Quick question :) - HTC Incredible S

Is everything about the incredible 2 in this forum? Is this a joint forum basically lol? And if not where can I find inc 2 forum? Thank you!
Sent from my Incredible using Tapatalk

This is actually the Incredible S forum..........no forum for the Incredible 2 yet...
I'm starting to see a few people pop up in here with the Incredible 2 on Verizon. They should make a separate forum but until then hang out with the Incredible S users.

Ok is the inc 2 going to get all the updates the inc s gets? Cause inc s is supposed to get android 4.0 our something and I want that for my inc 2 lol, if I'm going to buy one lol

Incredible S will get gingerbread 2.3.x 2nd quater of this year. Incredible 2 shouldn't be to far behind there after. Verizon has been prertty good with updates on Htc Android phones.

[DEV] Oh hey, Galaxy Nexus full System dump (Ice Cream Sandwich)

Hey guys,
Thanks to Paul O'Brien over at MoDaCo we now have a full system+recovery dump of the Galaxy Nexus running Ice Cream Sandwich.
http://android.modaco.com/page/news/_/android/04-nov-icl23d-galaxy-nexus-boot-recovery-r51
This is really cool.
Wow, hopefully now developers can create ICS inspired custom roms. Cheers!
there's like 10 of these over at the dhd section lol
No ... This is a system dump from the phone ... Not an SDK dump ... This good ...

Where did you hear this?
These are the files you need to port a device. They need to be altered severely to run on the incs. Extreme development knowledge is needed to make use of this. However a developer could grab bits and pieces from it if they have greater knowledge in one area than another.
The ics update will be coming to this and many other htc devices as stated yesterday to myself in a bell store by an htc rep.

but it won't come anytime this year, probably end of Q1 or Q2 2012.

As usual, doesn't have incredible s inside the namelist...
incredible s is abandoned already i think lol
if it comes to sensation xl, with has almost same specs, just better cpu, it will be for sure ported to incredible s (if htc doesn't release it officially)

You guys are reading into this way too much.
All they did was give a few obvious ones that would get the upgrade. They never said the rest of their products weren't.
What developers can do with this?

Let me quote myself:
"Right now[...]"
You see? I'm talking about what they've said so far, but what'll happen in the future; sorry, I can't tell and therefore I won't do anything else then hope that HTC will give us an official update to 4.0.
But from what Google said when they showed 4.0, I think that it'll come to the IncS. Sometime.
And to your last part; no, they didn't.
"We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich."
From the same link that I linked in my previous post. So, I'm fully aware of the fact that this only seems to be a preliminary statement from HTC.

ICS and Sense 3.6 for Sensation out now

http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/08/htc-ics-sense-nordic/
Does that mean a custom rom for us soon enough?

yes.. i guess..
i am waiting for Virtuous to fix all ICS issues soon..
If I remember correctly Virtuous team was waiting for Sensation XL release.
HTC launched ICS but I tought it was only for Sensation and Sensation XE, not XL.
If so, I'll guess we have to keep on waiting :/

i guess HTC said "later this year" for Incredible S
First of all, HTC must release Drivers for the Incredible S to fully function on ICS. As soon as they release, our developers will start making their ROM. Custom ROM will be atleast 2 months before the official release. But yes, There will be some problems in the start and will get fixed soon. Till Then i can say "Wait for 6 more months if you want to taste the fully functioning Ice Cream Sandwich in your Incredible S"
And then it is the end of the year and everybody looking for Android 5.

Surely this is the price we pay for not having the latest up to date phones. This is exactly what HTC want so that we go out and upgrade to the newer models.

Yep, money talks - unfortunately.
Imho its just silly to buy completely new hardware just for a software upgrade that isnt even demanding for the current hardware.
True. But its always nice having that brand new phone feeling haha

I found devs custom rom is always superior than official HTC rom. If HTC will release official ROm i won't go for it. HTC sense doesn't matter for me. Custom roms by devs are always rocks. What you say??

Vivid Development

im posting here because im getting multiple pm's a day asking for help with sense 4.0.... heres the deal im always willing to develop for any device but with these new devices and ics its more difficult with ginger i could port a rom to anything without the device thats not the case now, so what i am saying is if someone is willing to donate a extra device i will build you guys some nice roms if not i wont be much help with your progress with ports... i had a guy named A-to-the-J say he would donate one so if you are still willing shoot me a pm and we will go from there.... thanks guys maybe in the near future you willl be seeing alot of me

How difficult would it be to port a Droid Incredible 2 Rom?

I was looking through the Droid Incredible 2 forums and they have a huge array of roms, even a dully functioing CM9 (from memory). So my question is, would it be easy to port a rom from DI2 to the IS seeing as they are extremely similar, or will it not work? Thanks guys

It's rather hard. Even an original dev of a Rom from inc 2 found it hard to port.

Only problem is those people are talking about aosp 4.2 Roms, sense 4+ 4.2 is a whole different beast -I guess if anything maybe the a working aosp 4.2 kernel will help

I don't have any skills ( obviously ) but mabye homeslice would be wiling to help out since he got sense 4.1 running
I'm not sure if there is a Jelly Bean 4.2 out with any HTC Sense yet, I thought Sense 4+ and Sense 5.0 use Jelly Bean 4.1.
Unfortunately I do not have the skills to help you out past that, unless you are looking for beta testers when the time comes around. As stated above your best bet right now would be to contact homeslice and see if he's interested in working on this. He knows the other Vivid devs pretty well and would probably be the best person to ask about getting a team together (I'd recommend PM'ing him). However the few remaining devs seem to be focused on polishing off their Sense 4.1 roms, so they may not have the time right now, but it doesn't hurt to ask around.
Good luck!
The lucky guys over in the sensation forum....just got sense 4+ with jellybean. Maybe we could find a way to port it to the vivid as that is what was done with the first venom rom to come to our device.

Yea I just saw that too. Very very hopeful that we will someday be able to receive this update. If so, I might not even get a One as my Vivid handles everything I do just fine.
Well Chris aka Y2Jerico was talking to me last night and we talked over a lot on sense 4+ and he wants to do it but he doesn't have time for making a kernel and porting but he is willing to work as hard he can to put many fixes longs as him and who ever else can get a base. The reason why is because this guy works long hours and has only has the weekends to work on it.... But I trust that he will help out a lot cuz who ever ran the honest rom has seen his work and seen how smooth, fast, and snappy his rom was.
