[Q] Google Talk with Video? - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Could we use this and grab the apks/odex to run the video stuff from system/app?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13304663&postcount=1

I tried pushing this to system/app but didn't get the new app. One note, the new gtalk app is namd talk2.apk. I simply added it to the app directory but did not delete the original talk.apk so maybe renaming it would do the trick. Try it yourself and fill us inr

Think I have to wait til next nightly. Maybe it has some dependencies with 2.3.4? I know they're merging/have merged it, so I'll keep an eye on that. They they found a fix for the camera as well.

VTok
Its not a perfect solution but the Vtok app does video chat through Google Talk. The video quality isn't the greatest, but it works alright with the camera and mic.

I was able to get g-talk to work from the instruction found here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793
It just wont load a video call when I tried it.

If you run CM7 for Harmony, there is new nightly I think nightly #60, and new Google Apps from yesterday, it includes Gtalk and supports Video Chat.
I have been running CM7 for about a week or so, and quite happy with it. I am running CM7 on my Evo for couple of months or more, and love the reliability and stability.
That's one way to get Gtalk on your Gtablet.

search for the VTOK in Market - Google Voice/Video working fine - even though it is still in VTOK beta !

VTOK works great. I was skeptical but it works and I am just on Vegan 5.1.1, not even on Gingerbread

Same here. I'm running nightly 62, but gapps from March.

where do you find google talk? not in the market...

Latest gapps (0503)

VTOK Works.. but...
my video image is always sideways (and yes I have turned the tablet around)

Yes, I'm cross posting. Sue me -- Ban me -- Make me buy excessive numbers of silly gagets -- Oh, wait...
Anybody have it working on G-Tablet?
Official CM7 2.3.3
I installed per the adb instructions in the original post, using first file (G-Tablet only has WiFi anyway).
Talk_with AV.zip (2.62 MB, 8162 views)
I get the black screen and return to buddy list when I initiate video call.
Tried various logical permissions on libtalk_jni.so
(I think it should be 644, based on the other .so's)
Tried erasing frameworks cache.
Here is the beginning of the relevant stuff from logcat:

Also, I have not found a newer gapps for tegra at the above link (or any other).
Lastly, a possibly marginally helpful hint:

Bump.
Sorry to bump, but it's been a while, and nothing new.
There are some later versions on this thread:

Has anybody gotten this working on the gtablet? I've flashed the 5/7 modified gapps from the nexus one cm7 nightly thread and it goes from a black initiating video chat screen back to the list of chat contacts

Has anyone had any success with this on the Honeycomb ROM?

Completly vanilla, no sense nor this was based off a sense rom, it is completly stock vanilla OS.

Android 2.2
Enjoy!
http://www.mediafire.com/?lb5duxk9ytef7zt
If anyone wants to take over this rom its completely okay, I dont notice anymore bugs on this besides the wifi scan.
Noticed fixes from FRG33:
- i did notice that on audio playback it does not sound choppy or skip. (i.e. streaming audio, music, browser, youtube)
- gallery loads images a lot smoother now
- battery seems to play well
- few fixes you'll notice coming from FRF91 (nothing major)
overall its okay.

bumping this out of curiosity, didnt notice this vanilla ROM until it was linked from another thread. anyone else have any thoughts about this?
Can someone test to see if their LED's are working, might not blink but they will light up if the screen is off. (only if screen is off)
I added the prop edit and the HW but can someone confirm if they do work.

hi guys,
since i installed MIUI half of my games dont work...
for example: Zombieville starts and when the company-logo comes, i'm in the homescreen again, without any FC or something...
i used catlog to see the errors, but i'm not a developer, so this says nothing to me - maybe someone know why the error happen ?

Try using a task manager and ending all tasks and then launching the game, i had a problem like this with plants vs zombies a couple of time the memory was full and it couldnt clear it quick enough so it just ended it and when to homescreen with no error.
thx for the reply, but it still doesnt work
maybe someone know what sort of error it is ?
noone know the error in post 1 ?
The input pipe fd has been closed by someone. Either the window has been
closed so the client correctly closed the fd, or something in the process is
accidentally closing that fd when it shouldn't, or the process crashed and
the fd got closed by the kernel.
Try reinstalling the game and launching it again or try a different rom, its most likely being caused by the rom. My guess is your on the 2.3 gingerbread rom which is always going to have random problems untill lg release an official version.

yes, i'm on gingerbread - a custom-made MIUI, which i get from a forum ... but it's strange, i restarted the phone 3times and then the game zombieville worked again, without closing itself
reinstall didn't work, also move it to sd-card or internal didn't solve the problem ...
i also think that it's a bug of the ROM, maybe i gonna send an email to the developers and hope they can fix it
have you tried it with chainfire 3d from the market???

[Q] Built a custom AOSP ROM, sound + video does not work

Hi All,
I wanted to learn how to build an AOSP ROM for my Droid Incredible (original version), and I was finally able to get a working build today (i've been at it for more than a month on and off when I have time).
I downloaded gingerbread-release and used the CM overlay to get the vendor-specific stuff. The proprietary files were pulled from my working OMGB phone (which I understand borrows a lot from cyanogen; well-- the kernel at least).
My problem is that (1) I can't get any audio to play, (2) any time I try to play a video (like Youtube) I get a force close, and (3) the camera wont work.
I'm pretty sure (3) is a totally different problem, as I've seen lots of ROMs where the camera won't work.
Does anyone have any point that I could start on this? I've posted my logcat here: pastebin.com/GPqpD8N3
(sorry-- I'm not allowed to post links yet.)
I googled it but I'm having trouble finding anything pertinent.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you anyone can provide!!
EDIT: By the way, since this post I have changed my setup. All of my proprietary modules are from the CM nightly build now, instead of having modules from OMGB and and overlay from CM. I did this to make it more consistent in case I run in to any more problems.
Sorry -- additional detail that I meant to add in the post (but it won't let me re-edit for 5 minutes):
The bottom of the log shows me trying to play a song in the music player. From what I can tell, /system/bin/mediaserver is crashing and performing a stack dump; however I don't know why or how I can fix it.
It will not play any ringtones either, but the DTMF tones *do* sound when you press on the digits, and the phone/speakerphone work fine as well.
I just figured it out myself... in the logcat there is the line:
frameworks/base/media/libstagefright/omx/OMXMaster.cpp:90 err != OMX_ErrorNoMore
if you go to that file, in line 90:
CHECK_EQ(err, OMX_ErrorNoMore);
I just commented it out and sound works fine.
Now if I can get the camera working... any ideas?
Hmm I know the bugglas beast nightly's had the camera issue.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Thanks, @Kiboe for the reply. I found the fix last night (right after I posted ) on xda-developers through Google Groups.
I implemented @dferreira's suggestion, and it compiled just fine. Now I have a working camera, but video still isn't working. (Also accelerometer isn't working, but I believe I have already found the answer for that).

[Q] Instagram for Android

I would like to know if anyone has tried Instagram on their Nexus One and it crashes after choosing a filter for a photo and processing it. I am running MIUI Gingerbread.
Thanks.

Bump. Anyone have an answer? Surely at least someone here has Instagram? Or could someone at least download it from the market and try applying a filter and processing as photo.
12MB? Account required? No wonder. ;p
But yeah it worked for me. ARHD3.0 no kernel change.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Hmm strange. I just found this also: http://help.instagram.com/customer/portal/articles/467390-crash-when-applying-a-filter-android-only-
We are working to address an issue where the Android app crashes and returns users to the Instagram Feed screen (without uploading the photo) or crashes back to the device's home screen on some devices when trying to apply a filter.
Some users have fixed this issue by increasing the camera resolution setting from their device camera's settings, or by updating to the newest operating system available for their device.
Please note that some devices seeing this crash do not support OpenGL ES 2, which is the technology required to power Instagram's filters. Devices that do not support OpenGL ES 2 will not be able to run Instagram properly. Find more information on whether your device is supported.

I'm having the same issue on AOKP build 28. Mine also crashes when trying to take a photo from within the app, not just when trying to use a photo already in your gallery.
Same problem, N1 with MeDroid 7.2 and the last Instagram's update....
Same problem on my N1 with ICS. I'm running BCMRC3.4Update1 and Instagram also crashed immediately after applying a filter. I suspect an OpenGL issue but I have no clue on how to resolve.

SCREENSHOTS:
Greeneyes is the one I just hit up for a wifi fix TheRiseM does not know much
Your main error is
Code:
AndroidRuntime(11867): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to instantiate application com.android.htcdialer.DialerApp: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.android.htcdialer.DialerApp
Do you have HTC Dialer in the ROM?
(since I haven't really seen you around, I'm going to assume you don't really know my situation. I can help troubleshoot and give you ideas, but it takes me 5-8 hours to download these ROMs, which I'm not going to do because they change so frequently).
And I completely understand that situation; I used to have an issue with my cable for a week while they were fixing it. My net was as slow as adsl.
I was actually here about a year ago actively. But got an Evo3D and did my thing there for a bit. Now, I want the same things for Inc as my Evo had.

Oh ok I getcha .... That is seriously like my upload speed so I can see where your problem comes in
What I did so far was I took wpa_suplicant, wifitools and wpa_cli from the cm9 and copied over to bin.
Then I added :
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhtc_ril.so
ro.ril.def.preferred.network = 4
ro.telephony.default_network = 4
wifi.interface = wlan0
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=45
mobiledata.interfaces=rmnet0
ro.com.android.dataroaming = trueto the build.prop
Then made sure eth0 was changed to wlan0 in the conf files.
And then lastly, I took the wifi permissions from etc and copied over.
Also, added the base gps.conf
As of right now I believe I have cell service and/or data.
But not sure because I don't have a carrier for this device.
But I believe I did because the timezones don't have to be set manually anymore.
So I need some help testing it if it works or not.
Wifi is still a no go but it is getting better.
I don't see the same error messages I was seeing as before in the logcat.
EDIT: Just fixed Sdcard mount indevice. Can listen to music and view pictures now
Uploading ver 1.4 now.
I was gonna test the cell/dialer but dev-host is down atm.
ver 1.4 is up now.
Ok it looks like dev-host is back.
EDIT: Ok thanks. I will post my findings in this post so not to clutter.

I'm about to head to bed but i will be on a different Rom on my phone and keeping an eye on it.
I can't wait myself to find out or not if cell service, data, gps and bluetooth work.
Well I amazed to see the progress! I want to congratulate everyone who is involved.
Works:
Cell Service- Earpiece, Mic and Speaker phone all work. Sound very loud but a little noisy in my opinion.
SMS - Text send and receive
Dialer - calls out and works during call
Compass - works in Speedview app
Music - plays through speaker
Don't work:
WiFi - error
Data - can't turn on
Bluetooth - can't turn on
GPS - checked but still don't work
Camcorder - crashes
