As title says... After installing and using VZW Bootstrapper + KashMek ROM SGT stuck on Battery Meter...
I've tried Power+Vol Up but nothing happens... screen flickers.
I've searched the forum for this one but nothing... Any input? Anything else I could try?
Thanks in advance.
Same thing happened to me last week. I had to heimdall back to stock

i gave up on getting a rom to boot properly and settled with kashmek's voodoo kernel
oh, and following this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998658
word for word got the bootstrapper to successfully work for me and the clockworkmod fun began.
Thanks for your reply.... I was able to boot to Download Screen but my problem right now is that Heimdall will not recognize the tablet... I followed the instructions about the drivers but to no avail. I get an "Error 12 Failure to access device"
Got it working... Thanks for Your help.
I cant figure out error 12 either... mine is even more bricked than that and I dont understand why its still being recognized by odin and not heimdall. and it runs through stock firmware flash with odin says pass but when its done the screen is still black someone help
For the error 12 issue, this means you don't have the Heimdall driver installed. ODIN uses a seperate driver than Heimdall so you can't use both at the same time. If in download mode ODIN sees the device, this means that the ODIN driver is installed. To install the Heimdall driver and learn more about it, just check out my video:

I've tried everything that I possibly can, in order to implement ChainFire's kernel via Odin to root my Samsung Galaxy S, but it doesn't matter what I do - Odin gets stuck at Setup Connection for me. (both on Windows 7 [32 bit] and Windows XP)
I've tried asking this question several times in relevant threads, and so far have not received any replies. Hence, I'm forced to make this thread.
I just want to know if there exists an alternate method to root my phone AND replace stock 3e recovery with 2e recovery? While I can root my phone using the SuperOneClick method, I can't seem to install 2e recovery on my phone and therefore no ClockWorkRecovery Mod for me either.
Can anyone in here, please help me with this ordeal?
the answer is simple: just use odin to flash any mod kernal from this forum, like SpeedMode

You can also try z4root found in this forum.
I've tried using both 1.3 and 1.7 versions of Odin. And facing the exact same issue; it doesn't go beyond 'Setup Connection' for me, when flashing the kernel.
I've already tried and tested all combinations and permutations of USB cable in / USB cable out / Battery out / SIM out / Odin running with Admin rights / Different USB slots etc etc. Didn't do anything for me.
Let me reiterate myself, rooting alone is the least of my problems. I need to install 2e version of recovery (and hence be able to install ClockWorkMod in order to be able to install 3rd party ROMs). I can't seem to get that done, via ChainFire's method.
I've managed to root my phone via SuperOneClick method, but the issue of 2e recovery remains. So I can't use that method either.
What exactly are you having a problem with? Can you get your phone to connect to Odin but the download won't progress or can't you get your phone to connect to Odin??
My phone shows up in Odin just fine (Com: 14), but once I click 'Start', the entire process stops at:
<ID:0/014> Added!!
<ID:0/014> Odin v.3 engine (ID:14)..
<ID:0/014> File analysis..
<ID:0/014> SetupConnection..
Nothing happens beyond this point. And my phone isn't flashed or affected in any way either.
Are you sure you have all the appropriate drivers?
I had that problem earlier on .. and I believe once I got the Samsung USB drivers from Softpedia it was a wrap.
Odin started working properly.
edit: also check which PIT file you're using. People recommend 512 but the 802 is the one that works for my phone.
KIES identifies the phone just fine. I've already tried removing the drivers and re-installing them automatically via Windows Update - KIES works again, but this issue remains.
I've also removed KIES (even from the status bar area), before starting Odin, so that's not a problem either.
i think you have no problem with odin, but with usb drivers.
without usb connect you have a problem i think. even for redbend_ua u need a usb connect to use adb shell.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773913
dont know if u can use redbend in terminal emulator just local?! we have to ask an expert or just try it
another option is to use a linux box and heimdall. never had any problems with the usb drivers there

Use Heimdall, I'm yet to hear of a single instance of Heimdall 1.0.0 failing.
Any link to how can I use Heimdall? Is it possible on a Mac?
Heimdall XDA Thread
Official Heimdall Page
The README includes usage instructions.
Heimdall will run on a Mac as long as you have the updated bootloader provided by Samsung. It was only included in official Froyo releases so you must already be running Froyo for it to work on a Mac. Unfortunately there is no work around if you don't have the bootloader, even a Windows virtual machine running on a OS X will not be able to connect to the phone.
However Heimdall will work fine with any Galaxy S on Linux and Windows (i.e. no updated bootloader required).
If you find Heimdall useful donations are very much appreciated
recovery 2e can be installed on your device fairly easily, as long as it is rooted. Any root method works.
Once rooted, just copy the recovery 2e binary and replace the 3e binary in /system. There are some guides here on this forum on how to do it. I believe simply replacing /system/res/keys with AOSP should be enough for recovery 3e to work properly too...
Finally, I got it working, still using Odin. Thanks for everyone's help. Really really appreciate it.
I have the same problem - could you briefly describe how you got it working with Odin? Thanks!
First of all make sure that you're entering download mode and not recovery mode, before connecting to Odin.
That means pressing (home+power+down-volume key). Secondly, download KIES and and attach your phone with it first in a normal mode and later when in download mode (without turning Odin on).
Thanks a lot, worked!

Heimdall does not recognize my Epic and I can't get Odin to work. I'm in limbo now as phone will only go to download mode.
My I9000 is stuck on the boot screen, after trying to install EZbase (was stock eclair). Odin/heimdall don't see the phone in download mode. I CAN get into recovery mode.. i have Clockwokmod recovery 2.5.1.0 speedmod ULFK on there. I have tried a factory reset, but this didn't help.
So what do i do here?
I am under the impression i need to flash with an update.zip; but i don't have a clue what should be my update.zip.
Sorry if this has been asked many times, but i searched and have read many threads and got nowhere.
ok well download the android SDK tools and isntall all the USB drivers. Unplug your USB cable and change the port from the one you are using, boot your phone into download mode, once in download mode fire up ODIN v 1.7 and plug your phone in, it should find it in odin, once you can see it in odin you should be able to continue flashing EZbase and then onto Cyanogen if that is what you were trying to do
Once you get odin to recognize your phone in download mode you need to flash a Kernel/Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991792
since you were trying to do that try the link above
Thanks for the quick response!

do you mean Android SDK Starter Package? Or?
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
This is what i downloaded; what do i do now? Do i have to run SDK Manager.exe and install java (i would like to avoid this, if i can)??
Thanks for your help.
ya unfortunately you have to install java. so maybe your phone isn't being recognized because your doing it in the wrong order....try this before you install anything, unplug the phone, boot into download mode, fire up odin then plug the phone in. you should see it on some com port on the top left
Ok; Java installed, ran SDK Manager and added Google USB Driver for Windows, Revision 4. [ as developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html ], which is in \android-sdk-windows\extras\google\usb_driver
The directions provided by google (url above) suggest plugging the phone in first. This installed the samsung drivers automatically, however.
Odin3 1.7 now showed a port; but the flash stalled at 'SetupConnection..'
I tried using 'update driver' via Device Manager, but all that i see is;
Modems -> SAMSUNG Mobile Modem
Universal Serial Bus controllers -> SAMSUNG USB Composite Device
Neither would update with the drivers in \android-sdk-windows\extras\google\usb_driver
[Also, Yes, I am opening odin and booting in download mode before connecting the USB cable]
Ok try flashing just a kernel go to the Dev section and find a kernel from hardcore it is called speedmod kernel. That should flash in 20 seconds or so. Flash the froyo one he has one for gingerbread so don't use that one they are separate threads so its easy to tell which is which
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
..now if i try to turn the phone on it shows a phone and a PC with a /!\ warning symbol between them, and i can't boot in to recovery mode. I CAN boot into download mode, and the PC makes a noise to acknowledge something has been connected, but Odin doesn't see it.
EDIT: I reinstalled Keis, and selected 'install drivers' on the menu from within the app.. this meant Odin was able to see the phone and i have sucessfully (apparently) updated the kernel to speedmod froyo. The phone is back to the 'Galaxy S' screen again. Now what? How long should the phone take to boot if it is sucessful (ie. how long should i wait before restarting?)
EDIT 2: Ahh, EZbase flash worked too! .. thank F, a working phone!
So i guess the key was to get the drivers (again) from the submenu in the Keis App NOT the android SDK.
Glad it worked out, sorry it took so long to reply, ya after you get a kernel on there then you need to flash a rom again, which is exactly what you did later
Hi everyone
So here it is : No program is able to recognize/detect my Galaxy S i9000M (Bell Vibrant) when it's in download mode, so I can't flash any ROM. My phone is currently fully bricked and unusable. I cannot access to the recovery mode with the three-button thingy or by "adb reboot recovery"
I bricked using Odin 1.8, trying to flash a 2.2 froyo stock ROM from Samfirmware. The flashing went ok, but it failed to reboot. Actually, the screen was turned off and nothing was happening. I figured out it was fully bricked so I made a USB JIG, it worked. I can access my download mode.
I connected the phone to my Windows 7 computer and used Odin to flash back to 2.1 Eclair, with a stock ROM from Samfirmware. It failed (I don't remember the error message, it was a couple days ago...).
I tried with Heimdall Frontened. It had a problem uploading the .pit file, so the flashing didn't work.
Now each time i connect the phone to my computer, Windows (and Heimdall frontened and Odin) doesn't detect it,which means that I can't flash anything on it even though it is in download mode.
I have tried reinstalling like every driver on earth, still not responding.
I tried on another Windows 7 machine and on Ubuntu, the device is not detected.
I tried with different USB cables, nothing happens.
This is my hypothesis (maybe silly) : Could the problem be the Download mode being corrupted?
Whatever... I could use some help from you guys.
Thank you,
Sam
I had/have the same problem.
I installed the Samsung Kies and now my computer recognize my phone again.
But I have still no idea what I need to flash to make my phone working.

That is strange... I tried installing Kies and it didn't detect the phone. And you could just flash any 2.3 stock ROM with Odin I guess.
Recently i rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab(SGT) GT-p1000 that was brought from Singapore using the oneclickroot method.
My problem began when i heard about using heimdall to flash custom ROMS on the SGT. So i downloaded the Heimdall files and used heimdall frontend to attempt to root my SGT. Before that i had already used the zadig files to install the samsung composite USB driver. However as i boot my SGT into download mood, i accidentally pressed start to flash into my SGT with only the zimage and a wrongly selected Factoryfs file, These were taken from the BOCA rom I wanted to try to install.
Then i think i went into Boca's bootloader but i couldnt do anything. So i tried to reboot the device but it couldnt boot anymore. Just showed and android with an Exclamation mark. So i saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966015 and i thought that maybe i could use heimdall to flash back the default files. So i reflashed the new FactoryFS Zimage and Param.ifs provided by this new rom.
Now i can boot the phone normally into froyo 2.21, however now everytime i press the lock button the phone retarts. And everytime i try to connect to the internet using WiFi my phone restarts as well. 3g no longer works too. T_T
I can no longer connect to Kies and i tried reinstalling the drivers again but nothing would fix it. I cant use Heimdall or Odin to flash it anymore, Heimdall faced error -12 and Odin just kept trying to secure connection, but it never passes that point.
IM REALLY LOST AS TO WHAT TO DO. SOMEBODY HELP ME!!! PLEASE!

I don´t think this can help.
I think your problem is that you installed a incorrect rom for your tab model.
Download this:
http://overcome.mimzo.com/p1000/downloads/GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip
Reinstall samsung drivers.
and flash the file using odin, repartition checked.

Hmmm... Odin doesn't get connected , so ....
Probably Heimdall will also do the flash for you - Odin is just one Windows-based tool to flash that device. Heimdall should have the same features for differnt platforms (so you can use it also on MAC OSX and Linux)- give Overcome a trial - and don't forget to flash the modem, if you want a fully working device
Hi my friends,
Wanted to update my P1000 but failed. Have read one article, using Zadig to write something to my phone, the first step was alright, but the second step, open windows terminal then run 'heimdall flash --kernel zImage', the blue tab as said didn't come out. Now when turn it on it is stuck at Samsung logo, could go to downloading modle but not recovery model. Both Odin and Kies cant recognise the phone no matter how much I have tried to set up the driver. Have been reading many articles on the web still couldnt find out the solution. Anybody could kindly help would be much appreciated.
While in download mode, Odin still doesn't recognise your tab?

Have tried 3,4 companies, none of them could fix it.
Send it to Samsung
I think it´s the only help u can get
You wanted to use Heimdall, so you used Zadig to install the drivers? That's fine, but if you then decide to use Odin, you'll need to install the Odin drivers first as Odin doesn't work with the Heimdall drivers. You can install the Odin drivers if you've installed Kies on your computer, it contains the driver Odin needs (on my computer it's in a folder called USB Driver). If you don't have installed Kies, installing it will install the drivers. If you don't want to install Kies, you should be able to find the package containing only the drivers on the Net.
After installing the drivers, reboot the computer. Then put the Tab in Download mode, connect it to the computer, and start Odin. With a bit of luck it will now recognise the Tab.

Thank you so much for your kindly reply. I tried to use heimdall but it keeps saying the package was wrong. Should I look for a correct package then use Heimdall to fix it? I have installed Kies, but it wont recognize my device, Odin doesnt neither. I just dont know how do I set up the driver, would you be kindly enough to give me a link? Lots of thanks.
Are the Heimdall drivers installed correctly? If so, and if you can find a Heimdall package that can be flashed, then that's good too. If you want to use Odin, and you haven't reinstalled the Kies drivers after using Heimdall, I found the Kies drivers in folder C:\Program Files\Kies\USB Driver, and the file was named SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe. Just run it, and reboot your computer. Then switch off the Tab, and press and hold the On switch and Volume Down button until it starts in Download mode (the screen with the yellow text). Start Odin, and connect the Tab to the computer with the USB cable. Hopefully it will see the Tab (display the COM-port of the Tab). If it recognises the Tab, you can flash a new ROM.

If I recall correctly..I read somewhere here..that, If you wanted to use odin after you install hemidal..there is something that you must do first (delete or run a commands or something) before you can use odin..usually the instruction manual comes with the installer..or installed with hemidal itself..but, I don't know.. Maybe I'm wrong.. Because I never use hemidal before..

Odin will recognize your tab if you install the right drivers. On windows, it happens automatically, if you are connected to the net. As long as you can boot into download mode, you are safe. Dont worry, bricking a galaxy tab is very hard.
