[Q] Boot time - Nook Color General

So how long does the NC take to boot with CM7 installed? I've read quite a bit about how it drains battery pretty badly when on standby but I was just wondering why people don't just turn the device off when its not in use.

Strange Battery Issue

Hey all, I'm new here since I just bought a used G1 on Craigslist after losing my previous phone, so this is my first Android phone. I rooted it and I've been messing around with the phone for the past week.
Everything's been working pretty well, but my battery behaves strangely. I'm current running BiffmodV2.1 on 2.22.28.25 using ezterry's kernel. I just did a clean wipe and calibrated the battery too.
The problem is, when it's sleeping (I put the end button behavior to sleep) it uses barely any battery. I leave it in sleep mode overnight and it goes down by maybe 2% tops. However, the second I start using it, the battery starts draining like crazy. It uses maybe 1% for every 1-2 mins I'm using the phone. I turned everything off (wifi, gps, data (I disabled data because I don't have a data plan), background data, sync), turned screen to dimmest, and setCPU to 528mhz. Even with all this, it still drains severely. When I use it for music with the screen off, it uses about 1% battery every 10 minutes, much better than the drain is nowhere near what it is when the screen is on (minimal use without music). When I put it to sleep with Wifi enabled, it also barely drains any battery, but same thing happens when it's awake.
Does anyone know a possible solution to this? I also recently bought a 1400mAh battery, but it's most likely coming tomorrow. The current battery is pretty old, it's the stock battery that the previous owner has been using for the past 2 years, but even then, it doesn't explain the difference in the battery drain.
TL;DR G1 battery drains like a mother when awake, uses almost no battery when asleep even with music playing. Looking for a fix.
EDIT: I also tried Super D 1.11, Chromatic, Cyanogen, and a few others. All had the same exact issue.
I'm having this exact same issue, my phone also turns off randomly when I'm using it. I didn't have this issue when using radio 2.22.27.08.

Sounds like it's time for a new battery. It cant be the rom doing it since you've flashed so many and it still does the same thing. Try out your new battery when it come I'm pretty sure that'll fix it.
Got my new battery, and things are much better. It still drains a bit fast with the screen on and doing stuff (texting, browsing, etc) but the battery life is much better now. I'm guessing the new battery fixed it!

[Q] Cooked my battery?

Hi guys
I went to sleep with my SGS on charge the other night. when i woke up it was under my pillow. The phone was red hot, and there was a message on the screen saying that charging had been suspended because the battery was too hot. It was at 86%. 50mins later it was fully discharged and switched itself off. Since then battery life has been 2-3 hours, the phone has been gettin hot during use, and the phone itself has been hanging for ages on every command and force closing on almost every app.
What the hell have i done to my phone? and is it fixable?
Thanks guys

that doesnt sound good,
You could try letting the phone drain completely till it wont switch on, then charge it via USB with the back cover off, and keep it somewhere cool whilst charging.
USB doesnt send as much power as the mains hence why it takes longer to charge, but hopefully when the phone is charged up and remains cool, you could see how you get on.
But with the motherboard being behind the battery, depending how hot it actually got, it may of done some damage, but dont think too much about that yet, show it some TLC it may just need a new battery
hopefully a new battery is all you need. You didn't try anything to extend battery lify. I see there is a method to make the phone charge the battery more. It's probably not the best idea to do this. A new battery will hopefully get you out of trouble.
I've re calibrated the battery a few times since this happened, by wiping battery stats, etc. It seems to be lasting longer each time. Four hours and it's only dropped 22% so far. It's not as hot as it was either. Hopefully a wee bit of tlc will do the job right enough. Thanks guys

good news, How thankful are you ?? enough to click our thanks buttons lol

[Q] drastic battery drain galaxy s

After a difficult update with Kies I was able to upgrade to Gingerbread.
Everything seemed to go well the first time then I found drain battery and slowing down on the system.
So I decided to make a simple wipe which reported the phone as fast as at first, but the battery still has problems.
In one night from 90% it was completely drained so today I decided to use 'Battery Calibration' made from user 'marosige'. This time in 5 hours I lost 30% of battery life using some sms, internet for 15 minutes, and playing cut the rope for 10 minutes. More or less.
However I have to see if the battery loses all of a sudden like last night which is the biggest problem.
All of this is not normal have you any advice?
Thanks in advance
Hi Fattox,
Dont worry your socks off I flash Roms quite often and this requires me to calibrate the battery. Sometimes with certain Roms I find the battery may drain quickly the first time and then things get better.
You say you have calibrated so that means the app you used should have deleted the old battery stats from your systems file. In saying that if you follow these next few step you should be ok (unless there are other issues causing the drain)
1. Make your you drain the battery fully until phone dies and can't be turned on by pressing the power button then....
2. Plug in phone and keep it off until battery is fully charged. Don't take it off charge as soon as it says full. Just let it go for about an hour more or so to ensure it's at capacity.
3. Turn phone on and use as normal until dead...
Providing there are no other issues causing the battery drain you should find your battery usage to be satisfactory. Remember to turn off wifi and gps when your not using them as well as maybe turning your screen brightness down. Anything that uses less power the better....
Hope this helps.
between the recalibration with the app and your point 1, I had the same problem: during the night the battery loose all the energy.. so strange.
All this after I upgraded to Gingerbread.
I'm going to test all this week then I'll spend my warranty.

[Q] Stock Recovery Only & Battery Life Issue

Well, after scrubbing the forums, looks like the only way to flash stock recovery is to download the full image and unzip it. Not a tremendously hard task, but still, it would be nice if there was just a stock recovery file available for those with poor internet connections.
Second, it seems as though the battery in my phone is acting up, just like my Droid 4 did. I'll charge it fully, the battery will drain over the course of the day, and then it will continue to live on critical (!) battery life for the next 5 hours until I go to bed and plug it in.
Why does it do this? Why does my phone apparently not understand the battery capacity? If my phone is getting down to the point where it says critical, with the red exclamation point in the battery icon, why does it continue to operate for 5 hours? How do I fix this?

well when your battery gets that low it kicks on battery saver and that should be why it last so long at critical.
as for the drain something is draining your battery very fast i would install gsam and try to find out what is draining your battery so fast. because i easily get a full day of use out of my phone.
Battery Saver does turn on. However I usually disable it again because it's almost always at a point where I'm listening to Pandora. Battery Saver will kick on and Pandora will stop playing songs. (Pandora is not what drains my battery all day, i only listen to it when driving)
Even with Battery Saver disabled, it lasts a stupid long time on critical.
I'll try GSAM. It still doesn't account for the misrepresentation of the battery indicator.

[Q] battery drain, random reboot and other issues

Hi,
I got my (used) note 1 about a year and a half ago. I've installed alliance rom from the get go and experienced some battery drain. At first I thought maybe it's the battery, so I got a new one. This also didn't help but as the drain wasn't significant (I wasn't even 100% sure it really was a problam), I just continued using the device. After about a year the drain got worse (wasn't a battery issue, as I checked with an almost un-used battery). I figured changing a rom might help, so I moved to CM11, after installing an official version and re-rooting the phone. It made no difference, but I continued using the phone anyway. The battery drain got worse and today it drained 80% in 7 hours with almost no use (talk for about 5 min. and maybe 30 min. screen time with wi-fi on but no GPS). Also, the phone started heating a lot (it got to a point where it was uncomfortable touching the top of the screen due to heat. But it didn't shut down). Then the phone started rebooting itself or just freezing until I had to do a hard reset about once a day. I think it's only when it's in use but can't be sure. another issue is that when I try to take more than 2-3 pictures with flash on, the phone reboots (flash off - no problem). The heating was solved by underclocking the device, but the other issues persist.
I thought about changing ROMs again, but as it didn't help last time, I decided to ask for advice here first.
Any thoughts?
Taking pictures on low battery or bad battery with flash can cause the phone to power off. It could be either.
Install wake lock detector from the app store and check what's draining your battery.. Then either paste a screen shot to get more help.
Thanks, I'll do that.
But just to clarify, the phone shuts down (abruptly) when using flash event if the battery is charged. Also, there's no such issue when using the led as a flashlight.
OK, the drain in the last few days was due to a game I installed and forgot to greenify, so let's put the battery drain aside for the meanwhile.
Question is, what can cause rebooting?
