I'm having troubles connecting to 3G with my IS. Up until a few days ago I had an HTC Desire Z that was unlocked, and rooted. It worked great on rogers 3G.
I'm lost as what to try. I've accessed the *#*#4636#*#* menu, and tried GSM auto (PRL), and I end up getting 3G but then it drops. The only way I seem to be able to keep the data connection is to set it to GSM only which gives me 2G/edge
anyone know what else I can try?
Thanks
Have you added an APN for Rogers?

It's under Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
I'm using a Bell Incredible S on Telus after entering the relevant Telus APN settings, and get the HSPA/3G icon.
well I got it working. When I checked the APN, the MMS proxy ip was missing. I did have it all in there correct before though. I guess from the *#*#4636#*#* menu switching settings in there trying to get it up deleted the proxy ip?
Either way, it's working great. Thanks for the reply thedosbox

I am brand new to this site and this is my first post so please bear with a newbie. Just got a great deal online for a new Rogers HTC Dream. I bought an unlock code in order to use the phone with Telus my current carrier. I bought a sim card and had my plan changed to a data plan. Now here's the part that is frustrating me, I can not access the Telus data network. The phone works fine for phoning and text messaging, wifi works great, but if I try to access mobile data network I get "No network Connection". I checked with Telus added the Telus APN settings and set as default and still no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Do you have a 3G or H icon in the Notification bar?
Unfortunately I have neither.
Try getting the Telus APN settings. Then go to APN settings and add it in. This SHOULD work.
APNhav
I called Telus tech support, HTC support and setup the Telus apn and it is set as the default all before posting here. However I still can't access the data network. Will I have to root the phone in order to access the data network?
I was messing around with the settings and I went into settings, wireless & network settings, mobile networks, network operators, and I registered with a network (Bell) and now I can't get any service. The "Use only 2G networks" checkbox is always checked and when I dial *#*#4636#*#*, it shows I'm using GSM preferred networking.
What can I do?
My carrier is Bell Canada btw.
Back in the testing app, change GSM Preferred to WCDMA Preferred or GSM Auto (PRL)
Tried that, it changes itself back and i still can't connect.
Should note that when I try to register on Bell, it just says "your sim card does not allow you to register on this network"
As you may or may not know, Bell does not have a 2G network. So if "Use only 2G networks" is checked, you wont get any service. Are you saying that you cannot uncheck this? I think it's usually best to let the phone select which network to use automatically instead of telling it to specifically use Bell.
If none of this is working, then it might just be an issue with Bells network that will resolve itself eventually.

Yeah, I'm aware Bell has no 2G network, but when I go to uncheck the box, it'll recheck itself in a few seconds.
Strange... all I can guess is that Bell is having network issues. If you can call them from a different phone they might be able to confirm that. You couldn't have broken your phone by playing around with those settings.

Yeah you were right, there was something wrong with bell's network. It's all good now.

I've just upgraded from 2.2, and now I can't seem to get 3G working with AT&T. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've tried fiddling with the Settings but nothing seems to work. Help is appreciated, thanks.
In the About Device, the Mobile network type listed is HSDPA, but the Mobile network state is Disconnected.
Have you checked your APN settings? Also what's your baseband version showing in 'About device'?
Please use WCDMA mode
Go to Settings, Wireless & Network, Mobile Networks, Access Point names and make sure you have one called Broadband (assuming you are on the ATT monthly data only plan)
If you dont, create a new APN and name it Broadband & make the APN Broadband as well. Just leave the other options and save it & select it.
I think by default it comes up with the ATT wap.cingular APN which doesnt work with the Tab Data plan.
Flash the bell modem then set the apn to get data and phone working after flashing stock 2.3.3?

Thank you so much! This worked! Just did this and restarted.
so i got my tablet back up and running, but its not showing any signs of Cellular life
i flashed CWM7 and i have it up and functioning. i have the stock AT&T modem from the [MODEMS] list, should i apply a different one?
i have the APN settings correct, however, i'm not sure why the tab isnt registering on the network?
i just wanted to post a quick update on this.
i did have wrong APN settings :/ i was using a APN for a phone vs just mobile broadband data.
Now that you fine folks got s-off working on version 4.4.2 for the HTC One, I was able to put Cyanogenmod on it today. Things seem to work okay, except for the one glaring issue: I can't use the phone to make or get calls. If I look at Settings->About Phone->Status, I get this:
Network - Verizon Wireless
Mobile network type - LTE
Service state - Voiceut of Service / Data: In Service
Roaming - Not roaming
Mobile network state - Disconnected
I suspect that I might have the wrong "Mobile networks" settings in the Settings->Wireless & Networks->More section. For the Preferred network type, I selected "GSM/WCDMA/LTE", but I've tried a few others with no positive effects. For System Select, I'm set to Home Only. If I try to search for available networks, it returns an error and doesn't find any.
Any ideas? Thanks!
I was reading more into this, and people on Sprint found this issue when using Cyanogenmod last summer. I don't know if a solution was found, but the workaround was switching the network type to CDMA only, and then switching "back." The "back" is the key for me (I hope). What should it be set to? I don't remember what it was before I started messing around. It may have been global, but I tried that to no avail. Does anyone have a minute to pop into their settings and check? Thanks!
