[Q] CM7 SDCARD version setup already? - Nook Color General

I have Nookie Froyo sdcard for my Nook, I would like to switch to CM7 stable version on sdcard and wanted to know if there is a setup version already.
SDCARD bootable CM7
I run CM7 on Droid incredible and really like it, so I thought I would try it out on Nook if it was not a huge hassle.
Thanks!

MicroSD card and Apps

Is there away to install apps to microsd? I am currently running HC. Thanks in advance.
Android 2.2 and above support app2sd. You need Froyo on your Nook Color for it to work.

...so are you saying this will not work on HoneyComb? Your response is a little confusing, since I stated in my post I was already running HC. So how to I make this happen?
???? When I go into settings, manage applications, applications, it does not give me the option to "MOVE TO SD card"
I'm also having this problem. I've got Deeper Blue's 04 version of HC running on my Nook. With the built-in 1.1 OC kernel, and full market support, life is good.
Life would be perfect if I could just move some of the apps to my 8Gb SD card.
When looking at the apps in Settings=>Applications=>Manage Applications, most (not all) have the the "Move to SD Card" button activated (e.g. not grayed out). However when I try and move them I always get a pop-up telling me "Failed to move application".
I've also installed Apps 2 SD from the market, but it won't move them either.
If anyone has been able to move any apps, please share your secrets

Stock NC is 2.1, Froyo is 2.2, and Honeycomb is 3.0. I how app2sd work on 2.2. I wouldn't bother with Honeycomb right now so I don't know but it should if the apps supports Honeycomb.
App2sd note,
Latest version: 1.41 (for Android version 2.2 and higher, supports App2SD)

Dual Booting While Keeping Original Stock Nook

I've been successfully using phiremod's ROM in eMMC but now also want to be able to use original stock Nook config. I can restore NC back to out-of-box configuration but am looking for best dual boot solution so I can still play with HC, froyo, cm7, etc. Here are my questions:
1. Do any of the dual boot options let stock Nook share eMMC with another ROM?
1a. Can only specially modded ROMs be dual booted from eMMC?
2. Can the original stock Nook be run from SD?
3. Can phiremod's ROM share eMMC with another ROM or can it run from SD?
4. Can I do a Titanium backup of all of my phiremod-running apps and restore them in another ROM (I don't want to have to re-download and configure all my Market apps again)?
Sorry for all the questions but I tried to get all of them in one place.
TIA
I've had some of the same questions too.
I'd like to keep stock on the eMMC but be able to play with HC, CM7, Froyo on eMMC too... (right now I'm running stock/rooted on the eMMC, and Froyo and HC on different MicroSD cards)
If I correctly understand what I've read, it does appear the answer to your question 1 & 1a is YES... When dual booting ROMs on the eMMC (or SD for that matter), it appears that the eMMC needs to be repartitioned, and the roms edited/adjusted to point at the correct partitions on the eMMC. There is a thread which contains already "edited for dual boot" roms. see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959461 and there is a "script file" to move the stock nook rom into dual boot. (I haven't been brave enough to try it)
As for question 2, from what I read in another thread, running the stock NookColor rom from SD would also take adjusting the image/rom to point to the SD card partitions instead of the eMMC partitions. I haven't found any work being done on this, as there doesn't seem to be much demand for it.
I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable than me comes along to verify my understanding is correct, and properly answer your questions.

1 and 1a are definitely yes, look at the dual boot thread in the development section.
I hear #2 is possible but I haven't seen much of it yet, it may exist.
For #3, phiremod is based on CM7 which doesn't have an SD version as far as I know...it's definitely possible to dual boot if someone makes a dual boot compatible version.
For #4, I don't see a reason why you couldn't. Titanium backup has always worked across multiple roms and devices.

[Q] Need Help With Dual Booting

I would have posted this question on the developer board, but I am too much of a noob. I am wary that my question will sound like jibberish, but I am really confused about dual booting and the special files that are necessary.
I am using rooted 1.1 stock and have got it customized about as far as I can go. I want to run CM7, but the one app that keeps me tied to the Eclaire OS is the original B&N reader app that allows downloading of magazines and newspapers. From what I gather, the standard Market Nook app does not allow magazines and newspapers to be downloaded. I saw that some on this board are trying to port the original stock reader to Froyo and CM7, but they are not there yet.
Because I want to keep 1.1 and still try out CM7, I am looking to either boot CM7 off an SD card or dual boot 1.1 and CM7 in eMMC. I have yet to see a solution for booting CM7 off SD, so I have turned my attention to dual booting.
There are threads and files on the development board that allow for dual booting, but I can't quite figure them out. If possible, I would like to have the current 1.1 placed in the "alternative" partition (Power+n) and CM7 in the main partition (Power). Here are my questions:
Can I dual boot my existing 1.1 and the latest version of CM7 (14)?
Can I do this without any specially modded ROMs?
Does running the partitioning program destroy the existing 1.1 setup?
There is also a "script" to move the current setup to the new partition. Does that mean that my exising 1.1 setup will be left intact after the partitioning and can be moved without any alteration?
If so, do I need a special version of CM7 or will it automatially flash to the proper partition?
Assuming this is all possible, how do I use adb with all of the partitions?
And lastly, is CWM still usable in this type of arrangement?
I am sorry for all of these questions and I hope they kind of make sense. Thanks very much in advance for any help.
All good questions. I can only answer number 3. the partitioning zip will not destroy the BN install. Just makes the free space on the emmc smaller. Well it does more then that, but that is what you'll notice when using the BN install. I successfully used it to dual boot with HC. There is a bug with CWM 3005 that you'll run into if you follow the HC dual boot instructions from addictivetips. Use CWM 3010 or look for the shell script you have to ADB onto the CWM to allow CWM 3005 work with the dual boot script.
I'd love the answers to the other questions as well.
This is the fastest and easiest way I found to Dual Boot. Works flawlessly.

[q] Going from CM7 to NF

So i'm thinking of going to nookie froyo after initially playing around with cm7. it's great but the battery drain is pretty bad.
is there anything i need to do in order to go to nookie froyo (emmc install), or can i just follow the instructions as if i was installing nookie froyo from stock?
Be sure to remember that CM7 uses the EXT4 File extension and nookie froyo uses EXT3. If you are running CM7 off an SDCARD you can just format the SDCard and install nookie froyo on it. Else, you are going to need to re-partition the eMMC to be EXT3 using thecubed's method.

ClockworkMod Recovery Help

I have updated my NC to 1.2 and am running CM7.0.3 from an SD card.
I keep seeing CWM mentioned and have some idea of it from reading a thread here on another board.
Questions -
Is there a similar thread on XDA, a search pulls up a lot of threads to go through but I couldn't find a similar explanatory thread.
Most threads I have read refer to using with NC running 1.1 or earlier, can current CWM be used on 1.2 and where to find and make sure you are using latest CWM
Is it best to load CWM in the NC memory or does using it from an SD card give more flexibility, once a good working copy of autonooter is ready I would like to use this and quit with the loading from SD card, so it seems going the NC memory route is probably best but I haven't a clue if that is right.
If you want CWM on the eMMC (internal storage), all you have to do is go to the ROM Manager app in CM7.0.3, and the first option, Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, will install it on your NC, replacing the stock recovery.
The main reason to run it from a SD card instead would be if you wanted to leave the stock recovery (which restores the NC to factory settings after 8 failed boots) intact.
It doesn't sound like you really need CWM for anything you're planning on doing, though, and you're probably going to get better performance from CM7, on SD or eMMC, than a rooted stock OS, anyway.

I just posted a link to the XDA Clockwork Page on the Wiki, located in the general discussion sub forum.

You are probably right and I should just put it on an SD.
I like CM7 and would prefer it to be on EMMC eventually with a dual boot option to NC1.2 if that is possible. Getting it their is a little daunting. Will autonooter accomplish this when they get the bugs worked out or does that just root the NC.
When CM7 is on EMMC and you are not rooted doesn't that just mean you get wiped out on the next NC update, I would like to avoid that and would also like to be able to flash CM7 stable updates as available.
In the meantime I find 7.0.3 more stable and less forced closes so far for me. My Transcend 8gb class 6 seems quick enough (just as smooth as my laptop but not as fast as EMMC) The only problem I have found so far is I cannot get it overclocked both kernels I have tried 0404 and 0424 give an error on the first line.
Putting $10-25 into a class 2/4 Sandisk would probably get you about as much stability as moving to eMMC. From the SD thread:

Just a minor addition with a Transcend card. I'd seen many posts that swore by a Transcend Cl 6 8G card through Newegg. I ordered, received, benchmarked and loaded CM7 Nightly 37.
To cut to the chase, the Transcend sucked big hairy monkey balls. Similar small block write speeds as the other crappy cards. And the CM7 performance was predictably bad. Crappy UI response and FCs.

I'm sure any of these would work fine as data cards. But for running off of SD, it makes a huge difference.

Get CM7 running smooth, and you might change your mind altogether about rooting stock
ETA: I missed your concern about updates. Rooting definitely does not remove the concern about updates--if you make any changes to eMMC, you're going to want to stay off WiFi with stock OS until there's a CWM-compatible ROM of the new stock OS available. You can receive stable updates of CM7 on SD as they become available, you'll just have to manually boot into recovery to finish the installation. There's a setting in Settings>CyanogenMod.
Actually I have a 4gb class 2 Sandisk. I see no difference when I use it. I put CM7.0.3 on to test that build before flashing and updating my CM7.0.1 on my Transcend.
