froyo keyboard for gingerbread rom - G Tablet Themes and Apps

I'm running a gingerbread based rom (bittrix gingerbread beta 6/CyanogenMod) as I've found it to be the best fit for how I use my g. The only real complaint I have is the keyboard. I've read through a lot of the best/favorite app threads on here and tried various keyboards available through the market (thumb, swift, smart, go, a couple of others), but with no luck.
So I'm trying to find a way to revert back to the froyo keyboard. Is that possible?

I'm also looking for that, and the tapntap keyboard as well.
Running Vegan Tab 7.0 Gingeredition
Thanks in advance.
**EDIT** Found Tap N Tap Here it is for those who want it.
(Install zip from recovery)
(FYI, getting a bunch of FC) Cleared data and cache to no avail.

[Q] Two quick question

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy Tab second Hand from CEX. In general it's fine but I have an issue installing some apk's from the internal storage. Skies of Glory for example starts to install then fails with the legend 'Application not Installed' It works on my HTC desire. Same with a fair few other apps and games. I tried unmounting the SD but still no joy.
Also, the device is rooted and has a MoDaCo rom installed - does anyone know where I can get a stock European Rom so I can start over. or any suggestions as to a good custom Rom.
Thanks in advance
Rog
Overcome is popular. Am using version 1.2.1 with kernel v1. Everything is working great.
I find .apks don install when there is a conflict. Poossibly an older version of the prog or game is there. Or just this version of the app/game doesnt like the tab. I usually try to remove the conflict or just try a diff apk.

Thanks for the reply Utrx,
Just installed Overcome so will give it a look over.

[Q] Galaxy S video editing force closes

Hi guys,
I just installed the video editor from Samsung Apps, Im running the sweet honey rom (JVB 2.3.3)
For some reason the app keeps force closing on me and I get the following error.
Anyone know what might be the issue? Have wiped Dalvik and Cache but made no difference.
Thanks
Not sure if this is a general issue or a rom specific issue so posted here.
I can answer both:
The program has all sorts of bugs and is only working properly on the galaxy tab.
I've tried it on froyo stock doc deodexed, Jvk, doc jvk deodrxed, and finally simply honey rc3 same rom as you. Never worked for me
Is there any decent alternative on the android market?
There was a time when i could only find vidéo editor for...vidéo editing. It seem other software has come out now.
Worked fine for me on froyo but never since 2.3
(FC) and i'ts sure we're not the only ones. Not so amazing that certain apps ain't yet working well on ginger.
Hi can you please tell me what other software has come out for it?
Thanks
Never tried other ones yet but i've seen much more apps than before the last time i've checked the market a few weeks ago.Sorry.
Edit:Vidtrim for example.
Ps: personally,i love clayframes for doing stop-motion video.

[Q] Anyone tried the TouchwizGTG APP on ROM Continuum 5.5?

TouchwizGTG APP Thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822523
Anyone tried to install this on top of ROM Continuum 5.5?
Actually, we were all waiting on you to do it and report back to us in this here thread you started.
I do not have Root Explorer so I was using DriodExplorer while in CWM3 boot mode by enabling/disabling the directories. DroidExplorer unfortunately crashes when attempting to install or uninstall any applications to the phone.
Manually copying the files as recommended in the Touchwiz thread proved fruitless, as I could not get TW3 to load properly. Would crash shortly after selecting it.
It was getting late so I reverted back to the original Touchwiz file and went to bed.
I'm having absolutely no issues with this version of TW on Continuum 5.5. The only caveat is that there's no landscape mode, but I find that may even be preferable. Everything else is functional, with no lag or processor "burns".
I apologize to whoever created it - I can't remember which thread I picked it up from. But it seems to be perfectly functional on my captivate.

That's TW4, I think they want TW3 with GTG fixes
I found this in the i9000 forums. I have it on my phone and it works great.

Google Maps for donut disappeared?

Hi, I just wiped my g1 with superd (1.6) , i went to reinstall google maps and... it is disappeared from the market?
Is no more compatible with donut?
Latest Google Maps requires Android 2.1+.
Also, most if not all of the apps required android 2.x as far as I can remembered.
Yes, i noticed
There is a working apk for donut somewhere?
I remember 5.4 worked
I wonder why they don't use the multiple apk option for their apps, leaving people behind, the stock maps app does not work anymore, FC at launch...
you should upgrade to Gingerbread CM7 it is fast but not donut fast
but you will have MOOOOOORE Features with it
Any gingerbread rom is not stable enough yet use froyo for trout u can flash the cm contact mod and mms mod to get some features from cm its fast and stable
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using XDA App
I feel that any android > 1.6 is slow on the Dream
Anyone has the latest apk for donut?

Nice! Youre right!

I highly recommend installing ICS ROM until official ICS update

I just installed the AOKP build 35 ICS ROM and wow, everything runs so smoothly compared to the Honeycomb stock ROM. EVERYTHING. Totally worth losing all my apps and settings for 1-2 months until the official update arrives. If you use the browser a lot (and type a lot) you should really think about doing this. It's like a CPU and RAM upgrade. Like a totally new (faster) tablet.
Yes, AOKP is great, but you didn't have to lose apps and settings - you could have just used Titanium Backup, and backed up literally everything . Good thing to know if you wanna do more experimenting before official ICS.

It's tempting, but I use my tablet to have my son Skype with my in-laws, so I'm stuck waiting forever for the official ICS.

i wouldn't do that.
ics and hc are two dirrent OS versions. porting apps from one OS to another would result in quite a few FCs.
so if you ask me "losing" your apps is the correct way to go...
I don't think that's entirely true mate. If you are talking about user apps and their data, it wouldn't make any problems, as long as the apps that were on Honeycomb are compatible with ICS, and 99% of them are. Not only apps, but he could have restored their data too, such as game progress, etc, without any issues...
Think of it this way, official upgrade from Honeycomb to ICS does a similar thing, and lets you keep user apps that you had on Honeycomb. I know this is true because i did it and kept all my user apps, when i was upgrading Asus Transformer Prime, that i had for testing purposes. There were zero issues with them.
Restoring system data and settings is another thing, i wasn't suggesting it, as that would most definitely cause problems.
It's the apps and their settings (and data) that matter most for me. And for anyone I guess... So it's good to know. Thanks.

AOKP and P5 ICS roms for p7310...can I switch back and forth between these roms using cwm without wiping?
step by step
Is there a step by step guide if how I can get this ICS up and running? From where
did you download the image for the Galaxy Tab 8.9?
I don't think so.
Here's the short version:
1) install CWM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
2) wipe data, cache partition and dalvik cache (advanced menu)
3) install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648561
4) enjoy your new tablet

Brilliant, thank you so much, I will try it the next couple of days. Just wondering if there is a way to store the current original Honeycomb image, so that I can restore it in case there is some warranty issue?
Many thanks!
Yes, make a backup after you install CWM. You will have to restore this and also the stock recovery software if you're going for the warranty.
I've been trying to install ICS on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and have been unsuccessful even when changing the update-script to avoid assert errors. I'm at the point where I get a Status 0 error when trying to install aokp_p5_build-35.zip.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm a noob with Android but experienced in iPhone area. I'm using CWM 5.5.0.4 recovery.
Sorry, no. I also had a similar error (6 I think) but that was because of me editting the script in Wordpad and saving it with carriage returns. I have no idea what the errors mean or where you can find any info related to this..

The LTE 8.9er Tablet has different hardware to the 8.9er regular tablet (p7310/p7300), the custom roms from the 8.9er tablet didn't work on the LTE tablet.
The lte tablet has a quallcomm soc the regular 8.9er has a nvidia tegra 2. Look here for a ICS for your lte tablet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1575
I installed CM9 yesterday on my tab. Ihave CM9 ob my SGS+, too. Thats the reason, why i installed CM9 and not AOKP or another ROM.
What i like:
- The performance is faaar better and smoother than on Honeycomb Stockrom
- In the Image Gallery a can disable the bottom bar so the full screen is used
- Better Taskswitcher
- IMHO better Contacts-App
What i dislike
- I have to say, Samsung optimized the Apps very well for the tablets that means:
- Better music player than Apollo
- Better calendar than in Android 4
- No Polaris Office
- No Keyboardsupport for the Samsung keyboard
Ok now lets see what Samsung deiver with there own Android 4. So i can copy some apps to CM9 .
Im waiting every day to have the confirmation that ICS would be ready
and I know I would start to wait until one of our chef's cook a proper ROM
I tried the different ICS and they look the part, is fast, and there is some nice improvments everywhere, however more than the camera not working,
what is holding me in Honeycomb is touch wizz
lol
don't get me wrong, I truly hate skins, and I like very slim and lightweight roms
but the app eBook is the killer app in my tab.
Until there is a good way to port it to ICS I will hold still living in the past..
(honeycomb was launched in feb 2011 why feels that long?)
Honeycomb isn't a problem by itself. The slow hardware on the 8.9 and Touchwiz make it a problem
Short Question: I have rooted my tabled and installed CWM Recovery and a port of an Cyanogenmod 9 ROM.
What happens when the ICS ROM will be released official by Samsung. What steps will I need to get these official ROM. Can I unroot and reset my device to the normal ROM or install the new official rom by manual download and installing over CWM Recovery?
When you made a backup of the stock rom after you installed cwm and bevor you installed the CM9 rom, you only have to restore the backup an update your tablet. otherwise you have to install the stock rom via odin.
About the "Smoothness" of Honeycomb and ICS. ICS is very smooth, but not every app. Quickpic stutter, the AOSP gallery is very smooth. Google Chrome is stuttering and shows me white screen when im scrolling to fast, the ICS Browser is smooth and faster.
So i thin there is something more than tegra or honeycom the problem.
maybe it is something like the right h264 codec for video.
