i just rooted my droid 1 with the superone click method. it went well, but when i tried to install the apps for rooted users, it failed. can some help me with that? please. mark
I didn't work if you cannot installed root required apps.
What version of Android are you using?

It is possibly the "Root" app is installing older script (busybox old version?) that might not function fully enough on your phone.
Better find a newer version or other method(prefer OR) to Root with newer script installed.

Hi,
i want know if it's necessary to update Busybox for OB after rooting ? And if not necessary, can i make this, and what are the news ?
Thanks
Busybox already installed by rooting, and it depends of what you need. Perhaps you are a developer to trying script or command. For me, I'm not updating busybox.

You can update it via Busybox Installer via Market. It will give you lists from newest (update) to old. So you can Update or go back to previous.
Same as updating CWM and Superuser, fixed bugs if there's any.
no need.

But if i update it, does it bricked my phone ? Or remove my root access ?

In order to root your Nexus S (from Gingerbread to ICS!) I have made a script that all you need to do is launch with your PC! (credits to saurik for the exploit)
Hope this will help you
All you need to do, is run the script! Then, plug-in your phone (needs to be on with USD ADB DEBUG ON) and done!
You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?qhefhtgs20fdtsd
This will root your phone, and then you can afterwards flash ClockworkMod from the market and then reboot into recovery =)
Peace be with you.

I'll test it later. Does this use fast boot to unlock?
And saurik? He's the king of cydia. He got the exploit?

It worked great, thanks guys
haha..rooted..thanx!!!!!!...
is there a way to make this work with a xoom?
When I try this it shows that it worked, but it doesn't seem to load properly since ROM manager says superuser not found. When I try to update the bineries it also fails on "checking current install path".. failed to find currently installed su binary.
Any ideas?
Edit: I'm running gb 2.3.6

does it work with all android phones.like xperia phone.
Thanks!
Just ordered my wife a Nexus S, will try this Friday and report back!
Nice!
Ran it and it worked. Well, ran it and then had to do a few things to prove that it had worked.
After running the script, you have to install Superuser in Google Play Store (Market). Then, I installed MyBackup Pro (paid version) which does a few more fancy things if it has root access. When I ran MyBackup Pro, it said that I have superuser access.
Sweet!
I ran this on a Nexus S i9023 running ICS 4.0.3.
It looks like root access remained after reboot. Pretty good!
COOL! Thanks for sharing! The Nexus is en route!

This is an early April Fool right? The Nexus S is completely open and doesn't need exploits to gain root. Unlock the bootloader then you can use fastboot to install a custom recovery image. Simples.
Hi there, have you made one for the MyTouch4G or do you know if one does exist for it ?
Thanks

Didn't work for me.
Ran the zip, plugged phone in. Downloaded superuser, and then Rom Manager. Rom Manager couldn't see root.
Modified version of this:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/17/how-to-root-the-samsung-nexus-s/
worked for me.
I had to transfer Rom Manager to the phone via email because I couldn't get it to download anything from the market on wifi. Flashed recovery through CW. MIUI is now on the pone.
SWEET!
got it to work to install ota 4.0.4 manually via cwm...only thing is i lost root and it seems this exploit doesnt work on ota 4.0.4 so i cant run it again...
this is cool
thanks for this man...i used it when i got 4.0.3 and worked well on my i9023...ini 4.0.4 it diddnt work...but i restore back to 4.0.3 and installed voodoo ota root keeper from the market...and i restored the the root ran with the script in this poost in one click in 4.0.4 . awsome

That requires wiping your phone, and unlocking your bootloader. Appears this works with a locked bootloader.
Hi guys,
I just went into system apps, via Solid Explorer to grab an apk to put on my dev-host, when I got an error saying that I don't have root access.
I tried accessing other files in system root to get the same error. So I downloaded Root Checker and for some reason that's also saying that I don't have root access.
I know for a fact I have though as I've just been using root only features in ROM Toolbox Pro without an issue.
Any ideas as to why it's saying I don't have root access when I clearly do?
I'm on stock 4.2.2 and used the rooting tools in mike1986.'s thread to root once I'd flashed the stock ROM.

I downloaded the deodexed version which had superuser installed by using the rooting tools.
I flashed it a few days ago and have had no issues with being rooted until now. As I say, I'm still rooted but my phone's telling me I'm not and I'm not sure why.

It already had the permissions from when I first installed solid explorer.
I just found out what my problem was. Superuser was installed by default and I downloaded SuperSU afterwards and must've disabled superuser and therefore was getting partial unroot issues.
I've now uninstalled superuser and I've got full access back

Hi, I need to downgrade from kitkat to gingerbread in order to make Barclays pingit work. I tried many things but the damn app to my disgust won't work on rooted phones. Is it just a matter of using ODIN? And which gingerbread ROM should I use? Can you please send me some links thanks! :crying:
Have you tried temporary unrooting from the superSU/Superuser options then installing the app.

Hi, thanks for the reply, when I install SuperSU it tells me I need to update binary SU by doing a manual Re-root? What does it mean?
Just flash this in recovery http://download.chainfire.eu/370/Sup...erSU-v1.80.zip download link is at bottom of page.
EDIT: here's the latest update at bottom of page http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/
Thank you, I flashed it, went to SuperSu, did the full un-root, it worked as the app disappeared but the damn Barclays app still finds the root and wont work...is there any other way around it? Or downgrading...
Found this but you need to install the 'Xposed Framework'' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577095
Thanks but I've already downgraded to stock rom, did what I had to do with Barclays Pingit and re upgraded to kitkat again...now I won't be doing this crap anymore, I will just buy a cheap 2nd hand mob, install the almighty Barclays apps and use that when needed...easy...:cyclops:
Yeah probably a better idea until the almighty Barclays app gets an update so customers can use it on rooted phone, but tbh i can't see that happening anytime soon.

You could install xposed and use root cloak. Apps that don't work if you have root are just stupid.
I need help installing xposed. When trying to install it, I pop up shows that I cannot install. Cannot extact_app. Could anyone help me? My phone is rooted and I have other applications that only work for root. I have soft rebooted but have had no success.
Apologies I am new and slowly getting use to rooting with other applications.

Check this thread. Maybe you are affected by the latest Android security patches, which broke Xposed on most devices running KitKat or below.
