When I connect my usb cable to try and connect my SGS to either my XP PC or laptop or to my Mac Mini it doesnt work. Nothing at all happens on the MAC but on the windows devices it tells me there is a USB failure. I cant connect even in mass storage mode. Never mind in Kies.
Its very frustrating as I cant put anything on my phone. Strangely lately it was asking to choose Kies, Mass Storage or media when the mains charger was plugged in.
Any ideas greatly appreciated. Tried a factory restore but it is still the same.
Kies reinstall/update drivers .

I just got the Captivate last week. I've noticed that it doesn't recognize the USB connection if I just plug in the cable at "normal" speed. If I plug in the USB cable s-l-o-w-l-y the phone recognizes the cable and everything works. If I don't plug in s-l-o-w-l-y the computer gives me a USB inserted sound but the phone doesn't seem to know it is connected.
I've also noticed that the phone will (with the slow insertion) always say usb connected once the cable is inserted even if the computer end is not connected.
Anyone else experience this? Thoughts? Bad phone or bad cable?
What ROM are you using?
What USB Drivers do you have installed if any?
What OS are you running?
Pretty much it depends... if your using a custom ROM that could be the culprit though it doesn't sound like it from what you have posted.
Try re-installing your USB drivers for the Samsung Captivate. Make sure your running the correct version. (Search for Design Gears OTA Odin 1 Click post - has the drivers linked there).
And of course... it could be your computer itself. Reboot fixes 90% of all computer issues
Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband I897UCJH7
Stock - not rooted. Drivers do not seem to be the issue. It happens on multiple computers. Rebooting phone and/or computer does not change things. Same under Windows and Linux.
I kind of have to slowly inch the USB cable into the phone until the phone recognizes it. If the computer end is not connected to anything, the phone sometimes still will recognize the USB cable and say USB connected. If I plug the phone end in first, then the computer end the phone doesn't recognize the connection.

Hello every1.
I have a problem here.
When I plug in my USB cable to my S4A and connect it to PC, I get only charging and NO USB CONNECTION.
No USB debugging, no anything but phone charging.
Anyone has an idea what of system files should I look at for that?
I've tried SG Mass Storage enabler (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mohammadag.samsungusbmassstorageenabler) and after that it stop connecting.
What does that app do and change, so what should I revert to stock state??
Please help.
Some Windows setup needs to be repaired to properly identify USB connected hardware. I have a link to fix it in my thread

So, for some reason, my windows 8.1 machine won't recognize my S6 as a storage device. It's worked previously, but it just doesn't see it now for some reason. The phone is charging, so I know it's connected.
I've tried different USB cables and diff USB ports, rebooting the phone and computer didn't do anything.
Really weird.
Suggestions?
As the title says, i can not get my PC to recognize nor will it connect to my phone. It will charge so i know its connected but no matter what PC or port it will not allow me to open up the phone storage or SD card. I have updated USB drivers, its got the debug enabled, tried kies ( hate it) and different cables both big connector and micro connector. Just would like to connect and sort / clean out the phone. Any one have other ideas? its 5.0, july 2015 kernel.
It seems like my rooted A6+ doesn't recognize my PC. It charges but I don't get the choice to transfer files and it doesn't appear on my PC not even as an unrecognized device.
At first I thought it was a problem with my PC or my USB Cable but my friend had come over and used that same USB Cable to connect his phone to my PC and it worked just fine. The USB Cable had also worked before since it was the USB Cable that I used to root my phone. I feel like it's a software issue in my phone and not a hardware issue. Any ideas?
