Guys, any .CHM readers for honeycomb ?
I have found a few and they are either crappy or force a small screen

I'm using Cool Reader. It seems to do the job but I don't look at chm files frequently.
I found iReader to work well. Had CHM reader for my phone, but it doesn't scale up on the Xoom. iReader does.

I heard the adobe pdf reader for android was actually a very nice app. The color nook is my first dive into the android tablet scene, so I wasn't sure how to check and see what app the nook was already using before I began my search for the perfect android pdf reader.

i've been using RepliGo, which i like.. but i am going to switch over to Aldiko when 2.0 comes out with PDF support.
I've tried the default one, the official adobe app, and Repligo.. none of them work very well on my nc. All seem very sluggish and navigate poorly. I've taken to converting pdfs to epubs and using fbreader instead.

To answer the original question, the default reader is a stripped-down version of QuickPDF. I've installed Documents to Go and use that reader.
Is Adobe Reader too obvious to mention here? I think it is the fastest and smoothest PDF reader out there, I find it excellent on the Nook, much better than any other option I've tried.
In landscape mode, if you set it to view full-screen, you can easily drag scroll up and down on the page, and then just tap left or right to turn pages -- fast, simple, literally works perfect for reading. The only drawback is to change reading modes you need SoftKeys or something to press the MENU button since the taskbar is hidden.
But... adobe doesn't save progress and there is no bookmark option
downloaded and installed the adobe reader from the app store today (first install - Yay!).
and found the application so much snappier than the built in NC pdf reader.
I will look into the other suggestions, but given simple birthing pains so far (just have to get use to the interface), I am very impressed so far.
ezpdfreader is the best I've tried. The "Reader" app that's built into the NC works very well (has bookmarking, reflow, etc...) but doesn't do landscape mode, and you can only get to it by using a file manager (otherwise, the file opens in QuickOffice lite).
The only thing I don't like about ezpdf is that it won't do continuous paging. I want to be able to drag my way through the book.
I'm using ezpdf now. When I open a PDF it shows the page flow at the bottom which I can flick to fly through pages.
I like this one better than repligo now, btw

What can I use that does save my place? Or do I just need to convert my pdf's?
Ezpdf and repligo save progress, or at least that's been my experience

Wow what can i say now: i have installed both adobe and ezpdf on the bc now. Loving them both. Just have to get use to them.. so much better than the stock bn pdf reader. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, and the one for tapatalk to access the forums here. It truly makes the bc what i got it for: to read my tech books and manuals a pleasurable experience.
I really feel this was money well spent.
Has anyone found a universal e-reader that can read both Mobi and Epub formats? My collection of books for the nook color include both and I'd rather just go with 1 reader instead of 2 if I could. If there isn't such a thing what readers would you guys suggest for a CM7 rooted NC? Thanks for the help!
I think Cool Reader supports both, I never tried it so can't say for sure

Why not just download Calibre to your PC and let it manage your books. Does all the translations for you

Seconded. Converting Mobi to epub is a snap in calibre, and then you can choose your own e-reader. I recommend Aldiko, personally. It has a lot going for it over the nook app.

This may be hard to believe but not everyone has a PC in front of them 24/7.
Cool Reader is very good for mobi files.

You don't have to have a pc in front of you all the time....just long enough to convert your existing mobi files. Takes about 30 seconds each. Thus the use of the word CONVERT, rather than READ.

It is? I have yet to get the Market version to open a single non-DRM one, regardless of whether the extension is .mobi or .prc - despite this ability being touted on the Market page (but strangely not the official home page).

DaoCaoXie Reader claims to handle both epub and mobi formats although I use Calibre and have never needed to test the mobi functionality.
I have to say I've tried all the eReaders going on Android and like DaoCaoXie Reader the best. It has its limitations; searching is non-existent and it can import only 80 books. But for easy reading with nice page transitions; full brightness and font control I like this one a lot.
[edit] I've just looked up info on DaoCaoXie Reader and it seems that automatic import is limited to 80 books, not the whole library.[/edit]
I tried almost all the readers before settling for FBReader. It says it supports mobi but I always use ePub. For me it was the easiest to use and is most flexible. The default formatting wasn't great but I could quickly change the font, line spacing and margins to get it to look exactly how I liked. For what I like it beats every reader software in my book, including the Nook Color stock reader.
No affiliations, just a satisfied user.
I also use FBReader, but haven't tried the .mobi because I already converted all my .mobi to .epub (and any new books I just buy in .epub).
I also like FBReader because of the FBSync app that lets me keep it synced with my Thunderbolt. That is the reason I switched from Aldiko.

Well for a thread about reading .mobi eBooks ... good comment. Especially the more so because FbReader, by its own admission doesn't do .mobi.
FbReader is, IMHO, awkward, clunky and ugly ...but if thats what you want - go for it.

As to FBReader being "clunky" - that is indeed your opinion. I find it it no more clunky than Aldiko or other readers, and the FBSync option makes it much less "clunky" in actual use for my purposes than other readers.
I use ireader for drm'd .prc / mobi books (some work, some don't) can't recall if it supports epub though.
I also had books in various formats. After trying many different options to read .mobi books. I finally decided the quickest and easiest thing to do was use Calibre to convert everything to .epub I'm also using a Calibre app to import my books from PC to the SD card on my NC and have found that to be much easier than mounting my Nook every time I wanted to upload a new book.
I purchased Laputa, Aldiko and tried several others but have decided that my favorite ereader for managing my large library is Moon+ Reader. I find the layout easy to navigate, the options are plentiful, developer is responsive and I really enjoy the page turning animation.

Yes, I agree Moon Reader is most excellent and certainly worthy of everyone's consideration. I used it for quite a while before landing on my current favourite;DaoCaoXie
Also agree that Calibre just sorts alomost everything out. It doesnt handle comics very well though. 'Perfect Viewer' is the best of the current bunch for cbz files.

I use iReader. It handles encryped .mobi, .prc, ereader, etc and stores your keys in a wallet so new titles downloaded with an existing key open automatically.
it's great if you've been stuck with a bunch of fictionwise or peanutpress files you can't read anymore!
I know that there are many reviews for popular ebook reader apps for android (a couple of which are even preinstalled on the stock rom), but i wanted to see how the sgt7 community liked the speed and UI of them specifically on this hardware due to having strange size and resolution comparatively to android tablets (usually 10.1" at 1024x800) or phones which are typically <4.3" at much lower resolutions.
I have a pretty large ebook collection that is a combination of pdf and epub files so i don't really care about downloading books from a market so the services that come with nook, kindle, Kohorn, and Google books apps don't really do anything for me, although ive read that they are also capable readers that can still store and use epub files well so i won't discount them if they are well liked for this application.
Tl;Dr: what's the best ebook reader application for the sgt7 that can open and read epub and preferably PDF files with speed, style, and ease? Id also like text highlighting, bookmarking, and resuming the last open page when opening a book as well as a "collection of book covers and titles" view rather than having to use a filesystem browser if possible. - in the end, something like ibooks for android only faster preferably.

You can try Aldiko Premium edition... it is very nice book reader with support from pdf as well epub with additional features like highlight, dictonary and bookmark.
I tried so many PDF readers and I think Repligo reader was the best one for my needs. works in landscape/portrait. Makes ebook easy to read, saves where you left off, it's very fast compared to most and there are some editing options if needed.

I really like Kobo, but the "Night View" option doesn't work properly on my Tab. The screen goes black, the headline red but the text doesn't appear at all.
I also have fond memories of the Moon+ Reader on my phone but after I started using Kobo on that, I uninstalled Moon+.
There was an app called Reader or EReader on the Evo 3D. It was an ebook reader. I see the One doesn't come with an ebook reader. I went into System > App on my 3VO and extracted EReader.apk and EReader.odex. Is there some way I could make this program work on my One without rooting?
I know there's various different ebook readers in the market, but I really enjoyed this one, and would like to attempt to get it working on the One.
Isn't there a way to take these two files and make them one that would install like any other app?
I'm using FBReader for eBooks (generally .epub from when I had a PRST1) but it doesn't support pdf files as far as I can tell. The stock Nook reader is even worse for pdfs then it is for epubs! What would people recommend?
My required features:
Orientation switching (landscape/portrait)
Cropping (not display/cut out dead space around poorly presented pdfs)
Aardict dictionary integration. (I use Aardict with offline Wikipedia and Wikitionary for lookup and read quite a few technical books and journals, which are generally in pdf format, so this one is pretty important to me.)
I've seen a user created one in the Nook NST Developer forum which meets the first two, but sure most do... Anybody able to give me a recommendation that matches all three?

I don't know about Aardict, and all pdf readers have their issues. But Ebookdroid is an interesting option.

Which version did you install? I've tried both the latest 2.1.9 and earlier (last open source) 1.6.6 and neither want to install on my device!

How about Orion Viewer? It meets your first two requirements (multi-touch pinch zoom works also) and it's supposed to support external dictionaries.
I like its behavior on my NST.

The last version of ebookdroid that work on the NST is 1.5.7, it's available on the play store.
ebookdroid can auto-crop pdfs and djvus to fit the screen, which is a killer feature IMO.
Got 1.5.7 installed thanks. Instantly text is more readable and sharper than with the stock reader!! Fiddly to get it to actually go to full with portrait but at least it can when I need to
I don't seem to be able to see how you would set a dictionary though. (Or even select anything.) Did it maybe come at a later release? Or am I missing something obvious?
EBookDroid and Orion would be my two recommendations as well.
