Want to add "Ringer Mode Selection" as a Launcher Item in HTC HomeScreen

I've got the 6 tab "HTC Homescreen" plugin installed on my AT&T Tilt.
Upon installation it included "Ringer Mode Selection" as one of the (9) launcher items. I accidentally removed it and now want to add it back, but when I attempt to re-assign it in the launcher, it doesn't appear in the app programs selection assignment list.
This launcher item is the one which allows you change the phone "ringer status" (on, off, vibrate, auto), and displays four ringer status boxes (icons) to select from. This item also displays & allows you to change the default ringtone sound.
How can I can get the phone "ringer status" selection item to appear in my launcher list again?

Ringer Mode Selection is actually a HTC Homescreen TAB
Thanks to Kavi's help via PM, I found the answer:
'Ringer Mode Selection' is actually one of the six HomeScreen TABS (Profile Tab), and not a launcher item as I mistakenly thought. I've now got the Profile (ringer mode selection) TAB back via HTC Home Customizer.

Umm just a word of caution if you use that tab and use calendar reminders. There is definitely some flakiness in the interaction between those 2 functions.
E.g. if you use calendar and have have events chime in to remind you of those events, then switch to slent or vibrate, sometimes those reminders will get shut off and wont ring even after you switch back to ring mode.
This has been a known proven issue for some time with the HTC Home app's "profiles" tab functionality. I thought it was fixed on the Kaiser, but I now know that it is still an issue. Its an issue with how it manages notifications in the WM database.
If you don't care about notifications, then it doesn't matter. But if you do, beware that sometimes you won't get your reminder notice or sound even if you switch back to ring profile after using the silent or vibrate profiles for even a short while.
I've since removed that tab from my HTC Home via the HTC Home Customizer app, and only use the Comm Mgr "Ring/Vibrate" toggle to make the switch back and forth. It works without causing the same issue above. A couple more presses, but nothing compared to missing meetings cuz the reminder doesn't fire.

Nice! So that is why that happens I could never quite place it when it happens once and a great while.
Know of any other good "touch based/home screen" profile selector?

If you have an appointment in the calender it will automaticly switch to vibrate.

net connection notification bubble & unessary services processes

1. Is there anyway to disable the notification bubble when Tilt notifies its connecting to the network, tired of preesing hide.
2. Is there any resource that identifies unessasary startup services/processes so as to disable them.
3. By the by has anyone expierienced the following.... Upon using the power button to turn off the backlight, the backlight will flicker on and off intermittently... seems to only happen when connected to power.

BTW, does this also disable the 'could not connect' notification bubble? This bubble often comes up while using tomtom navigator in an area where the network coverage is poor and tomtom traffic keeps trying to connect. The bubble comes up, then if you don't acknowledge, tomtom loses focus and screen goes into screensaver...... and so on. Highly annoying! and dangerous while driving!!

For a "resource identifier" I use Dinarsoft's MemMaid and SkTools. They have a clean option that sorts out registry issues and finds bad schorcuts and uninstall data. You could also see if the rom your using has HTC task manager in settings and just shut down open apps from there.
The screen flash when you press the power button happens on some roms, i forgot how to disable it (been out of the scene for a bit) but i'm sure you'll find the solution if u search for it.

Why do a reg edit when its already available in the settings?
Go to Sounds & Notifications in settings, notifications tab on the bottom (how you change your ring/msg tones) Click the "Event" drop down list and select Connection Established, uncheck the box "Display message on screen" .. there you go.

The sounds & Notifications fix does not prevent the 'could not connect' notification bubble for me. Too bad - I have a basement office where connectivity is intermittent at best. Even although I have a rock solid WiFi connection the 'could not connect' notification bubble interupts me a lot.

The short answer is that I had no idea it was there, but it's good to know now so I don't have to remember that registry entry. Thanks!

Trouble getting Car Mode to launch consistently? Here is a workaround.

Quick note for 4.4.2 and higher: I've upgraded to 4.4.2 and this method seems to have the reverse effect. The following tutorial applied to 4.3 and 4.4. If you have already followed this tutorial, upgraded to 4.4.2 or later, and Car Mode is not launching, disable or delete the "Kill App" action in the task.
Overview
If you are like me, you have a car dock and love to use the Car Mode on your HTC One. I'll let you know my setup below, but I believe this workaround will apply to any HTC One and car dock regardless of model. Keep in mind this is not a bug fix, rather a workaround.
My Setup
HTC One 64 GB (AT&T)
Rooted
ROM: Android Revolution HD 41.0 (at the time I wrote this)
Android 4.4 (tested on Android 4.3 as well)
HTC Car Dock
Symptoms
Docking your phone in your car dock after starting your car intermittently launches Car Mode.
Docking your phone prior to starting your car will launch Car Mode successfully every time.
When Car Mode does not successfully launch, you have to reboot your device (soft or hard reboot) to get it to work again.
What you need
Root
Tasker
Using Tasker to set up a workaround
Note: These are the steps to set up the profile and tasks. Alternatively, you can extract the attached ZIP file and import the XML file to Tasker.
In Tasker, go to the 'Tasks' tab
Click the '+' icon (New Task Name)
Enter a name for the task. I used "Car Mode Off'
In the Task Edit view, click the '+' (New App Action)
Select Action Category 'App'
Select App Action 'Kill App'
In App Selection, choose 'Car'. You will go back to the Action Edit view and the Car app/icon will be selected.
Check "Use Root" (I believe this is required since Car Mode is a system app)
Tap the back button twice to go back to the Tasks tab.
Go to the Profiles tab.
Click the '+' icon (Add Profile)
In the Context menu, select 'State'
Select State Category 'Hardware'
Select Hardware State "Docked'
In the State Edit window, select the Type 'Car'
Click the back button to display the Task Selection menu.
Select the task name from the menu that you created in Step 3.
If the new profile is not already expanded, tap the profile name (by default it will be named "Docked Car"
Long press the Task that currently shows as an Entry Task (green arrow pointing to the right) and choose 'Move to Exit'
Now that your profile is set up, press the Back or Home capacitive button on your device to save the profile.
After I did this, I had 100% success rate in launching Car Mode. I did have one issue after playing around with the profile a bit, so if you find that you have a static, non-clearable notification in your Notification Bar that says 'Speak' is running because Car Mode is active, know that it is a liar. It's not actually running. You can verify this by doing a three-finger tap on your screen and find that nothing happens. If Car Mode was indeed running, the Speak app would launch and ask for a voice command. To get rid of this notification (which is pointless anyway, IMO), do the following:
With your phone NOT in Car Mode, go to Settings > Apps > All > Speak
Uncheck 'Show Notifications'

Use search

I'm a long time Tasker user and cannot think using any device without it.
The main thing I use it for are:
- automatic change of audio volumes based on time and location;
- hourly chime;
- missed notifications reminder;
- automatic switch GPS ON/OFF when using maps;
... Other little things depending on specific ROM I'm using ...

Macro droid is pretty good, A tad easier to setup tasks

For me, Tasker knocked me down. I use Automateit Pro, a little bit more user friendly and does the job accurately.

I am using macro droid. Its really smooth and user friendly. Not as versatile as Tasker may be but it almost serves all the needs with more macros. It was my first purchase from google play.

Only use it to turn volume down when I arrive at the office.

Tasker and Secure Settings. I use it to:
1) Set ringtone to vibrate between 11pm to 6am
2) Trigger high accuracy GPS when I open waze.
3) Auto rotate only when in the camera, gallery, youtube and a few others.
4) Switch between edge and HSPA (to save battery) i.e. only swtich to hspa when youtube, web browser or app that needs a fast data connection is active.
5) Send emergency SMS to certain people when battery reaches to 10% (hardly ever happens but hey safe than sorry)
6) Switch to car mode (app) when connected to my bluetooth headset.
7) Open up emulator when game controller is connected.
8) When within range of my home town cell tower, switch on wifi, similarly when out of range of the tower, wait 2 mins then switch off wifi.

Do any of these require root?

I can't recall but I think secure settings requires root, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Most of them don't. Secure settings trigger different gps modes.

Llama - is similar, as some alright features
I personally went for tasker and added secure settings
After 3 failed unlocks, takes picture on front cam and logs location
when face down, set phone to silent
when near home or work turn wifi on
when at home and connected to wifi, turn lock off
when connected to bluetooth in car turn lock off
on boot set lock to on

similar to others... other additions:
> read SMS sender and text contents while connected to car bluetooth [developing] (anyone know the right audio channel to play notifications through?)
> shake vertically to lock device (too big to always reach power button)
and per someone's earlier question yes you need root for secure settings to do most of its worthwhile tasker actions. although my secure settings is not working for enabling/disabling pattern unlock in 5.0 [liquidsmooth v4.0 unofficial]

I mainly use it to control the lights at home. I haven't been able to think of any other use cases for me

Below are the Tasker Profiles that I use:
1. Turn Wifi On when I'm connected to a cell tower near home. Turn off when I exit.
2. Notify to take my ID card when disconnected from wifi (reminds me in the elevator)
3. Turn on silent mode when I'm connected to a cell tower near office.
4. Switch to 2G when screen is off.
5. Turn on location for Maps, Uber, etc. Turn off when not using.
6. Increase the display timeout when using Feedly, Facebook, Play Store, etc. Change it back to 15 secs when not using.

Superquick:
New Profile "Shake it off" > Event > Shake Backwards & Forwards > Sensitivity = High, Duration = Medium > New Task "LockSystem" > If %SCREEN ~ on > System Lock
Note the "IF Screen ~ ON" otherwise while your phone is in your pocket it will keep locking which is not a problem untill you try to run with your phone playing music and you get the lock sound effect every step you take
The "Shake Backwards-Forwards" is not intuitive but the shake actions are sort of misnamed in tasker. This locks the phone if you shake it up and down vertically [insert masturbation gesture here].
The medium duration is also key so you get the right kind of threshold for not having the screen go off while you ride the bus but also not having to shake it for a while.

Hello,
I am using Tasker with some of the following tasks/settings...
Sound and Timeout profiles for Home, Out, Work and Night situations.
Toggle between different screens in Lightning launcher for Home, Out, Work or Night situations.
They than look similar to the Smart Screen Launcher screens.
Capturing notifications and displaying them in situations when I want them to appear, including sound and/or vibration.
Retrieving Sunrise/Sunset times and weather information, displaying the info via Zooper Widget.
Setting different wallpapers according the time and location during the day.
Adding the current location to for instance Evernote (like the app Where Am I).
A working time registration including reporting worked hours.

Turn screen lock off on wireless power

Hey all, I have a profile I've made that isn't working quite right. It's supposed to turn the screen lock off when my phone is wirelessly charging (I use a pin lock). I've set the profile up to turn on when it's connected to wireless power, and I'm using the Secure Settings plugin Keyguard Disable.
It sort of works. If I turn my screen back on it will bypass the screen lock. However, if I go to a different app or to my home screen the screen lock will come on and ask me to enter my pin. I'd like it to turn the screen lock off completely until I've removed my phone from wireless power.
I'm using a Nexus 5 running Lollipop and XPosed.
