[Q] Drawing sensitivity - Nook Color General

Anyone know any tricks to getting better sensitivity out of the screen for drawing? I was playing around with Autodesk Sketchbook and you can't even draw a circle without going all wonky. Same app and stylus on my Nexus One are smooth as butter.

Increase touch sensitivity on NC

In one of the builds for Honeycomb from blue, he mentioned that he increased the screen sensitivity. Is there a way to increase it further? I bought a stylus and its pretty crappy on the nook using sketchbook express, but its great on my iphone using the same app. I'm sure the screen isn't as great as the iphone but wonder if there was a software way to improve it.
Thanks.
Not sure exactly how to manipulate it in the kernel, but according to this page you can recalibrate the unit while face down to make the screen super-sensitive.

I found a great control for tab

so i found this buttons... so i bought them.. they actually work great a bit off the screen but nothing that interrupt the game play... so i guess i wont be doing anything lol no need these are inexpensive and practical....
so i wont let me post the link... search it on ebay by Ten One Design Fling Joystick Ninja iPad 2&1
Is this it ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/C26-Ten-One-Design-Fling-Joystick-Controller-Ninja-iPad-/220738850157
Will that work on our tabs
Can you take a picture of the joysticks on the tab? Curious how well it fits since it's made for the ipad.
That thing looks MASSIVE
yes they are kind of big but it does not affect the gameplay when playing landscape.... ill try to put some pic this week...
Bought a set of 2 from ebay as well after reading the recommendation here. The suction cups goes off the viewable area of the screen a little but it fits and works fine and doesn't obstruct gameplay. Played Death Worm for 2 hours with it and a bit of Gun Bros with both to control movement and firing and it really made controlling a lot easier than using my finger. The only issue that I should note is that if you have a screen protector that uses the material like Zagg's Invisible Shield, Ghost armor, or skinomi (basically the rubbery type protectors) it makes extreme movements a bit difficult because of the friction with that type of material. Honestly, it happens with my fingers too so I don't blame the joystick. All in all I highly recommend it if you play games that have a large touch joystick. Currently waiting on normal plastic screen protectors and will see how the joystick work with them.
Thanks for all the help guys.
Thanks!!!

Kensington Virtuoso Touch stylus first thoughts

This one :- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kensington-...X39I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342685483&sr=8-1
It's very well made and has a good heft to it, feels like quality. I've only been able to test it on my TP as N7 still on the slow boat from Timbuktoo, the TP is not as sensitive as the N7 and pressure sensitive apps don't seem to work on it so more on that when the N7 arrives. That said the stylus is very responsive and the tip does not 'stick' to the screen although I suppose it depends what (if any) screen protector you have and how tacky it is so ymmv.
The pen end is not a gimmick, it takes Parker refills so that's a big plus point, the lid clips on firmly and the pocket clip is very strong but there's nowhere to store the cap when you are using the pen as it won't fit over the stylus tip, that's a minor problem though..
I have only one big gripe but which could be a problem if you intend to use it for long periods, when using the stylus end the balance point is too far back for my liking and the stylus wants to tip back all the time, given it's weight this is noticeable quite quickly. The balance point is a tiny bit forward of the line of the cap joint which is about the two thirds mark. You can ease the problem by taking the cap off the end but that exposes the pen nib with all the dangers of drawing on your hand/clothes as well as the screen.
As I said above, it's a well made piece if kit and well worth the money, I've used a few styluses from checp nasty ones to better quality, this one is by far the best I've used yet even given the balance issue.
I got this as well and am very happy with it! This is my first tablet, so maybe I don't know what a real good stylus is, but it feels really natural to use and I actually prefer it over using my fingers. Plus less smudging and the pen is handy as well
Got my N7 this morning and have had time to play with it, compared to the TP the screen responsiveness is in another league altogether.
The stylus is smooth running across the (as yet) unprotected screen and pressure sensitivity works very well, the Kensington gets a couple more stars from me
Update, Three weeks later and while the stylus is still as good to use, the pen cap is getting loose (rubber O ring a bit thin) which means it can come apart when hung from the clip. Drops a star for that.

There is no pressure sensitivity on the Nexus 7, why do you keep mentioning this?

My guess....he's using Quill or a similar app which has a tool that somehow manages to mimic pressure sensitivity.

I wonder if there's an app that can transfer pressure sensitivity via Bluetooth or WiFi.

I spoke of pressure sensitive Apps, not the N7 screen. I can't speak for all Apps but Markers is one that responds well to the stylus. I think it may be sensing tip coverage but it goes much further than just the area touched by the stylus (or your finger) try it and you'll see what I mean.
Final thought on this stylus, I've given up on it!
The tip went soft and started dragging on the screen and I got to dislike the feel of the stylus so much (especially the surface roughness) that I had to force myself to use it, so it's consigned to the drawer. I can use the pen refill elsewhere.
Moved on now to an Applydea Maglus, opinions pending

I got the silver elago stylus for 10 bucks, made of aluminum, removable soft tip, nice length, width, weight, and it includes an additional soft tip

I've had to ditch this stylus too - after about a month of smooth note taking using Quill the stylus has started to skip when writing, i've no idea why as it still looks solid enough and the screen is fine. But it keeps dropping out and makes it impossible to use now as a stylus...
Just recieved a Smith & Wesson tactical stylus and its fantastic on the N7 so far - works really well with the pressure effects in Quill too!
So bye bye Virtuoso

Mine has become totally unusable now, the tip seems sticky and will not run across the screen smoothly.

[Q] Funny S-Pen behaviour

Hello all
I am experiencing some really strange behaviour from my S-Pen. I cannot tell if it's ROM related, Kernel related, or Screen protector related.
Basically what happens is the screen registers an S-Pen touch, when the S-pen is NOT touching the screen. I seems like there is this hot spot about 5mm above the screen where if the pen hovers in this space, the phone thinks I'm actually touching with the pen.
This is obviously very annoying, because if I use the pen, and move around the screen without touching, the phone thinks I'm dragging my pen across the screen
Some info about my phone:
GT-N7000
Paranoid Android ROM 2.1
HydraKernel 4.2
A cheap clear screen protector (CYGNET brand)
Almost all these things happened at the same time, so I cannot tell who is the culprit.
Anyone else experiencing similar behaviour?
This is a common behaviour when you use your phone while lying down.
It registers the touch in about 3 mm gap most of the times.
This is not linked to any specific kernel or Rom.

The spen puts out a magnetic field that's picked up as touch on the screen, so above poster is correct, it's normal behaviour. If you're concerned that it's off placement, there's a calibration app in the Play Store, quite expensive I think, but effective as there are no samsung alternatives...

Thanks for the reply
It happens regardless of me lying down or sitting up. I can't remember that it was like this when I got the phone. If its normal, it's really bad from samsung, as the spen is useless to me.
As I move the tip toward the screen, about 3-5mm away a touch is briefly registered. Then nothing untill the tip makes contact with the screen where another touch is recognized. The "floating" touch registers almost no pressure, however.
The effect of this is when I write with the pen, it looks like I attempted cursive writing with a pen that's semi dried up.
It also makes playing abgry birds impossible with the spen, as now the moment I release the pen to fire a bird, a second touch is regognized when the pen hovers in that hot zone, which will cause all the special birds to perform their special acts way premature.
This can'nt be normal, can it?

[Q] Anyone found a good stylus recently?

Just wondering if anyone has found a good stylus recently.
I'm using the wacom bamboo, but its kind of choppy, especially for sketching etc.
The finger is definitely better. Thanks.
Nothing beats the Adonit Jot Pro imo.
