Well the phone is from Europe i assume ?? if so i would just go for 2.2 froyo (JPY) or 2.1 Eclair (JPU) as upgrades have been officially released, and they wont think anything of it if you have one of them... where as a custom ROM would raise some eyebrows lol.

[Question] How to flash Original Firmware?

Hi Guys,
i get yesterday my 2X, im very happy for this device, i come from a galaxy s and i feel reborn!!!!!!
This is my question:
someone know how to flash the original firmware??
We know here http://www.optimus2x.net/index.php?topic=393.0 we have all firmware but i cant found the procedure to flah it
I really like modding every my device, is so funny, but before do it, i wanna be safe to make it safely, and if come some problems would like can fix it flashing original firmware..
Someone can post how to flash the original firmware??
Thanks
Ps. I say sorry if i have wrong section, or procedure is just posted , but im not very clever with english language, but i try to do it, i have searched this procedure but i do not have found it..
Sorry for bad English
Again Thanks
Morning, this is not possible yet as Paul over at modaco is yet to release CWM recovery so not ROM flashing is possible. He said it would be released in Beta form.today at sometime so wait and see what that brings to the table.... in the meantime head over to the 2x section at Modaco to keep up with the progress!

Hi, thanks for reply
Its a little bit strange it, because for example in other android device, like Galaxy S, you dont need a clockwork recovery to flash the stock original firmware, you need it only for to flash a cooked... you need only to put in download mode and after you can flash a stock firmware without clockwork recovery
Anyway again thanks for reply

just got a vivid !! someone guide and help me installing a custom rom ! :)

hey guys !!
just got a vivid !
it is gsm unlocked from at&t and i'm using it in india !
as i just got it, i am a complete noob at it !
i have flashed atrix, thrill, n900, hd2 , etc so i am not a noob at flashing !
i dont want to s-off my device and want to install all the custom roms without doing it
someone pls guide me !
thanks....
Go to the HTC website and find the latest ICS RUU for AT&T and run it. Unlock your bootloader. Flash a custom recovery (I prefer the WCX one). Then install whichever kernel + ROM. You say you aren't a noob at flashing and such, so I assume you can do that without much hand-holding? If you need more info then follow the guide in my link but only do the steps I just told you above.

Did you even attempt to search or read anything before posting this? Isn't one of the things you agree to when signing up membership here to do exactly that, search and read? Good God guy...

I wouldn't even attempt it without knowing the full ins and outs of what your doing. I would read, read, reread all the issues others have had. Then learn what not to do by those people so you don't end up with a brick. After you have read, read, and reread, and understand then you can attempt it. That's what I done and have never had any issue on this phone flashing anything. Please don't jump the gun and try to do this without reading!

the device is already running ics 4.0.3 with sense 3.6 !
it was updated via the ruu from htc website !
so here's what i will do now !
1) unlock bootloader from htc-dev
2) flash wcx recovery
3) flash kernel+custom rom !
am i missing anything ?
and no need for s-off right ?
my hboot shows
*** LOCKED ***
HOLIDAY PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.85.0025
MICROP-0360
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.226.00.0202
eMMC-boot

am i good to go ?
That's how I did it...but without posting questions...I'm no expert but I read, searched and reread when migrating from icrap...didn't want to ask questions which have already been answered in other posts...that is what irritates devs...I don't think people mind questions...but at least do your homework first..

Night I recommend looking into the kernel flasher GUI mentioned in the superguide... It's how I flash kernels since I don't do hardware mods...

ok thanks to all the folks who helped me !
i have successfully unlocked bootloader, installed wcx recovery and rooted the phone !
can i flash faux dual core kernel with at&t stock ics firmware, i heard the kernel is very power efficient !
also i saw some roms have written ""s-off only"" so as my device is s-on i can't install them right !!
i know they are too many questions , but i just need to be very sure and safe before doing anything !
thanks...

You can flash faux123's if you would like. I use the kernel myself and can say that it's the quickest, most stable, and most battery friendly kernel I've used so far. You could flash those S-off ROM's as well, you would just need to extract the boot.img from the rom .zip and flash it through fastboot.

Use THIS to root. Make sure you are on ICS though so you have the updated HBOOT
If you want a stock Htc sense 3.6 (The one that is offical for our device) I would recommend Wild Childs WCXbuilds.. You can google WCXxperia for his site.
If you are looking for a newer Htc sense I would recommend Homeslices "BoRKeD" Htc sense 4.1 build
Hopefully that can help ya out.

Question on Flashing my Galaxy Mini

im NEWBIE when it comes to flashing,
im planning to flash my phone atleast to a ICS or better rom but....
they said if you flash your galaxy phone there is a chance to brick it... is it also, ALL custom rom out in the net also here in XDA
can do this to my phone?.. how will i know if it is comes from good source?...
i have lot of question bout flashing my mini, like what is the first step i need to do, 2nd? and so on!
can i bring it back to the stock rom if the custom rom i picked have lots of bugs?
what is porting?
BTW MY PHONE IS ROOTED since last night
please enlighten me!!!
comments are much appreciated
you need a lot of reading, please read every sticky of the mini forum
you can take your phone back to stock by flashing firmware through Odin (PC software)
first you will need to be on gingerbread because every rom here is maid for gb
second read about cwm recovery, recovery is what you will need to flash custom rom
follow every procedure correctly and no brick will be in your path
i think im using gingerbread, ill provide SS..
so i need to DL ODIN in my PC(stock purposes?)
if i follow the step by step procedure 100%? no brick will happen?
is there any link for CWM RECOVERY?
google for flashing firmware to mini and you will get Odin
read about flashing cwm, now also Odin will be used and do jot use rom manager your mobile may brick
for 2-3 days do only reading then do what you want to
damn im fxckng scared to flash my phone even though i read tuts bout flashing
nothing to scare for when we are here just clarify all your doubts before doing anything

First you will have to flash CWM
Follow the steps in the link given below:
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/09/installing-clock-work-mod-recovery-in.html#.UDIx1KniaM9
Then you have to install a custom ROM of your choice(according to your specifications)
I suggest Andro-id 3.2
Follow the link below to flash Andro-id 3.2:
http://roms4mini.blogspot.in/2012/05/andro-id-v-32.html
And that's it!

There's stuff on this forum regarding the 64 bit system and the simple reason to why there's not a whole lot of development going on for it is because us devs can't work on something we can't see and don't have! Most of the devs are in the USA and we mostly have the 32 bit phone and that's why there's a lot more development going on for it...
Maybe this can help you out and at least get you rooted and going in the right direction...

This is for your recovery for 64 bit

About the lollipop rom? Can't help you there since no such rom exists.

Well you could still benefit from rooting it you know... You could get rid of the boost bloatware and do lots of other thing's. If you like eye candy you can use the Xposed module and there's tons of stuff for that!
There is someone working on a CM rom for the 64 bit phone to so being rooted and ready when that comes out would make it easier.
