[Q] Switching from branded 2.2.1 to stock 2.2.1

Hi,
I currently have 2.2.1 PDA I9000BVJS4 / PHONE: I9000BVJP4 / CSC: I9000ORAJS4 and i want to switch to stock 2.2.1 . My phone was bought from an online shop, not from an operator and it was not branded. After the 2.2 update via Kies i had a FW similar wich ended in CNX (Vodafone Ro, it might be I9000HKDCNX, not sure about it). Can you give me some pointers about which version of 2.2.1 should i flash it to and a guide how to do it ? last time i tried i got to the S of death and the only way out was a friend of mine which could only install my current firmware.
Thanks!
If you want stock 2.2.1 then search for EZBase. It has everything you need to flash to that with clear and very easy to follow instructions.

How can EZBase help ? from what I read it makes easier to switch between zipped roms.
bump 10 characters
Ezbase is basically stock + root,
Sent from gt i9000 insanity 8.5/fugumod
humm, i don't want root, basically i want my phone to be in the optimal condition for warranty
Then go to samfirmware.com and choose appropriate firmware

As i descriped in the OP I am a bit afrade of flashing it without a proper descriptiun. Diggin in the forums and apropriate usage of the seach box lead me to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100906 ; i'm going to try it on monday
That looks like good thread, hope it all goes well, pm me if you have any problems

Optimal would be one the firmware that came with your phone or its updates via Kies ..
Second option would be current firmware Samsung stock rom version that matches your location .

Flashed to JPY as described above, set CSC to XEU and updated via KIES to JVO all's all right.

Firmware - newbie help

Hi all,
I am wondering if someone can guide me to the correct direction.
This is my phone (samsung Galaxy I9000)
Model GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.1-Update 1
Base Version: I9000 DTJG3
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected]#2
Build Number: ECLAIR. DTJG4
It is unlocked - orginally from Optus.
this phone feels very slow and not very responsive at the moment.
I am thinking of upgrading the firmware hoping that it will improve the persformance
Can someone please tell me which firmware will be best for me? I'm not going to root the phone and I am just after most effecient firmware (good wifi, GPS and signal)
I am not sure which one is most stable for my phone.
Thank you
you could flash a stock gingerbread rom.the ones with bootloaders.jvh is pretty stable.2.3.4 ones will have phone fc bug..you'll hv to root ur phone to get rid of that bug..stock roms u can dwnld from ramads thread..for gps/wifi/signal u will have to flash the appropriate modem.there was a thread comparing modems somewhere here on the forum.try searching it.if u really want near zero lags it would be best to do ext4 lagfix..but again rooting will be reqd.gb roms are fast without these but lagfix still brings noticeable change.
Thank you for the reply.
It seems that I am gonna need to do root on it.
If that is the case, It will be much appreciated if I can be pointed to the correct link (tutorial - step by step) to get this process.
After reading some of the psosts I get really confused with all the type of firmware and kernel etc...
any suggestions and links I can follow will be much a great help much appreciated
Thank you again
The below links helped me out.

Read the tutorials carefully, then read them again and again until you are sure and confident. do not use if you dont feel confident.
Make sure you have the 3 button combo (recovery and download).

Hello, you can try JPY on 2.2.1, it's a stable firmware without the bugs of the gingerbread, if you doesn't want to root your phone.
Thanks for all the replies guys,
I just upgraded to GingerBread 2.3.3 XWjVN.
My next question is:
If I want to get rid of all those Optus rubish - Can you please tell me which firmware do I need to install?
There are so many types and I really get confused which one is going to work for me.
I have seen my friend's SI9000 very fast and snapy - is the firmware upgrade the way to do it?
Thanks again guys
Flash any custom roms from here CUSTOM ROMS

[Q] Stopped working after upgrade to Gingerbread.

Hi.
We have two galaxy tabs and was upgrading to ginger bread. One of them was succsesful, but the other one dosen't start anymore.
Donno what's wrong with it?
How can I get it working again?
Thankful for any help. (Excouse my bad english.)
Regards Christian.
You can put it into download mode and flash it with odin. Google download mode galaxy tab. Then download the stock gingerbread firmware from samfirmware.com or xda download site. On youtube there are good tutorials how to flash galaxy tab firmwares. WARNING: you will VOID you WARRANTEE
Sent from my GT-I9100
Okey, thanks for a quick answer. Is there anyway of doing this and not void warrenty? Some recovery thing or something?
Well the download mode is the recovery and kies doesn't provide this as far as i know sry you could send it to samsung
Sent from my GT-I9100
But i am not sure if an official rom will void your warrantee. How did you update it?
Sent from my GT-I9100
flashing official firmware in no way would void any warranty.
You need to find the stock firmware (rom) for your Tab and then flash it via Kies or Heimdall depending on which tab you have, that should get you back up and running unless there's an actual hardware issue.
Thanks alot for your time.
There is no hardware error, this is software.
Can someone please explain in steps how to do this and where to get the firmware and roms or is there any good how-to to do this?
Official firmware is availiable on samfirmware.com registration is free. They also provide flashing tutorials. For any further problems ask me, i'll help
Sent from my GT-I9100
Thanks alot, i'll try.
I appreciate you keeping and eye on this post if i run into some heavy problem
Regards Christian.
Youre welcome

Okey, I changed pit file with odin and after that it works again. I'm in keis with the device connected and in there it says this deviceversion can not be updated.
I would like to be able to update it to gingerbread in keis.
I have to devices and they are both galaxy tab 7" gt-p1000 and one of them is updates, why can't i update this one?
I get this.
PDA:JJ7 Phone:JK5 CSC:JK2 (TPH)
So you have one on gingerbread and the other one is on 2.2, right?
Did you buy them both in the same store/ county?
What is modem etc on the gingerbread one?
Sent from my GT-I9100
The one that I was able to update to gingerbread with keis is bought a few weeks before the other one. Not in the same store but in the same country (Sweden, I live here.)
I don't have the other one at home right now. so I don't know modem (by the way, what is modem?)
Thanks in advance.
Hmm modem dont really know should ask google but i'm too lazy. Maybe these two devices are a bit more different than we think... I really have no idea why kies wont let you update it, sorry. I have no galaxy tab (but maybe in some months?) but you could download the 2.3.3 from samfirmware and flash it. The only problem would be that this firmware (marked red) is unofficial. Means that you might void the warrantee.
By the way 2.3.3 is only official on italian galaxy tabs
I personally live in Austria and bought a Galaxy S2 about a week ago. I think that if it would need a repair i could easily flash it to official 2.3.3 (i am 2.3.4 unofficially) and i dont really think about warrantees.
I am not sure if you would not void the warrantee with an unofficial but not rooted os.
But if you want i can help you to get on 2.3.3. It is your choise.
Official 2.2 or
Unofficial 2.3.3

[Q] how to update?

hello my friends. im new to this site
wanted to ask how do i update my samsung galaxy gt-i9000
i have the firmware 2.2 and i want to update to the latest firmware because my phone barely moves and always gets stuck. by the way im from israel
my baseband version is i9000XXJPK
kernel version 2.6.32.9
build number FROYO.JIJPA
please help me out here as quick as you can
thank you very much
Either update through Kies (official way), or use Odin (a leaked Samsung app with which you can flash your phone) and a ROM of your choice. You can find enough documentation here on how Odin works
YouTube it. Lots of nice easy guides on how to do it. You'll never go back to stock!
you can go to development section of the forum. there are lots of description about it.

[Q] ICS via PC Odin, Now want the official update via kies

Hello Everyone,
I have a few questions I hope I will get satisfied here.
I have recently updated my GT-N7000 to ICS via this website.
android.gs/ update-samsung-galaxy-note-n7000-to-official-ice-cream-sandwich-lpy-with-mobile-odin/
I followed the PC odin method and in a few minutes I got ICS. It also said that via this method your phone would not be rooted and you will be able to get the official updates through kies in future.
Yesterday I saw on the internet that ICS for Poland is out and now I want the official ICS version via the KIES.
Now whenever I try connecting through kies I get the message that "Your Software doesn't support software upgrading via Kies"
What is the problem? How to solve it?
Download the poland version from sammobile.com or dr ketans thread and flash using pc odin
It would be better to download Polish 2.3.6, after THAT factory reset, and then upgrade into 4 through Kies.
when would i get official isc in serbija ? does somebody know?
Moved To Q&A
Please post questions in the Q&A section
The problem is the incopatible csc file... Try the solution provided as first reaction on your post. Either you dowload the old firmware, then you flash it over your current firmware and after this, the kies update should work again.
Or you simply download abd flash the pl. Update directly and kies will work for the future releases in poland.

Great job irritating forum members by hijacking another thread as your very first post... I am sure you will get tons of answers. Maybe read a bit before asking questions - there IS a dedicated ICS info thread...

Well Now I am having problem finding the firmware for my phone when I do this
Dial *#06# that will show hour emei. Write it down, then dial *#272*yourimeinumberhere# that will show your csc, you can change it here, it will wipe your data thought. I get XEO as my sales code.
*#1234# gives me
PDA: N7000XXLPY
PHONE: N7000XXLPT
CSC: N7000OXALPY
Build Info: Friday May 4
Also KIES says
Current firmware version: PDA:LPY / PHONE:LPT / CSC:LPY(XEO)
What to do now ?
Did you flash a polish gingerbread or which version did you flash?
Cause now it seems you have ICS open germany version.

My Sales Code is XEO previously I have 2.3.6 and then I flashed two days ago this
ICS via PC odin.
Now what to do ?
Well I dont know if there is a polish version of ICS out yet. But you can check that on
www.sammobile.com
But it shouldnt be any different than the rom you currently have. Except for maybe languagesupport.
So if I were in your situation I wouldnt do anything.
There is a simple solution for that. I did it for exactly the same reason as you. Just download official gingerbread ROM for your country /Poland/ and flash it via Odin. If Kies is still unable to use updates, you will have to find right CSC for your phone. There is allways more than one for each country.. because of different carriers etc. Someone described how to do it in previous comments.
If you get lucky, Kies will be finally satisfied with your phone and will offer you official update /if it is really available/
I have reverted back to the Slovak Gingerbread ROM because I had some issues with German ICS. Now I just have to wait for official update for my country..
I just read in development section that official ICS LPY is out for poland also. You can allways flash that through Odin.
