Rogers captivate, froyo?

I am happily on a nexus s... and in the past, I have rooted and flashed the nexus one, desire hd, galaxy tab and now my nexus s... however, I have a friend that has a rogers captivate... and he just wants to run froyo....
is it safe to assume, it is just as easy as rooting and flashing a custom rom?
Any links or suggestions appreciated, I never care when I tinker with MY devices... but this is a friends.... thx in advance

Short answer to your question is yes it that easy. The link its to the dev forum. There are too many options and choices, best to read and make an informed decision
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
are you talking about the roms? What is the easiest method of gaining root access on the capitivate? thx
I guess I will read up on it once I have his phone in front of me!
thx
Yeah, it's really just as easy as following the steps. If the Cappy is fairly new it seems it won't have the issues that plagued the earlier runs of this phone so just pick a ROM and go for it.

[Q] i9010 and ROM Manager

Hi,
When I open ROM Manager on my Armani i9010 it asks to confirm what Galaxy S model I am using but the i9010 isn't listed.
What should I choose? The Captivate?
Thanks.
Yeah- just flash the one for the Captivate.

Cheers.
Should I assume for everything its basically the i897 Captivate? Even though the i9010 code is closer to the Euro Galaxy S?
I assume I'll need to stick with the i897 because of the button layouts?
To be clear- I was speaking only about flashing Clockwork Recovery using ROM Manager. I'm not sure how to answer your second question.
I hope I don't seem rude- I just don't know the answer to that question and I don't want to help you screw up your device.

[Q] ICS for SGS+

Hey Guys,
please excuse my bad english and my stupid questions.
I am not very good in the development things and I don't have much know-how, so I have to post "unnecessary" questions.
I am waiting for ICS for my Samsung Galaxy S Plus, currently running Android 2.3.5. I know that an official version won't be released, so I need a Rom.
At first, I thought that a SGS + is just a "tuned" version of the I9000, but I think this is wrong. So I can't use a I9000- Rom for my I9001.
But is there a rom currently in development? Is somebody portating the I9000 Roms for the I9001?
I can't find another thread to post my question. This is simply:
How can I get a working Rom of ICS for my SGS + (I9001)?
Thank you for your replies and your "patience",
Daniel

Wait until one or more ROM developers (dev, devs) port an existing ICS ROM to I9001.
Ah, okay, now I've understood. Does it need a long time until such a port exists? I've seen lots of Roms for the I9000, but no one for the I)001... is there no Dev Team that is interested in a port for the 9001? Or is it easyer to take a 9000 rom and port it for the 9001 because it i quite similar!?
dev=developer...
