Hello,
Could someone please post the default Fascinate memo.apk so I can reinstall memo on my phone?
Thank you.
Here yah go
Push this file to /system/app/ through root explorer or adb.
Just a suggestion, anytime you need to find an app that is included in a rom your able to pull it out. This file could have been pulled from the latest ED01 zip. Open the zip file and go into system/app and extract the app you want. Install by placing app onto sd card then move into system/app using root explorer. You have to make sure permissions are set right - All read boxes checked and top write box check. Then reboot phone
Thank you both so much.
I did not know about pulling apps from a ROM.
I appreciate the help from both of you.

Somehow this hasn't worked for me on a MIUI ROM. I'm fairly experienced with flashing ROMs etc. installing regular and system apks but I've not gotten the memo.apk to "install" on any of the MIUI ROMs. I've done the usual dance of fixing permissions and file ownership etc. after I drop it into /system/app. I probably should be posting this in a MIUI forum/thread but thought you guys might be able to help. Thanks in advance.

This is a Samsung apk, so it relies on the touchwiz framework which miui does not have.

Thanks. Is there a way to export/retrieve the notes from the app? I have a backup [titanium backup]. Restoring it has worked well on most ROMs for me so was wondering if I could go back to a different (touchwiz) ROM and restore the data and somehow export it as a txt file or something. Or is there a way of pulling out the data from titanium backup database?

I tried to install this app on an SGS+ i9001.
i9001 already has an Memo app, but is different, it doesn't have sync.
When installing, it said "not installed" and offcourse, it didn't worked.
I guess you need root on the phone.
I tried it on a Samsung Galaxy S ICS 4.1.1, and on a Motorola Defy CM 7.1, but not working, I can't found the Memo icon in the programs menu. What is the problem? Any idea?
This particular apk will only work with Touchwiz. ColorNote from Google Play is a reasonable substitute. There are several other alternatives, as well.

Saving memos
The memos you wrote are saved as a .db file in the dbdata section of root. Not entirely that useful, but it can at least be converted in the long run into xml using delimited functions. I tried altering the androidmanifest for the apk to see if I could get it installed on the latest notta paranoid android ROM but I can't seem to get it to work,; constant parsing error. I did transfer my needed memos to xml spreadsheet but I still do like the app in general over other types. Very simple app that does what it needs to do, nothing more and nothing less. If anyone has a working version that can work on other roms.
retrieving memos contents
lost my ace s5830i after nanrdoid backup 2 days before. i took data.rfs.tar file and extract it using winrar. then i use sqlite browser to view data\data\com.sec.android.app.memo\databases\Memo.db. the memos' contents are all intact in memo_content table
It worked

I previously backed up my memo on my Samsung galaxy Y using titanium backup but when I tried to restore apk plus data on my HTC phone it didn't work. After I install this memo, then restore data only using titanium backup, I recovered all my notes. Yea!

Download Estrongs File Manager(free app) from the market and go into options menu,go to "root options" and check "Root Explorer" select Cyanogen when prompted then check "Mount File System" option.
After you do this you will be able to copy apk files to /system/app folder using ES File Manager-thats if your phone is rooted.

So happy you posted this thread! I'm looking into getting the notification bar working. Right now if anyone needs they can use SMS Notifications and Email Notifications to notify you. They are both free in the market and are customizable popups! You can set the popup background color and transparency! Hopefully this launchers notification bar will be working soon because the interactive bar and popups are real wicked!

Man,I dint use this launcher for about a month because it really slowed down my AOSP Magic rom with Fluff kernel, thats why I dint post themed version earlier. But I read that other people dint have the same "slow down" problem so I decided to give it another try on my Syndicate rom with Extreme kernel(not overclocked) and now this launcher flies.I don't know what made it slow before rom or kernel, but now this thing is fast with no lag.
If you gonna do work on this launcher, look in to this:It installs files(i forgot in what directory) but even after deleting these files and removing Breeze Launcher and NemoPlayer and clearing dalvic cache-after rebooting the phone these files are still there!I think they even come back after system restore,to make it short I think I had to Odin back to make them disappear,it just don't seam right, maybe acer spyware idk.
Ok, so the Estrongs File Explorer kept failing to mount my info or whatever so I wasn't able to use it, but I did get another root explorer and was able to get the apk's moved where they need to be. Problem is...nemo player installed and running perfect, Acer Launcher will not install for anything. Is there anything else I need to do or can try? I'm running ViperRom TRiNiTy 2.8.

What do you mean by install? You don't install the launcher like a regular third party app. You have to push it to /system/app and thats it! If you have root explorer then just copy and paste it in your /system/app folder.

2. using root-explorer goto data/app and delete com.android.vending
3. using root explorer again goto data/data and delete the folder with the same name as the apk in data/app (thanks decelax for reminding me)
4. wipe cache & dalvik
5. reboot into recovery and flash this http://www.multiupload.com/DNB521IQ6N

Ya, i'm actually still using the black and white version 2.2.6 that I extracted from your theme.....it works great, it just doesn't like this one for some reason.
I even tried putting the apk into system.app directly after deleting old version, rebooted and said it could not install......who knows.....
I went through and uninstalled the vending.apk (I actually had two of them, one was Vending.apk and the other was vending.apk). Went into data/app and didn't see a com.android.market anything...tried to flash the zip in recovery and no market at all now...

The one in data/app is com.android.something I don't remember. By looking at it you should be able to tel its the market. It also ends in a 1 do look for something like com.android.xxxxx-1.apk.

one part you should maybe add to the OP is (also do post above), if your market version auto updated, you might need to do this:
After you delete the com.android.vending.apk (or similar name..) in your data/app folder, you should also go in to your data/data folder and delete the folder with the same name as the apk.

ahh. DO NOT delete the market updater folder or apk.
I think that's all you need deleted before you flash. But let mystery confirm it.
I might also double check that the "V" in your existing Vending.apk is capitalized. I've heard of that causing problems if it's lowercase.
FROYO ONLY
FROYO ONLY
FROYO ONLY
Hi folks,
With the recent port of WP7 to HD2 (credit to Cotulla, DFT, and other cooks), I know alot of HD2 users have tried it. I myself used it for about a couple of weeks, but I found that although it is great, it still was missing a couple of key features compared to android.
When I switched back, one of the thing that made me really regret was the keyboard.
After searching on XDA, I found this thread and figured it would easily work for us NAND users running Android.
It is a metamorph theme, but when I applied it, it didn't look right. The user who created the theme JAguirre1231 suggested that it didn't work correctly because the theme is suppose to be for the stock keyboard. This was a problem because I know alot of people prefer other CM, Sense or MIUI roms.
After doing some experimenting, I finally got it to work on the MIUI rom I'm using. The only thing is that this themed keyboard replaces the default and makes it the default. I'm not sure if you can add it, and keep the Sense keyboard or not.
*I DON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PROBLEMS THAT MIGHT HAPPEN TO YOUR PHONE, DOING THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK* *ALSO REQUIRES ROOT*
NOTE: DON'T TRY TO INSTALL THE .APK DIRECTLY, IT HAS TO GO INTO THE SYSTEM OF YOUR PHONE
EDIT: FROYO ONLY(?)
Like I said, I have only tried this on the MIUI rom and I would advise you do backup or take precautions because this process involves editing the system files inside your phone.
Directions
----------------------------------------------------------------
1) You need Root Explorer (available in the marketplace) and the attached file

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2) After you have Root Explorer, put the attached "LATINIME.apk" file on your sd card
3) Boot up your phone and open Root Explorer
4) Make sure the file is on your SD card
5) Next, navigate to /system/app/ and you should find a "LATINIME.apk" file in there too
6) Be sure you hit the top button so it says (MOUNT R/O)
7) Just to be safe, rename it to something else, and copy and paste it into your sd card (if anything goes wrong, just replace it with this file back to /system/app)
8) Delete the "LATINIME.apk" in /system/app and next copy and paste the attached one into /system/app
9) Exit and your new keyboard should be like the ones shown below
10) DONE!
Note that this is merely a skin for the keyboard, and all the other android settings are still the same. I also found it isn't as accurate as the real thing, but still better than the stock froyo.
This tutorial was made with the permission of JAguirre1231 and I just thought it would be easier if I share it.
Now I have no android keyboard. Crap.

Can you tell me which rom you are using?
And did you put the LATINIME.API into /system/app? If you don't have root explorer you can try ADB? Or if your rom already has the default froyo keyboard, just use metamorph skin from post #1.

Hm, I'm not sure if this works on gingerbread. I think it only works on the standard froyo keyboard.
If you want to take another stab, trying using the stock .apk from here, and if it works, just use metamorph to theme the keyboard.
Then again its up to you.
tried adb to phone but keep getting force close issue.

I installed it but it's a zip not an apk. I've found it to be hit & miss as to whether you can side-install zips. Some work, some don't. Copy it into /data/apps - might need a reboot.

It doesn't show up in that app, probably because it's a zip not an apk.
Looks like you're stuck with rooting and using Market Enabler. Any reason you don't want to do that? You could unroot immediately after.
Because i just need the .apk and that so easy to have it with application
So if you can give me the .APK it will be okay and i will not need to root / unroot my phone

It isn't an apk, so it doesn't matter what app I use. I did try the app, just so I can say "yes, I tried it", despite knowing it would not work. Even renaming the zip to an apk file doesn't work, which is another hit-and-miss method to get zip files to install.
If you really don't want to root your phone then you may need to forget about having this app.
Stupid question: Can't you just change the exstension to .apk? Wouldn't that work?

Even renaming the zip to an apk file doesn't work, which is another hit-and-miss method to get zip files to install.

All that application does is copy the apk file from /data/apps or /system/apps. If there is no apk file then it won't work. I've come across a few apps that when installed from google play are installed as zip files, but you can't install them on any other device. Rooting or forgetting about it are your two options.
There might well be a second problem anyway. Even if you do, somehow, manage to get the .apk file in original format and install it on your device, you may well find that Barclays block your access based on location. If that is the case then rooting would be your only option anyway.
I don't understand - you've been a member on this site for 4 years, this is the first time you have felt the need to post anything and you are too scared to root your phone! Why are you on a phone developers site?

Rooting wouldn't help much anyway. Barclays apps don't work with root. Even recognises your rooted if you use a temp unroot.

So you root, install the app without running it and then unroot.

This file is only for de-oxed rom.
I asked Riyal now.
You have to restore a backup for your gallery, sorry.

No. not before i did this. i did before I rooted it though.. thanks for adding that its for a specific rom after the fact.
Is there any way to fully remove the Facebook Pictures (Friends) Frame that remains after flashing this Mod?
I know the Dev said he left it so it is still usable if you want the FB pics to show but I never want my FB pics visible in my Gallery? I would love to be able to remove entire Facebook integration entirely.

Just remove the odex file in system partition... in adb you could do this...
adb shell
rm /system/app/HtcAlbum.odex
then reboot your phone. Gallery app should show up after doing this.
Why not change it to album view and hide facebook. Unless your talking about the main screen in gallery

Just making sure you're aware most if not all modifications of system apps require that your current rom be de-odexed.... don't blame the nice gentleman that posted the mod here as this is common knowledge for those who root.
So I just went into root explorer moved the original APK from system/app installed new APK to system/app and cleared cache and it worked

After every boot, HTCAlbum.odex reappears. I've used both ADB, and es file explorer to delete. Any suggestions?
is it not the same thing as hiding the facebook album in the album settings?
sense already has this feature built in

I'm not sure. My album isn't working right now, so I'm just going to install the deodex stock rom.
