cannot root with superoneclick? - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i need to unlock bootloader of my galaxy tab so i need to root first and so i selected exploit (psneuter) and rooted with superoneclick and then when i copy patch to tab and run it it says "This application requires superuser(root) to function"
Can anyone help me?

Get SuperOneClick v1.8beta under @ Android Apps and Games. It can root and/or market fix. Read my post towards the end for instructions on how to make it work.

Root Galaxy Tab w/ z4

I searched a little for this but couldn't quite find an answer. I have a Galaxy Tab SCH-1800 on Verizon Wireless. I was trying to us z4 1.3 to root it. I hit permanent root and it runs for awhile and then it exits Z4 Root. It never goes back to the program either. I have to go to the z4 icon and open it from there. When I tap the icon, I get a blank screen and then a force close. How do you recommend I root my Galaxy? I was hoping to use z4. That's what I used to root my Droid X. Thanks for your time.

DO you know if it's actually rooted? Try downloading a root-required app. Maybe it is already rooted.
Use the superoneclick app. You can download it here in the forum somewhere.
To know if it's rooted. Download the root check app from the market, and then run it.

I don't know if XDA has any policy about linking to other forums, but I used this guide to root my Verizon Tab. I have had no problems whatsoever since I did this. It shows you how to restore to a rooted stock firmware, and update to an modified kernel for the latest version of the stock rom.

[Q] How to tell if your Tab is already Rooted?

I just bought an AT&T Galaxy tab that was supposedly rooted ti 2.2. How do I verify this?
Download a terminal emulator and type su.
If you get a request to grant access to super user, it's rooted. If not... Than it's not.
Our download the super user app and try to run it...

If the rooting worked, you should also have the super user program installed.

Superuser app is an andrpid skull and crossed bones. If you have it, tap it to open it.
you can also use "Zroot"
If the button shows "Unroot" your Tab is already rooted, but if it shows "Root", you need to root it.
Of course for rooting Gingerbread you can't use "Zroot". I used "SuperOneClick"

[Q] SuperOneClick not giving Root

Before I get into it, I'm not sure if this is the best section for this. I posted here because it's a Samsung Captivate I am using and this is a question.
Anyway, I used a video to root my Captivate. I downloaded SuperOneClick, the USB Drivers for Captivate and .NET Framework. Everything went well and it said my phone was rooted successfully. Well, I used Root Check and Term Emulator and both said my phone was, infact, not rooted.
I also have the SuperUser app on my phone. I then proceeded to try again, where I got the error that my Captivate was already rooted. I used psneuter exploit to root. Now, I'm attempted to unroot my phone, where SuperOneClick seems to be frozen at "Waiting for device.."
After I unroot, what should I change or try?
Did you enable USB debugging from your phone? Give me more details on your rom and other stuff.
Also if your on gingerbread the one click root doesn't work on some gingy builds

Download any app from the market that requires root. Try to use it. If it works, your rooted, if not something is wrong.

Galaxy tab 10,1 rooted - unrooted

I rooted my galaxy tab a little bit ago and everything went great and i also installed the galaxy task 9.0 rom and i'm on android 3.2 but what i was wanting to know is how my galaxy tab became unrooted? I dont know what i could have done to make it do that but i even got root checker pro from the market and it says that i'm not rooted anymore but busybox is installed so i know it had to be rooted at some point for me to get that on their. What can i do to root it again? I tried to flash the galaxy tab 10.1 root rom back to the tab and it didnt work. If anybody can help me out, that would be great, thanks a million.

Hello,
In the new ROM what you have installed the kernel was not modified (pre-rooted). Busybox alone will not help you in this. Busybox is just a toolset. A mini linux from where necessary system commands can be executed. For example su which logs in an executes the program or command as root. It can execute successfully if the kernel is rooted also.
I suggest to browse the other threads because there should be a rooted kernel for that ROM. Download that kernel and install it.
Thanks for the info, i'll check it out

[Q] Root problem on XT894 from Verizon

Hello,
i bought an XT894 from USA, it is coming with 4.0.4 ICS installed. I would like to install cyanogenmod, but i saw the guide and it is for 4.1.2. So i tried to update the phone (from android) and it says there are some errors. I tried to root it using "ics404root" and it says that phone is rooted, but root checker says "Sorry! the device does not have proper root access.". What should i do? If the phone is not rooted i can't install safestrap
