[REVIEW] Proporta Aluminium Lined Leather Pouch - Nexus S Accessories

EDIT : Review uploaded
see next post

Before I start my review here are some details
Description
The Aluminium Lined Leather Pouch for the Samsung Google Nexus S is hand-crafted from the finest quality leather. It is custom-made to the exact specifications of the Samsung Google Nexus S, and finished with a stylish pinstripe interior. The leather pouch is as good looking as it is tough, with an aluminium protective lining for extra strength, which adds almost no weight or bulk to the Samsung Google Nexus S. A handy pull out tab makes removing your device as easy as can be.

The packaging is really nicely made where after u cut the seal you can easily open it like a book. Whats better u can always close it and its hold together by magnet what is inside in the middle where is the seal - black strip on right with " Lifetime Warranty" text.

Actually, the size is perfect for Nexus S. Its not too big either small. The phone slide in after few times pretty easy and taking it out is so easy thanks to that pull out tab

So not ' custom made to exact dimensions' then
There is a small difference in size between the two handsets, DHD is 5mm wider and 1mm longer ... but obviously Nexus can fit ok inside a case made for the DHD as it is smaller.

exactly as u said
cos the NS is smaller its fit just perfect where DHD u probably find some difficulties to fit it in for few days until worn a bit and get a better fit

Thanks for the review. Personally, I would still go with the 3$ Android model pouch I have from eBay.

[Review] Seidio Active Case

Today before lunch, I got in the Seidio Active case with front cover/kickstand. It's much like the Kindle Fire case I had. So I am glad that I now have it protecting my N7.
As you can see it is the black version. All the cutouts are there EXCEPT for the POGO Pins. But I see it as if you are going to use the POGO pins, you HAVE to remove the case to use a POGO device, so I am am ok with covering it up at this time.
The case comes in three parts, the rubber polymer, hard exterior skeleton, and the mounting cover. The rubber does attract dust especially when brand new out of the box lol, but after a while, the dust and debris will get easier to wipe off with your hand. The front cover can be slipped on the back of the case for convenience and IMO added protection. And there is no magnets to speak of. Which is ok, IMO, I'll just use my volume rockers to turn it on, which I do anyway.
If you have any Seidio products on any of your devices, this does not disappoint. All the cutouts are there and the front camera is clear from the rubber exterior as well. Without the front cover, the Nexus 7 is comfy in my hand and i can see gaming on this more and more...if my 4 year old is not hogging it up lol....
To sum it up, the case is what I expected from Seidio and the quality of their cases. I have been a repeat customer for years and I forsee that I may be again when I get my next device, whatever that may be.
Any questions please ask! Here are the pics starting with unboxing without the N7 installed....enjoy!
Posting the pics, I came to the realization that my desk is mighty dusty! I apologize for that in advance ROFL
Also forgot to give the official link, my bad...http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BD2-CSK3ASN7-BK
Available in colors: Red, Blue, White and Black

Thanks for the review.. thinking about picking up one of these too. Is it bulky? Does it add alot of thickness/weight?

I answered those generally in the other Seidio thread but forgot to post the question and answers here, so here it goes:
1. Is it bulky?
Ans: No more bulkier than my Treegloo case. It actually feels thinner than the treegloo and Kindle Fire version IMO, that's without the front cover on the back :cyclops:.
2. Does it add to the thickness/weight?
Ans: It does seem a bit heavier. I think it has to do with the skeleton and rubber combo. But it feels comfortable in the hand because of the rubber exterior IMO. Is it thick? See answer one lol...well if you are coming from a naked N7 then this would be a major step but also major protection IMO.
Hope that helps a bit! :fingers-crossed:

I took some pics showing the difference in thickness (with measurements) with the case and cover part way down this page, also near the bottom I posted the weight of the bare 7, with case and with case/cover.

Is it me, or the case is somewhat "curvy"? Especially in you last picture, it looks like the rubber doesn't make straight lines around the screen.

I see what you mean. Keep in mind I had just put the case on prior in taking pics. As of now the case has "settled" around the device. Ill try to take a comparison pic.

Hmm...looks the same doesn't it? LOL. In the pics I see what you are saying but when looking at it, it looks ok to me lol.
Having a closer look, it looks like there's some barrel distortion with your camera, as even the screen itself isn't fully square. The case is probably fine (and the lines do look smoother in the more recent picture).
Can you use the harder protective back to cover the front of the screen?

Nice. This is definitely on my to buy list. Been waiting for a tough case to come out since I bought it.
Got mine and am not disappointed in the least. Pretty much great in every way. Highly recommended.
I am interested in this case as well. Could someone get a pic of the case and tab side by side laying flat on a desk/table? I'm trying to get a feel for how much thicker it ends up being with the top on it. Thanks

"Otterbox Commuter" Mod with a Kickstand

Otterbox offers some of the best protection cases for devices. It rarely incorporates kickstands as part of the main casing. This shows you how I managed to splice in a thin kickstand from another casing. This saves you from carrying those stands so you can watch videos hands-free.
The "Otherbox Commuter" case you see here is an exact $5 replica done by a company called Swisstech in one of their kiosk stores here in Metro Manila. The original Otterbox Commuter cost $70 retail here.

The TPU case with the kick stand actually cost more at about $9!
You can exact the process with the original Commuter case if you want to do this.
This will give you peace of mind for accidental drops but giving you that kickstand function but still as thin.
Here's the video link of the finished case:

That's a lot of work for a single position kickstand. I just attached this kickstand to my case and I love it:

Nah, the point of the project was to really put the stand inside and not be just anything that I put on to the surface of the case. The 3 hours I put into this paid of so that it can still fit into my book hiding place for the Note II.

I've been to the Philippines twice and love it. It's not that it's so dangerous that you will get robbed blindly down the street, it's that items of value are less common, so you could get swiped in the most inopportune times. In the US or other locations, it's more common to see expensive gadgets. There is a lot of poverty in the Philippines and in regions of the world like that, it's very common.
It doesn't suck because you grow up knowing that's the way things are there.
ANYWAY, back on topic. Is there any way to get a Swiss-Tech case online? Was looking and it seems there is no way to get them. I like the price and the difference in look from the "Otterbox".
I'm all for making mods where necessary, but a similar case with a stand already built in seems easier.
This one is $7. My wife and I have them in different colors. They're great.

yeah, 4-5 bucks delivered isn't bad, but anything more is silly
Id just go for a otterbox defender case. Super tough case plus the clip on the holsters locks open if you want to become a stand.. on the down side this case does make it a bit bulky but still protects it extremely well. .

Yes, there are reasons why is choose the Commuter over the Defender. One thing is the difficulty of changing the battery and taking out the micro SD card. I'd not be using that holster that much either. Where would I store that? I'm trying hard to conceal the Note, not actually show it off on my waist.

Not saying you wanna show it off. I only use it because I work on construct ion sites and it offers superior protection ......

I can understand needing the Defender in a construction site. I'm an architect.
The reason for me is to conceal the Note II:

And for only 17 dollars @@
We have been talking about this knock-off case for 2 weeks already in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174889
It's a fake Griffin case for Note 2, even so Griffin does NOT even make cases for Note 2. They took S3 design and scaled it up to Note 2. This is NOT waterproof case, but has one of the best protections, better than Defender. Check out my review in the link above. Plus, you can get it cheaper from www.tvc-mall.com

Pretty sweet looking case, choice of colors are good also... the holster doesnt convince me much but for the price its worth a try.. although the camera being covered might present a problem for someone who uses the camera often.
Look into my review here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174889 and also scroll down to the second post where you see a lot more pictures. Quality is superb, protection is better than Defender, built in screen protector is very functional (though have to remove inner plastic cover which I forgot to do lol!!!), the case will be very bulky with additional protection but it's meant for a heavy duty rugged use outdoors. You toss this em-effer from a 5 story building on a concrete floor and it will probably survive
Belt clip is bot as sturdy, but its a design of original Griffin Survivor. Keep in mind, Griffin does NOT make Survivor for Note 2. This is improvised knock off where S3 case was scaled up for Note 2 footprint. Camera flip is fine because it attaches on a string where you can turn it out of the way without a need to hold down the flap.

Think it's too much to hope I can buy 2 of these and mix colors? From the other fake survivor thread it seems like the quality control on these can be spotty. Do the microphone holes look much smaller on these than the ones from case parts or am i imagining things?
Also, I too am wondering about the validity of this site.

Of Aliexpress? I buy from them all the time. I have yet to have an issue with the sellers. Also, you should buy from popular sellers. Regardless, they don't get paid until you get the product in your house and release the funds. I wish I could say the same about CrapBay.
locally here in china.. 42RMB is around $6.75

I ended up ordering one locally here in china on taobao. The case is really nice and I like it alot. The only downside is the rubber that protects the camera I could do without . It is a littke bit of a hassel when you want to take a picture. Other than that well worth thr $6 usd.

i just got my dot view case in the mail and don't care what some of you may think about this case, but it's amazing. it doesn't add that much bulk like other flip cases do and yes it is a little pricey but i think it's worth it, plus if you have a discount through verizon depending on where you work, you could save some money on it. mine came to $32 after tax which is what i expected to pay for a case anyways. the sides, top, and bottom are not covered at all but the corners are. i'm sure if you drop the phone with this case there will be some sort of damage to the phone depending on how it's dropped. please keep your negative comments to yourself as nobody wants to hear them.

I received my Dot View case in the mail today and I'm disappointed with it not sitting flush on the screen when laying flat on a surface. Do all of yours lay completely flat with the front flap closed? Maybe it needs to loosen up a bit but I find it quite annoying to double tap on the screen because it doesn't sit flush.
Seen one in person at a Verizon store and fell in love immediately with it. Looked really cool and didn't add much thickness to the phone. Went up to the rep and ordered one to be shipped to the house as they were out of stock pretty much everywhere in my area.

Mine sits flat no issues here and I haven't had it for a full 24hrs so you may have gotten a defective case or try just folding it backwards for a little and see if that loosens it up some.

I like how it feels around the phone. I wish the hinge had a bit of give in regards to folding it back. Having to hold it back sucks sometimes.
I did do a review on it if you guys want to check out.

Picked up the commuter today to hold me over until i can find the dot view case.
One of the display models in the VZW store had a dot view case on it so I got some hands on with it. While it is kind of neat I don't feel it is worth the price even with my employee discount. I feel that the "holes" will fill with dirt and lint which would be difficult to clean out. If I found one for $20 or less I might pick one up to have but otherwise wouldn't buy it.
are you guys buying it from the verizon store or from somwhere else? bestbuy is all sold out everywhere it seems...

Note 5 equivalent of Peel cover for iphone?

Hi Guys,
Recently jumped ships from iphone to Note 5. I've always used the Peel skin (http://buypeel.com/) and like the minimal super thin form. Does anyone know the equivalent cover for Note 5?
Thanks
EBay 3mm case Note 5. I can't believe they charge $25 for that and people buy it.

Expensive as seoulbrova mentioned, only 2 colors available atm.

I got 4, came today and I love it! So thin and minimal, absolutely no bulk and wrap up all the metal edges in front. Smoke color looks amazing on gold note 5

Had a case very similar to this for my iPhone 6 and I loved it. Just ordered one. Looking forward to it. Might order more after I get the first one. Thanks!

Arrrggghhh ... No shipping to the US ! If someone can provide a US shipping pocket friendly option, please do. Much appreciated. I have been looking for a similar peel-like solution coming from the iphone 6 plus.
Just be mindful this case have a perfect cut for the charger port in the shape of a microUSB, so the charging cable might not get pushed all the way in and make enough contact to connect, I had to use xacto knife and cut the opening a bit wider to accommodate the plug. This has always been the case for this type of case, I had to do the same for when I had Note 3 as well, it's cheap enough to play around with =]

@Crushader Just received this, its awesome. Thank you again. Exactly what I was looking for. Your 'play around' suggestion inspired me to remove the complete lower portion with just kitchen scissors to mimic / feel like the super thin iphone 6 plus case I has earlier. It feels pretty good in hand and I can not believe how cheap it is.
@tunx good to hear!!

Sure, let me get a hold of another phone to take the pics. I will post them soon.
Never got my case from eBay in. Seller is sending another one. In the mean time I found and ordered one of these. Luckily I live in Korea. It looks like it already has the bottom trimmed to give full access to the ports.
