Does anyone know what com.google.process.gapps is? I think, im not quite sure, but it might have started coming up randomly after I moved the caches to my sd card. It doesnt do anything when I hit force close, everything im still doing stay the same, its just annoying having it pop up periodically. Does anyone know how I can fix this without having to wipe my phone or anything? Thanks
wipes suck..
I used astro to copy all my apps to my sd so all I have to do is install each one , one at a time which is tedious but better than the market and, I have now noticed if I hadn't done that Id have to buy all the apps since I bought a second G1 in white gave my black one to my wife after a wipe, then used the same sd to re install stuff to the albino one.
But it seems to me that this point other than pinpointing the problem to 1 or 2 apps then kill them and hope it fixes the problem, not alot is known about these lil' suckers so most of the time wipe is the only option, but all your contacts mail & stuff is sync'd from the goog servers so its not as bad as rebuilding most pda/smartphones.
soon im sure things will get easier and better
bhang
Yea I think im jus going to backup my stuff with mybackup, then wipe it, cuz its really annoying
Be careful with that. I encounter problem a while back, cant remember what I did to cause it, but when I rebooted I had to sign back in to my gmail account and couldn't get a data connection with the setup wizard. I had to reflash all the way back to rc29.
I jus wiped it and and used mybackup 2 restore everything, but I encountered a problem with Download Crutch, whenever I tried to install another app after I installed Download Crutch it would ask me to choose what app to use to install the other apps, Download Crutch or Package Installer, and it would freeze at [email protected] screen and say "Android has enountered an error" or smthin, and ask to wait or force close, but it wouldnt allow me to choose, it would just freeze. So I uninstalled it and successfully reinstalled my other apps, everything is fine now, im leaving Download Crutch uninstalled
Linda File Manager has a "download crutch" built in (lets you pick what to associate files with). Download crutch seems to be just that small part of linda file manager. best file manager, imo. Astro is juuust behind it

You should have just clear data of gmail application and error would have gone.
How do you "just clear the Google data"?

hi, I've cleared the gmail apps data just as the post above suggested, but the error still comes up... now everytime I open gmail it'll force close immediately.... appreciate any help.. thanks

com.google.process.gapps
I narrowed the problem down to "google talk" on my EVO. I went into settings about 30 mins ago and i haven't had a pop up yet.
If you frequently use Gtalk, there are other messaging apps such as Palringo that syncs with gtalk. Hope this helps!
try disabling Gtalk...worked for me.
How did you disable Gtalk? I removed Gtalk and it started having this issue in gmail... the only way I fixed it was by putting Gtalk back.
wiped entire phone and reinstalled everything again... dunno why this happens but when it starts I cannot revert it.

I think I had similar problems with my Googles Apps, and a few other apps. What I did was installed Titanium backup. Backup up the apps that I was having problem. uninstalled the apps, and reinstall them from the Market. And that solved my problem.
Hi!
I was experiencing the same problem, and I couldn't install anything from Market. The problem is caused by the gtalk service. If you have it uninstalled, you can get it from a dropbox link. Here it goes: dlDOTdropboxDOTcom PERuPER15246936PERgtalkservice.apk
Of remove the spaces and the other stuff. Unfortunately the forum does not let meg paste external links since i'm a newbie here.
A guy named SAPS uploaded it. Say hallelujah It solves both problems.
Cheers
Could you please give me some more details about what i have to do with this :
dlDOTdropboxDOTcom PERuPER15246936PERgtalkservice.apk
I also have the same problem. I can't download anyting from the market. And my knowledge about computers is not too much.

You press menu from your home screen
click on setting
click on applications
click on manage applications
click on all
click on "app name"
click on clear data
Don't ask me which app, cause I am still looking for it.
On my galaxy tab from tmobile, I cleared the following: contacts, gmail.
It fixed it
But on my G2 from tmobile, i ****ed up the sync, and had to restore it.
The app that I think that cause the problem for me was the bump app.
Hey guys,
I haven't been able to find very much on this, so if you guys can help, that'd be great.
This morning, I woke up, and my phone said "low on space". I tried everything from a reboot to taking the battery out, etc. Then I went into Menu>Setting>SD and Phone storage, and something caught my eye. The "Available Phone Storage" area was losing memory as I was looking at it! It decreased from 500kb, and settled down somewhere around 28kb. And two days ago i had 30MB!!! How did this happen?

The only thing I can think of being a culprit would be an app that needs to be downloading tons of data. I know the XDA app downloads data when you view new forums... do you use that a lot?

Ok, try this. Do a fresh install of whatever ROM you're using, and don't install any extra apps. See if you start to lose space like you are right now. Then, install the apps one by one, and you'll see which app is taking up your free space.
Have you tried a wiping and restoring your ROM? That may be your only option. Strange issue to have

my wifes was doing this, i noticed the "contact storage" was almost 80mb! She has over 300 friends on FB and its set to refresh that every 2 hours. Try clicking on menu-settings-then accounts &sync... they are set at default to every2 hours. it would freeze her phone and couldn't receive texts or calls until its don't refreshing sometimes too more than an hour. not sure if this is a complete fix or not just tried it earlier today.
Its the HTC Mail app possibly. There are temp files building up. Only way to clear them is to be rooted and delete them with a file manager.

Lately I've LP has been freezing on me in a few moments after boot, basically after media scanning is done my UI is frozen and I need to bring up task manager to close out LP and exit out of task manager and it runs fine again, anyone know whats causing this?
it happens i think. i remember just installing chompsms and it's been happening since. switched to handcent and the problem's not there anymore.
maybe some application is causing it on your end?
I have the same problem! No matter what I do, Launcher Pro freezes after booting up, I have to close & re-open!
I had the same problem no matter what setup I used on my phone, even did it straight after a clean factory reset. Gave up with it in the end and am using Zeam Launcher now, very quick and responsive although I do miss the LP widgets
Found a fix, its caused by the .andriod secure folder on the EXTERNAL SD.. delete all the contents from there and mark the folder as READ ONLY and reinstall your apps that were there w/o the EXTERNAL SD card to guarantee they dont come back.
100% fixed on my end!

Ain't that the folder used by apps 2 sd? I would rather put up with fc in lp then screw with app 2 sd.

I dont even use app 2 sd in the first place.
I still have thouse hangs at bootup, sometimes goes fine, sometimes it is needed to be closed. I had this folder on my external sd, the folder is empty. Read and Write flags are off
Any other suggestion?
I have same problem... +1
it looks like its an actual error with the app itself, i have had this problem lots of times, i did a full wipe and only installed launcher pro, nothing else, the only 1 app i had on the phone was launcher pro and it still froze.
i just went to ADW launcher, i like it alot and you can resize widgets and stuff, very customisable..
2nd favourite is zeam, would be my number one but i couldnt figure out how to save the settings... theres a wide range of other launchers why not try something else ??
my LP does that as well on my vibrant. it really isn't that big of a deal, unless you repeatedly reboot your phone...
just wait a little while after your phone boots and just let everything load up
Yes, we can try another launcher, but launcherpro is best for me, because I want grid 5x6 icons. Go launcher is great as well, but there is max 5x5 :/

I had the same thing happen when I flashed Apex 8.x for my Captivate a little while back. It wasn't my first GB flash, but it was the only one that gave me that issue. It happened after I restored user apps from TiBU - I got the "out of space" error from the market when I clearly had plenty. The only fix I found was to re-flash the ROM and then manually re-install apps from the market. I was able to restore the app data from TiBU with no problems.

Reboot and retry.. if that does'nt work wait a few more minutes and try again.
I had the same thing happen to me and a reboot fixed it. Still had 1.4 Gb when the error showed up.
All that reboot won't do a thing, atleast to me it won't, running vs 3.0.27. The error only shows up on some apps ,usually big sized apps like pocket legends. It's a cache related bug that google screwed up on This would be a Fix 'till we get a new update from google. Downside to this fix is that after a reboot u'll have to do it again

Yeah I have reboot many times and have had no results unfortunately. Is the bug a android system bug or is it a bug in the market app? I don't recall ever having this problem before the new market.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
I have run into this a couple of times now. I only encountered it with apps I restored via TiBU.
My fix was to just uninstall the app and re-download from the market instead of upgrading the app.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
The error is in market not android system. I didn't even realized the bug was there 'till I have been told so (all my apps are TiBu-ed), pocket legends I haven't had installed previously and it shows the error all the time. But the fix works, use terminal emulator or adb to run the script.

Ran into this while trying to install Third Blade (49 MB game). Got it to install by removing market updates and installing using old market, but I know the market will update again...
So the fix is to mount a bigger cache directory? Or uninstall market updates like I did. But neither is permanent....lame.
Is the problem with apps that are bigger than 30MB which I see is the current cache size? How could Google be so stupid to screw this up?
Yeah, I stand by google even if they screw up sometimes I mean it's not a big deal since I can grab those apps on the pc and then transfer and install it on my cappy.
Another alternative would be to revert back to old market and to avoid it to update once again freeze market updater in TiBu. Here u'll find the old market in many colors http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957331

I like google too but man how could slip by any sort of qualification process. Why would the programmer do that in the first place, is the cache partition typically bigger then 30MB on other phones?
I was able to get the stock market that came with the ROM by going to 'uninstall updates' in management page for market in the settings.
The new Market is back again though so I'll probably have to do a fix again next time I want to install/update a big app. I'll probably do the mount thing this time, I don't reboot my phone for weeks at a time so that's not a big deal. Users without root will have to go back to an older market over and over until they fix it though.
Sorry, but you'll have to blame Samsung for this one. Most phones do indeed have much larger cache sizes. Even the T-Mobile G1 (only 256MB) has 64MB cache.
I have put together a fix for this, but I'm a bit leery to publicly release it. Basically, I ended up doing what Samsung probably should have done in the first place. I repartitioned the device to have a 64MB cache by stealing space from the dbdata partition. This involves a complete phone wipe. It's working all right for me so far, but I do not know what the side effects or long term effects might be. I suspect that one is that any package that includes a dbdata image expecting the larger size will fail to flash...
On both my Nexus 4 & Nexus 7 running latest factory Jellybean I have noticed that whenever I update an app using the Google play store I get a little popup message saying 'Internal Storage Left' and then a number that is only a couple of MB.
Both my devices have quite a few GB free so I am wondering what this means, where it is coming from and how to stop it.
Cheers
Baz.

Never heard of it.
Curiously I did notice this morning that the amount of memory displayed per app is consistent on both my devices. That is to say that updating the Ebay app on my Nexus 4 gave the popup of 'Internal Storage Left 1.13MB', updating the same app on my Nexus 7 gave exactly the same message.
The same happens to me... Nexus 7 2013

You all know apps install on the system partition I believe..? Not their data...but the apps themselves. If the system partition fills up, no more apps....no matter how much internal sd space you have left.
Correct me if I'm wrong??
Not saying this is the issue at hand....just wanted to point out the proper place to look at space available.

I got also that message this morning and I have 4G+, a play store bug?
There are reports in many android related forums about this, the general consensus is it's a Google bug with one of it's services.
It happened on my HTC, I actually did a soft reset (shutdown and battery pull) thinking something was crashing out and I have not seen it happen again since.
Pressing and holding the power button on the Nexus 7 for 10 seconds will trigger a soft reset as well.
It started appearing on my GNex and n7, seems like it's on my mum's n4 too.

I just started seeing this on my 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7 devices. Anytime I install something from the market I get this message. It is telling my I have like 2MB free. There is at least 10GB free so I'm not sure what is up.
I've noticed this message appear today when i've tried to install some apps on my N4. So i uninstalled the most likely ones that could potentially interfere with the system and reinstalled them one by one and on my N4 it seems that ES File Explorer File Manager is the guilty app. I can still install apps but i get a pop up with the low storage alert every time i install anything. There's 12GB spare space on my phone as well.
Interesting.. I have that installed too. I'll uninstall to see what happens. Thank for the info.

ES File Explorer was updated today so hopefully it may resolve the issue. I have also contacted the developer and given them this URL to see whether or not they can identify if it is the cause.
Pretty sure that they added something in, all they need to do is reverse the code change.

Good call, mate. This was irritating me from a knowledge standpoint. I'm okay to keep ES installed until this silliness is patched, (their file-explorer is that good..imo) I just wanted to know where it was coming from.
I did uninstall it just to test, and I no longer received the messages either. So this is basically settled. I'll email the developers about the problem, just as Baz8755 already has, and I'm sure it'll be fixed in no time. Everyone doesn't need to get a new file explorer--unless they really want to, of course.
Anyway, thanks again DodgyDave100. You're not quite so dodgy, are you?
And here I just figured the new Market app was doing it. Well hopefully ES fixes it. It is a bit annoying.
You can turn it off
Es file manager is definitely the culprit. If you go to settings>display and uncheck the box for Show space low warning you will disable the popup. I assume it's showing it when you use more than half of your internal memory.
