Noob here and I believe I might have created a partition on my internal storage and not the sd card
I;ve restored to factory default and my settings show 5gb of available storage but I thought there was 8? I plug in my nc to my pc and I see two drives - nc one and the other is blank.
How can i get the extra 3gb back or is 5gb correct?
thanks

does anyone know if there is a way to use the internal storage on the nook color?I have CM7#18 loaded up and running with no issues.when i attach to the PC via USB I see the internal storage of 5gb and my 4GB SDcard. Is this protected space?I can't boot into the original OS, can I? Any responses will be great.
thanks
My phone displays that I only have 8GB total to store things on my sd card even though I have I have the 16GB card that came with it. It also displays 4GB internal for storage even though in settings it says 8GB. Any ideas what is wrong?
i to am having some isues but not the same as yours. when i mount my phone to my computer it will only mount the external sd card. cant seem to get the internal storage to mount. sometimes when i download an app is tells me not enough space when there is plenty of space.
with the messed up way motorola has partitioned the internl storage, it is causing alot of isues.
Well I know on my nook color (rooted and running cyanogen) when I try to mount the internal to the computer it doesn't work either so I'm not sure if the problem is the device or a limitation of Android.
Oh and I have had the not enough space message pop up when trying to download some apps I've found retrying the download or rebooting has helped.
I may be a bit thick but am a little confused about how the storage is shown on the NOTE
If I look in setting storage it says .......
Total storage 14,28 GB
Available space 10.34 GB
(where is this phone or card?)
Then.....
USB Storage
total 11.07 GB
Available 8.73 GB
(I have nothing in the USB port as far as I know - just a 16G SD card in)
Then.....
System Storage 1.59 GB
(assume this is on the phone itself?)
Also when I link the phone to the computer it only shows .... a phone .... a SD Card and that is all?
While I am on this linking to the computer cant find an option to "Unmount" the phone either on the computer or the phone - feel a bit worried just pulling the plug out? memory sticks like you to unmount them or you may lose data????? Dont want to wipe the phone?
If anyone, more expert than me, can help explain some of there things I would be grateful
Hope there is someone out there that understands storage on the NOTE
Thanks
Pete

USB storage is the internal storage space AKA 16gb but 2gb for system storage and 1for OS so you have 11gb. your micro sd should be the 14gb davon 10gb are free. on connect with a PC you should see a N7000 under devices (C:/, D:/) in it should have Card(micro SD) and Phone(internal storage).
just unplug the cable. If something happens then blame Zeus and the Olymp God's. ;-)

Connection to a pc is manual on Note. Unplug usb cable. Menu -> settings -> wireless -> usb. Tap connect with pc (or whatever the only choice is) then plug in usb cable. Next touch connect @ green android and then ok (if it pops up). Disconnect by tapping disconnect under orange android.

So let me get this staight
USB is not Universal Serial Bus -- but internal memory?
Then from the USB comes the 2G for the system and 1G for android?
So where has the 16G Micro-SD memory card on this list (paid good money for that!!! ) - can see it if I link the phone to computer but not on this list?
Is that what it calls total storage or does it TOTAL everything?
Thought android was easier than Microsoft's rubbish operating systems ??

Yes USB is your internal flash storage that comes with the Note, 2GB from them assigned to apps only, some for system files and the rest is for you..
The SD card I believe is what is showing as 14GB under total storage, and total here refers to total external sd card only not every storage you have
Total storage 14,28 GB
Available space 10.34 GB
This is the external microSD card you put in. If you use Myfiles you see this in external_SD folder.
USB Storage
total 11.07 GB
Available 8.73 GB
This is part of the 16GB storage comes with the phone. Your internal sd card. If you use a program like ES explore you see it in sdcard folder.
System Storage 1.59 GB
This is part of the 16GB storage comes with the phone. Your download apk is in this storage unless you move it to the internal SD using Manage Applications program come with the Notes. Not all program can be move to internal sd card.
Hello,
I hope, that someone is reading this.
First I had rooted my device flashed (restored) the custom ROM of denny.hell. It worked. A long time I didn't use the phone.
But today I wanted to use it and then I see the internal storage shows 4GB instead of 8GB when I'm going to TWRP.
But when I restart and go to settings, then storage, it shows 8 GB, but the storage is occupied with around 4GB with "others".
Can someone help me?
4GB is for internal space and 2,4GB for the system partition. The other 1,6GB i don't know for what is that used.
Hey guys,
have a very important question for me. Today I decided to test the adoptable storage and formatted the SD card as internal storage :crying:. After transferring the data to it, all the data was available, but when I decided to migrate it back to the phone's memory, I cannot read any files, although it's nominal size and EXIF data were kept. Help! I am asking for help, I would like to get the photos back. Please, it's very important to me
