Hi all
Have had a good look around but can't find anything concrete!
Is it possible to restore a nandroid backup from on SGS I9000 uk model 8gb on Vodafone to another uk Vodafone sgs?
I never made a back up of the original and wondered if if could be done this way!?
Thanks!!

I think nandroid uses the Serial Number of the phone, so maybe you couldn't do that.
You can try and report if it works .
Maybe you can open backup and change serial number .

Ok cheers will give it a try over the weekend! How would you change serial no in backup?

Open backup and edit the serial in notepad if its in a format that notepad can read .
If you can open the backup .

I have made a lot of ROM upgrades on my SGS GT-I9000. my question is that how to restore or recover my old call logs? Thanks,
You can't. They are deleted by most flash procedures as well as resets

That is very bad if there is no way to do that
Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
That's why I always backup my call logs using Call Logs Backup & Restore (Ritesh Sahu) before flashing any new ROM.
I have a g note with almost 2 years warranty. I want to root and change the ROM.
My question is how to backup important files and details such as csc files, that file containing imei number just in case if I had to return it to Samsung in state like it is right now.

You don't have to backup anything (rooting don't wipe) but if you still want to backup apps then use any app backup application from Google play and the folder you are talking about is efs folder, you can't backup efs without root.
First root and then backup downloaded apps and data using Titanium backup and , you can backup efs by using some efs backup tool. Check dr,ketan's toolbox in first link in my sig.
Thanks a lot mate. And what about my csc code? I should write it down or save it some how?

You can save the csc folder from system to SD using root explorer after root or check this for more info.
I have a galaxy tab gtp1000 running g aokp Sgt job(gsm). After inserting the sim,the tab doesn't shoe any bars, but I have tested the sim on other mobiles and it works just fine.In the status section of settings it shies my carriers name and it shies mobile network disconnected.this problem even existed on cm10.The imei is also wrong ,it shows 00499... which is wrong.
Please help me get network connectivity back!!
I have pm you before, right?
Go to /sdcard /backup
Find the oldest one I think is safest.
Replace the entire /efs with the one from backup.
The latest might be already bad.

I had same problem too,
but i can't fix it
in /sdcard/backup i have 2 subfolder, they are "efs" and "efs-189"
what i must have to do?
sorry my bad english
They are just two different backups.
Use the older of the two. I have more than a dozen.
If you can't tell, try one after another.
If all fail, restock. And if stock good, try a rooted custom Rom like overcome. Then backup the /efs manually.

I searched around google, and I didn't find a concrete answer to this matter. It sux for me with hifen words which i save alot fo them to restore everytime I want to change ROM.
Any1 knows a answer? Where's the file? anyway to backup the words?
bump
You could just do a complete nandroid backup before you switch to the other Rom, I guess you will get the words back when you restore

How I do that? with CWM backup? But restoring it won't restore a full ROM ?
The personal dictionary is stored in /data/data/com.android.providers.userdictionary/databases/user_dict.db database. You can backup that. Or you can use the latest swype beta which gives the option of doing backup of your dictionary in your online account, so that switching between ROMs is not a hassle
Anyone can help me to restore my IMEI and GSM working ?
Probably during error in flashing I've lost /efs data.
I have nothing there. Please help me....

hicz.. So do I, never know that we have to backup imei first before doing anything to our tab :crying:
Restocking usually restore efs and IMEI

Thx for your reply, but unfortunately I've tried restocking using Overcome from the link at your signature.
But it doesn't help, IMEI is still 0044XX
what was the first thing you did that broke the IMEI?
If it was broken after installing CM9/10, then your sdcard will have a backup folder with efs folder and efs-xxx folders.

I don't know anymore, I flash a few ROMs and only then do I notice the GPS not working and IMEI is now 0044XXX.
I've restock a few times with overcome and re-partition, therefore all backup are already lost.
I found some in external SD as well.
and those aren't wiped by any repartitioning or ROM install.

Ooh, where do you find the file ? In backup folder ? I don't have backup folder at the external sd
Yes. Backup folder.
Sorry. That means you dont have a backup.
