Hi all, I moved to Modaco ROM and i must TrackBall wake,i don't have power button. please help
Firstly, wrong forum bud. Secondly, TB wake hasn't been implemented for MCR. There are several GB roms in this forum that support TB wake/unlock.
post in the right subforum next time and to answer your question flash a different rom
lol nice timing hollow
Sorry about posting here,I don't really know where to post it.
Second, other roms doesn't suitable for me,I'm facing with a lot of problems with others :/
no any application for this?
Widgetlocker
It have the option to make trackball unlock not wake.
I am right?
You can use anyunlock ( its on the market, dev is here on the forum)
It wakes on trackball and on the volume buttons on 2.2
and
wakes on volume buttons on 2.3
Works great for me!
It really useful app, I just hoped to find way to use Trackball
Or just send your phone in to HTC and pay the repair fee so you don't have to rig something up.

Is there a way to customize comm manager (change from 6 button to 10 or change the buttons--replace data connection with 3G) other than using Advanced Config. I can do it through Advanced Config but wondered whether there was another way to do it on the fly that I am missing. Thx.
Did you try looking into the stickied thread at the top of the forum that has all the cab files??
There's a 10 buttom comm manager right there.
I know. I am looking for a utility that switches from the 10 to the 6 or changes the order of the buttons on the 10 or 6. Maybe I am not explaining it well enough ....
Why would you want to change between the two? The 10 button has it all, including disabling data connection and 3G?
Aesthetics. The 6 button on/off looks good with certain themes/roms. Not a huge issue. I guess not a big demand for it.
If you use Kaiser Tweak you can customize the Comm Manager (doesn't change from 6 to 10 buttons or vice versa) but you can re-order the buttons. Give it a shot.
Got it. Thanks.
... Is there anyone that found a way to make the 10-buttons CommManager "dpad-friendly" ?
It's so annoying : you can navigate the homepage of your PDA with the dpad, and then start the commmanager... and there : you're stuck !
Have to touch the screen to choose any of the items (wireless, data, bluetooth...)

Yeah, because it's SUCH a pain to point your finger at the screen and push.
Wow, it's amazing the things people complain about.
If I took your logic, I would ask why Kaiser has a hard-keyboard ? It's so easy for ppl to press the screen
...
I have the aluminum case, and the screen is behind a hardglass !
So you can give a try if you want... but I'd bet your won't even bend the glass.
You didn't say you had a hard case, did ya? I don't have one and I don't know anyone that does. Everyone I know uses the stylus on the screen, just like it's supposed to be used.
Just use AEB to assign a hardkey, I use the windoz logo key, double press toggles BT power, tripple toggles WiFi. You get the picture.
I'll give a try to AEB (my Win button is already reassigned, same for the camera button which triggers the CommMgr...)

Like I said, why would people buy a phone with real keyboard, as there's already onscreen keyboard... That's exactly same scenario.
My question was not about "how could I reeducate myself", but how to turn this smartphone into something even smarter...
Even the ComMgr on the HTC Tornado can be manager from the joystick... (running WM5)
So it's a shame if HTC did remove this so simple thing as focus-ordered buttons...

You bought it, didn't you? Why did you buy it? I'll tell you why - it's one thing to have an on screen keyboard, it's a totally different thing to have a real, tactile keyboard with real keys to give your fingers feedback. You're comparing apples and oranges. Your logic doesn't fly with me, sorry. You can't touch-type with an on screen keyboard (i.e. type by feel).

WOW. You have been nothing but a condescending prick in every one of you posts on this thread. Sorry you don't like the new kids on your block asking questions. If you don't want to contribute anything in an amicable manner, please, leave us to cry in the corner.

LOL. Thanks for the laugh. You made my night.
The OP had a question, and I answered it. If it's not what he was looking for, then he should learn how to phrase his questions in a better way.
I don't apologize for my wording. I am short and to the point.
Lastly, some people will complain about anything and everything. You can't help that or change that.
Ok fine, so you're apparently upset about people asking for tips & tricks... Then I assume your Kaiser was just perfect as-is right ?
(...so I guess you kept the stock ROM untouched, and didnt apply any of the great XDA-dev patches/fixes then)
Anyone with a more constructive feedback, like maybe importing the CommMgr of a different HTC pdaphone ?
I have the Tilt with the stock AT&T ROM. It does everything I need it to. I have, however, applied many of the tweaks and fixes available here. I ask very few questions and do LOTS of reading. I read almost every thread in this forum looking for little tweaks to make my phone even better than it already is.
I have no problems with people asking questions. That is what this forum is for. What bugs me is people who post the same question over and over without reading ANYTHING. (not that I was referring to you)
I was trying to be a little sarcastic with my first reply, but I guess you took it the wrong way.
So then, if you said I was posting without reading anything ...
Do you mean you were able to find a way ? (finaly we'll get something constructive)
I am not really new to XDA-dev, so I know how searching the place works...
Unfortunately, neither the 6buttons nor the 10buttons CommMgr is able to do (apparently) what I'm trying to get.
Hence the post...
Well I highly doubt that you will be able to switch between the 6 and 10 buttom comm mgr. They are both cab installs and require a SR after install.
What about RemE's suggestion? Did you try that? You could also remap the PTT button.
P.S. I wasn't referring to you when I said people don't read before posting.
Hey i was wondering if you guys know if there is a program that would make the Touch pro/ Fuze Vibrate every time i hit a button or function on the screen. Like the LG dare has something like where when you are dialing a number using the screen it vibrates everytime you hit a number. I was wondering if there was something like that for the Fuze/ Touch pro. I think having something like that would be cool and it just makes it feel more realistic? So if you guys know of anything please let me know. I did a search and could not find anything.
Haptic feedback is what you need.

I just hopped onto an Energy ROM after I had tried one other.... I am pleased.
I am using his 28.may2010.WWE for the Rhodium and now my PTT button, which I was going to remap to my Resco task manager.. or LOUDTALKS App PTT function... and I see the the button is basically missing in the ROM. As if I didn't even have a physical one. But I do... I want to remap it. What is the deal?
Now if this was done intentionally - Well that is just STUPID period. A button you can map is a button you can map. I did this on both the STOCK ROM and clean Stock ROM that someone else offered.
I swap to this Energy Rom and the buttons in Settings doesn't even show the existence of the button to remap.
Did I miss something? What gives? Even though I just spent an hour searching here...I'm not searching any more and reading tons of posts for something that if done intentionally.... Is not my fault.
The button doesn't work/exist... The answer should come to me from the person who originated the problem. That is just fair. I'm not being a jerk But seriously... I am not looking high and low for an answer to fix something I did not break. If that was the case.... I wouldn't be whining I'd still be looking.
Sorry so abrupt. DELL screwed me on a PC case delivery and they want me to wait another month (after 1 month already) with a pile of hardware here.... SORRY!
I'm a bit put off atm... having found LOUDTALKS app and cannot bind the damn button to it.. Button is KAPUT?!?!
I'd suggest posting on this in the EnergyROM thread
Suggestion noted.... But I actually thought that is where I was.... Heh! I guess I entered a different thread from my Search results..... Feel free to move this.... Mods unless you think I should repost.
only the tilt2 has the ptt button just search for a key mapper and it will work on any rom "keyboard config" for rhodium.

You really should have posted on the NRG ROM forum, but what you need to do is go to Tools / Carrier Provisioning, select the AT&T switch, and hit APPLY. I think that will help.

i wanted to know if thereĀ“s an app that turns on the trackball when the display is on. for example on cm6 there is a "pulsating trackball while screen" on function, but it didn't work for me. i guess that function isn't for my htc magic? i'm running eclair right now
Ignore
10 chars dbl post
Maybe it's still in development...It should probably work for nexus devices only. Try asking the community to see if they have the same problem(you posted in the G1 section)
Ok i have an old Htc hero lying around after my evo upgrade that had a broke digitizer.... all i wanting to do is make it where i can you use home to unlock so i can use it as an MP3 player... it was running aosp build last i believe... with vanilla lockscreen... can anyone help me make it where the home key unlocks it..from there i can use the trackball to navigate.. any help would be greatly appreciated and ill give small reward also...
is there anything i can flash in recovery to remove lock screen, or a rom that doesnt include one.. or can i remove it from one of the roms i have and flash it? just some ideas?

I got it. Flash aospCMod or CM7 (has long press volume for media next/prev while screen is off) then get app "button remapper" and remap your phone key to media_play_pause with state wake (works while screen off), then in cm settings allow quick unlock with whatever button you want (menu, trackball, etc.) For fun you can also "freeze" the dialer and other apps so the OS won't operate them, use titanium backup. Turn off data in settings. Let me know if you need more guidance.

...ill paint a picture what im doing... i have a very nice stainless steel plate ive made for the dash in a mud toy that im going to mount the phone behind and just expose the screen and track ball..from the im running it to an amplifier...ive run this setup before in a jeep...the hero is permanently mounted in the dash..lol..sounds goofy..but just a toy..and the phone was free with upgrade when i got it...just dont have the touchscreen part on it anymore...
im stuck at welcome to hero200 screen grr...

what ROM were you on before? Hope you have a nand backup...
I now fully realize your intent, and massive roadblock to get there. It should be doable, but maybe by someone with more time or more ability than I. You would essentially have to create and update.zip for YOUR current ROM so you don't have to wipe /data. The update would have to have the hard keys remapped already built into the ROM, which is not that hard. This way, since you would be flashing over, you would not have to go thru setup. And in theory once the ROM loaded, the key mapping would already be done. AFAIK nobody has ever done the volume long press but cyanogen, and since I/m not a fan of kanging and wouldn't know where to look, you would have to remap differently. Like phone key could be play/pause, menu could be next, home could be previous, etc. This is all theory, but it should work.
AWESOME! I just re-read the thread where I learned how to remap, and I forgot you can do this with ADB while in your ROM and then reboot, no new flashing Go read this awesome thread, thanks to Decad3nce >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695936
All you need to do is pull heroc-keypad.kl and make the edits to the keys you want and then push it back.
Hmm...sure would be nice if I could just remove the start up menu and the lock screen.. I figured out how to rename keys on my evo.. My issue is getting past setup and past the lock screen...thank y'all for the.help..im gonna.mess with this during my spare time...for now ill just use an old droid I have..also remapping of keys isn't real important since I can use track ball to navigate. Solution for getting past the setup menu and lock screen is my goal.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Seems there is an option in CM for menu unlock? Just thinking out loud, but that setting would be in some XML file I'd think so the setting could be changed in that and pushed back somehow. Definitely beyond me as to that exact process or what apk or what XML that would reside in.
~maybe I set it too high...
OT - did you say JEEP!?!? That's where the TJ in my name comes from.
lol, me too with the TJ, cool. #offtopic
@OP - If you go read that thread I linked, I am almost 100% that if you change the "state" of any of those to "WAKE_DROPPED" it will unlock the phone. Any sense ROM would have menu set to do that already, as well as any CM rom. As for removing the lockscreen and setup. The setup is an apk IIRC so yes you could, but the lockscreen is tied to the world clock AFAIK, so you wouldn't want to delete that. I found an app that disables it but only for sense 2.1. Here's that link:

i know on hero sense roms some of them u can press menu to unlock by default are there any like that on the evo also i found an amazing program for pc the other day its called "android injector" what it does is u can force install apks onto your phone simply by dragging and droping onto your sd card from a computer so no need to mess with adb or having to dig through a file manager on your phone.
i found this on androidandme.com, and heres the link.
