So, i send texts.. .very very often. And ive noticed that half my texts now dont send :S
Not exactly half but every now and then, (atleast every fifth message), a message doesnt send and i have to manually retry it. Im on Pheonix unleashed rom and using handcent (although the problem still ocured with the stock messaging app)
any suggestions? it really annoys me when i have to resend it

Which one would you recommend? Im a rogers user and pheonix comes with the rogers jk4 modem :S so yeahh
any names on a modem to use would help
Couldn't tell you man, I'm in tennessee I have no clue what kind of reception you'll have up there Jk4 works for me down here. Just try a few make sure it's an i9000 modem though.

Go to development, look for q4-q1 modem thread (if your mobile, it's under stickies tab in dev). They have all the modems we can use.

I am unable to receive MMS since I started using CM 4.0.4 a few weeks ago. I can send it without a problem. My friend sent me 10 MMS, I only received 2. Is there any reason for this or is it just a problem with the ROM? Neither the stock Messaging app is getting it or ChompSMS. I have tried it with auto-retrieve both on and off.

Could be a network thing ... but to make sure send your self 2 mms and see if they come back .I think this resets something in your carrier's servers
just open your messaging app put your number in select a pic and send
Ive already tried that, I receive the message from myself. But anyone else, I dont receive or only receive every once in a while.
call up tmobile and have them check your settings on their end, don't tell them your running a custom rom ...
i would say just reflash since it was working and stopped, (off topic) my g1's accelerometer stopped working out of nowhere so i reflashed 4.0.4 and it worked like a charm. hope this does it for you

well, im 99% sure its because I am running a custom ROM in addition with the MMS.apk modded (not by me, just came in the ROM). Im flashing to 4.1999

Hi, I am a recently registered user but a longtime "lurker" on the Opal section of xda.
I've bought my girlfriend an opal, roughly a year ago, and in three months or so she started complaining about some issues of the phone:
- From time to time she cannot send me SMSs, she just keep receiving the "cannot send sms" error
When this happens, she usually:
- Cannot establish an outgoing call, and more important,
- She cannot even receive any incoming call despite the mobile being connected to the network, and free, so that the caller just get a "no answer" while she doesn't even have neither a missed call report nor any ringtone deployed.
- Receive incoming SMSs
I've already tried to solve the problem in various different ways, including(of course) looking for help in existing threads, flashing a new rom on the phone resetting more than once.
I'm just stuck on a dead point, as of now.
Do you have an idea on how to solve such issues?
The only "fix" we found was to activate airplane mode then deactivate it to restart the network connection.
I think it is something related to the radio part of the OS but i couldn't find different radios to flash on.

your problem is contained into 2 possibilities:
Your Network Setting (the SMS provider number)
Your OS (most propable)
I guess the best remedy is to use the official ROM (WM 6.1 Professional). You may have used unstable ROMs that caused such a mess.
Unfortunately, I merely found the Arabic ROM (It can be changed to English from (Settings>> Multilanguage Support).

I checked more than once the provider settings, including the sms service center. Actually if it is not correct, she'd never be able to send messages, while the "hangs" are just...random.
On the os side, i think it's not a matter of roms, mainly because i flashed as a consequence of months of frustration with the original rom.
Any other ideas?

it happens to me sometimes, when a message will just not go. i think its network/radio related, but it happens to me very less. i havent seen any radio's either.

Hey there. I cant help but laugh, I had the exact same problem when i first got my phone and I used to think its a problem with the network but it isn't, if you haven't changed the stock OS/ROM, thats your issue, Flash an new ROM and it should resolve your problem.
(I recommend the pajerm RC3 ROM)
(Take care to backup all data, use outlook to backup all your contacts and stuff).
If that doesn't resolve your problem, post back. Best o' luck.

Okay this issue is rather different, What is certain is that the issue is not on the software side. Either your phone is konk or its the service, check the same SIM on a different phone, see if you face the same issue, if you do then its your network (which I know You said is unlikely, but no harm in making sure right?) If on the other hand, the phone works perfectly fine, then you have a problem with your phone's hardware in which case you need to get it check and probably serviced, worst case, get the handset replaced (if its under warranty).

Dont lock your phone with the default windows lock.....(use S2U2)
I know its strange but this helps, and do restart your phone every third day....
Issue Not Solved, but figured out
The HTC opal is sort of incompatible with certain carriers around the world, and this issue does not apply to all opals, only some of them have an issue. For example my phone has this issue with Airtel in my country. The phone seems to work fine with every other carrier. I think I might have to change my damn network again!

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. I just flashed cog 3.04 from 2.8. I now cannot send or receive mms messages unless my wi-fi is turned off. Any suggestions?

mms messages are sent over your cell data connection...not sure why it would not be enabling it automatically but that is the problem.
what provider are you with?
My mms stopped working with rogers. Check your apn settings. for some reason mine had 2 letters backwards.
SetTings, wireless and networks, mobile networks, access point names. google your provider apn settings to see what they should be set to.
Edit: didnt read the last bit of your post lol. If it only works with wifi turned off im not sure. I use to have a separate apn for data and mms, but now there is 1 for both, does anyone know if by turning on wifi and disabling your data connection could disable both if your data and mms are both in the same apn? Just a thought...

The mms app should enable the data connection automatically to send the message. you need to ask what is up in the rom thread and see if there is a fix.
I tried posting there twice and no one answered my question. I think I may just flash another Rom. I can't post there anymore because of post count restrictions.
It is pretty annoying to have to toggle wi-fi on and off to send a mms. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it, though.
Head over to the ban the person above you thread....or the count to 10,000 one....your restriction will be gone in no time.
I have similair problems. I can recieve but cant send. its been like that since yesterday. just started out of the blue I was running cog.3.2 then flashed to 3.4 no luck. then flashed perception 10.2 and still no luck. going to odin my phone back to stock and go from there. lately my phone has been having problems with reception and sending texts. Its been on going since I flashed to cog 2.8.
I really like cognition, but the bug is annoying! LOL! I am sure he will get it fixed, I just thought I had done something wrong in flashing it.
so as a update, I Odin flashed to stock still no good on sending out text messages. flashed back to cog 3.04 and tried a couple of different modems such as ji1,ji2,ji3,jk6 and still no luck. I'm begining to think something went wrong with my plan or my sim.
Issues with Cognition 3.04
I had installed cognition 3.04 and have been using it for the past couple of days.... the performance compared to conginition v2.8b is faster. Also some issues that i have is my data connectivity keeps dropping.
The other issues that i have is when i have data connectivity on it keeps popping up and displays "call cost" every few minutes where it does not get deducted from my balance. Please let me know how to go about resolving the issue.

isolated my problem to be a sim card issue. swapped out sim cards with a buddy and all functions started working. called customer service and then got sent to tech support. they also came to that conculsion. visit to at&t and one free sim card, I'm back in business
On my captivate when i text somone, on my phone it clearly says "sent" but the other person has often told me that he/she has not received anything...
this happens abouy once every 20 texts. i use the stock messaging app that comes with the apex rom.
also another thing that happens is that i get the text 2-3 hours later than when the other person sent it. this happens less, but its still very annoying.
any permanent or temporary(cause i may switch to verizon soon) solutions are welcome. thanks

how long have you suspected the problem?
have you checked your apn settings? btw what carrier are you? what country are you? might want to fill out your xda user info and signature since you have 300 posts... it would answer some of the questions i had.
the more info we have, the more we can do.
He said Apex, which could mean a few things, but assuming he's on the latest release, that means "DC 4.0 JVS Kernel" and the KC1 modem

ATT does that; I'm presuming that it's because their network is terrible.
I've had this problem with both the Captivate on various ROMs and the Inspire 4G on stock.
I have yet to find a solution, unfortunately.
I had a similar issue when I went to the fasty rom...it ended that the apn number didn't get transferred....just Google it and u find a list of numbers for what ever region your in. Then go to apn settings and manually had the number

yesterday i've just flashed the ICS DDLPA firmware (népal version NPL), over my french stock GB version. every thing rock, absolutly no problème but today i saw in my mobil bill one SMS send to +918527121333 (it's international india number).
i've got no trace of it, it was auto send and cost me 19cts €...
so it very strange...
it is a sort of auto config sms?
can indi people could light me over this?
I have hear earlier same, May be this SMS sents to samsung india while you configuring Note first time. Just check timing in bill does it same time when you have finished configuration.
the sms timming is matching perfectly with the moment i flash the DDLPA.

PS. I just did and nothing happened, two clicks and auto disconnect, hope it does not ruin my home budget
