Phone Loses Reception when Sleeping - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I currently have a problem, my phone would lose all reception from full bars to zero bars but still maintain the H symbol when it goes to sleep. This happens sporadically but quite frequently and it is annoying me to hell because this would cause me to get logged off gtalk and what not. The reception would stay at zero bars until I wake the phone and wait about 10 seconds and go back to full bars again. Ive never had this problem before and Im not sure if its due to CM7 or not but has anyone had this problem or know a fix?

[Q] Time without signal = 100% :D

Hello everybody
I experienced nothing wrong at all with my SGS, but, when I was checking here and there in my phone I noticed that Time without signal = 100% ckecked it many times, restarted, and still, always 100% but nothing is really wrong with the phone, I call receive calls, sms, everything is fine, also battery is fine, signal strenth is five bars -81 dBm, 16 asu, well, this is however only happens in my second home, in my other home, it never gets higher than 10% without signal.
I just wanted to ask if there's any explanation for this
what?
How do you mean "Time without signal = 100%"?
The term when u have not GSM signal or it in airplane mode or what?
no sense
Actually, it makes sense
go to settings => about phone => Battery Use => Cell Standby
and check it, there's "time without signal" it indicates the percentage of time ur phone spent without signal, not because it's in airplane mode, not because it's off, but because there's no coverage
well, in my case, coverage is almost perfect, and still time without signal is 100%

[Q] CyanogenMod Wi-Fi Problem

Hi,
I have flashed my N1 with CM6.1.1 around 2 weeks ago. I'm really satisfied with this ROM.
However, I have noticed my Wi-Fi has gone a little bit weird after flashing CM. Regardless of the Wi-Fi sleep policy setting, my N1 won't turn off the Wi-Fi after it's locked. When I unlock my N1, I can watch the wi-fi icon disappear and then re-appear after a few seconds.
Now I have to manually turn off the Wi-Fi before locking my N1 to conserve the battery. Does anyone know how to get rid of this bug?
Thanks.
i will give you one tip which is its better to leave wifi ON when your phone goes to sleep because it's much better for battery life. if you let wifi turn off during sleep, the phone switches to 3g data which drains far more battery than leaving it on wifi.
now about the disconnect issue, i'm not quite sure what you're seeing. i have a problem with cyanogen 6 where my wifi disconnects for about 3 seconds, and this happens about every 10 minutes or so. its very annoying. but when my phone goes to sleep, i wake it up and still see wifi connected. so no issues there for me.
Wildmonk has some kernel just to address the WiFi issues.
I suggest WM kernel with CM ROM anyway
The problem occurs randomly. Sometimes my phone "knows" it should turn the wi-fi off when it's locked. But most of the time it doesn't...
I think I will live with it.
Anyway. Thanks for the reply.
My WiFi still disconnects every few minutes, then re connects again. It drives me nuts. Cyanogen 6.0
to momomok,
I think you have misunderstood the word "sleep" for Wifi, here sleep means when you are not using your phone the Wifi will turn off temporarily instead of infinitely. It's more like a nap. As you unlock the phone, Wifi will get awake. That's why you will see it re-appear after a few seconds.

[Q] what causes the constant wake status of my phone?

my phone is almost constatly awake (as shown in the battery use graph of 2.3.3).
is there any way to see what causes that? aside from spare parts battery history which says its android system.
any tips?
another poster had this issue and it looked like his phone would lose a signal/service, then re-acquire it, and from that point forward the phone stayed awake and did not go back to sleep. check to see if you have red signal area showing lost connection, and if that correlates to when your phone started staying awake the whole time...
also, check your wifi sleep policy. Settings->Wireless&Networks->Wifi settings->[press menu]->Advanced->wifi sleep policy. should be set to "never" anything else would drain my battery faster. there is some bug in gingerbread. i tried this and it helped me. see if it works for you.
oh yeah forgot to say remember to turn off your wifi when not in use
checked for signal loss ... nothing there
also wifi was never on so the policy can't be the culprit ...

That would be me The signal loss was deliberate though, I forced 2G only at that point, but yeah it stayed awake afterwards.
I've also had random extended awake periods in the night that weren't related to any signal loss, I'll have to remember to get a screen shot next time it happens.

I have the exact same issue. Help?? My phone is always in the 'awake' state regardless of what I do.
i'm using CM7 and one possible source of the problem is the trackball notifications. as long as the light is blinking the phone is in a wake state.
there must be other issues tho, as my phone keeps awake sometimes without any notification blinking.
Notifications keep phone awake.
I'm having the same trouble with my Nexus One on CM7. Any time I receive a notification, the trackball starts blinking and my phone stays awake until they are manually dealt with. I like the blinking light, but it would be better if it only went for a couple minutes or so and let my phone go back to bed...
Does anyone have any advice for this? I've tried CM7 stable and now the current nightlies, and it's all been the same.
Thanks!

O2x issue - Battery freezes and mobile data stop working

Hi all,
I've got an annoying issue on my O2x. Sometimes when I leave it in standby for a long time (>30mins) with the screen off, the battery percentage freezes and I can't make or receive calls/sms; also mobile data stop working. If I try to activate flight mode, nothing happens. I have to reboot the phone.
Example:
Yesterday I went to sleep (battery: 73%).
I woke up after 6 hours (battery: 71%).
I used the phone for ~2 hours (battery: still 71%).
Then I noticed that Mobile Data were disabled (can't enable it) and signal was fixed to 3/4 bars (even if I tried to go somewhere w/o phone signal - still 3/4).
Tried to make calls, send sms but can't (battery: still 71%).
Tried to turn on airplane mode, it disabled Wi-Fi but nothing else happened (battery: still 71%).
At the end I had to reboot the phone. At boot, battery was 17% (the true percentage, I suppose) and everything with mobile data/signal was ok. Then I received 7-8 messages from people that tried to contact me during this "issue" time. :\
This crappy thing is happening like once a day, so please help me!!
(I'm running Leaked v20o with BB725, but I had the same issue through Topogigi/Thanatos/CM/v20L with different BBs/RILs!)
I have the same problem. Battery freezes at 37%, and I can't receive/make calls. If I reboot the phone then the battery start to show the correct charge. This happens every day. It sucks.
Well, at least I'm not the only one...
Someone told me it could be an hardware problem (battery).. So I think I'll buy a new battery as soon as possible and try... :S
I had the same issues when I upgraded my phone to the official Gingerbread release. Prior to that I was on Topogigi's ROM, which is GB as well, and never had similar problems using two different basebands (but I honestly don't remember what number they were). When I switched to CM7 I never faced this issue again, so I don't think it is a hardware problem.

[Q] Time Without a Signal

Anybody else have issues with the time without a signal stat under the Cell Standby in Power menu? Mine is consistently over 80 to 90 percent and I definitely am not without signal near that much. I have signal alll the time and never miss calls or have problems with data connectivity.
Is there really no one else out there seeing this?
