Hi guys,
i have a question about applying a custom theme within a custom rom. Let's say i cooked a rom with the 1.6 kitchen and let it all default, just a minimalized rom.
Now when i cook a theme with the UOT kitchen and flash it through recovery, all goes well.
But i don't want to flash it after flashing the rom. I want to implement it in to the rom, so just one flash to get my phone look nice.
When i put the framework-res.apk in my extracted rom folder in /system/framework i only get bootloops after flashing.
any ideas ?
normally that should work with no problems ...
i used to do that with my themes for samsung galaxy spica, always worked well
just exchange framework-res.apk in your rom with your themed one ...
but i haven´t tried on optimus 2x yet ...

you have to exchange update-binary from uot kitchen with this one :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14551460/update-binary
then flashing works

Had too many questions so I posted them all here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044871
check the thread where the theme was downloaded.
there are a million issues when applying themes to darkys ROMs. i have experienced this many times.
the problem is the ROM takes up to much space under /system / data ( i think ) and you have to remove certain things from that folder in order for the theme to successfully apply itself.
Some work 1st time, some dont work at all.
Thanks for the reply.
Is that so? What would be the best ROM for applying themes if that's the case? All I read and hear is Darky's ROM this Darky's ROM that so I went for that instead.
I think I found the problem - I didn't have CWM installed... We'll see how it goes.
Oh right, well now you have CWM try again and see how it goes.
if you wanna change ROM i suggest making your own at www.romkitchen.org << fantastic place for customising ROMs to your own liking.
i failed again, i don't know what im doing wrong! hahaha.
i made a new thread cause i had too many questions.
All you hear is darky rom this darky rom that is not from this forum . Its just one of many .Read the posts in development section for a flavour of roms .
Bit like saying we all know MacDonald's therefore its the best food in the world .
jje
haha you have made a new thread and no body has replied.
you would of been better off sticking to this one.
I've had to reinstall 2.3.3 using ODIN four times now... What do you two suggest I do when it comes to choosing roms? I'm sick of having to reinstall every time I get the bootloop cause the installation of a theme went wrong.
2 options man..
Stop flashing the theme, or try another rom.
Easy as that
I don't try the same theme every single time, there's only one theme I've been able to flash and it was ugly as shet.
Any rom recommendations?
Is your current ROM 'De-odexed' Meaning, is your ROM a custom ROM or a stock ROM
I believe it may be de-odexed - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
Darky's rom v10 RC4
yea it will be de-odexed.
try another ROM.
www.romkitchen.org
I've decided to reinstall Darky's ROM. I just read somewhere that it may be in the bootloop cause of the bootanimation.zip or something and that if I delete that it'll get out of the bootloop? I got out of the thread, I forget where it is
/system / media bootanimation.zip

A title more explanatory than "help help help" would actually be more informative and help others look for the exact problem.
That said, you will need to pull your framework-res through adb.. make all the modifications you earlier made and push it back .. here is a thread i wrote some time back about doing this .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927405 .. I think there are better and easier methods available. You will just need to search around if you find this too hard
Hey
Is there a way to get it done like in CM7? Can't seem to find the option to do that... is the only way to cwm flash the icon file?

Well, I'm using a stock ROM, with CF customer kernel with CWM, and then cooked my own stuff with the UOT kitchen, with nice icons (battery included) and stuff like that. You can always try that if you have a full nandroid backup!
Do you have extracted files which need to be uploaded in UOT Kitchen. I used create my own as well but using an option to choose from list of ROMs there. Now there is no option to pick Samsung KKA ROM. Or have I missed anything? Thanks
Hello,
I had some SOD with zeus 4.02 so I installed Kernel_4.4.3_eabi but now it's worst, so how can I return to Zeus's kernel.
Should I install v4.02b_int or v4.02b_int_up ?
Do I need wipe ?
Thanks, and sorry for my english
PS: the Nova's kernel V11 look great does it compatible or better ?
The problem is, if you install v4.02b_int, you will automatically get a FULL wipe!
And the other one, just applies this here:
v4.02:
- Added the possibility to select ascending/constant ringtone through zeus script (big thanks to TugaSoulHunter)
So either you grab the full ROM, take the boot.img out, modify the updater-script and flash it, or you simply install the ROM again, or even better will be, to install one of Huexxx new test ROMs, since those seem to be bugfree
Ok full wipe
Ok so I make a full wipe in each case
Thank you
Install stock kernel (its under eabi) and wait couple of days for new Zeus.

My uncle once told me: NEVER touch a running system.
So in other words, as long as you dont have problems with your device, why would you wanna change ANYTHING? for the kick of flashing new stuff?
v5 is a new version, Huexxx started to cook from scratch again. Idk on which version it is built, but you had to do a full-wipe again, in order to install it. Is that worth it to you? Especially, you wont even know, if the new kernel is ANY better than the one you are using right now... It' s up to you mate, but I wouldnt change a thing
And for extrcting the kernel of a ROM, you ll need dsixda's Android Kitchen and quite a lot of knowledge, but you can do it, cause there are a lot of guides out there, how to do it Then you need to figure out, how to install a new kernel. Therefore grab a Kernel from the first post, extract it, look at the commands in updater-script, refine them for your kernel, repack everything, sign it and flash it to your phone. That's how easy it is
Oh I think you can also simply take the boot.img, replace the one in Huexxx first post with the updated one (from V5 or 5.1), sign the .zip file and flash it. Even easier
AND DONT BLAME ME FOR SCREWING YOUR PHONE!!! It's not my problem, if you dont know what you are doing/what you have to do
Hi,
I've tried several custom roms, while they are much faster than stock rom and i do find faults in them so always go back to stock rom.
However I want to deodex my stock rooted rom. the reason for this is that i need this patch for arabic on my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424144
can someone help me to do this, all other threads are for other phones, is the method the same? and are the requirements also the same?
finally, if there is a way to get arabic full and not broken up like what i currently have, can some help with that instead, because that is what I really need.
cheers and thanks in advance.

You have 2 options mate:
1. Easy way:
- Download a stock, deodexed and prerooted ROM from [ROM] Stock ...LA4,LA6,LB1 ROM[Stock Deodexed & Tweaked Version]
- Go to that patch thread you posted and get the patch for the ROM you downloaded
- Flash and profit
2. Hard way:
- Go to [GUIDE] dsixda's Android Kitchen - Now with SGS2 support (Windows/Linux/Mac) and get the kitchen up and running in your machine
- Deodex your ROM by yourself
- Get the Arabic patch
- Flash and profit
EDIT: You actually have another option if all you're looking for is only Arabic support:
- Got to [STOCK ROMS] N7000 All stock ROMs + install + Root guide All at 1 place,Latest XXLC2
- Download the ROMs with the region code of JPXX (where XX is e.g. LA)
- Flash and profit
However, you may want to get the directly rootable ROMs to gain root and CWM recovery after flashing but never mind this if you don't care about root

Well I've been using smali and backsmali for a long time but that's not for everyone and dsixda's kitchen is a great way to start learning about cooking ROMs
thanks mate, you've been a great help, i might as-well use the easy way. but first may give the hard way a shot, I want to learn about all this stuff, coming from the n900 its all interesting.

Yeah But I bet we can never learn by using scripts though the scripts are great .Ok no off topics anymore.
as most of us now have knowledge that the ics official rom is out but only the german one, is there a stock rom which is pre rooted and pre deodexed? just like what's available for the GB rom through here.
