hello, i installed a rom(not found on xda forum but on an israeli forum) and it's based on 2.3.3 version.
the problome, as you assume, that i cant here the turning off\on sound(when the animation of the falshing 's' appers) and i cant here music on my fruit ninja game(not specificly to this rom but to any 2.3.3 rom).
does this problome have anything to the rom, can be fixed by falshing some file?
best regards,
roy.
One try a factory reset .
Two ask in the forum that supplied the firmware .
Three i recall a Hebrew thread on here dont know if you would be better posting in that .

The NO turning on and off sound is a highly requested feature!!!! Not a bug. Any decent kernel dev kills that sound off.
Why would you even want to have it?
And why are still ppl reporting it as a bug?!
And why didn't JJE know this?
to the fruit ninja, as I think I saw some thread about it too..
And why didn't JJE know this?
A misread his Englisj
B i is forgetting everything ready for SGS2
C i always put sound back in custom rom
D i is noob
jje
just thoght so... :S; it is anoying sound but it was really strange that it not playing when turning on\off the device.
and for the second problome: why cant i here music in my fruit ninja(there is a slashing sound but no music)? it's appere to be only on 2.2.3 rom, do you know of any fix for that?

Darky Q&A
It seems that a pinned Q&A for Darky is missing here.
I have been using Darky 8.1 and just recently decided to give 9.3 a try. One of the things I have liked about Darky is that that the version of 2.2.1 on it supports bluetooth voice dial. I have a BlueAnt S4 in my car, and although it does not voice dial 100% perfectly, it's still worth using. (the rest of the 2.2.1 roms I have tried that do not support bluetooth handsfree)
Okay, here is my question: on Darky 8.1, going to Settings - Display - Wallpaper -Lock screen wallpaper - Gallery ... would result in->
Sorry!
The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
[Force close]
I seem to remember the initial update to 9.0 (or 9.1) listed that this was fixed. I just got 9.3 running last night, and this still results in a force close. Does Darky have a forum to post this kind of thing, where the developers might see it?

Okay, Swype just expired.

Same problem here, also on Darky 9.3 extreme cappy. I've tried reflashing the captivate swype file, restoring a previous back up, and installing the newest beta. No dice on all 3 accounts.
This doesn't seem to be a problem with just Darky though, and poking around the site it doesn't look like it is exclusive to the Captivate either.
Darky's 9.3 phone not receiving calls
Once again I would have posted in Darky thread in android development if I could..
Ever since I have installed Darky's my phone has had problems receiving calls and will often say "simcard removed from phone please reboot". Today I got a new simcard because I thought that may be the problem but I tested and it still doesn't work. My friend rung me and as the call comes through my phone loses service and the call gets cut instantly and slightly later it'll pop up saying simcard removed please reboot phone. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe it's time to go to Cyanogen Mod..
Did you ever restore data with Titanium Backup after you installed Darky's?
Yup I restored everything that was on my old rom Cognition
That's your problem. I used to have the same problem. Your phone settings is different between the two ROMs. You should typically ONLY restore app data. Not the system data.
Try going into back into TiBu, then find 'Phone' and click on 'Wipe data'. Hopefully that'll make your calls work again. If not, you might need to reflash Darky's.
System data backups really don't work well between different ROMs (and even different versions of the same ROM).
P.S. Nice to meet another NZer btw.
Oh I see, yeah that makes sense, I asked a friend if I should restore everything I backed up and he wasn't sure so I just restored them all anyway. Now I'm not sure if I should reflash Darky's or move to Cyanogen Mod.
I would try the 'Wipe data' thing first before I try any flashing though!
Upgrade from 9.2 to 9.3 help
In the dev thread, it says you should flash a captivate kernal and modem before installing 9.3. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a guide to flashing modems/kernals.
Just kinda worried cause I have read so much about people bricking their phones when putting the wrong kernal/modem combo together. I noticed on the Darky app it has options already there, so do I have to downlad the kernal seperately, or did it come with the app, or does the app download it from somewhere?
I am afraid that if I flash the modem first, then reboot it won't match the kernal and I will get stuck.
Thanks!

You can flash a Modem in Recovery just like you Flash a ROM or Kernel. If you happen to Flash a wrong Modem it won't cause any problems other than you won't get Cell Service. I am presently using the New znkp1 modem and it doing Great on my Cappy with 9.3 Darky and SuckerPunch/Voodoo Kernel.

Just letting you know that in the Darky Rom Configurator App, if u enable LockScreen Wallpaper, it would use Samsung Gallery which has a battery draining bug. Hence it is an option in the Darky app before flashing.
If you really want to use it, enable it and then flash. Or I'll just work on disabling that menu option.

Don't know if I'm too late on this but...the modem/kernel combo included has been working good for me; no need to change it. Like rickysa2000 said, don't select a modem/kernel using Darky's Configurator when you flash 9.3.
My only SMALL issue has been when going into APPS and sometimes they won't scroll for maybe two/three seconds.
But it's still my favorite ROM so far (though it's only my fourth). Especially impressed with the dev's attitude and willingness to help!!!
[ROM] Darkyy's 10.0 Gingerbread!
I was just in the i9000 forum and Darkyy said he will have a flashable rom on friday!!! I hope we can get this ported for the Cappy.
Edit: looks like beta 3 is already available for the i9000. Got so excited I impulse posted...

i do not think the port will be coming anytime soon. Without source you can not have a captivate kernel. You can flash i9000 but no back button, and screen rotation, head phone jack, etc

Yeah, i'm currently on Darky's v9.5 rom and i experience this problem as well. Video files and music files doesn't play after a period of phone usage, giving the error of "The player don't support this type of file." For me, the way of fixing this is to reboot my phone. Is there any way to solve this problem without having the need to reboot my phone? Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue using seearms' ROM.
I'll try to reflash.
I have the same problem with the standard Samsung ROM so it's not right to bash custom rom developers.
Apparently it's due to the task killer killing off parts of the system that are needed by the music player.
I'm looking for a fix for this at the moment
Short answer is true answer search the forum littered with similar posts and no help given by the dev to all these poor users with busted phones .

also my device does not want to move apps to USB storage, and is being hot when i use it for a long time "like playing games"
ThAnk you guys, always you are the best in all
trust me bro the ICS that not from sammy it's more stable than sammy rom

Only certain apps can be moved to SD. Most apps cannot be. It's up to the developer.
All computers get hot when you run heavy programs on them.
No idea about the shut down problem unfortunately. Typically a factory reset should fix the problem, but that's rather drastic. When did this problem start? Did you install something before it all began?

I am on 1.9.6 tiramisu rom. Clean install and almost everything works just fine but.... when I am in a conversation and get another call, after I close the current talk and answer(still ringing) the second incoming call , I don't hear the other person but they hear me. It is a problem of CNA porting or .. ? What can I do beside the obvious to not answer the waiting call ?
PS.. I cant post on developer thread (under 10 posts) and if there is an answer already given please give me the link but I didnt founded something by searching the forum
I'm not quite sure about that ROM but if thats a feature you want do you know about ICS?
It must be a result off bad installation, i was on cna and didn't faced that issue.
Try reinstalling or move to another rom.

After other try with clean install and factory reset (I think my phone needs one) if the problem remains... I will try another rom (CM9 most likely) or revert to 2.3.6

My mum has a Samsung Galaxy Ace and she is complaining about quick battery draining and low space. I figured the best thing would be is too update it from 2.3.3 too 2.3.6.
The problem is that Kies is saying that 2.3.3 is already the newest one, so I decided I will go on the internet and look for some official 2.3.6 ROMs. I found many, and the problem is that I don't know which to install not to mess anything up.
I found many people saying that they are stuck in boot loops and their phones lag even more because of the update. The question is: Which ROM shall I use? Right now my mum has 2.3.3 XWPKY and I want to update to one of the 2.3.6 ones.
I found many:
DDKQ8 (oldest one, boot loops apparently)
XWKTM (value pack, newest)
XWKPY (in the middle) which apparently is 2.3.6.... (people are saying it's actually 2.3.3).
Anyway, guys, which ROM do you use, if you have a official one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Here it is where you'll get all official firmwares http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
Select your country if you want, KTM is an official firmware from Spain (android 2.3.6.) but don't matter if you flash a firmware from another site but you'll need to change maybe the modem after flash an Indian Firmware, so try to flash an European Firmware to avoid this kind of stuffs
I recommend you the Spanish KTM... Good battery duration and it's perfect as base.

well, the best way >>> delete all your useless apps (I don't use gapps e.g.), which are consuming your ram (or are running in background), reduce the brightness, use low frequencies, disable sync, delete default browser and use a light one... you can try Stocklite rom (stable without bugs and all performance from stock rom)
If you are using a custom based stock rom, don't use setcpu/similar apps to set your CPU frequencies, check my signature thread , to set frequencies when android boot without to use memory space and ram consumption
