Ive been learning how to do my own PS type work and have come up with a couple sets of glossy button icons with text. So far ive only been a consumer in the Android world and thought it was time to offer a little something should anyone be interested.
The two zip files contain 43 button icons each. One set is a glossy carbon look while the other has a carbon fiber infield with red boarded text. Both sets are .PNG files and if you have any software which will open them feel free to make some more and or change anything you wish. I made these from scratch based upon a tutorial I found on the internet and from hear on place them in the public domain so have at them.
Here are a couple screen of then on my phone. I havent fine tuned the background but you can get the idea of how they look. Using Virtual Desktop you can scale them to any size you wish as well as link them to whatever application your prefer.
Seems im too new here to attach photobucket images.
thanks very nice work.. will look good on my DINC...
Very nice work, you earn my respect, I can just dream of something like this made by me...
Hope those who have DLed these icon buttons have liked them. Im a bit of a noob at the PS aspect of things and noticed that if I were to export the icons they will retain the same qualities yet are substantially reduced in file size. Example being one of them went from 55KB to 9KB and the zip files were 1/10th of what i offered originally. So, if you feel like it grab another set and lessen the load on your CPU.
Im working on a set of small normal size icons that match and offer system setting functions so check back in a day or so.
Added a set of matching smaller icons to the original post list. They are a little larger than normal sized icons and fit 5 across on a Droidx. Remember you can adjust the number of columns and rows in LP to best suit your layout needs.
I guess a word on what to do with all of these...
Use LP Plus allows you to resize all that you add. Download "Desktop Visualizer" from the market and install. You will find DV when you long press for widgets on the home screen.
Ive been using the 3x1 for the larger buttons but found the 2x1 works as well. For the smaller icons use the 1x1 (not the first listed 1x1ss). Once you have them extracted to a folder all you need to copy the folder to your SD card. Ive been putting them in the DCIM/Camera folder. Then when you have chosen the icon size to use you simply browse to the image and then select a function.
Some of the smaller icons need to be associated with an event rather than an application. Instead of tapping Application, choose Other and then "Activities". A new list of options become available to map the icon to whatever you want. Just take a little time and read the smaller print listed under the activity. Some of the display and sound related items are found in the Settings folder.
Ive also found that DLing an app called "Blocco" (free @ Market) and a few of their plug-ins are useful as well. There are plug-ins for Airplane mode and wifi toggle etc. If what you selected doesnt work just drag it to the trash and take another stab. I figured it out so you should be able to as well.
Added the psd file for both types of the carbon button icons. Feel free to make your own by using photo shop or similar software. Just edit the text, reposition it if needed and export the new image. Exporting the image will reduce the file size a lot and help with phone performance.
Included buttons say Market

First of all....VERY nice work. Nice and clean. Second..I downloaded the .psd zip and when I opened it, I didn't find the .psd....only the market.png files (one red and one black). I assume this was an accident, but I wanted to make an icon for TapaTalk. So far your one of the very few that have done TechBuzz and I thank you for that. If you would be so kind to either verify the .psd file and re upload it or make a TapaTalk icon, I would be very greatful. Thank You.

These are beautifull! Some green one would be cool too.

These look sick! Do you mind if I use some of these in my theme? I might alter them a little to match. Good job!
no problem, do as you will. I put them here for anyone who can use them.

Where can I get some high resolution gtab wallpapers? What resolution do I need?
It seems like you'll want 1024x1024 since the device can be rotated. I just did a Google Image search with 1024x1024 as the parameters and found all kinds of stuff. I just got my tablet yesterday but it seems like it's working well.
You should try my new "Bouncing Clock" Live Wallpaper that I just stuck on the market today!! I'm loving it on my G-Tab and Nexus One right now.

Best advice right here.
If you find they look blurry on your GTab, search the market for an app called "Wallaby".
Also Solar Wind and 3D Starfield are downright purdy live wallpapers that run smooth as silk on the Gtab.

Good advice on Wallaby! I just grabbed it tried a couple of wallpapers and it definitely helps.
Ok, I am beyond frustrated. I am rooted w/Vegan and had zero issues doing that...but getting a wallpaper to actually look like it is suppossed to on my g tab...well that is a completly diffeerent story. I have tried the 1024 x 1024 as well as the 1024 x 600 options. But everytime I find an image I like from google, open it, hold down to bring up the dialogue box to "set as wallpaper" it takes the image and blows it up! It never looks like the image I found from google. I have also saved them to the gallery thinking that the cropping would help. Well, no dice! What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I am bored by the plain color backgrounds that came with the Vegan rom...can anyone help? Thanks!

^^^^ Multipicture Live Wallpaper (app) allows you to set wallpapers properly. Thanks to Shadowhawk2020 for bringing this app to my attention. Even Wallaby did not work properly, so MLW is the only way I know of to set wallpapers properly on the gtab.
EDIT: OP - try seaching the market for HD wallpapers and Filke HD wallpapers.
EDIT2: Check this post out for what sounds like another app to help get wallpapers scaled properly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13117070&postcount=361

When you go into your wallpapers in flick ur pics, tap on the image you want on screen 1 first and a little #1 will show up on the thumbnail image. Same for screens 2 and 3. Screens 4 and 5 if you have them. I you assign more images than screens you have available it will rotate through them in order when you swipe from screen to screen.
EDIT: It seems that I told you wrong above. I assumed that was the way it worked. I had only 2 images assigned in mine and image 1 would show on my center screen, while image 2 would display on all other panels. When I just tried what I told you above, it randomized the images displayed for the individual screen backgrounds. What I mentioned above may be a good feature request to ask of the dev.
EDIT #2: I have sent developer an email regarding this and have pointed him to this thread. Hopefully he will respond soon, either via email or by dropping in on us here. It would be nice to have him here with us to find our specific needs for our tablets.

Hi All,
I'm Francesco, one of the Flick ur Pics developers
I'm glad to join you in this great forum.
Flick ur Pics allows to choose up to 9 images from your gallery and it shows a random picture when you change homescreen (or when elapse the refresh time, if selected).
Actually you can't set exactly an image for each home screens (i.e.: image1 in the homescreen #1, image2 in the homescreen#2), but we already investigated this feature and if there's a strong request, we'll be more than happy to add it as soon as possible.
Best,
Francesco

Why only 9? I have a collection of hundreds of images that I would like to use, and would hate to be stuck to only 9. Especially since I can't get multipicture live wallpaper to install, so your app seems to be the only option I have.

Hi Francesco,
Im very interested in the one wallpaper per page. I have brought this up in another thread as well. Someone had told me to try flick ur pic but I too found it wasnt setup this way. I think there are a lot of people who are looking for this feature. It works best when you have pages set for certain things. Like a movie page, a games page, a news page, and etc. That would be AWESOME!

Francesco, so glad you could join us. I am sure you will find lots of people here in the gTab forum with several ideas to make Flick ur pics the best wallpaper app for this tablet. I am yet another that would love the ability to set images per screen. Of course you already knew that from my email.
Once again, really glad that you decided to join us. We are glad to have an active flick ur pic dev willing to take the time to get involved with the gTab community.

This is what I’m doing for a landscape orientation with a wallpaper that correctly "scrolls" from left to right and is not distorted or zoomed in on (NON HONEYCOMB ROMs ONLY!!!):
Fist download and install the app "Wallpaper Slideshow" from the market (free). You’ll use that to set the wallpaper (or wallpapers, as it will automatically switch between multiple at intervals you desire. If you want it to show just a single wallpaper, just put that single picture in the folder you tell it to read wallpapers from.
Your wallpaper’s resolution should be: 2048 x 600. To be clear that's a width of 2048 and a height of 600. You may have to crop, pad and/or otherwise resize your image.
Using Wallpaper Slideshow lets you use landscape images in their native resolution (aka not cropped) that are scrollable. Wallpapers in portrait orientation are zoomed in on the center of the image and are scrollable as well.
Setting the same 2048 x 600 wallpaper via the Android (2.3.7) interface does the opposite: portrait looks clear and is scrollable, but landscape must be cropped and is displayed zoomed in, usually off center and extra pixilated. Since I primarily use my tablet in Landscape mode I think I’d rather have the landscape wallpaper looking sharp and clear.
Other apps allow you to set non cropped/zoomed images of the Gtab’s native resolution of 1024 x 600 but usually don’t have any options allowing them to be easily “scrollable”. Wallpapers that don’t have any transaction effects look stale and desktop-y, IMO.
I’m using Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC, but everything should work the same on other non-honey-comb ROMs.
You can use images with a width resolution that's smaller than 2048 and the app will still set them up as scrollable. However, it will zoom in on them the further and further you get from 2048, making them look more and more pixelated.
One more thing, if you have USB storage turned on and you images are on your SD card (internal/external) your wallpaper may not rotate or scroll correctly. Once you turn it off they’ll be fine.
Pics show the same image file as the wallpaper.
Hi, After rooting my Nook Touch I've been trying to find apps that work. It made sense to me if there was a sticky making it easier to play with our new toys so hopefully a mod will stickie this.
I haven't tried any of these yet but Aruangra said they work with Nook Touch:
Opera Mini (There are zoom buttons !. But it cannot access the local host (192.168.x.x))
Opera Mobile (It can access the local host)
Dictionary.com
NewsRob
Kindle
Documents to Go
Dropbox
InstaFetch
Aldiko
ASTRO file manager
SpeedTest.net
PG Calculator
BuzzBox RSS
Evernote
Moon+ Reader (The physical buttons can also change pages !!! and every page is refreshed. No more ghosting issue)
ADW Launcher (Maybe the only launcher that can change background color of Drawer)
Advanced Task Killer (a Must have)
Button Savior (a Must have)
NookColor Tools (a Must have)
Superuser (a Must have)
Rev01 says these work:
working (on restore)
Titanium Backup
Read it later (Pro)
ElectroDroid
RootExplorer
Terminal Emulator
Wifi Analyzer
Permissions Denied
Samba Filesharing
ShoppingList Plus
Wuala
Autostarts
XDA (Premium) (some threads are empty)
Tebra says these games work:
Crimson Fields
Andoku
Four in a Row HD
apeine:
Tried some, but most of them has some level of ghosting:
Working so far:
- Klondike
- Reversi free
- Nemo picross
- GObandroid (to play Go! - very good)
- Super Sudoku
- Klondike free
- Dark nova (used to love Space Trader on my old Treo)
- Repligo and ezPDF. Both allows annotation and bookmarking. Give it a try!
Repligo doesn't work, or at least it didn't work for me. It installed, but every time I tried to open a .pdf it would flash the menu to accept the license and then disappear.
ezPDF reader seemed to work just fine.
Sync with Google calendar
One of the major reasons for getting my Nook Touch was to be able to sync with google calendar. I was very upset when I learned the ability to sync the calendar was random until now...
synker allows you to manually sync your calendar and mail.
I also have found that Jorte is a much nicer calendar/planner than stock. Both of these apps are free and available on Android market.
The greyscale screen on this takes me back to my old M105 palm pilot days! Just for nostolgia, it would be pretty interesting to see some of these old applications revived either through a palm pilot emulator, which does not exist, or developer-made applications inspired from palm applications. There use to be a whole ecosystem of palm pilot applications built for greyscale touch screens (in super-low resolution) with a poor refresh-rate in mind.
I had an M100 too, and the way that Palm soft was integrated is nowhere to be seen nowadays (not on standard IOS, Android, etc), maybe only on WebOS. If there was such a family of apps as in Pam, the nook would rock. I'll second Starbux on his request.
I'd be the third for a Palmish app. I loved my Treo PDAs. I had some programs to this day I'm unable to find a good replacement for.

Hi! I've found this post looking for references to my apps, I'm the developer of Four in a Row HD (it has its own thread here at XDA).
I didn't know about the Nook Touch till now, that's e-ink screen, isn't it? I wonder how it looks there. I suppose choosing the "Plastic" skin (no textures, just vector graphics) and disabling animations in the options menu would fit fine.
I'm really curious to know how it looks in e-ink, could anyone send me or upload a picture or screenshot? Thanks, and enjoy the game!
google Talk and words with friends
anyone try to use either of these apps? Talk loads but only part of keyboard is shown, so you cannot send messages. my contact list shows up and i can send single words to people as long as the words dont include the letters that are missing.
i loaded words with friends and when i try to load a game or invite someone to play, it says there is a network error. maybe there is an easy fix to this?
other apps that seem to work.

Here is a screenshot of your game on the nook touch.
As you can see, it's a lite difficult to see difference between black player and the not used places on the 16 gray level of the e-ink display.
Thanks! It looks playable, but I'll look into adding a high contrast theme, not just with colors but with textures/patterns. 16 gray levels, OK xD
Thanks, Mocelet2000. I know that B&W tablets are not a "growing" market for Android apps, but your concern shows that maybe it is viable.

No problem, fortunately my game is not about fancy animations, so fixing the contrast in red pieces (haha, sorry, that's black for you) might be easy.
I have a 10" Honeycomb tablet, it is heavy and has too much brightness at night (even at minimum settings). The capacitive screen makes it impossible to write notes or have some precission when drawing. Of course, it's great for all the other things.
A lightweight tablet, with high contrast screen of about 7 inches, easy on the eyes like e-ink (a bit more refresh rate wouldn't hurt...), with resistive stylus, may be even cheap to make and would be the ultimate notepad on the go.
EDIT: a sneak peak of the new theme "Naughts and crosses" designed for black and white screens It will appear in the next update of the game in the Market. Since I don't have a Nook Touch, the following screenshot is actually a screenshot from my mobile phone displayed in my ebook reader (quite weird testbed, haha, but it's closer to reality than photoshop).
Four in a Row HD with enhanced grayscale screens support in the Market now, make sure you're installing version 3.3 at least.
Recommended preferences for the Nook Touch in options menu:
- Choose the "Naughts and crosses" skin.
- Disable animations.
- Check "solid black background" box in case the new gray stripes looks bad.
Other skins might look better now also, specially the default metal skin which has textured face. Moreover, the striped default background helps differentiating holes and chips.
If you've found this update useful, please rate and comment in the Market and/or the official thread at XDA, thanks so much!
Mocelet2000, Thanks for helping us out with the new skins. It's great to see developers supporting such an atypical device such as our Nooks. Ryan

I am a photographer and know a little bit of programming from high school days. I love the Xoom tablet and first thing I thought of using it for was for my photography portfolio. I soon realized that the built-in gallery is way overkill for something like a portfolio which gave me an idea to develop a simple app suited to showcase art or photography portfolios.
Before I share the app, let me just say that when I say I know very little about programming, I mean really very little. This app is fully functional on my Xoom but that is the only device I have been able to test it for. Theoretically, it should work with any Honeycomb tablet (maybe even some Gingerbread ones) but everything has been configured for the Xoom. With that said, below is a link
to the latest version of the app.
I strongly recommend that you format the pictures to 1280 x 800 resolution for optimal performance. I am open to suggestions and feedback on what you think of the app and what features you would like to see.
Thanks!

Yes, I do. Actually, I have some partially implemented code to do just this but it was causing errors so I decided to keep it out of the release for now. Will keep everyone posted on when I have it fixed. Thanks!
I've been using QuickPic. I first use the Gallery Frame widget to access a specific folder that will launch QuickPic. I use image widgets to open specific folders and have a custom 'Portfolio' widget that will launch QuickPic and show the full portfolio listing. The huge benefit of your app from what I can tell in the video is that you can scroll thumbnails over the image you are viewing and there is no lengthy set up as I did with mine. I'll download it and give my feedback.

It looks nice and clean. It is great for single folder portfolios till you make changes to allow multiple folders if you wish. It didn't work at first for me because my images were larger than 1200x800 and you could see the thumbnails but it wouldn't give a full screen view. I usually have them a bit larger because some clients attempt to zoom in on images for detail. Aside from that it's pretty cool. I couldn't figure out how to do the view where the thumbnails are on top of the full screen view. I'm glad that you worked on this. I do get jealous of the portfolio apps on the Ipad at times.
I will be purchase this app.
great job

I usually have them a bit larger because some clients attempt to zoom in on images for detail. Aside from that it's pretty cool. I couldn't figure out how to do the view where the thumbnails are on top of the full screen view. I'm glad that you worked on this. I do get jealous of the portfolio apps on the Ipad at times.

Silly how simple things like multiple folders functionality didn't even occur to me - it sounds simple so I have added it on my To-do list. I want to get basic application preferences completed for the next release and will work on multiple folders next. The alternate view that you saw in the video is being merged into one app right now. You will be able to toggle the views via a quick menu option and set the default in the preferences.
I am curious how big your original images were? I would've thought that the code would work but just slower to process the image.

I plan to keep it free and free of ads
You have made a great start and whether you keep it free or not. I support your efforts. I didn't get a chance to compare image quality but I will. Some of my images are as large 2400px on it's widest side but as I said those few images are mainly to allow the viewer to zoom in to see details. The app freezes or crashes when trying to see the larger images. Another thing I noticed is that vertical images are stretched out to crop into a horizontal meaning that currently you would have to make your whole portfolio horizontal. This is not a major issue but I wanted to mention it.
Do you know whether it works with ICS? It can't find my images (in a folder I made on the root of my internal sdcard, as well as on on the external sd...both named photography).

I am building this with a Xoom on Team EOS ICS rom so yes, it works on ICS. Have you tried a capital P in photography? I will have a new version up tonight that will let you select any folder on your Xoom.
Ok...looking forward to trying the new version. Thanks!
I love the simplicity of this, having just made an OTG cable for my Olympus camera, this app let's me show off my pics with ease. The transition between pics is rather nice too. 5 stars

I will look into the crash issue with large photos. I am aware of the image distortion with vertical images. I am working on adding some code to re-size images for thumbnails while maintaining aspect ratio. Just not sure how to make the full screen interface work with vertical images - any suggestions on this end? Thanks for your feedback!

It's up! The code for changing portfolio is very messy but it gets the job done. If you have already selected a folder and wish to change it, make sure you restart the application for the changes to take effect. You can force restart using the "Delete Thumbnails" menu option or through Fore Close in app info. Hope it works for you this time. Also make sure the images are in the appropriate resolution and in JPG or PNG format. Future versions will be able to handle any resolution images.

Thank you! Glad you like the app - there is more to come soon.
Next items on the to-do list are (some are easy, others will take some time):
1. Merge alternate layout (shown in the Youtube video)
2. Fix thumbnail issues and crash with large images
3. Add preferences screen
4. Add ability for custom boot logo to personalize portfolios
5. Add multiple portfolios support
As always, comments and feedback are appreciated!
Thanks! I really like this, also because of its simplicity.
Maybe you should get it to the market and earn some stars

Thank you! I plan to add it to the market when it can run on "MOST" tablets. Right now everything is suited only for 10 inch Honeycomb+ tablets.
I am very excited about the latest version because of the new features and the way the interface interacts with user settings. This is very preliminary but should give everyone a good feel for what direction this app is heading.
------------------ From OP ----------------------------------------
EDIT 1/19/12 - V3 Uploaded FotolioV3.apk
-> Cleaned up code to allow user to select portfolio folder
-> Added alternate view (as shown in Youtube Video)
-> Some cleanup that make app transitions seamless
** Lots more to clean up but wanted to get a new version out for everyone to test and play with **
Awesome app! So simple and so beautiful! Thanks!!!

What ICS version are you using? I am on Team EOS v34 and it works perfectly fine. I read up they changed the way storage mounts on v38+ so I'll upgrade and take a look. I'll have time tonight to work on this app and I plan to work on the issues so if you can get me the information in time, I may be able to fix it for you
Thanks everyone!
this thread is to warn anyone from hiring appcrates, they will scam you on your money, i hired these people to have the below work creates, the quality of the work was awful, the developer i worked with disappeared multiple times in mid conversations, the quality of the work was so bad that other developers were unable to continue on it, do not hire appcrates, they wanted to refund me on one condition if i signed a nda not to mention my bad experience again and if i did mention it they would take me to court, this is what they wanted me to sign, i made the domain appcratesscam to warm people of these people, the domain will forward to this thread now.
Hello i've been working on a ui design since 2014 and i finally have a launcher thats been begun recently you can see attached pictures of the launcher apk in it's current state and pictures of the final design unfortunatly i lack the funding to get it as complete as i want but an apk is being worked on, this is a different thing that may not appeal to everyone it may be too much for some, it's a complete overhaul of everything from lockscreen etc and it moves away from android quite abit, it begun as a linux distro design but then moved on to an android rom and then to a launcher, SymetiumOS itself is still there but thats when i find help to make it.
features of my ui
1. Custom modes such as pc mode,tv mode, tablet mode and the ability to create new modes, everytime a new mode is made a new settings screen is created, each settings screen has the same options so you can enable the pc appdrawer under mobile mode for example this applies for potrait and landscape under each mode meaning you can move pc mode to mobile mode landscape and have it trigger pc mode in landscape
2.size options for each menu that includes pc appdrawer or desktop appdrawer, notificationpanel and statusbar, recent apps menu, the notificationpanel comes in various sizes if it's set to tablet size then you can pull it down or click it down anywhere similar to an android tablet, this applies to all sizes including the micro size which replicates the feel of a 4k screen.
3.background layer options to appeal to more peoples tastes this includes glass, solid color (material),tranlucency, transparent solid color this layer can be enabled for the desktop appdrawer, notification panel (3 sets of layers for the notificationpanel, category appdrawer, category dock, appdock
4.automatic and manual sorting for the appdrawer if automatic is chosen then the icons of the dock will change using the playstore sorting method, if manual is chosen then the user can customize these categories, removing, renaming, adding new ones, each category consists of an appfield and a widget field above allowing the user to create custom categories such as a news category with news apps and a newswidget
5.the dock can be swiped into from the homescreen but this can also be disabled meaning you have to swipe to reveal the dock and then press an icon, the dock can be at the top or bottom or left or right side of the screen the size of the icons can be adjusted so can the distance between the icons and distance between the edge of the screen
heres an animation for the ui here is an animation showing the ui https://www.facebook.com/symetium/videos/1182698115129367/
Here is the final design of the ui including background layer options, lockscreen, desktop appdrawer and more.

going to release it when it's finished so maybe december or beginning of 2017
the dock menu isn't finished yet theres no way to sort apps yet and theres no automatic sorting option yet
the dock menu will also be able to pull out for a fullappdrawer same with the appdock this is the same as the pixel phone but i was working on that idea before the pixel phone
the pc or desktop appdrawer is missing
the custom recent apps menu is missing
the custom statusbar is missing
it's getting there though here is a attached picture of the apk it's starting to resemble my designs.
Ok, I'll wait till the release.

the team i hired called ended up scamming me and leaving me with a half broken launcher that can't be used for anything, i need help to finish my launcher but i can't find anyone to do it, theres few things left but still can't find anyone to do it
list of things left
portait and landscape settings menu for each mode each orientation would have it's own settings menu meaning it applies a different menu depending on orientation
customize categories menu (simply put a customize categories menu)
blur for colored layers
automatic app sorting (just like any other launcher that sorts apps automatically)
standard homescreen support widgets, app shortcuts etc (just like any other launcher)
pinch menu (just like any other launcher)
full appdrawer (simply use any full appdrawer)
general settings menu section (a standard general settings section where the reset button is etc)
paginated scrolling for dockmenu
size settings for all menus (no automatic sizes based on dpi)(launcher should not change ANY size based on dpi)
homescreen dock fixes (regular homescreen dock)

Last time , you said launcher is not ready for playstore .
and what i meant from making it open source was that you drop your apk in xda and ask for developers help and in meantime you will get enough beta testers for your launcher too.
Playstore should work too , its just people go there before they make their app stable and complete
Just giving free #advice
