[Q] Green Signal Strength - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using CM7, and in the notification bar where it shows the time, signal strength, battery, etc... Sometimes the phone signal (the bars) and internet connection status shows up in the color green. Other times it shows up in the color white. What do the colors mean, and why the difference??? Thanks...

Green means you're connected to Google or something. Mainly I think they're there to confuse people. If you install a theme without those icons you don't see that.
~maybe I set it too high...

If it was the theme... Then why would it change between white and green?? The theme has not changed, but the color of the signal and internet status have.. ??? Thanks.

Right..I'm not saying it's because of your theme. When it's green your connected to Google. When it's white you're not. IF you install a custom theme many will not have that. Some will leave that working the same but use different colors.

What do you mean by "connected to google"? Syncing with google perhaps?

Most likely Google Talk's servers. I believe signing into, or having the google talk app is still required to access the Android Market. Haven't heard anything about that lately though.

Well, one is there to tell you which services are available, I believe (the one above the signal strength bar), and one is there to tell you which service you are connected to (the white letters). I think

Gingerbread Green Color Code

Throughout the forums, not just XDA, i see a lot of people try and imitate the Gingerbread Green of the battery, signal bars, wifi bars, etc for their fonts of other home screen apps and/or widgets and some are close and some should just use a completely different color because it is so damn off.
I just thought i would share the Gingerbread Green color code for those that do not haveith:
Not actual green~~~>#82B600<~~~Not actual green.
Sorry if its a repost and if it is, some people just havent seen it...
Thanks and remember, don't Drink and Theme, someone might just get hurt...

[Q] All Black Everything

So i have been trying to get a black background that is truly black.
everything i have tried has left a slight hue on the background. back 2 black is not supported or i would have tried that.
is there any way to get background to remain off completely and only light the pixels for the icons, clock, notification etc etc. i notice the info bar at the top is darker than my black background and no matter what i cant get the background to go completely black.
my reasoning is if i make the icons into line art, and keep as much of the screen off wherever i can i can stretch battery life even further. it worked wonders on my gs2. But having a slightly glowing background ruins all that.
I'm not sure whether it's supported, but you can try making a monochrome bitmap-file (.bmp) in MsPaint. At least you are sure this way that the black is truly black.
Have you tried using different launchers? Are you sure the hue is not just your icons giving some 'bleeding'?
thanks, i will give that a try.
its the same with go launcher and touchwiz. its actually magnified on the lockscreen showing lots of banding.
Try this pic. I use it on mine and looks black

My first Note did this so I sent it back. My new one does not do it.
still no luck, apps with black backgrounds look fine.
i tried an all black bitmap and that didnt work either.
is there any way to turn background off and just leave it blank? would that give me a pure black background?
like i said i dont think its a hardware problem since the app backgrounds look deep black unlike the wallpaper. i did see something about the note only being 16 bit and that was causing weird display issues due to scaling or something, blah blah.
its using 24bits
thats right, the note is 24 bit and the os operates in 16 bit currently, right? either way i need to find a way to fix it.
I used a plain black GIF. Works fine for the home screen background, but on lock screen it has barely noticeable dark gray lines in it until you touch it and the unlock symbol appears.
here is the one i made
this black is one color 24 bit png on my note it is completely black at any brightness. let me know if it works. 800 x 1280 black correct dpi blackground

or download "no wallpaper" from the market - simple app that just adds a wallpaper that is totally black. Works a treat.
Try an app called COLOURS by Tim Clark

[Q] Data traffic icons in status bar changes colours?

I got the LG Optimus 2X. I notice, that normally when I use data on my phone, the 3G/E/WIFI icon in the notification/status bar is green. But sometimes, and usually when I launch the Foursquare app., the icons turn white instead and I have problems getting data.
Is this a problem? Or what do the change in colours means?
Searching the forums, I found this in another context, but can't verify it anywhere:
The data/wifi/signal colours in the status bar are meant to be only cyan/green/theme colour when you are connected to the google servers, otherwise they are white. It is a feature of stock gingerbread.

Can anyone confirm this?

[Q] Ginger DX - Icons color from status/notification bar

Hi there!
I've been using Ginger DX for a couple days now and I noticed that sometimes the icons on the status/notification bar have a green color, mostly when there is a icon that is active and changing like the data traffic icon, the wifi icon... is it normal? Is there a way to set the green color (or any other color) forever, without needing these active icons?
Thanks in advance!
The green color of the [WiFi / 3G / GSM Radio] icons indicate that your phone has sucessfully connected with Google's servers.
If they are just "grey" it means you are either offline or, in case WiFi and/or 3G is enabled, your phone is not connected to any Google account (read: you didn't setup your phone to sync with Google or you turned off background data sync altogether).
Got it! Thanks for the quick and clear answer...
You're welcome.
Note that, if the X8 will ever get a fully working Ice Cream Sandwich ROM, the color of the icons changed to blue.
Hello again.
Is there a way to change these colors?

There is ... it is called "edit the framework". That's a task you most likely don't want to tackle as you would mess around with a system component, and every mistake could lead to unforeseeable problems.
If you feel brave enough search the forums - there are several threads around about this topic (start with a search for "change battery icon" and go from there)
