[APP] HTC HD2 ToolBox with Hot BootLoader - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Small app for managing some HD2 specific tasks (auto backlight, button auto-off...) and few other things. This is early preview beta just for bug testing and "market research". This basically means "if you want some more functions, give me an idea !" .
Also in later stage i will activate Hot BootLoader for loading linux distros from android, and some other nifty tricks like kernel swapping, "on the fly" user data remount, and other...
For all updates follow me on twitter...
Enjoy
UPDATE: Released new version with Hot BootLoader and sample linux distro (debian with xfce4). For more information go to appropriate forum: LINK
And please all questions regarding HBL put in other thread !

any screenshot pls ?

Looks good so far, the hot bootloader function alone will make the app worth having once implemented.
Would also be great to have hot recovery (cwm via mgldr or clk- dont ask me how to pull that off lol)
and maybe a hot mgldr option if possible,
and screen density.
Shows real potential !
Tried to up a couple of screen shots, but tapatalk isn't letting me

What's the different between backlight control using microp vs std android?

Hot reboot would be a nice feature to include

It has hot reboot already, restart zygote (the davlik vm, that's how most programs hot reboot anyways) it's under misc in the menu.

You just took words out of my mouth I should probably rename this button so more users would know what it means.

Tried this and I got stuck on the boot animation screen. Had to pull battery out and then it booted fine.

Thx for your app, the hot reboot is awesome !!
Note that after an hot reboot, I have to enable/disable flight mode because the network connection doesnt work anymore (I could receive calls but no internet).
Again, what's the different between backlight control using microp vs std android ?
And would you include a trick to make the led notifications working ?

i would love to boot ubuntu 0.3 from android 2.3.3, hope you can do something about that..

At dan1j3l I just recently installed a app called Boot Anomation that can be found here on XDA. This app lets you imstall a new boot animation, back up your boot animation and download new boot animations. It is a fairly new app so it not a lot of boot animations to download just yet but it works great. I think your HD2 Tool Box app would be awsome with something like this in it.
Also no rush but I am looking forward to being able to use the Hot Boot function, any news on that as of right now?

Was this v19? There was known issues with this, and other ROMs based on the Community ROM N7105 Port.
v20 is out now and is based on a proper I9305 based firmware, and doesn't seem to have the known Youtube issues.
The Power disconnect issue is still around I think (unfortunately) but this a kernel-based problem which I can't fix.
At the moment, custom bootanimation doesn't exist in v20 until a hack is done for it.
yes. v19
thanks for answering the rest
got confused - re boot animation " Remove Samsung / Carrier Bootanimation (allow for custom Bootanimations) "

I'm researching this at the moment. Hopefully there is a way I can fix the ROM so I don't have to use a third-party app to do it. Worse case scenario I'll search the Play Store and see what I can find.
Doesn't boot
Hey,
I just tried to flash your 20.10 version on my I9305, formerly running TGP 4.3. I'm on TWRP 2.6.3.0 Recovery.
Flashing works fine. But the phone doesn't boot up. I also did the Full wipe (Dalvik, Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage) but all I see when booting up is the "Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE" Screen and then the screen goes and stays black.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem here?
Edit: I'm on old bootloader and tried different installation options.

Aha, I have new bootloader plus philz, I'll try with TWRP
With TWRP 2.6.3.0 it works (2.7.0.0 has some problems with showing aroma files corectly om i9305)
I installed version 20.01 now which works fine. No idea why it doesn't work with 20.10.

A few errors.
Hi all! I flashed this rom a while back and have had a few errors. I did flash the proper modem and all and everything is fairly smooth. I'm not sure if I'm just being too picky, but I'd like to give my feedback and get some opinions...
I really enjoy the standard wanam and exposed installer options!
The errors:
Occasionally, i get repetitive notifications of my text messages. I will view a text message, dismiss the notification and i will get a random notification a few hours later, no new message...
Another problem i have had is with one particular messaging app called line. When i get an onscreen notification (one that pops up even if the display is a sleep), follow the shortcut to view the message, unlock the screen and reply, the keyboard doesn't register text. The predictions will show up but no yext is entered until i exit and re enter the app from the hone screen. This only happens with this app and no other apps that require text input. I have changed the keyboard and reinstalled the app, checked and reset settings... Everything i can think of short of reinstalling the rom. I suppose it could be an incompatibility issue, a bad install of the rom, or the rom has a glitch as far as allowing for this screen off pop-up to app transition.
Beyond that, it's a great development. Thank you!
Feedback and suggestions :
I would love it if there were a few notification bloats removed. For instance, the persistent and annoying earphones connected shortcut notification, the on screen wifi connected notification and the data roaming off (or something to that effect). I have checked and searched for work arounds for these abd couldn't dig anything up. The horrendous touchwiz in this version has seemed to strio away some options that were previously there...
Keep up the good work!
5*
Its working fine the new update !
thx

Sounds like you need to recalibrate your battery. Basically use it until it dies then turn it on and and use it again until it dies, then put it on the charger until its %100. Should be good after that. Its not a ROM or kernel issue. Just needs done every so often.
Ok OP awesome work! I have OTA available, is it ok to download and install it?

SuperSU issue & some Android settings
I have just tried this ROM on my M7. I have to say it's really awesome. Thank you very much for your effort.
I have 3 questions with this ROM, hoping s.o can give some ideas. Thanks.
1. I can't find Restart/Screenshot option in the menu when I press Power button anymore (These options can be found easily in KitKat)
2. I have SuperSU up and running, I tried some Check Root apps and it says the device was root. But XmodGames said otherwise. I am not sure if you can try installing Xmodgames and check that. Thanks.
3. I can't find option to display the percentage of battery left. Does Android 5.0 still support this feature?
Hey nice rom just have a small issue where phone screen turns on when I push the volume keys even during music playback screen always turns on when I push volume up or down. Anyone else experience this?

I installed my first custom rom (this one) yesterday and i'm thrilled about lollipops features. but i challenge a few problems.
My questions:
1. I'm experiencing problems with Whatsapp. It does not refresh itself and gives me push notifications, i always have to navigate into the app to receive my new massages. Any help here?
2. Is there any possibility to remove the annyoing energy saver mode notification in status bar?
3. What do I have to do to mute ringtones and media only and keep my alarm clock loud? The simple "tap" like it worked on Kit Kat roms to mute e.g. the ringtone doesn't work for me.
I'd appreciate your help. Sorry for my english (Im from Germany)

Issues updating the supersu binary
I am having issues updating the supersu binary. Supersu version installed is 2.40.
Installed elemental-x kernel, and stock kernel. Both have failed.
Used boot.img from liquidsmooth version 4.0 (5.0.2), but phone wouldn't boot up. Extracted boot.img from skydragon 6.0.0 5.0.1 and flashed into phone. Might try boot.img from a 5.0.1 liquidsmooth rom.
Tried updating the binaries in normal mode, failed to update. Tried twrp/cwm mode, it won't reboot.
Downloaded busybox on rails from the playstore. To my surprise, I was able to grant root access to the app in order to install busybox. It seems that 99% of the applets installed. The only applet missing is "nc"
Tried another busybox apps, but they all fail.
Keep getting a notification to update busybox, missing binaries.
Running T-mo htc one m7, S-off, unlocked bootloader. SuperCID.
Thanks for the support in advance
SIGNAL/IMEI and adb issues
I'm not sure if they are related or not, but I've flashed this ROM several times and I'm seeing the same two issues:
1. All the values under About, Status show "unknown" for IMEI, and IMEI SV. I've popped the sim out and reseated it. Still nothing.
2. I am not able to connect to the phone via adb. At first, the device was showing up as "offline". I tried a couple fixes (restorecon fix, updated adb) and now it's not even showing as a device. I'll reboot my mac in a bit to see if I've just effed the adb install/state.
This phone was originally an AT&T Sense HTC One (m7). iirc, you had to mess with one of the id's to get GPE on it, but this ROM claimed somewhere that you didn't need to do that. Is that my issue? the CID is wrong.. (I think there were two ID's)
EDIT#1: possible derp moment. Baseband also shows Unknown.
EDIT#2: I'm S-ON. I got adb working by extracting boot.img from the ROM and flashing via fastboot.
./fastboot flash boot boot.img
still trying to resolve the baseband/IMEI issue

Fantastic! Finally we've got a rom of our very own, for which you've got my immense thanks. I'm very much looking forward to trying it out.
Unfortunately when I flashed it there was a loooong wait on the Samsung logo, and then... Well, after an hour I booted back to recovery to start over.
I honestly don't think your rom was the problem though, because from some point last night everything I tried - custom rom flashing and nandroid backup restores - wound up the same way. Odin + stock + root got a usable system at least, and today's been too busy to try again. But when I do I'll post back about how it goes.
(Sadly, I can't go back in time to see what order I did things and look for a pattern if this happens again. In case it might be useful to anyone, I know for sure I'd gotten stock set up comfortably and made a complete backup before giving thunderoar's T113 kernel a whirl, and that went swimmingly. Even had mounts2sd properly recognizing external sd set up after a long struggle, though not actually enabled yet. Don't know what else i did between making that backup and trying to flash this, but it's likely I just screwed something up somehow.)

Thanks so much for responding even though I didn't specifically ask.
Pretty much all my knowledge comes from following instructions in these forums and piecing little bits of information together, so I've got a few questions - trying to understand the "why" behind these things in order to be more self-sufficient. Please feel free to point me towards resources where I can learn more!

When you install a rom, especially a TW one, in most case you need a specific Bootloader to cause it to start and work smoothly.
Wikipedia:
A boot loader is a computer program that loads an operating system or some other system software for the computer after completion of the power-on self-tests; it is the loader for the operating system itself. Within the hard reboot process, it runs after completion of the self-tests, then loads and runs the software. A boot loader is loaded into main memory from persistent memory, such as a hard disk drive or, in some older computers, from a medium such as punched cards, punched tape, or magnetic tape. The boot loader then loads and executes the processes that finalize the boot. Like POST processes, the boot loader code comes from a "hard-wired" and persistent location; if that location is too limited for some reason, that primary boot loader calls a second-stage boot loader or a secondary program loader.
The bootloader runs your rom with specific instructions, if the rom does not support an older bootloader simply does not boot. My rom does not support the older bootloader. A zip flash in this case cannot upgrade a delicate part like the bootloader. You need to flash the newer one with Odin.
There's no Canadian version - but should I presume that, since this is a Wi-Fi only device, the CSC isn't too important?
How much does this matter even when using a device with a network connection?

The latest update for your country is PA5. Try with THIS.
Your country code is XAC.
The CSC (Sale Country Code) Is that part of the firmware that contains all the telephone operator customizations (e.g. WAP, MMS) for the intended country. As far as i know, It is not important for us.
(Ooops, forgot to do this right off the bat. My bad!)
Does recovery version generally make a big difference?

Yes, the Recovery can make the difference.
I've been wiping Data as well - is that not necessary?
Does wiping Internal Storage have a big effect? I suppose there's a fair bit of app-specific stuff in there that could cause issues?

I forgot to write data, my bad! But i wrote it in the instructions in the first topic. For personal experience i had different issues when I didn't formatted the Internal Storage. The Android folder, .thumbnails and others, can create issues.
Ah well, soon enough!

You're doing just fine!
I'll reply more later, but wanted to report that it's installed and running very smoothly! Haven't played around much but will do at home later.
If you've got any tips for getting mounts2sd up and running I'd really appreciate it!

Yup, that's the app I'm using, but haven't been able to get my external partition mounted properly. I did manage it once, think it was with thunderoar's kernel though.

Life has gotten in the way of playing around with this, but thought I'd send you an update as I said I would...
Your rom is running really nicely on my tablet as I use it daily. It's smooth and small, with no unexpected reboots or fc's on installed apps. Didn't wipe internal SD but it hasn't given me any issues with existing data (probably because there wasn't much to start with).
One thing that has caused a problem is calendar sync. It looks like you've taken out the actual syncing service, so when I try to access my calendars through any app I'm asked to add a new Google account, even though everything's already set up in "Accounts" under Settings. I haven't tried running the "calendars.providers.apk" from my other phone, that should fix the problem - but I don't want to use the wrong version and break something!
Also, I've confirmed that the only time I got mounts2sd working, it was with thunderoar's kernel. So guess that's going to have to wait.
A few adjustments I made to the setup were to uninstall all "unnecessary" system apps (not needed to run the device), and re-install them from the store. This way I've got 676mb free on /system and still over 1.5GB free on internal storage.
I've also added a multi-reboot menu to make getting into recovery or download mode simpler, and this is loading more quickly on your rom than stock. I've also had to modify permissions.xml to allow apps to access external storage by default, and made another tweak to disable the "loud volume warning" (don't remember quite what it was offhand).
Would you consider adding these to a future version?
Again, thanks SO much for putting this together, answering questions, and doing your thing. It's greatly appreciated!

Anyway, If I have enough time, the next update should contain a lot of new features. Your suggestions are already planned :good:

One more question about this: The way you've worded the second paragraph seems to imply only that older bootloaders don't work with newer roms, so are newer bootloaders backwards compatible? Say I've got the PH5 bootloader installed and I want to restore a backup of the previous firmware, do I have to flash that firmware first?
Sorry if it seems obvious, this is how we learn!

Absolutely it isn't obvious, don't worry . The Bootloader, for my personal experience, are backwards compatible. I don't have a scientific knowledge about this, but for what I did with other device it can work. Just try :fingers-crossed:, don't forget a full backup.

T113/T113nu and T116/T116ny have a similar codename and hardware (The recovery have goyave codename, therefore any rom with goyave codename can be flashed). For the hotspot, maybe some missing libraries, a different driver or a different kernel makes hotspot broken. Try to restore your kernel from a previous backup.

[ROM][TMOBILE][S7_SM-G930T][Oreo Rooted]

I created a new ROM with WifiCalling: [ROM][TMOBILE][S7_SM-G930T][Oreo 8.0 Rooted][WifiCalling]
ROM last updated: 9/24/2018
Introduction:
HUGE thanks to the guys that got this going like root & figuring out hybrid stocks! This thread here is just my take and customization on what they already did. Ultimately, I wanted Oreo rooted & modded, but I couldn't find a single guide. And the ROMs that existed weren't exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something exclusive to Tmobile. So I did a ton of reading and compiled it all together into a HOPEFULLY easy guide to follow. PS If you like Samsung bloatware, this is NOT for you!
Description:
EXTREMELY debloated! Nearly bare minimum, while still retaining hardware functionality. Eg, Samsung Gallery & Camera exist so we get 4k recording, and there aren't errors when we pull up the Gallery to edit, etc.
Everything possible I replace Samsung with Google
Solid ROM, very fast
There are very few options in Aroma to limit issues & repeatability. There are many options once booted up after initial setup
If you hate Samsung SW and just want a solid working ROM with very few install options to get you up and running this is for you.
Aroma installer layout is a little wonky, apologies (If anyone knows how to fix this please chime in )
This will delete all of your data! This is the only way so don't ask. Backup your data!
Features:
Optional Tmobile Apps
Optional Google Apps

Meant no offensive at all, I assure you. Did I completely misunderstand the point of the xda community? I clearly gave you credit and didn't say I created this from scratch, rather pieced it together, literally what every Dev here does. I am not doing this for money. I mentioned & thanked you, which is probably how you found this thread. All I am trying to do is give back to the community. I spent a TON of time going through guides, updating what I found, creating a guide, and testing this - I didn't just rebrand it.
That said, I did use part of your work so I'll give you the choice: can I use part of your work and allow the xda community to benefit, or do you want me to remove your segment & Lanc app this comes with?
Btw see the post above yours. And shouldn't this chat be on PM? For reference, what I used from you was your apks so I didn't have to redownload & retest them and aroma script for a starting point, but the script is 90% different at this point.
Again, I did not mean to offend, but please let me know if I have your permission. Thank you

VoLTE icon fix
Not sure if this will work for everyone. Download System UI Tuner by Zach Wander from Play Store. Once in menu, go to TouchWiz, scroll down to IMS VoLTE Icon and toggle on then off. I did not apply the fix that you have the link for above, and I was able to uninstall the app and the icon does not come back.
Hey, I am trying to use your ROM but after I flash the zip file and finish set up with Aroma and reboot, I get stuck in the boot screen where the rainbow colored X symbol is spinning. I followed the guide exactly so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe my default options in flash fire are not correct? All the boxes in that screen are unchecked. Should I mount /system read/write? I just hit the checkmark and flash. Also I did hit Install Root with Interactive Governor, if that makes a difference. Any help? Thanks.

Copying/Pasting PM I sent you for others, and added some things:
Did you let the "rainbow" sit there for at least 10 min? (It should be 3-5 but who knows.) Are you soft-bricked in your current situation? If you start again, at "Install Stock Oreo:" does this at least restore your phone back to stock Oreo? If so, then try again and proceed with ALL the remaining steps again, CAREFULLY reading the instructions again & again.
Also, what phone model do you have? And I admit I haven't tested the CPU governors in the root script ; I ALWAYS chose none - I'll remove those options in the next version since I have tested them and there are plenty of CPU overclocking options once booted inside the ROM.
If you are able to restart this process and get stock Oreo back, AND chose NO CPU governors in the root script, maybe you want to either try "NO" to Google & Tmobile options just to make sure you can get Android booted- If it boots fine, then try the ROM again and pick Google and/or Tmobile to isolate any issues (things that are breaking)
Have you used ONLY what I provided, such as ODIN (version is important), etc?
Re Flashfire: Default options should be fine. The ROM script will set all the partitions, mounts, permissions, etc.
Good luck!
*Above response I guess is for overall troubleshooting the ROM, if any issues present themselves.
On another note: I'm actively working on this ROM as time allows. Trying to ease the install process, correct some issues, further customize, & improve...

So I did let it sit for a long time, maybe like 30 mins, but nothing happened. So I tried again from installing from stock and repeating each step. I'm using the odin files you supplied. Same thing. I was using install Google Apps and No T-mobile apps, and interactive governor for both situations. Stuck on boot animation screen. I did not try the options you suggested above since I eventually got it to work. So while stuck on the boot animation screen, I just ended up holding the Vol down, power and home until it rebooted and said entering recovery mode and let go before it went into download mode. From there I just wiped data, and cache, which may not be necessary, and then rebooted, and everything works. Thanks.

That's odd since the installer does exactly that. But I added this to the guide. Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the tutorial. Deeply appreciate the effort you put in foraging the resources and putting all the pieces together. The rom works great and all but I can't seem to get the lockscreen to display the wallpaper. It's just black lol. The adaptive clock works however. Would be grateful if you could drop a fix for this.

Your stock oreo should work without issues but I always flash his stock firmware just in case(it's smoother too I think). And no, it doesnt require an unlocked bootloader.
Oh and happy modding

There are a couple ways an installer can work for custom rom mods like this: start with base then remove everything we don't want. OR: delete everything then add in what we want. This rom happens to work with the latter method. You can see why the base would be so important with the first method. (Because if we don't start with a given base then we can't predict the results because we don't know what u froze or deleted). Regardless, for expected & reliable results, I would always start with an Odin flash of stock for a rom like this. Roms like this are different than vanilla AOSPs because we strip what Samsung & tmobile brewed up, and we often then refer to it as a hybrid- as opposed to vanilla aosp which would be google only & only Samsung for drivers, etc. Hope that helps.
Btw I'm working on another rom with tmobile wifi calling working. I had to start from scratch, literally to get it working. Btw I'm curious if anyone else got it to work after the fact with a custom rom. If so, PLEASE chime in & let me know. Thanks!

Just ordered razer phone 2 looking for custom os instructions.

So from what i gathered TWRP doesnt work yet on the razer phone 2 and lineage os doesnt have a build for this phone yet i gotta ask what is available for modding razer and what is the step by step to make that happen. i seen some instructions but other than root there isnt much to do.

TWRP works just fine on this device. It's installed when you fastboot flash arter97 kernel and it works perfect. He just updated it to r10. Good luck!!
Edit: as far as ROMs look around in this forum you'll find a couple of different ones in the same section as arter97 :good:
which one do you suggest? i dont see much of a selection.

Right now there really aren't any, although there are a few in development, such as AOSP. I think the initial high price, specialized hardware & relative unpopularity has not helped attract any serious development.
I've noticed that ROM development has decreased significantly in the last few years. I remember the days of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus & the HTC Evo 4G where it seemed as if there was a new ROM released every week. I think its because (a) recent Android operating systems are offering greater customization out of the box, & (b) with the new A/B partitioning scheme, it makes ROM development more difficult.
Cancel your order. Get your money back. This phone while it is awesome at gaming and has a great screen. The OS is ****ty to say the least. I have had more issues with it freezing up. Not wanting to download apps from the play store. Not allowing me to install apps that I have already downloaded on my device. Now it's showing up as the Asus Rog II. This phone is the biggest heaviest piece of **** I've ever had. I promise you if everyone knew the issues this phone has you couldn't give it away free.

Mine showed as in rog 2 the last time I reloaded the OS. It's because it searches for "phone 2" and randomly guesses. No biggie, just fix it in the settings. No issues here from playstore, if you do it's common on every Android phone and fixable by clearing the data from the app. Maybe you should reflash the stock firmware? I don't see why you would call this phone ****ty. It's basically running AOSP stock except some theming from Razer. I fixed some freezing issues by reseating the Sim and SD card that I have. This thing rocks, just saying.
I've cleared the play stores cache, data, and dalvic in every method imaginable. Even google play services. I've restored backups, flashed stock .imgs, and flashed the stock odex Ron and the deodexed rom. It doesn't start failing to install play store apps till after I initially install most the apps I normally use then a while later when I think of one I forgot I'll go and try to install. That's when it starts messing up. If I watch a video threw some websites built in player on the webpage I'm viewing... about 15 to 20 seconds into the video everything but sound freezes. And will not correct itself. I have to hold the power button till it reboots. Only videos I can watch without issue is from the YouTube app. It's ridiculous. I've unlocked, rooted, and crack flashed tons of roms on all of my pixel and Nexus devices without any issue besides the random freeze. Which can be quickly fixed by toggling the screen on and off. This **** is ridiculous. So over this phone.
matt that might be just you i havent experienced any issues with this phone whatsoever.

The freezing is due to a bug in Google Chrome. All you have to do to fix this issue is roll back the app version to 72 because version 76 doesn't work on our RP2.
Edit: uncheck auto update
Only freeze I had so far was with the infamous switch switch to the tele lens. Not a single other issue with software.
Other question, if you put the display at 120hz, and you scroll something, does it 'feel' like your finger sticks to text/icons?
I mean, is there no delay like you normally would have at 60hz?
On the Oneplus 7 Pro the 90hz is already a big improvement (less delay) but 120 should really be kickass... anyone?

Take this with a grain of salt, as I just got the RP2, but its the most responsive, "sticky" feeling Android phone I've used. 120hz is like night and day to me.
On a related note, Firefox Fenix with webrender enabled feels significantly more responsive than Chromium atm, as it seemingly renders the whole page instead of stuttering as you scroll like Chrome.

So are you on the global version? If so let it update to MR2 and fastboot flash boot arter97 r12 and you'll be just fine.
Which version are you running then to get stuck on boot logo?
Edit: if you want to stay on MR1 then flash arter97 r11
i tried updating to mr2 but says installation failed.
all i do is
faatboot flash boot kernal.img?
I just rooted MR2 to show you. It took me less than 5 minutes to do the whole process of fastboot flashing kernel booting straight into TWRP recovery which is included then installing magisk immediately rebooting into system and updated magisk. Done

My only question is, which version zip of magisk did you use in TWRP to flash? 20 or the latest beta? I'm rooted now with a modded boot.img that someone else used the canary/latest beta. Just don't want to screw myself and end up having to flash mr1 again then taking the update.
