The following apps fail installation (Amazon / Market / Ti Backup) after 1.2 update and Manual root. Did anyone get any of these to install and run?
All Angry Birds
NBA Gametime
Paradise Island
Also, new in the market:
HBO Go
Be sure to follow these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13298075&postcount=92
As of right now, some apps like Angry Birds will only install WITHOUT the SD card in, while some of them require the SD card.
Angry Birds...
I got Angry Birds, Seasons, and Rio to install, with the sd card in. I had followed the install instructions to the letter including the fix for the market, all that after I had upgraded using the signed modified keep cwm side load zip. When I first tried in the Market the install process went into downloading, but wasn't downloading anything just stuck on dowloading. After I canceled it out and tried again they all downloaded.
I had downloaded other apps before, and I had also restored apps - no data - from my Titanium backups. I had also downloaded apps from Slideme.
I used the Manual Nooter "manualnooter-4-4-28.zip". I also restored live wallpapers - I don't really care about the performance hit - but I can't get my favorite "Water" to work, even though it works on my Nookie Froyo, CM7, and HC!
Sigh...
1.2 and Market
There have been several issues with Market in the 1.2 Nooter. The devs are working feverishly to get them resolved. HamNCheese seems to have found the solution, he's testing on a fresh install now and will post the fix once tested. Since it's been less than a week I'm looking forward to having everything up and running so soon!
Patience grasshopper... Good luck and have fun!
Angry Birds Install Fix
So I finally got AngryBirds to install on my 1.2 Manual Nootered nook.
1) Open Marketplace.
2) From the market, install your favorite file browser (mine is ES File Explorer).
3) Install Amazon app store.
4) Download Angry birds from Amazon app store. When the download is done, but before the install starts, exit the app store.
5) In the file explorer, go to /sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.venezia/cache.
6) Copy the desired APK file (it was vnz57060.apk for me) over to the nook internal drive (note: file can't be moved, but it can be copied).
7) Remove the SD card from the nook.
8) Install AngryBirds by navigating to the app in your file browser and clicking on it.
9) Play.
It's a bit round about, but it gets around the issue of needing an SD card to download, but then not being able to install with an SD card in the device.
Good luck all!

I can confirm that this works, as it is how I got all my Amazon apps to install. Not too bad once you get the hang of it.
I managed to get my Angry birds installed by unzipping my Ti backup and using adb install. I guess adb disables enough of the SD card processes.
Can't wait til I can get a couple of new apps from the marketplace to install.
Manual Nooter - Angry Birds install
I tried these methods on my NC ML 4.5 install (from NC Development page GabrialDestruir)
Known Issues and Solutions:
"Download Unsuccessful" on Market v1.82
Having an SDCard in the slot fixes this.
Installation Error - Unknown Reason -18
Remove SDCard.
Find in Market and select for Install - This will Fail "Download Unsuccessful"
Using a File Manager to navigate to /cache/downloadnull
Select the download with the Angry Birds (or other app) Icon and install manually.
Reinsert SDCard---------
Didn't work for me even though the download shows up in ROM manager it will not install either with or without the SD inserted.
Could install it via Dropbox though. Anyone have any suggestions?
I used mybackup pro from last auto noot (1.1) to install no problems with all my games being install along with data .

I got Angry Birds to install via Dropbox and then used my back-up from 1.1 to get all the scores back and data, as well. It just buggs me that I can't get it to install via Market at all.
Copy the .apk in /cache/downloadnull, navigate up to /media folder, paste there, and touch to install.

I also confirm that angybirds and few other apps that fail to install from the market can be easily installed via adb.
For this to work you need to have adb installed on your computer. In NookColor Tools go to development and check "USB Debugging"
Attach Your nook to your computer and open adb
Command:
adb install <path to apk file>
I hope this helps. Thanks to LakerPaul for trying this out.
Cheers
Can someone just release the damn proper autonooter for 1.2? Will donate to developer.
I'm tired of keeping my 1.1 NC in wi-fi off mode.
I have tried both 1.2 Manual Nooter and HmC apk enabler with no luck no matter what I try I can't get the apk files to run. but at the same time I am still new to all of this.
Get the build.prop file and apply it, that will keep the update from happening.

is there any app that does this? it's getting annoying to use astro file manager, checking all the apps i want to install, and then still giving permission to each app to be installed. tried searching, but yielded no relevant results.
I don't know whether you can do it via graphical UI, but surely you can use ADB and simple shell script to install from your PC.
Code:
for APP in `ls *.apk`; do
adb install $APP
done
I think it's possible also from terminal emulator with similar script - replace adb with pm, but I didn't test this one.

Are you restoring apps after a wipe/reset? Try titanium backup, it does backups and every data off every app and just by doing a batch restore everything goes back to how it was previously

Android Commander can do bulk install, just plug in your phone whilst on normal mode, dont activate mass storage, and you can batch install - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597098
Perhaps even this app can achieve the same result - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585085
Droid explorer can do this easily
thanks, everyone! yes, this was because i installed a new froyo rom(chromatic 4.4).
it took awhile, but i got android commander working, and was able to install all my apps using it.
just having a weird issue now;
so, as mentioned, i used android commander to install all my apps. they all seem to have installed on the phone, however, and not on the SD card. i have "allow application moving" checked, and "install location" set to 'automatic'. i am able to move the applications 1-by-1 in settings > manage applications > downloaded, then clicking on the application, and then pressing "move to sd card". why aren't the apps being installed to the sd card? how can i move them all at once? i really don't want to move each app, one at a time. thanks
Here's my problem: I had several paid and free apps from the Market installed on my Autonooted stock NC. I then "upgraded" to HC v4 on uSD, and now those same apps are no longer visible in the Market, and I can't download them from the web market. (I've tried spoofing to Xoom, etc in build.prop to no avail)
I can reboot into the stock ROM by simply swapping out the uSD card. Is there any way I could then extract apk's for the apps I want, save them and then reinstall to HC through adb?
To answer myself:
I used Root Explorer to copy the .apk's from /data/app on the stock ROM to the SD card, then to my PC.
Then, booted into HC, and used adb to install from the PC.
Only partial success. Of the 5 apps I tried, one was completely successful, two installed but force closed when started, and two would not install because they required a missing shared library.

You can also use Titanium backup to backup on one device, then copy the backup to your other device and restore.
I'm having some trouble getting apps onto my phone. I use the Android SDK to run an emulator at the 1.5 level which has the android market app. I use the android market on the emulator to install apps onto the emulator. I backup those apps on the emulator using Astro and I then use adb to pull the backed up app (apk file) onto my PC.
After this I use adb to push the apk file from my PC to the SD card on my phone. I use Astro on the phone to navigate to the file and install it. At this point a progress bar appears and the screen says "Installing..." but it never finishes. I've waited over an hour and still nothing. I get the same result if I place the apk file on the internal memory (/) instead of on the SD card. I even tried installing directly from my PC using adb and it just sits there.
I'm running Android 2.2 on my phone. I tried setting up a 2.2 emulator with the market app on it but was having some difficulty. Somehow I don't think the emulator should make a difference though.
Any help would be appreciated. For you guys out there without data plans, how are you getting apps onto your phones?
Btw I have the phone set to allow installation of non-market applications.
No takers? I know there's gotta be some people out there without data plans. Hopefully I can figure this out as I don't want to have to go back to Windows Mobile.
In case it matters, I'm using the ROM and Jan 14 240x320 nbh file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738612.

There's a whole OS change there, so no. The best thing to do is do a titanium backup of your apps/data, then restore to stock, then do the 1.3 update, then go run the manual nooter. I also posted a slightly modified version of manual nooter that you could use as well here.
Thank you for your help. I'll take a look at your posts.
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App
So, if I've understood correctly, my procedure would be as follows:
1) Create a bootable ClockWorkMod sd card and update it with the 3.2.0.1 files
2) Add both Manual Nooter files to the sd card
3) Back up the current state with Titanium BU
4) Wipe the System & Data directories
5) Restore to Stock 1.0
6) Register the device with B&N
7) Apply the 1.3 update
8) Run the first Manual Nooter file from the sd card
9) Reboot
10) Login to Market
11) Run the second Manual Nooter file from the sd card
12) Reboot
13) Run the "Fix Permissions" from the sd card
14) Reboot
15) Restore from Titanium BU
-Does step 10 require the Google login ID & password I originally used way back when?
-Will restoring with Titanium BU bring back all apps, data, settings like I've been used to seeing?
-Will I still be able to use ADB to sideload content, apps, etc?

That's about right. Except fix permissions is something you do in Rom Manager (at least that's where I do it).
TiBU will bring back the data/settings only or all 3 if you want. I reinstalled from market or amazon and then restored the data when I went that route.
Yes, you should use the same google id, although I'm not sure it's required. But you'll be able to use ADB and all that.

No - it's available from the market as free. There is a paid version as well though. Not sure how exactly you get it on there without a working market though (if it's not working). Maybe AppBrain or a quick google search for the apk - the free one shouldn't be an issue to get.
Titanium BU Question
So far, the conversion has gone well. I followed the steps outlined above, except I went from 1.0.1 stock to 1.2 stock and then to 1.3 stock.
I am at the point where I would like to use TBU to restore applications and data. However, I get the following message:
INSTALL BLOCKED
For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from Android Market.
How do I unblock? I used to go under Nook Tools but I don't see a tick to enable non-market installs.

I noticed the check box on the first page, but no lettering now after 1.3. Check and uncheck that one anyway and try it.
Are my Amazon Market annd Android Market apps retained when I sideload the 1.3 update? Do I need to reinstall all the apps and restore the settings? Thanks.
my phone : lg p970

I'm trying to break into the phone but I can not as long as I put a memory card and I can not find it without a file manager, I tried to send Bblotos but I can not find the file, what can you do?

Just use this simple tut to Set up adb and install The apk.

You can even use Polaris office application to access files on your sd card
As @sarry86 said, Polaris office has a file manager.

I think it is an utility for rooting the phone.
Okay, now I got the following situation:
I do root your phone, the superuser installed on your phone.
And also installed through the app recovery rom maneger but old version maybe 3 I do not remember, I went to the menu of the recovery and did wipe everything and then I install the new version and wrote me
e / can not mount / sdcard
Then I could not install the version and did rebot phone I had version 2.2.2 in which
And the superuser is still installed on the phone ..
Currently do not have a file manager I can manually install software via the sd card if I'm going to market it wrote me the following message:
sorry there's not enough space to install this item
I also tried to go through Menu> settings> applications> manage apps to transfer software to sd card but do not have the option of that one.
What can I do?

This happened to me once. I mean the mounting and "not enough space" problem on 2.2.2.
But then I bought new and bigger sd card which (i donĀ“t know why) recovery could mount. Then I was able to flash a custom rom and when I rebooted the phone, "not enough space" problem was gone. I was able to install apps from google play again.
Maybe you should buy a new sd card card or at least format current one, that helped me
