[Q] Turn notification LED off during sleep - Touch Diamond2, Pure Android Development

I used both XDAndroid and Neopeek builds. In both builds, notification LED turns on during deep sleep and there is no way to turn it off again until you use LED Effect and do a LED test. Then it blinks (as a test) and turns off, but it stays off until next sleep!! It's really annoying to see your LED turned on when you don't use your phone. The only reason that I don't use these builds much is that. Everything else is working fine or about fine! (I'm still waiting for the NAND version)... So guys, do you have any suggestions to help me out with? It's really important to me...
TIA.

I know why XDAndroid developers did this. That's for debugging and see whether your phone is working or not during sleep (I mean deep sleep). But I prefer to see it working normally like it does in WinMo. So dear ReWind402, what should users (like me) do?!
===================
I should mention that one of my boots didn't turn LED on. LED effects worked just fine and it blinked during new messages (but 3 times) and when I turned the phone off, it didn't turn on. But in the next boot, it didn't happen again
And one more question: Could we change the color of this LED? Cause I saw a program named Light flow or smthg that had options to change the color!! Lime, Green, Orange, Purple, Red, Yellow,...!!!! Is this possible?
TIA (again!)

Hey Black.Heart,
Sry for the little delay , anyway, for now there is nothing that can be done regarding disabling the led notification because its hardcoded in the kernel. As you know the led notification is used by devs for debugging reasons. The nand development and .35 kernel development is ongoing and in good shape, when the build will be usable, stable for day to day use the devs will restore the winmo led behaviour and remove all other debugging stuff.

Thanks ReWind. I've got no news from NAND build... What's it's status? DFT didn't publish anything new since that RHODIUM slow NAND build... Is XDAndroid team and DFT working together or separately? And thanks for your response (even with delay! )
And what about that boot I mentioned above? The one where LED was acting like WinMo? Do you have any ideas how did I reach that?!?!

DFT and XDAndroid teams are working separately, DFT finished porting MAGLDR and now they are working on the rom ( 2.6.32 kernel), XDAndroid team made their own bootloader also and they are working on a good 2.6.35 kernel rewriting it from zero. Anyway they are collaborating in some cases... Regarding that case i dunno maybe android did not loaded leds properly or something else,... i am just guessing dont know, could be anything... The guys are also working on rewriting the battery algo from scratch and the ril ( radio interface layer ).

.35 kernel is awesome... Can't wait to try it... Wow, didn't know that you've made a different bootloader... very cool... XDAndroid builds are the most stable builds yet. Can't wait to try the NAND... When it's expected to finish developing? Cause a lot of people like me are leaving their Topaz as their primary smartphone... And I hope this oldie can finally get a "functional"-not a fully one-Android OS.

Installing as I type! Can't wait the original kernel to get the battery related patches!
I am having a wired problem - after a while on standby, upon waking up the phone, it freezes. Clock doesn't advance and phone does not respond on buttons/slider. So I do a soft-reset after which in winmo I get a message sdcard is not formatted, do I want to format it. and indeed file system is damaged. And this happens for a second time in a row now! I havent had problems like that with other distributions, at least ones that require ext2 partition. Anyone have advice?
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
well, i cant charge
So far, it's perfect. Two issues that need to be resolved before I use it permanently is the charging and the battery drain.
Getting really close!

Ok so far so good! BUT: Would you provide us a lil bit of more info!
Which kernel did you use? Included one (=21/8) or that from SuperFroyo??

Sorry, was in a bit of a rush
Working: Marketplace, WiFi, GPS, battery meter, sound, messaging, gmail app, browser, ( bluetooth, I think )
Not: Camera, charging, power management
Used: Only the included files, nothing more.
May anyone please test this kernel?

Hey guys, my Galaxy S should arrive tomorrow.
@all Developers:
Thank you very much for the good work, keep it up
@the rest:
I wish you good luck, that you can enjoy android on your X1 as i will do it on my new phone.
Maybe i'll look back in here from time to time, to see the progress.
Best regards from germany
See ya!
report?
Total performance is smooth
My location , Wi-Fi, Market , Battery Meter , GMail, Sound, Music is working
other function. i didn't use it.
Overall performance is good, but Force Close dialog is too much show..... when i try to do anything. there's a delay (about 5~10sec?)
All of you guys should really post which kernel you are using. It will be very helpful for the developers!
I am downloading at the moment, will try the kernels and post the results
Original kernel + points about FroyoRedux:
- Charging works (I had it plugged when I launched Android, actually does increase WM battery percentage, too)
- Battery meter shows too much, but I think it will calibrate itself if I finish charging
- Speaker bug is there, headphone plug and unplug fixes that
- A bit faster than CyanogenMod6 with Tremere's kernel
- Nice theme
- Mass storage does not work (should I install a driver or something?)
- Sometimes stops responding to any other key than the top power button = home
- 3D does not work
- Sound and calling work fine, cannot adjust in-call volume (possibly due to the keys not working, but I had this problem with CM6+Trem too)
- Pretty much every app works, YOUTUBE TOO (lags a bit, but works)!
New testkernel:
- Phone reboots when first screen of android comes up
- I just replaced files, it crashed at lockscreen
- Ran a new installation, it crashed at black android system (title) -window
SuperFroyo kernel:
- Fastest one, menu scrolling is pretty nice with this kernel
- 3D does not work, Neocore crashes
- Sound works
- Youtube works, and lags less than with original kernel
- Charging does not work, battery meter shows what comes to it's mind

Tried copy/paste of those two files straight into root of SD-card (can only guess as it's not written anywhere). Phone reboots as soon as it comes to PIN-code page. Tried to restart a couple of times but nope.
Tried the SuperFroyo-kernel as well. Much faster in comparison to kernel from tremere's build 21/8.
Else, nothing more to add other then lkoljo wrote.
Big thx!
tried this kernel
xperia-xdandroid-kernel-20100922
Sound didn't work??
I'm useing the test kernel now, and it booted up without any problems
Gonna test Battery life for 2 hours, then switch back to vm to see if it gives good result's
Did you use the test-kernel from scratch. I mean when first booting up? or did you try first included kernel then after booting up you replaced kernel? I ask this because it's just not clear for me: You say it works w/o hassle and others report that they can't even get into the Launcher or that they have a black screen. I am just confused now
I did first use Tremere's Kernel with your build, and then i just copied the test kernel start from vm and booted it up. It's fast and stable it seems, i did use Android in standby mode for one and half hour. Well i did look around in system meny and such tried calling it but no signal just vibrate wich i did turn on. Battery used in android is 20% from fully charged 100% Switch back to vm says 78% so the meter seems almost correct. Tried original charger but it didn't work, Then tried pc usb charging and it seems to work Gonna try Xdandroid's new kernel now released today. Will get back to you tomorrow
I have now tested the new Xdandroid kernel released 23/9/10 for one and half hour now, switched back to vm and guess what?
i had 100% when i started android, used it for one and a half hour and then i switched back to vm it had only used 9% battery
Thats the best result i ever had using android, so hey if only sound/ mic problem gets fixed then this would be great
Grab the new kernel from thier Xdandroid wiki
I have tested 21/09/2010 [Xperia X1][FroyoRedux-Port][CM6] with the latest kernel from xdandroid (23/9/10) and it works very well, stable and fast. And the battery is a big improvment!!
I also overclocked it to 640mhz and the UI is then superfast.
Keep up the good work

you use zimage to?
FYI: In the next days there will be heavy updates regarding some of my builds. Fixed almost everything I could! Just trying out today some of the kernels released lately and then I think we will have a really really good CM6-Ports ready for all of you! Everything that's working in XDAndroid "Final" should then also work for us! So maybe I will call my builds "Pre-Final". Another thing that I should mention is that user ferlanero from xda-devs has today shipped over his X1 from Spain to Germany (my location). Once I receive it I will be going to try some NAND-related stuff!
X1 from user sequester will be my porting-device to test ports and latest nightlies from Cyanogen
X1 from user ferlanero will be my nand-test-device
Be prepared to get the proposed updates (see above) on this weekend. Again speical thanx to sequester and ferlanero for supporting me! This really motivates me in doing all this stuff!
Yes zimage to at lest i did

You should go on ebay and buy a new battery
pretty cheap
For me, its seems coming from android drivers, because WM runs for 3days without plugging AC Power ...

Oh haha, I have the same problem, your not the only one. But in the android porting of the DIAM, this has been known as a issue, and this point everything is being done. The battery is just PART of a list of bugs and issues.
What you can do to limit battery drain
1] Lower settings on android -Screen brightness, -Use Data when needed otherwise keep it off, also with internet.
2]I have gone through many kernels and it all of them vary, but ill let you know what kernel i have [because its ok with the battery]
3]Be patient because this is a project in the making so fixes will come as they are found [camera, video etc]
ALL this is mentioned through the massive thread [I would hate to read it all]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711692
stay tune
Adjust your backlight (for me, the maximum brightness is too strong - I'm photophobic- so I use the backlight on its 30~40%), or turn off connections like GPS, BT or Wi-Fi, just turn on when it's necessary...
It'll save some batt...
If the problem continues, grab a new batt on ebay...
I did it, it seems to be better, after 12h with a low utilization, the battery is at 60%.
But it's long to wait for a good release x)

[Q] LED notification stops after 4,5 times <cm7>

Dear community,
I noticed that LED notifications don t work very well .. it starts blinking but after a while it ends up dark, like after 4 or 5 times.
I tried differend CM7 nightlys and redy's Custom CM, still no success.
I should add, that i also vibed my device.
What could i do?
I tried agent205's method by using the "LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications" and fixing the permissions, but this app say everytime i start "this app doesn t have some needed permissions".
I love the LED notifications...ahh
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Thx!
No ideas. :/ ?
when you boot your phone, they'll back to the default permission, no write permission
i don't know how to keep it yet
It s a weird thing. I Mean why doesn t work it? I had no problems with another optimus black...
"LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications" seems don't work on ROM 3.2.4 V20N, can anyone make it work coz i love this app so much. Thanks.
I think you need root in order to set some properties on some files in order for BLN to work.
my phone is rooted and i try agent205's method but i try the test feedback it doesn't blink.
Like agent205 said, restarting the phone results in default file properties.
But in cm7 LED notifications are integrated. Regardless, it stops blinking after 4 or 5 times, no matter which cm7 version I tried.
What could be the problem? Is it the hardware? I Don t get it :/
The problem occurs only on latest cm nightlies for me and only on some boots. So probably some of the new commits cause it.
OT did you guys notice that the leds flash blue when charging on a switched off phone? Or is it just me? It would be cool to have different colour notifications, or is it already possible and I just don't know of it?
You can change app specific different LED behaviours in the CM7 settings.
As far as i know the dimmed blue notification (without pulse behaviours) works on OB, or better worked on my OB since this ****ed up.
But i hope your're right and it will work in another release.
I doubt this is a official known bug though. Am i right?
EDIT. Problem gone on. Nightly 63. Thx all.

Soft button lights problem fixed in ROM?

Is there a fix for the problem with the soft button lights yet? They always turned off on the stock ROM and also on Zeus ROM. I am now using CM7 and the lights work, but the rest of the ROM is crap. I need a reliable phone that I can also use in the dark. Thanks!
the lights issue is a gb issue until now there is no real fix for it (unless till lg releases a patch or sth)
for the time being you could try this app i tried it and sometimes it works sometimes it dosent..... =P
but i dont think its a big problem anyway.... its just 4 buttons at the bottom... =)
it is not an issue or bug... it is a feature of gb for saving battery implemend by lg... It's been the same with o3d and I think with 2x as well(not sure about the 2x though). Now the fact that some people don't like it doesn't make it a bug, does it?
It is a bug, since the support already confessed, it is. If you buy a phone with a function, like lights always on and that feature gets lost after an update, what do you call it? Feature (like LG) or bug? I would call it a bug, but I think we could keep on discussing a whole week or even longer. I at least would like to have a choice, whether to enable it or not. That's all I can say to this. And since they already work on a bugfix, they either really implemented a bug, or a "feature" hardly anyone wants to have.

[Q] Notification Light not working properly

Hey Folks,
got a little problem with my shamu Device
Currently im running CM12 Nightly on my Nexus 6. Mostly stock because I updatet it an hour ago. My Problem is that my Notification light is not working as it should. I can define colors for specific apps but if I get a notification, the LED isnt pulsating like it should. It stays on all the time. Is there any workaround for this problem? Maybe with Lightflow or Tasker (not into Tasker but when it´s working)
Thanks for any advices or answers
Greetings and have a nice day.
P.S.:
Nexus 6 running Cynaogenmod 12 from 2015-06-25 stock.

This is normal. You'll have to search but there are ways or ROMs that can get it to pulsate.
Isn´t there any patch or .zip file to modify this? I mean, it is also possible to flash double tap to wake for then nexus 6. Why not a pulsating LED?

Because there isn't the hardware to do it. The phone has to run a script or an app and keep the device awake in-order for it to tell the LED to turn off and turn back on via software. From what I have read, this isn't even always 100% effective, in that it will not always work properly. It also can potentially be a big drain on your battery, as the device will never be able to sleep while the LED blinks.
There is a thread here that discusses a few developers trying to figure out how to make it blink, and there was no success. There have been other threads too, but as far as I have seen there has been zero success in making it blink without an app/script or whatever it is.
Double tap to wake on the other hand was something Google put in themselves. They later removed it for the Nexus 6. The hardware is there for it to function, even though it doesn't work 100% of the time (sometimes you have to double tap twice or three times), which is probably why they removed it from the N6. I am pretty sure Google left it in for the Nexus 9. The Nexus 5 doesn't have the hardware to support it, so they don't get so lucky. There isn't a good way for the Nexus 5 to get double tap to wake either, because the only way to enable it is to do something like keeping things awake yet again, and from what I have heard it is a pretty big battery drain for that functionality.
Ahh okay I understand it.. but then it offers me a question why the Meanpop Custom Rom can handle it without big drain of battery.
Before you ask why I don´t stay at MeanPop.. I like Cynaogenmod more

I am not saying it is definitely a big drain on battery. I just said potentially it could be. There certainly were some people that claimed to have suffered poor battery performance after making it blink. Maybe we are talking the difference of a couple percent at the end of the day which you may not notice. But I am sure in some usage cases, that wouldn't be the case and it would be higher.
Does the meanpop dev release their source? I have no clue how the dev accomplishes it, maybe it is something you could make into a flashable zip and include with any ROM. Or it is something that is deeper than that, and likely will require you to build a ROM from source. If there is no source, perhaps try asking the dev.
Alternatively you can use whatever method some other people have used. I am pretty sure, I linked a couple of popular threads to you the last time you asked this question, here.

I don´t know how the dev did it. I just know that there is a data in your filesystem which defines everything. So It can be something more deeper than normal. But I think the dev of Meanpop won´t be doing a flashable zip if this would be possible because this feature makes his Custom Rom way more unique.
I´m not so into Tasker and Lightflow ... but maybe I will give it a try. Thanks for your help!
