It's a perfect fit for the 7" Galaxy Tab. Note that this bag's primary purpose is NOT to hold my Galaxy Tab ! First and foremost, it securely carries my credit cards, ID papers, driving license, cash purse, business cards, pen + notepad, headphones, bits n bobs (lots of them), etc.
Despite being steel-reinforced in places, the bag is very lightweight. The materials ooze quality, and the design is sleek, discrete. The bag provides excellent protection in pick-pocket-prone areas.
The compartments inside don't waste valuable storage space (and they help keeping things tidy, readily-available). I like the hole for the headphones (to listen to music or answer a call whilst the mobile device is securely locked in the bag).
I love the detachable strap with its quick-release secure twist-lock (it can be used as shoulder or hip strap). I love the zip locks, which make it much harder, even for skilled pick-pockets, to reach inside the bag when standing in a queue or a crowded street.
UPDATE:
The device fits nicely inside the main compartment, with no strain on the zip (which is curved at the top, as you can see from the pictures). The Galaxy Tab doesn't fit in the main inner "pocket", as it sticks-out by a few millimeters too high (I use this pocket for my passport and other paperwork). There is nothing inside the bag that is likely to scratch the device, so I just slide the Galaxy Tab straight into the main pocket. Works well for me.
I don't leave the silicon skin on the Tab, not because of the extra padding (which is minimal) but because of the added friction (silicon is "sticky"), which makes it *really* hard to push the device into the bag. My leather "book-like" cover also fits inside the bag, but it wastes valuable room inside it, so I don't carry the cover when I'm truly "on the move" --> i.e. I carry both the leather cover and the silicon skin separately on my trips, and use them in situations where they are useful (e.g. the leather magnetic folio acts as a landscape stand, the silicon material is most useful as an anti-slip agent).

Nice bag! Looks pretty small, got any pics of it with the Tab inside?

Thanks for the info!
I use a casecrown suede sleeve case with my Tab amd wanted slip the entire thing into the pacsafe. A local retailer might carry the metrosafe 100 so I'll check it out.

Im using a small travel bag by Delsey, a bit smaller than that one but the tab sits nicely inside horizontaly and vertically. Top cover is a flap with magnets.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab.

Looks very nice BUT it defeats the purpose of having a 7" tab if I'm going to carry a bag imo.

looking good, where to buy it

Custom Case for SGT

Has anyone tried building a custom case for their SGT? I ask because I intend to make one and your notes would be appreciated Im sure people will ask 'Why build a custom case when there are tons available?' Well I fancy myself a DIYer, and I want my SGT to stand out at work, and 'blend in' when I'm out and about. Sad to say I live in a country where carrying a nice gadget around is asking for trouble, so I'd like to disguise my SGT as a regular planner or hardbound book. I'll put up some pics when I get it done, maybe even put up a step by step guide if anyone's interested.

Can't wait to see it, wish u can get it done soon
I was thinking of creating a custom case at a moment. When I looked for something to start from I realised DVD boxes have almost the same size as the tablet.
Might give ideas to some.

I bought a hardbound book from a sale for the prototype. Figured I could practice on it before buying a perfectly good planner only to destroy the pages heheh. More updates soon!

Here is my custom case...
Made from bubble wrapped mailing envelope, cut down to size - by placing tab on a 'corner' of envelope and tracing out a pattern with 1/4" or so of extra envelope material. I then stylishly wrapped and sealed the sized down envelope with my favourite multi-purpose wrap and fastening material. Stylish and functional!
After a few weeks of use, I noticed the bubble wrap had a tendency to leave a smudge pattern on the screen, when I extracted the tab. So I split the case back open (on a seam), and lined the front inside surface with some lint free cloth that came with some piece of hardware I had acquired over the years. I fastened the cloth using some small strips multi-purpose fastener. I re-sealed the envelope with another layer of multi-purpose fastener/wrap. No more smudges!
planned upgrades:
add a scrap of velcro to the flap and case body (probably use 2-part epoxy for this)
fabricate small pocket on front of case, so I can tuck in a few small nick/nacks (ear phones, small BT device, usb cable). I will probably make this from multi-purpose wrap/fastener and add a velcro tab to close it.
.....
I had made a decent neo-prene sleeve for my Dell Mini 9; years gone by. I have much left over neo-prene and plan to make a sleeve for my TAB. This was made as a stop gap solution until I find the time to make the sleeve. (OTH, I just ordered a new man-bag, that may make the need for a new sleeve/case obsolete).
one of the medium sized black and white covered composition notebooks (non spiral bound) is just a bit larger then the tab ... and about as thick (for the 100 page one, if you can find the 120+ page ones it would be better) ...
cut out a pocket on the inside in place of the pages for the tab to sit ... and pick up one of the little leather binders that normally carry the note books and there you go ...
old styled look, common and cheap look but still semi professional ... all with the tab hidden within it.
Started on the book type case but messed up the spine, so I'm starting over on that one, but I was able to finish a different one last night.

Materials:
1 old Starbucks planner leather folio
1 plastic back cover for SGT
2 strips of Velcro tape
1 tube of superglue
Instructions:
I removed everything from inside the planner. Then, I attached the strips of Velcro on the inside. The matching strips go onto the back of the plastic case. I used superglue to hold things together, but you can sew it onto the leather if you want. Be careful not to get any superglue on the SGT, let things dry properly before placing the phone.
Hope you guys like it, I'm loving it so far coz the leather cover can be folded to the back like a regular paperback book!
Will do the book case this weekend.

Here is the album of more photos of the case....
https://plus.google.com/photos/1042...ms/5777724988825050929?authkey=CIzz9oGX49azaA
What we have here today is what I got today in the mail. A multi angle leather folio by Anker. See amazon link above for their details. It is $9usd PLUS shipping, depending on where you are. If you are on prime, then more power to ya. LOL
Anyway into the case...
I have to preface, I do not normally buy cases like this for a 7 inch tablet. I was given this to review and just giving it my fair shake....
This case is a good case for $9usd. At this price point you cannot really expect quality like Marware, so please keep that in mind. However, IMO, the fair price for this type of case, I would put it in the $20 range.
Leather...is this leather? Seems like it, but it is very thinly bound to the card stock cover. The stitching is ok, because of the quality of leather, I didn't expect a lot. As for added bulk...it does add as much bulk as my Treegloo case though. But the only thing this case has going for it is the multi-angle viewing ability.
This is done by a snap button found on kids winter coats. Meaning it's a bit bulky, but it does the rotating without a large rotating mechanism. The only negative about this is that the button kind of protrudes out to the backing, in which you can see here.
Now getting this to landscape mode is self explanatory, but using this to read portrait needed a little fiddling. In using the case in portrait, you have to swivel the case and then only the middle and outer groove can be used. If you use the back end groove, the tablet is guaranteed to fall on itself. You can kinda use the outer edge groove, however. And you can use this in portrait AND charge at the same time. Win!
And another thing about this case that I liked is that the case can come apart. Being the rotating mechanism is a button, you can undo it and carry it like a normal case without a front cover, which is nice IMO. A good alternative if you ask me.
Bottom line, would I recommend this case? Well if you are looking for a simple case for under 20 bux, yes. The advantage of multi angle viewing and taking the case apart, makes this worth getting for a backup case.
I guess having a Treegloo as my first case may have spoiled me LOL.
Any questions? Lay 'em on me.
wow, fantastic review.
i just recieved it today, great.
A good alternative I also think.
Just received mine today via USPS.

Compact
Not a whole bunch more added bulk
Inexpensive
Customer service was a pleasure to work with
Closes with a elastic strap. very journal-esque.
Multiple viewing angles not only in Landscape, but Portrait as well. Very few cases offer this.
Dislikes
Snap/Button built into the rear of the cover treats you to a very un-even form factor.
Didn't like the extra hump made visible by the button
Not very supple. Feels very hard, and edgy.
Sleep/Wake feature did not work consistently. It only worked maybe 2 out of 7 tries.
Decent pick overall, for the money, it provides a great set of viewing angle options.

Won't recommend. Its pretty inferior quality. I ripped mine open just to see what was on the inside. Its literally cheap leather wrapped around a cardboard that's as thin as a cereal box. Very flimsy. And the magnet isn't even located in the correct spot (for sleep/wake)

OB P970 Protective Case Review 2: Fishbone Cover by MyBat

Fishbone Cover from MyBat:
----------
Available from Amazon.com (search words: fishbone phone protector marquee)
Price: About $6 US ($3 + $3 Shipping)
Materials: Black silicone cover with hard plastic wrap-around insert. Insert comes in multiple colors/graphics.
Pros:
Compact
Secure around phone
Great fit
Multiple colors/graphics options
Rounded-edges design for easy carry
Price
Cons:
None
This cover, while marketed as an LG LS855 (Marquee) case, fits the Optimus Black/P970 perfectly.
The Fishbone cover, although my second LG P970 case/cover, was my first foray into cases for Android phones. It served me well on a Samsung Galaxy Precedent. My young daughter's borrowing the phone (dumb idea) for photos resulted in it being launched across a room; the phone quickly came to a stop that I heard from an adjacent room. Upon inspection, the only damage to the phone was to the case; one of the hard plastic fingers/tabs broke off. The case, while damaged, was still functional. It was well-worth the $6 investment, and I felt no anger about spending $6 for a new cover.
The well-finished cover consists of two parts: a black silicone case that slides over the back and sides of the phone and a hard plastic "backbone" that wraps around and fits into molded recesses in the silicone. This hard plastic piece has fingers extending from a central section; the overall appearance of the piece looks like a spine with a ribcage. The cover can be purchased in a multitude of colors and patterns. When assembled on the phone and laid on its back, the case lays flat and evenly on a level surface.
There are lightly-raised projections on the silicone cover over the power, "G", volume-up, and volume-down buttons. These projections are readily found during operation, yet are fairly low in profile; the projections don't snag in a holster nor inadvertently get activated. There are the standard opening in the cover for the camera, speaker, charger, microphones, and headphones. Some cases have port covers on the openings; this case has none. I never missed not having port covers.
The silicone portion has a thick, raised-ridge around the face of the phone. This ridge helps protect the glass face from scratches when holstering and laying face-down on a surface. Despite a mild bevel on the interior of this ridge, it will occasionally get in the way of the outermost keys in portrait view. I will stress that this is a very minor gripe, and the ridge is flexible enough to lightly slide it out of the way with a finger tip. Maybe it's just my fat fingers.
This cover has been my primary phone cover for nine months and has been pulled out of and put in a leather case many times on a daily basis. The cover fits the case well and the plastic backbone locks everything in place. The back of the case has a rounded contour matching the P970; it feels comfortable in the hand.
I consider the cover's thickness a good balance between protection and carry. For example, the iPhone Otterbox option takes a slim, elegant phone design and makes it boxy and incredibly thick; for the Otterbox, a holster is a must. The Fishbone cover will fit in pockets and the largest holsters. At $6, this is a great value and purchase for any Optimus Black user.
Rating: 5/5 – A solid, durable, and inexpensive phone cover that protects the P970 well.

[REVIEW] Galaxy Note 2 wallet case from Spigen

Hello Android fans,
Today, I decided to make a personal review on a wallet style case I really like for use on my Galaxy Note 2.
I'll start by first saying, I have tried several cases, and this was the first time I'd ever actually used a wallet-style case before. But big phones demand alternative measures to hip-holsters that I'm used to.
So, the case I can recommend to people today is from Spigen. The Spigen Valentinus, and here's why:
This case is very smooth, using a thin layer of leather on the outside, filled with padding on the inside and provides great impact support and protection for the phone all around. It also holds up to 4 cards, not the usual 1 to 3 most other wallet cases tended to have. It uses a button snap to keep it closed, so if it does drop, it won't open very easily nor cause interference with a magnet snap.
The inner case that holds the phone is a polycarbon plastic holder which snugs the phone very well. I have yet to see it ever come out without manually removing it, and it does protect all the corners, and exposes a majority of the top and bottom edge of the phone.
The case does of course add some thickness to the phone, but it's smooth, you can comfortably hold it, and wrap the front cover to the back allowing you to use it in your hand, dock it in an iBolt xProDock car dock, and slip it easily into your pocket, and take it out without any issue. The card slots, there's 4 of them, and they are smooth enough to allow you to easily slide out your cards to use them for purchases and such.
The pros:
It's good quality, smooth leather covered over impact padding to give great protection.
Holds 4 cards and has another inside pocket to put even more stuff in, like notes, receipts, etc..
Has a button style snap to keep it closed.
Has a strong polycarbon phone holder inner case.
Exposes, comfortably, the power button, volume rocker, microSD, microphones and earphone jack.
The cons:
When fully filled with plastic credit cards, it presses a bit tightly to the screen. A thermoplastic urethane (like Zagg's invisibleShield) will get indentions from the front cover!
And there you have it.
Hope this helps people,
Psi-Jack

This is a great case. No magnets is a huge boon as they throw both the s-pen and the compass out of whack. I don't why almost every other manufacturer insists on using them, I couldn't find any that were magnet free in local stores. Finally got my hands on a Spigen Illuzion this morning which is basically the same case but synthetic and I'm very pleased with it.

Well you either have no closure, snap closure, magnet closure, or hook and loop closure. By far the sexiest is magnets, but I prefer the snap closure if it's minimal. I don't think I could go with not closure.

I was in a toss up between the Illuzion and the Valentinus, but I went with the Valentinus mainly because of the leather, despite it still being cardboard filled as all consumer "genuine leather" goes. I almost considered making my own, personally, until I saw this.
But, yeah, you are correct. The magnets interfere with a few things, not just the S-Pen, but I believe also the magnetometer in the phone (which Is probably how they got the S-Pen detection to actually work in the first place!)
I checked so many local stores and could never find what I wanted, they were either too cheap and crappy built, or just magnetic. Sure, magnet /looks/ nice, but it won't stay closed on a drop, unless it's a super heavy-duty magnet that you know will just ruin every chance of actually using the phone. hehe

TechMatte Multi-Angle Mini Aluminum Stand

http://www.amazon.com/TechMatte-Mul...id=1389113486&sr=8-1&keywords=techmatte+stand
TechMatte Multi-Angle Mini Aluminum Stand
Manufacturer Description:
Sleek and stylish two-tone colors beautifully compliment all devices, especially the iPad and iPhone models
Durable aluminum structure can hold loads up to 11 pounds
One-touch button and 270 degrees of rotation allow for quick and endless adjustments to the viewing angle
Non-slip, firm grip tabs and liners protect your device and keep it in place while in use
Included Drawstring Travel Tote/Bag is great for storage and keeps the Mini Stand safe from scratches and everyday wear and tear
I know there are some people out there that like to keep their gadgets "naked" or have a slim non-folio case. So a good durable stand is something that would be needed. There are many stands out there and I've trade quite a few of them but this is one of my favorites so far.
Build Quality
First its most made out of aluminum with plastic and rubber. It has a nice matte metal finish to it. It not some cheap thin easily bendable stand. It feels rock solid, has a good weight to it and won't bend under any normal circumstance.
The back "foot" that the stand leans on is made out of plastic. It doesn't raise much concern as its a thick piece of plastic that seems to hold its own.
As you can see there are rubber feet to stop the stand from sliding around when doing hand gestures on the tablet. Also, there are rubber cushions on the front ( where the tablet would lean against) and in the "cup" where the tablet would sit in. It's nice to know that there are cushions and measures taken to prevent unwanted scratches from the stand to the tablet.

The stand is roughly the size of a wallet when folded up. Here is a picture for size comparison between it, my wallet and my nexus 5.
Functionality
Its small enough to carry around in a bag and light enough where you wouldnt notice it. Also, I know some of us have more than one tablet and one of those tablets might be a ipad. The cup has a u cutout so the user could have easier access to the home button on the front of an ipad.
At the sides, there is a round button that can be pressed to set the angle of the stand. Only the left circle is a button while the circle on the right side isn't.
Here are some shots of the angles that can be used for the stand.
Conclusion
For the price, its a great choice for the people that like to keep their devices "naked".

Excellent review. I love the lightness of the device. I also appreciate the 270 degrees of rotation which really helps the viewing angle. The Travel bag is a nice touch.
