I have read that some people see the attraction to gingerbread is the CRT OFF shutdown animation. There is also a growing problem with people bricking their phones in an attempt to install gingerbread. So here is the solution to people who want the crt animation but would rather wait till gingerbread is a little easier to install.

Nice! Working well on the Captivate I presume?
This has been around for awhile, and it's not the actual, much desired, screen off animation.... This replaces the shutdown animation for when you power off the phone, that's all.
does this work with all 2.2.1 rom or what？just flash it in？i love the animations but stick to froyo for now. if this works that would be really nice！ thank you ！

Just as a note to OP or other people that will inevidibly ask this is a "SHUT DOWN" animation as stated by the OP. gingerbread has a crt "SLEEP" animation that...well..looks sexy and is completly different than what this is.. Cheers!

im super partial to blue. the flip animation in the launcher is so sick it has huge potential and people are sleeping on this rom

I like this theme, but do not thank me. I didn't create the theme. The nice guy at sdx developers did. I don't claim any credit. Only posted it here, because no one knew about it.
Man are you guys hungry for themes or what? I just posted my teaser last night at SDX and its already over here. I plan on adding more and more as time goes on but no promises as its just a time killer for me. Go Epic!
P.S. thanx for the feedback that it works on other roms. I think as long as they are de-odexed it should be fine. And the android raises his arm for a few of the battery reporting stages as it was taken from one that didn't have enough images.

Doesn't froyo come with option to play sound when shutting down/powering up screen? Could this sound maybe be modified to play animation instead of sound? This is just a suggestion to devs around. I don't have the skill set to pull this off. I reccon there could be something usefull inside the froyo source code around the powering up sound part.

apparently, over at the vibrant dev forums, they've got some "JK2" roms that have window animations ive never seen before....really cool looking stuff
one of the devs over there says its part of the framework....anybody tried to unlock these animations or are they possibly just part of the JK2 rom specifically?

Yeah it's just a shutdown animation. I'm waiting as well for this to be figured out as a screen lock animation. I normally turn off all animations but that is one I really can't wait for.

Hey, do any off you guys know if it's possible to get the Gingerbread screen off animation for HTC Sense?
Cm7 has it and miui. It its a nexus s thing not a gingerbread thing. When the first leak of gingerbread came out they found a way to add it in, but I do not recal how. I am running miui, I can try to find the files and post them later but I would not know how you could apply.

Its also included in Oxygen Tom, if that helps. Its a pretty basic but lightning fast rom and its always quite fast with releases to keep it up to date with AOSP. Definitely recommend.
