I am no longer a rebel. and I feel if everyone is going to have the same kind of phone as me, it might as well be the higher probability of sex iphone, right? Anyone else feeling the same way?

I notice more people coming to android over iOS. I think it's a good thing, until they retardedly call every android phone a DROID.
I'm a rebel, I still use a WM6.5 device and a WP7 device.
Next phone is going to be an android phone, after I love my new tablet and modding it... But who cares if you are a rebel or not? The new rebel will be having a bleeding edge ROM on everything to distinguish yourself from the sheep!

Two things:
1. I'm still a rebel for using Android. I'm a rebel because I have rooted, S-OFF'ed, and flashed a cutting edge ROM so sharp, it'll make your girlfriend pregnant.
2. Not that many Android users in Malaysia. Yet.
How does having an android phone making a rebel. Knowing how to use it and customizing it to the best of its ability is what makes you a rebel. Be proud you have one and hack it to no end, Im a rebel because i make my own launcher icons, docks and wallpapers MYTOUCH 4G + Photoshop CS5 = <3

+1 to that.
Any more recommendations like that and I'll have to learn to Photoshop for my own icons
although more people are switching to android, i still feel that i'm a 'rebel' cause i've rooted and customized my inspire 4g.
most android users here in australia are still n00bs and got stock bloatware from their respective telcos
I am a rebel. I went through 3 iterations of the iPhone (2G, 3G, 3Gs) before I got fed up with Apple and switched.
And yes. I HATE people who call all Android Phones Droids. I remember being in an AT&T store when an older women comes in asking if they sell "Droids" there
I'm the proud owner of the fastest current phone on the market .

i have to tell someone everyday that all android os phones are not called droids as they look at me with a stupid look on there face i swear everytime im around someone with a iphone they try and punk me about android so i ask one question what does your (JITTERBUG) i phone do that my android want? they always say well its an iphone! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does everyone think? 4" may be the sweet spot between big screen size and too big. I don't know how I feel about even less physical buttons though as I already think it is the stupidest thing ever to not have dedicated send/end, but that is just me.
Not while they've skinned Android and replaced some Google integration with Yahoo integration.
No led flash? Are you f*cking kidding me?
I like the S-AMOLED and the proper multi-touch screen. However, having used the N1, I feel that it's just about as large a smartphone as I'd like to have in my pocket.
Not having to jump through as many hoops to get it customized, rooted, unlocked, etc. is also a nice thing about being on the N1.
Why would I want that when I have an N1?

If it gets rooted and with a stock rom i'm going for it. Samsung makes great hardware. The software sucks big time.

+10. Updates will be non existent, samsung expects you to buy a new phone if you want to update, screw that. I'll stay with nexus one.

Yeah I'm with you I'll wait for the new Nexus One every phone on T-Mobile that's made by HTC and only has stock Android is the phone Google uses for the next year. Thanks to Froyo the Nexus One has been the best Android phone until at least August when the Droid X gets 2.2 and gets a speed boost. Also you know that the Galaxy S will not get to use the free tethering that people with the Nexus enjoy. So to the original question NOPE

If it is rooted why couldn't you use wireless tether? Wow I did not think everyone would be so against it. Its already rooted though I thought.

If I upgrade phones from my Nexus One its going to be for these features:
- Vanilla android
- 4.3' screen
- Can use the same $50/mo even more plus T-mobile voice + data
I'm more than happy to play the waiting game with my Nexus One until this phone comes out...
If the guys at Samsung weren't so cheap to cut corners and actually included an led flash I might have considered the GalaxyS... but I can't support such obvious penny pinching cost cutting by Samsung
I love its GPU power and the Super-AMOLED, but for me to go from the N1 I need :
dualcore
>WVGA
stock android

I don't expect that for another 6 months or so, so I'll be keeping my Nexus One until then
The Galaxy S is also plasticky and ugly

I bought the EVO Shift in part because I wanted to play emulated games. A company called Game Gripper makes these pretty cool attachments to use with physical keyboards. It is basically a button overlay that is shaped and functions like a console controller. I put a picture of one below. They have gotten pretty good reviews. If you are interested in the attachment you should head over to the Game Gripper website and put in a request. I don't know how many requests they need before they produce a Game Gripper but the more they get the better the chances they will produce one. The EVO Shift is actually listed on their request form so maybe they are developing or getting ready to develop one already. You don't even have to enter your email or anything.

Looks like they won't need to make phone specific versions anymore.
^ Shift Faced
Wow, that's cool. The only turn off for me would be the normal one is $15 and that one is around $50. I would definitly be interested in it if I didn't have a keyboard though.
True. But you wouldn't have to buy a new one if you got a new phone. I like that.
^ Shift Faced
But I'd much rather have a cheaper piece that just snaps on to the keyboard, then it doesn't require an app/having the bluetooth radio on. Emulators burn enough battery as is.
I put in a request for this this morning before even seeing this post. Looks like great minds think alike. I came from the EVO just so I could have a keyboard for emulated games...
I sent a request for it a while ago and they told me to keep checking that it would become available at some point.
Anyone have an update at all on this? I am dying to get a game gripper on my phone.
I just got a shift, coming from a Samsung Moment, and was trying to remember what the company was called making these. I don't think it took long for when they had the Samsung Moment request form up and when they started to make them.
I was looking at these earlier this week (I fell in love with psx4droid) and there is probubly no chance they're going to make one of these for the shift. I mean common, this isn't the most popular phone, I wish it was though.
Btw the emulators gensoid, n64iod, gameboid, every ____oid have all been removed from the market, but they are FREE on the slideme appstore. Don't worry they were put on by the dev, not pirated.
Pls click 'thank' if this helped!!
No I'm not using Tapatalk... I'm using the XDA Premium app, cause I got balls.
I have been using the Tiger emulators since they are free but allow you save states. They are still available.
I like the tiger ones better. And fpse is a far better ps emulator. Stuck with N64oid though.
Put in my request for one this would really be awesome.

Nice, hopefully they eventually make one for us. The Epic had one at this point in it's life cycle so we'll see.
Don't Think...
To my knowledge, when I play emulated games, it will only register 2 keys at once, I can push a third, but it doesn't do anything, even if I have it registered. I don't think a physical one is possible cause of this, but a bluetooth one (assuming we can find one that sends the correct frequency for those still stuck on the gb update) would work just fine.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I may just have a faulty unit, or there is something we can do like the epic users did to stop them from dropping keys when they typed too fast, that might help us here is I'm not the only one with this problem.
what would happen if Android and Apple came together and made a new os or phone it would be amazing but i doubt it will ever happen if it did then there would be allot less lawsuits and all this crap

That is an interesting idea actually. We all know Apple's design ideas are pretty good, and some android phones you don't want to take out of your pocket. But on the other hand, Android is a great system, and iOS...not so much. So you can have 2 different phones from that. One sexy phone with awesome OS, or an Ugly one with crap OS. I present to you, this phone:

i hate iphones but if they combinded there power with android that phone would dominate the 2 most popular oses features in one phone
You would need a dual boot phone, preferably a Samsung and have iOS running flawlessly. Name it the iWin

Hark at him, with his fancy new 80s cube puzzle avatar!
I think jaszek has the right idea, I mean its not as though apple even make their phones or components, so all it would take is a logo swap at foxconn and a optimised version of android and BAM. of course the ifanboys would then complain about the poor build quality as it no longer has a partially eaten fruit logo on the back.
In the real world.. If you're just looking for an android that is aesthetically pleasing.. Motorola seem to be doing a good job on that front. My Atrix looks smart, and the new razr is all fancy!
just buy a samsung, it looks like the iphone and it runs android
I'll only put it this way- iOS' power management, maybe battery itself, everything else android / non-Applicular origin. Lets face it, right now, our beloved toys only lack that functional amount of battery life to be, well, functional and reliable.

a discussion can be found here: http://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/comments/228hbo/how_can_we_get_the_idroid_project_rebooted/
Ok, I'm not sure why you resurrected a thread that has been dead for over 2.5 years but I think it's time to officially kill it.
Im curious on what people like more. What do you like. HTC, Or Samsung. Sense 3./3.5, asop or miui and why. Ill start. HTC and asop. HTC are usually more high quallity feeling. feel more durable then the cheap feeling easyy to break and brick galaxy. Aosp because its light. Has better things to do. More customizeable and user friendly.

When I read the abbreviation, I always read it as Asop in my head, even though I know what it stands for. It's just easier than trying to pronounce it the other way.

I knew someone who bred them. You couldn't walk across his lawn without falling over one. They were enormous buggers though and would eat 20lbs of vegetables a night, before eating all the remaining grass and deposing the remains for cleaning up the next day.
True story!
I Like MIUI this is so cool
Samsung, with ASAP SOAP SOPA AOSP. I like HTC too, but they've become boring, and they're pumping out "new" models every single week.
MIUI FTW. Messed around with CM9 beta, but likely MIUI v4 will be my golden ticket.

About Me...Take a seat
Im all about android, since you are reading this I’m willing to bet you are too. From a Motorola Brick to a Samsung Galaxy Gear, I’ll show you how I fell in love with android. Sit back and relax as I lead you on my journey…. I recently searched for T-Shirts, hoodies, jackets, anything that I can wear with an Android based design. My results netted almost none at all. I found maybe one or two t-shirts. I was pretty disappointed that I could not walk to classes at The University of Kansas wearing something I supported so much. Here is my story.
My first phone was a brick from Motorola at the age 14. My mom placed my first phone on my birthday cake so I immediately thought it was fake. I remember thinking it couldn't be merely anything but a hollow dummy phone. To my surprise it was heavier than what I had expected. That birthday marked the long nights of playing snake.
At 15 my second phone came into my life. It couldn't just be any phone though. It had to have a color front LCD screen and play polyphonic ringtones. My mom and I settled on Kyocera. A flip phone on virgin-mobile. This phone served all a teenager's needs at the time. With this phone I was introduced to Java given the web browser. At the time there was absolutely no development from a 15 year-old’s standpoint. I was simply happy could browse Myspace on my phone.
When I was 16 everyone in high school had the Motorola Razr (today's IPhone) but I wanted something different. I wanted something just as good and just as slim. I could afford it since I started work at a Sonic nearby.... Making $5.15/hr plus tips I was basically rolling in money. 220 dollars later I ordered the Samsung A900 aka "The Blade" from eBay. It was dope at the time. It had front facing speakers, music control buttons, and a rotating camera. I’m just realizing it now but was the first selfie phone. :cyclops: To stand out I wrapped the phone in a money skin from ebay. I was pretty much the cool kid on campus.
While I was around 17 years old I bought my first smartphone. This also might be my first time finding xda, I joined in 2008. It was the HTC Vogue aka The Touch. It was my first ever touch screen phone and it had windows! I was amazed I could simply copy and paste files just like my computer and it only had 3 buttons. With unlimited texting/data and my Acura Integra I was living the life of a teenager.
18 years old I was still working at Sonic but now as a shift manager. The pay was great for my age while still living with my parents. Once my upgrade came along I decided to get another HTC. The Touch Diamond. All I ever wanted. It was a windows phone, it has a pretty good camera, AND it had a gyroscope built in! Now I can brag to my friends about this awesome game where you can tilt the phone in order to roll a ball through a maze.
Onward came the Motorola Droid. At this point I was 19 and recently accepted into the University of Kansas studying Mechanical Engineering. I remember sitting in English 101 discussing a topic about how technology has shaped us. The guy sitting next to me noticed my Droid on the desk and brought it up to the class. He said “His phone is basically a computer. He has a keyboard, he can send and receive email, and use the internet. The best thing about it is he can fit it in his pocket.”
