Just wondering if there is going to be any new roms coming soon, there was a shed load for the desire to choose from, but I'm not hearing of any here at the minute.
I would like to see the OXYGEN rom on this phone which was my fav for the desire, seemed to be very quick and stable, with just the basics, it also didn't lag with loads of apps installed
i would love to see a VillainRom for this device
Oxygen is desire only rom i believe.
Villainrom lets hope so i always used villain and CM7 on Hero
As far as u know no 1 @villain has a o2x

I would love a clean "google experience" ROM (AOSP), not a stock ROM with a skin

Is it possible for there to be a HTC Sense Gingerbread ROM? I like Sense and I like Gingerbread. Thank you
well Kifno is making a "gingersense" when it will be done or stable? idk? but what you can do is get AOSPCMod and then download launcher pro and can put a sense like dock background, to make it more sense like. its what i do too, cause i agree with your statment haha
Or heLauncher. It has different layouts like sense and the one in the espresso roms.

yeah that too, i personally never tried that launcher though =]
but you can follow Kifnos thread to see the development of it or whatever.
itllbe very exciting if he finishes it. Cause all his other roms are just amazing
Awesome
Thanks a lot =D. I'm getting the hero and I want Gingerbread. So i'll download the launcher for now
yeah thats the best we Hero user got (as far as my knowledge) =\
warm regards and happy rooting
Hey guys I'm new to the Nexus One Forums....what's the most stable sense ui rom????

Anyone care to help out a newb???

There is no complete and functional Sense ROM for the last 1/2 year.
The only fully functional ROM was a port of Desire by eViL D:, called NXSense.
There were several Sense ROMs since then, some better, some worse, none fully functional. You might not miss the lacking functionality, depends on your needs - so I suggest you go to Developers section, search there, read, try and find what suits you.
I like CM7, but it's not very appealing to the eye. It's fast and all that but I'm looking for a ROM that's both beautiful and fast and of course stable. I'll think of ICS when it's much more stable. Maybe I'll run MiUI again. Oh, and it must have trackball wake. Or maybe it mustn't, so what about sense?

I wouldn't choose a ROM on the basis of it's appearance. That's what Themes are for.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167075
For my money CM7 is the best ROM. With so many themes and mods around it's up to you to make it look how you want it.

Ok, thanks for your input and thanks for the link.
What's the stock gingerbread firmware (2.3.6) like? Never tried it as my phone was delivered with cyanogen's CM7 build a few months back. Now, I run samuaz's CM7 build, though.
If you can recommend a better/faster CM7 kang/build, feel free to share.
Since CM doesn't pump out "official" nightlies anymore I've been using
temasek's kang build.
http://www.mediafire.com/temasek#2tyt9uzxa9ahx
another option is Euroskank kang builds
http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/gigglebread/
They're both good.
I am quite the fan of MIUI Roms. Currently I use QND MIUI found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084726 it's beautiful on the inside. But dress it up however u want using the theme manager. Or dig around on XDA for miui theme.

Hi everyone, I'm a HTC Incredible S user (stock) from Australia that has been increasingly frustrated with HTC support (lack of stock update to ICS due to carrier, Virgin Mobile), so I decided to take the matter to my own hand.
Question been: I have been browsing around the forum for various ROM to flash (read the important notices and all such), but one question come to mind... since I am using Go Launcher (free version, got sick with stock HTC sense) what are the con for said launcher? Is it recommended to replace stock/ROM launchers with it?
Thanks everyone for helping out.
It's up to you, I don't like Sense <=3.6 either.
I think the more popular launchers here on XDA are Nova and Apex.
The cons are that the Sense launcher will continue to use up memory as a system service but that can now be stopped using this.
Launchers are mostly for customization. Go launcher is among the best available to replace stock launcher. If you're going to root your device then you'll have the liberty to choose whether you want a sense based rom or just plain vanilla rom (rom without sense framework and interface).
As of my experience, I'm liking apex launcher for its simplicity and ease of use, but if you are willing to spend some bucks, i would recommend tsf launcher, nice eye candy yet still not a burden to system resources.

+1 for Apex - I like how you can change the name and icon for the app in the home screen among other customisations all for free.
Some apps in Google Play are great but their icons are sh1te
Thanks for suggestions guys! Much appreciated!
Just one more question to ask: which ROM is the best recommended to go for right now? I was thinking Nik's JB ROMs, but half afread the phone might not be able to run it smoothly (store mobile Incredible S with stock ICS update lag like hell...)
Thanks very much.
EDIT: opps forgot to mention, without HTC sense...
Smoothest experience and best battery/performance close to stock:
ARHD or The Second Sun rom
Nonverbose's kernel
ultrasmooth rosie
v6 supercharger
Andrev daemon
Project butter hacks
I agree with markj on his suggested rom and tweaks. If you're looking for non sense rom, give nik's jb rom a try.
EDIT : you tried that, my bad the rom still new, nik will further polish it in the future for sure
Personally, for plain-non sense-ics rom, i prefer icecoldsandwich together with those tweaks (minus kernel) mentioned.

I had the same experience as you when I updated with the OTA stock ICS update... almost hurled my phone at the wall with the lags and rubbish battery life.
IceColdSandwich worked well for me but I'm now using CodeName JB (I like to roll with the cool kids) and both have been very smooth, the latter much more so IMO.
A thing to note if you are snap happy - the camera quality in AOKP/AOSP ROMs will not be as good as Sense ones. Just something I noticed as well as others in XDA.
I'm currently satisfied with Stock, after trying 99% of the roms out there.
Now I want to flash MIUI v5 (3.9.13 is the latest as far as i know) and see if it is any good.
I see that MIUI isn't very popular here as it is on the Gnex forums or other devices such as sony and samsung forums.
What do you guys think about it - Good or bad ? please state why
Used it, was good but definitely not as slick and fast as stock. Also the recent task manager makes your widgets freeze I'd you clear all.

i'm using MIUI for 2 hours a week ago, but i flash a stock ROM back, because some reason:
the +
UI is great.. no chance for stock ROM to beat this up..
Theming.. you can find a ton of theming on the MIUI Theme (or whatever is called)
smooth..
the -
some theme isn't free, you have to pay some theme with MiCredit(What is this? how does it works?)
i don't know why, the gallery won't load any of my pic, this problem i have never find in stock ROM..
too many crap apps that you don't need, i don't know what name of that's apps because it's written with a chinese word..
so i decided to revert back to ultimate stock ROM..
Looking forward for their new work with Hugo Barra - Other than that, they have always been an iOS-Wanna-Be to me, even though they have nice features - Just another experience built on top of Android
They are trying to create their own Android experience. I tried it for a week and return to cm10.1. The reason is because it uses more ram tham cm when i cleared everything. Im not very font of having all apps in my homepage...and the animations make everything slow down a bit. Besides this i like it very much. Waiting for offical rom...

I just reverted to stock also. I did not experience lag at all, but the overall experience was slow. Ios and EVEN Ubuntu touch feels faster and snappier that that.
I use MIUI as my daily driver and I've got to say it is AMAZING!
BTW to get the Gallery and other devices to recognize your SD data you need a media scanner app
I use the Trinity Kernel and it rocks with great performance and battery life that fits my needs :3
I don't OC the CPU on this Kernel but I do have the GPU OC'd to 480 MHz
All in all it may not be stock android
But its worth a try :3

Why this is not popular here? Cuz there is no official rom for n4. All the versions you see here are ports. Miui experience is thus not the best, but its not too bad. Personally i am hooked to more features like pie and halo etc thus making miui a little less attractive.
What about the Miui roms you see on miui.com and xiaomi.eu/, are there any differences? Both are 3.9.13 and JB...

It's a great rom I'm till using it and love it. I mean it doesn't have that buttery smooth scrolling as the stock vanilla, but it's barley noticeable . Thanks goes to Datsun.510 for porting this rom onto the nexus 4
Looks pretty sweet...I've used the v5 theme, but the experience itself looks compelling, as do the themes:
http://en.miui.com/features.php
Not a big fan of MIUI, kinda reminds me of iOS.
The themes look nice tho but I rather stick to the vanilla android like experience.

Not the best rom out there. Then again that very sentence is subjective. I prefer a less skinned aosp type of rom.
looks good but it works bad in my opinion and since i'm not a big fan of chinese mobile, no offence but let's stick with the identity of pure google! :cyclops:
I fell in love with miui with my Galaxy SL i9003 then with my xperia arc s lt18i and now with my nexus, where battery life, interface and smoothness is incredible... Now I am not using it, but I allways come back
Ehhhhh its OK pretty simple and elegant but it has negatives also...in my opinion its mainly extra useless apps and no app drawer
