2.2 so I go to system updates, download the update, and install. But during the install process it shows the little box with the android and the loading bar but it stops and goes to the android and the exclamation point. I'm not sure what to do from here. My Build Number is ERD79
Hold Volume up and press Power (or possibly the other way around). That should bring up the recovery menu.
I tried once with the OTA update I downloaded, the phone restarted and tried to install by itself but went to the android with the !. So I download a froyo rom and rename it update.zip, not .zip.zip. And put it on my phone, I'm in the blue recovery screen and it says signature error. I'm thinking its the wrong rom i'm using.
Hello everyone !
I've rooted my SFR Legend, and since i've flashed the 3st rom, i've randomly this message "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" and i need to enter my PIN, at this time i've never wiped, and i decided to wipe data/cache/dalvik-cache, flash radio and flash rom and the problem disappeared. But since i installed another rom (now i redo these steps in the same order every flash , wipe, flash radio and flash rom) the problem came back. I think Froyo must solve this problem and i've wait, now froyo is here and i've already the problem. I've tried to format SD and flash, i've tried to unroot but CID incorrect. I've wiped a time with clockworld mod and another time with r4-legend-root.
I need help please i don't find any solution
Edit: SOLVED , Andromax cause the problem
no answers? i didn't found any solutions
since you have the phone rooted, why don't you just install whitesnakedk's Froyo modified Vodafone ROM? I got tired of waiting for HTC to release one so I went ahead and used his and i feel like I just took it in to the shop and got it souped up, I love it! Everything feels like it's working better. So give that a try and see if the phone app keeps failing.
I think is a problem due to the radio update (included in 2.03), i think many files enter in conflicts between residues (if any) of the original radio and the new version. But wipe doesn't fix this
Hello everybody.
I am having serious trouble with my phone and I was hoping some of you might be able to help me out.
I just bought my SGS 3 days ago. It came with android 2.1.1 eclair installed.
I had read that that version was not the best ( the first thing I saw when I opened the phone actually was an error screen, and the lag was horrible) so when I got home I decided to try and upgrade it using the official software for it (Kies).
Unfortunately Kies would simply disconnect my phone when I told it to upgrade, after which it would ask me to upgrade again >.>
So I decided to use Odin to flash one of the newer 2.2.1 versions.
I flashed a 'JS3' version with a repartition to 803 pit , but it crashed after rebooting with the dbdata error (which as I learned later was caused by not flashing a full firmware).
I flashed JPU after which worked great. It was fast and responsive.
However my phone kept crashing. Whether on standby, using apps, or just trying to dial a number, it would freeze, start vibrating, and sometime reset, other times just stay frozen until I force shut down it from the power button.
I flashed JS5 afterwards, with full cache clearing, factory reset etc. Still crashed.
Then I tried flashing Darky's 9.2 Ressurection. Loved it but I couldn't even set up my google account because it crashed constantly.
Then I went back to what I believe is the current official version for my location and carrier (Vodafone Romania), JP9 .
After flashing it didn't crash, but after a while (one night), it started crashing like crazy, even wound up with weird gray lines and a freeze in the morning.
I was hoping someone here might know what is wrong with it. I already sent it back to be serviced but I am thinking maybe I broke it somehow and would like to know how so I don't do it again.
The phone is network locked, which I later learned is usually a bad thing for flashing, unfortunately I didn't know about that when I started.
well first of you want to remove the network lock so try these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913681
next step is to register on www.samfirmware.com (its free) and here is where you will get all the latest official firmwares from samsung..
what you want to do is download (XWJS5) with all 3 files and PIT and flash that through odin with RE-PARTITION..
Before you do that, put your phone into recovery mode (volume up + Home button + Power button ) and do a factory reset / wipe cache ect...
so when you have done that and flashed the new firmware. let me know what the outcome is..
another thing.. ALWAYS MAKE SURE KIES IS CLOSED.... EVEN IN THE ICON TRAY... AND MAKE SURE DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE.
other than that you shouldn't have any problems
hi, thanks for the advice.
I already did most of that however. I did a factory reset numerous times, and I also did a full repartition flash more than once, to no avail.
I am waiting to get it back from warranty service now but I am wondering what went wrong.
Was it broken when I bought it or did I damage it somehow by trying to flash it while network locked ?
flashing with network lock wouldnt make everything force close. the worst thing that could happen when flashing with network lock is not picking up a signal and possible IMEI corruption.
i think you may have just flashed the wrong ROM, it happens to us all, but the more you do it the more experienced you become and you soon learn methods to restore things..
dont worry too much it will be fine when it comes back from samsung, just be sure to read up properly if you have any doubts.. or ask a question first you will get a reply quicker than you can Unbrick your phone..
My phone seems to hate the 803 pit file. Lots of force closes when I used it. Try using 512, see if that works any better.
I've been unable to install apps from the Android Market Website since day 1. I've exchanged a number of e-mails with Google Support which suggested the usual:
Log-out of Google Talk and then log back in.
Turn phone off, remove battery, turn back on.
I also cleared application data for the Market.
When using the website, my device/account is recognised and i'm not presented with any errors when clicking install. The icon then turns to 'Installed' but nothing happens on my phone. No download in progress, no installation. Google said they were aware of an issue and applied a fix, but this hasn't changed anything for me. I'm using Android Market 2.3.2 and running Darkyy's ROM 9.3 b3 (but I've searched that thread and not found anyone with the same problem). Chrome-to-phone pushes are working fine and using the market through my phone also works fine.
Anybosy else had the same problem?
b does that not mean its a Beta rom unfinished released for testing and bug reports only .
I would try app brain http://www.appbrain.com/info/getting-started
Or use another rom

it is a beta, you're right, but nobody else seems to be having the same issue which makes me a little hesitant to attribute it to the beta ROM. It was also the case with the beta 2. I've used AppBrain, but hoping to get the Android Market Website working. I'll report back once a stable release for Darkyy's is released, and failing that, I'll try a stock ROM and let you know. Cheers.
I'll report back once a stable release for Darkyy's is released
due date the twelfth of never .

Just thought i'd point out that this issue was sorted by an update by google on their side.
Hello everybody,
I've searched around this and other fora for my problem, but I found nothing. I bought my SGS about 2 months ago. It came with Android 2.1 installed and, through Kies, I updated it to 2.2 Froyo. After that, I decided to flash Darky's 9.2, as I heard a lot of good things about it.
After flashing everything was fine for a couple of days, 'till I started installing some camera-based apps, like Barcode Scanner and Google Goggles: I used them about three times, then they started force closing (Google Goggles) or showing a black screen instead of the camera view (Barcode Scanner). The situation grew worst and worst as my camera app started giving me a "Warning - Camera Failed" as soon as i switched to video mode. I read on Android Forums this problem could be caused by some of those camera-using apps, so I uninstalled both Barcode Scanner and Google Goggles, but nothing changed.
Other listed solutions were to disable lagfixes, change ROM/firmware, reset the phone, but none of this helped.
After experiencing those problem with Darky's 9.2, I upgraded to the new Darky's 9.3, but I still experienced the same damned issue. Thinking of some software issue with Darky's, I formatted the phone, disabled any lagfix I had and tried to flash Jimmy's/Hamster's v6.3. Well it's blazing fast, but I still have a similar problem: both camera and video mode work flawlessly, but both Barcode Scanner and Google Goggles force close, while Layar reports it is "unable to access camera hardware".
And now here I am, asking for your help. Thanks in advance.
Loads of posts on this subject on Darky posts suggest one you search them two you delete the rom and go back to stock .Then use another custom rom of your choice .

Thank you for your post, but, as I stated, I've already searched for my problem and no solution worked. Also, I've already flashed to another ROM (Darky's-> Hamster's).
I also have the problem with camera. Try to find the newest firmware and update it, maybe that will solve the problem.
When i updated fw, camera worked fine for a couple of hours, and then, iI don't know how, phone automatically switched to my old fw (about 1-2 hours after rebooting).
Then I have to restart the phone and camera works fine again with new fw.
It's so annoying, but i don't have the complete solution yet. Btw, i'm on Darkys 9.6.6.
Sounds like you're missing the stock email.apk
