Hi,
I am currently running Fear 13 ROM. It‘s ok but there's still a lot of lag and freezing.
Also it‘s missing all the LG widgets.
I am so tempted to go back to stock as I quite liked the stock LG setup.
So my quesion is what is the most stock like ROM with still some performance increases please?
Go with the MoDaCo custom ROM pre-bake Fr12 (12 is the most stable as of now). It's the most stocklike, but optimized ROM now

Hello,
I am currently running tayutama's Froyo version without any complaints other than that it's a little outdated and i would love to try a more recent rom with the accompanied recent developments in the kernel scene.
I'm looking for a reliable rom that will fit the YA-OK kernel afterwards.
It has to have all bloatware removed, but not as much as in the insanity rom.
Looking at the DOC rom i can't stand how many apps are in there, that is definately not the rom for me at the moment.
The rom has to support dutch swype and locale.
Does anyone have a suggestion what's the best rom for me to use from now on?
Thanks and greetings,
LentoViolentoMan
you can choose not to flash the medium and full packages for doc.. it's quite minimalist IMO

Thanks for replying both,

Yep that's the one i'm using, i've been looking at the steely mod and at doc's rom for now to put on my SGS. (didn't know there was a base Doc version, so, thanks)
When you are speaking of cyan, which rom is that?
There are also multiple versions of Doc's rom, which one is the best when you want to use dutch swype etc? Is it possible to install dutch locale and swype through a zipfile like i did with the current tayutama rom?

Hi,
My brother would like to use a custom rom. But he isn't technicsl at all, so i'm gonna help him with flashing. But i see too many custom roms available for the galaxy s.
Now i would like to know what custom rom you guys recommend us? I prefer a VERY stable rom which i can flash as one package using odin.
My brother currently is running on official froyo jpy.
Thx for your help ^^

for a very stable custom ROM i suggest you head over to www.romkitchen.org
make your own ROM to your own liking,
all you will need to do prior to this is get 2e / CWM recovery, either through flashing a kernel / CF-Root through ODIN, or apply:update.zip through recovery
EDIT: romkitchen seems to be under maintenance try http://romkitchen.org/m/ instead
Agree rom kitchen but not Gingerbread as its not ready yet .
Stable for me is .
XWJS8 rom with Hardcore kernel .
jje
I would suggest trying the insanity ROM. Very easy to install, quick, and stable.
Have to agree with JS8 + Hardcore kernel built by RomKitchen (see my sig).
I have tried almost every rom out there (including CM7, MIUI, JVB, etc) - they are all quite wonderful and each have their own pros and cons, but since I use my phone a lot (be it work or entertainment), I just need a ROM that has all the necessities (besides the obvious stability, performance, battery life etc) for me like Voodoo Sound, BLN, working 3D, working Navigation app and so on.
try juwi's rom..
it based om gingerbread 2.3.3 ..
perfect..

+1 soooo smooth and amazing battery
If you are just new and not too technical then docs kitchen is best because the instructions are easy to follow and its the simplest. also check simply honey, good, ready instal l and get you up and running well

Rom kitchen is the most stable Froyo ROM you can get. GB roms are currently unstable (including the stock GB rom as they've been recalled pending bugfixes)
darky's rom amazing

Darky's ROM & Juwe's ROM v4.1 are quite good.

+1, haven't run into any show stopping bugs yet.
I have also used GoaTrip v1.7 found it very good but issues were BT not working and many times found lag in the system.
Currently on Juwe's v4.1 not such issue's. Works really well and smooth.

I tried every single ROM available in the Development section. Decided to stick with the DOC's ROM. It is the most stable, flexible and versatile.
JS8 + Hardcore Kernel
It has all the necessities including standard features + call recording. Battery life is very good. Works with almost any themes and supports most of the add ons. No FCs. Before, i used to change ROMs everyday which took so much of my time. I think, JS8 is the most stable and efficient ROM at the moment. I would like to try GB, but it is still unstable and lacks many features that I need in my everyday life.
Thanks.
After a bit of help from azzledazzle I went for Darkys rom well fast and stable, being new to Sammy's I had a bit of trouble at first especially when I just come from HTC s .
These phones rock especially with a new rom & kernnel

Try Darky's ROM 9.5 if you want a highly stable, clean and fast Froyo 2.2.1 ROM.
However if you want a Gingerbread 2.3.3 based ROM then you should try Darky's Gingerbread Edition Release Candidate 5 Build 3 over here:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...darky-v10-rc5-3-captivate-users-welcome.2420/
Although I must warn you, you need to be more experienced and be able to solve your own problems if you are trying out the rc version of darkys rom if you overcome any, however many have reported it is highly stable and ready for daily use.
+1 for Juwe's ROM I think its wonderful but sadly it lacks good Hebrew support so I'm currently using PilotX which is also good.
You can always try this flashing guide.
Froyo i suggest darkys rom 9.5
Gingerbread i suggest simplyhoney 3.1.... the best roms... easy flashing steps...

I don't like fancy roms.
Simple, fast n stable vl do..

If you want simple fast and stable why go past stock with rooted kernel?

For what reason? If you want simple, snappy and stable stock with a good kernal beats a (Samsung based) "custom" rom. You can even add a theme of your choosing if you wish.
Or if you do want a custom ROM (a real custom ROM) go something AOSP based.

K bro..Vl try out stock rom with custom kernels..
M kind a new to custom roms on galaxy s so was jst curious about custom roms..
Try Jetpack Mod V6+
Hi, i was in that dilemma between customizing myself a stock rom or go for a custom rom that matched what i was looking for, i have tried cyanogen mod 7 (didnt like it), darkyrom with tw4 looked great but a had a lot of reboots (maybe because of the touchwiz 4).
Now i am using Jetpack Mod V6+, and its running fine, stable and very fast.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178026
But as everything it will depend on what are you looking for, so good luck
If you are looking for stability and battery performace try a KIES official stock ROM that it is in your contry. Do not try leaked ROMs such as JVP,JVR,JVS,JVT because they are beta.
Hi guys,
well i normaly hate those topics and just think ppl who are asking this just should try the different roms and find out for themselves which rom is the best, but in this case, my sister asked me to find a stable rom for her o2x.
I had the o2x for one month at the launch, had problems with the stock rom, and sold it to her. So the rom on her phone is a very early version from modaco.
How is the current state of o2x roms? Is the latest MIUI 1.12.23 stable for everyday use? Is CM7 good? Any other rom u suggest?
thank u very much!
If she is just regular user who just want the phone to just work, v20L stock gingerbread and kernel should work fine.
Look in my sig for my rom, very stable i don't get any random force closes or shut downs and works fine also has a custom kernel for overclock when i game if i so choose.
Iv never used MIUI so i cant compare but i can tell you the rom i use work great.
1. LG Stock rom v20l (Gingerbread V2.3.4) is pretty stable but slow and has still some hick ups - but it will mostly do...
2. Yes, MIUI is pretty stable.
3. Yes, latest CM7-KANGs are very stable.
I would say MIUI or CM7 - but this is a question of taste...
When your sister is used to a modified stock rom like modaco, I would assume it would be easier for to get used to CM7 than to the different UI-concept of MIUI.
Well as you can see in my sig – I prefer CM7…
...or you could use a new version of modaco rom - based on the newer Gingerbread LG stock roms!?!?
Thanks for your feedback guys! I`ve installed the latest rom from modaco and i`m very happy with its performance, much better then the old fr17 release!
Hi to all,
I want to try a custom gingerbread ROM on my new OB. My current stock ROM is Froyo v10d.
Any recommendations?
Zeus v1 by Huexxx or Redy2006 or Novav11 or other mods?
Thanks.
U can try Zeus or redy's rom. These are more stable than cm as of now. Nova 11 is a kernal for cm7 not mod.

I'm proud of you, you don't come here and ask for a time...
Yess there are different custom ROMs like Zeus ROM by huexxx, which mainly is a rooted stock rom, with some tweaks applied. Then there is Redy's repack of rooted stock v20n and some deodexed (google it, but not important for a beginner) versions of rooted, stock GingerBreak (GB), then there is CM7 in different versions (some cherry picks and customizations), then we got Nova ROM, which is a HIGHLY tweaked and optimized Froyo based OS, and stock GB and Froyo ROMs.
You can find em all by using the search (upper corner on the right side), or by going here and scroll down (use mouse) sarcasm btw

Redy's repack: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441901
Nova: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161015
Choose WHATEVER U like best! Everyone will suggest something else, since he/she prefers something else (speed, stability, battery performance, ...) Just flash em, try em and if you dont like it, try another one, noone can tell ya, what YOU like best...
Hope I could help you, if so there is a thnx button down there
Thanks for your reply.
I prefer battery on a ROM. I will give GB ROMs a try because GB they say has battery enhancement features the froyo.

Update: I updated my OB to Zeus v1 and this rocks. Very good battery compared to froyo.
Thanks guys.
i'm using xanadu rom based on redy's rom and i'm very happy. No bugs, no FC, good battery usage. I'm using it because I was searching for an original not touched LG rom, with root, but without LG stuff. Is refined lite version from 2º post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441901
I use Zeus V1 and its faster and clean (little lite) i recommend this one!!
