Weird question I know but I had an idea for a ninja app. I found a wallpaper online that a guy who does art work with chalk and was drawing on a sidewalk. I was wondering if anyone would mind helping me make a ninja app. The idea is to design a wallpaper and having a design using app labels on a sidewalk or something with good texture. I will attach an image in a bit to give you an idea of what I was thinking.

Have objects in the wallpaper change perspective as you scroll your screens left or right. Like in this vid for example.
See how all the hills in the back scroll at different rates to help give that 3D depth perspective? It would be nice to have objects (like the turtles and shrooms) moving in the foreground too.
I actually want a live wallpaper that looks just like super mario bros wii, with moving backgrounds and all.
It's hard to develop, hard to play with, and icons and widget won't help you to play. The best solution is to download a super mario bross game in the market, I don't know if it already exist but it should
A game is not what i want, i want a live wallpaper that looks like the game, if you know what i mean? I want no interaction with it beyond the change in perspective when i scroll between screens.
It doesnt have to be mario bros either, it can be anything where the objects on the wallpaper scroll at different rates to give that change in perspective.
It's called parallax scrolling. It's already in some LWPs like Silhouette but not quite in the way you're referring to.
So, yeah it definitely could be done, but as far as I'm aware hasn't yet.
Parallax Scrolling... cool, thanks.
I just found a live wall paper that appears to use it, MaryJane, from the marketplace.
The leaves in the foreground and middleground move independantly of each other and from the background as well. Looks really cool... if you dont mind the type of leaves being used.
Now, if only someone would make one that mimics mario bros wii.
Yep. The MaryJane LWP is from the same group that did Silhouette.
The parallax scrolling technique was used heavily by Nintendo back in the day, as well as the PC demoscene. I'm willing to bet they pulled it out for SMB Wii as a sort of homage to the oldschool days.
Anyways, I vote that YOU start working on a LWP featuring PS in the SMB style (holy initialisms). The concept is simple enough.
thats how you play mario

I have no coding experience and wouldnt know where to start.
Someone just released a sweet live wallpaper with mario playing in the background... not exactly what i wanted, but still pretty cool.
Ok, self admitted geek here, but the Nook (and many tablets) are really feeling like a Star Trek PADD. So with that aim, I am looking for a wallpaper in the LCARS style for the Nook Color. Does anyone know is someone has put one together? And if so, where might I be able to get it?
I know nook-look.com has some for the regular nook, but I wanted something for my Nook Color.
Thanks!
Haven't run across anything specific wallpaper wise, but if you haven't tried the 'Tricorder' app yet then run do not walk to the Market and try it out.
Shame the NC doesn't have more sensors. It's impressive on the DroidX even with the small screen.
Yes, I have the app for my Droid. Love it. I cobbled something together, but not quite lined up correct....
will take a little more tweaking, before I get it "right".
Post it when you get it looking good, would love to see. I have been playing with the wallpaper myself and have had some luck switching to PNG format and then using the landscape trick to get the wallpaper to display correctly.
I am looking to get just the black shelves so i can add my own background.. ive seen lots of people with them and id like to get them to make my own wallpaper and add icons in photoshop.
Im looking to have 4-5 shelves on my wallpaper.
Thanks!
Id also be interested in any other shelves by themselves. Thanks!
devinatart is where they came from...he cut the shelves out and placed them on that background! with gimp or photoshop
Nevermind heres the link http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&global=1&q=iphone+shelf#/d2wx87f
Those are where the selves came from!
Haha. Truth be told i had seen em too and thought they might be an app of some description.. Creative use of backgroung images and i mean they are top quality images. With the right screen no wonder they look interactive.
I found it! Has a clear background and ready to be put on any wallpaper.
So, is there an easy method to making sure you line them up properly when creating the wallpaper, so that the icons sit nice on them once you get the wallpaper onto your phone?
Can someone instruct me on how to place the shelves. I'm so lost .
Evo 3D in full Affect with WTSB HYDRO SENSE 3.5
you make a screen capture and then place the shelves with the help of this capture (you load it in photoshop/gimp/whatever and place the shelves under the icons and then you just swap the capture to your image)
.99 cents to the first person who builds a mywater live wallpaper and battery stat akin to the one used on the Asus EEE transformer for our TB and other devices.

I really want it as well!

Looks really cool but I noticed that it indicates there is a battery and performance impact. Perhaps if it didn't take into account the orientation of the phone and slosh around the liquid the impact would be less.
that is pretty SWEET!
id pay for that too
Liquid Battery, while it may not look as good as the one you refer to, can accomplish a similar effect:

I posted in Xda Q&A with the .apk hoping a dev would be able to enhance the live wallpaper. The .apk works but the image is not so clear. WE are close to getting this wallpaper to the Thunderbolt.

Here is a screenshot of what the MyWater Live Wallpaper looks on my Thunderbolt. If anyone thinks they can enhance the image of the ice, PM me for the .apk.

I downloaded the apk and de-compiled it.
Keep in mind, I am not a Dev, I am a Graphics Designer.
I changed all of the images made some minor edits to the smali files and the xml files.
I changed the SDK Version and a number of minor things but I can't get it to work properly.
The problem isn't that it is in low resolution, it is not displaying the bubbles or the ice cubes.
I don't really understand why because it displays the water level just fine.
Like I said, I redone all of the bubble images and re-saved them, re-compiled the apk, signed it and installed.
I get the same results no matter what I do...
The ice cubes and the bubbles don't display, you just get a square white box in their place.
I hope someone picks this up, it is pretty cool. When someone that knows what they are doing gets hold of this it is probably something simple.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

I've done the same thing but so far I have got some of the smaller and medium bubbles working. Time to see if I can get the rest up and running. .

That's further than I got, the ice cubes would be a big improvement.
Someone in another thread stated that it looks like a big Styrofoam box, I tend to agree
I would have to agree with you gadget. I would be content with just the ice cubes working without the bubbles. I am excited to see at least some progress here!
Has anyone thought thought that the end credit animated background of Alice in Wonderland would be an amazing live wallpaper. I'm sure it would be a paid one but it would be worth it....
I think that would be a good one also but it may get taken down from the market the same way Mario live wallpaper did.
Why not capture it, save it to video and use the video live wallpaper discussion here...
i will have to check it out the actual credits will annoy me thou.
Anyone have a video of it? If its not to complicated & i like it i can add it to my list lol.
To above, video LWP's suck....just saying.
