I just saw this! Follow @P3Droid on twitter for any updates! My guess by Friday Clockwork will be up!
Good afternoon everyone. According to a reliable source we have just been informed that the Motorola Droid 3 now has a fully functioning recovery. This is great news for those that want to have the flexibility that CWR brings to the Android line of devices. Currently we don't have the specifics regarding the method of installation but according to P3 more information will follow soon..
I know there are a lot of excited D3 owners and Devs out there hearing this. I also hope this means we'll see the X2 and the Bionic to Follow. Let the Backups and Flashing begin.

For real? That'd be epic and amazing!
Wow that's humongous!
does that mean people who update the leaked OTA on to their phone could potentially flash back to original stock?
Yummy.

I actually dont like some things the OTA has done and would rather have a bit of a blue tint than some other stuff.

Not really caring about roms. My main concern, right now, is if someone backs a backup of the bone stock pre OTA phone, with clockwork recovery, will i be able to install it on to my phone?
I think the best part of this so far is that nandroid is working (ie: backups can be made & flashed w/o the hassles of using RSDLite and waiting for SBFs). Great news! One step closer to Cyanogen.

I believe its possible, but not practicle or easy. You have to change a bunch of stuff to the backup and then I'm pretty sure you have issues with the esn and stuff, but I could be wrong. I remember it being discussed once, but that was many months ago.

There are still ways to get CM7 running on the Blur kernel. And overclock it with modular overclocking.
I hope to see this phone at 1.5 ghz someday. But what I really want is a stock themed debloated rom. Recovery means we're about have roms, so I can't wait!

Basically what it means is that you can install any rom made for the droid 3. Different "cooks/chefs" (people who cook or make roms) will make roms ranging from stock 2.3.4 (sans blur) to modified "improved" 2.3.4 stock droid rom to new versions that have leaked like the upcoming Ice-cream os and maybe even Jelly Bean.
Truly unicorns here. I remember when I had the D1 the battery life was barely better than what we have now. Liquid cooked up a rom that gave me a 2 day battery life with heavy use.
Not to mention hotstpotting and other cool things. I doubt getting past or fooling the Efuse is too difficult after the unlocked bootloader.
Look at how far development has come on the Milestone despite its locked bootloader; granted, it's been almost 2 years since that phone came out but it certainly is possible to squeeze way more performance out of these bad boys than is possible with their stock representation!
Can't wait to see what happens in the next few months!

I'm out of testing phase but decided to keep this up. This is just a stock kernel with a modified ramdisk to allow the use of scripts in a init.d folder. Its nothing special other than that. Ill start digging into getting an OC kernel going now.
This will work with any Thrill rom. The only exception is on Thrill Seeker you must go into /system/etc/init.d and delete the file called "999switch"
While anything is possible, this kernel will NOT brick your phone. It fully boots and, as far as I can tell, runs fine. Ive also included the stock kernel in a flashable zip. You flash them the same way you would flash a rom. NO wiping of anything is needed.

yeah its still the stock kernel (hence, hyoungjin ). just a modified ramdisk to see if it will boot (which it did).
Can you guys run cpu spy and see if the phone is sleeping? (those that got it before i pulled it )
Yup, deep sleep 60%... 13 of the last 24 or so minutes..

Have you tested it on any GB roms? If not i'm thinking of trying it out, do you think there's any risk of breaking my phone if I do or is a bootloop the worst case scenario?

Battery life is looking fantastic with this.
I don't know if you were planning on doing another Thrill Seeker update rom or not. But if you do, can you throw this in the ROM?
And I don't suppose you could ask tekahuna if you can throw his OC kernal in the updated Thrill Seeker ROM if you do an update.
Suddenly the Thrill section is blowing up!

Maybe its just me!!! but I find that after updating to ICS 4.0.3 on note the ram usage is always quite high, as always around 600-700. does anyone else have this problem ?
Another problem i find is the lag in the camera? like when you take a picture and then scroll through picture you've taken, after press the back key and it lags for a while before returning to home screen..
PLease say it isnt just me
p.s Ive got the TGY(hong kong) version of ICS officially from kies!!
+1 i oso got problem is the ram...it is very high...higher than gingerbread...any suggestion??
Suggestion:
go to a cm9 build ROM with a "safe" kernel as well.

Just a word of warning....a factory reset or any kind of wipe could hard brick your device on official samsung roms.
Don't wipe!! It could trigger the eMMC bug and possibly brick your phone if you try to flash anything. The best advice is to flash a safe gb rom using pc odin and wait until a solution comes out.

I thought brick problems was caused by cwm wipes, i dont think.the emmc problem is being experienced by those of us using stock.only? ?? I have looked at quite a few threads and it appears to me only people who root get the issue may be wrong but i peesoannly think.stock only should be safe

I think likewise, there is one case of bricking using the wipe in stock recovery (XXLPY if I didn't remember wrongly), but the person has rooted his phone using Dr Ketan method (temp cwm + su-busybox installer), so is still not a pure official stock rom imo.
I just finally upgraded to official ICS and using LP9...
So far everything is buttery smooth.
Just a question.. Is doing a factory reset (under Backup & Reset) the same as wiping thru the Recovery Mode?

Beg to differ.. On official ics upon factory reset its unlikely that one would hard brick the phone...

Your first question no one can answer yet. Time will tell.
Yes you can flash the wifi version on the 3g tab.it will work without 3g functionality.
Make sure you completely charge your battery (with tab switched off) before flashing to minimize problems!
also do a complete wipe (factory reset) before flashing!
you don't have much to lose just try it!

Well.... there is Broken Out 3.0 which opened the door for roming on this device....
Eclipse Rom.... which was second
Black Plague 1.0 which is IMO the best of the options.... including the kernel that comes as a separate flashable zip .... it has the best on battery life as well as lagfree performance and undervolting.... also has a higher charge rate included.... and zram swap enabled....
There is also Holo 3.2.6 which is essentially a themed rom.....
Ninjroid is an option as well....
Oh and Plagued Optimus V1....
You can find all these here..... it just takes a bit of searching and you will have everything you need at your finger tips....
Oh and kernel wise .... there is a flashable blitzkrieg ..... plague kernel.... and popcorn kernel....
this is incomplete but it does list the best of the best

Why can't anyone work on porting these ROM's to the vs930
why post about the vs920 here?
i am curious as to why this phone does not have its own thread. it needs to be available in the device selection list and i intend to make it happen. i cant find it except by using the general search tool. i cant find old roms for the phone here (gingerbread rom files, mirrors or anything helpful to restore to stock) so that we can do something useful for it.
