My Zio is making a quiet ringing sound - Kyocera Zio M6000

Ok So my phone has done this a couple of times. Basically what is happening is randomly my phone is making a standard ringing sound of 3 or 4 beeps (or so) a pause then the beeps again. This is completely different from the standard sounds i have set on my phone and when this ringing is happening i am not receiving a call nor am i receiving a text message. so far it just happens randomly and even when i put my phone into sleep mode it still rings requiring me to take the battery out to make it stop.
Has this happened to anyone before? what dose it mean exactly?

Happened to me until a factory reset. Came back though after reinstalling my apps. You can stop it by making a call. It is a little easier than removing the battery. Still annoying though. I think it could have started after an app was moved to the SD card, so I batch moved everything to the internal storage except for some games. Has not happened for a couple days, but I would not be surprised if it came back. I wish I knew what caused this.

Sprint ZIO or Cricket ZIO?
Sent from my Zio using XDA App

Happened with me, too, on the Cricket Zio. Still searching for a solution. Doesn't seem to be a Zio specific problem, though. I read somewhere that it was happening on the Motorola Droid as well.

Quite ringing sound
This happens on the Cricket zio as well. It normally happens when you are in a low signal area for any extended period of time. Normally rebooting or making a phone call will stop it. As to why it is happening I have no idea however I do recall this was a problem on one of the old kyocera slider phone I had in the past.

Is there any point in digging into this? It's beginning to happen to me a lot (as my coverage at home sucks despite living in downtown Charlotte).
Every problem has a solution but I'm wondering if the new OC'ed kernel will eliminate it.

One can only hope.

Can we stay on task here and stop with the petty squabbling. Nobody cares how anybody reads the forums but being a smart-a$$ about it will ultimately result in this sort of argument.
Fact is, that we're trying to address an issue here. And to that point, my phone is still making the ringing noise, even with the new OpenZIO ROM. How can that be?
My guess is that the ringing noise is tied up somewhere not on the typical hard-drive of the phone. Kinda like a beeping mechanism on a computer motherboard. And since somebody reported that it happened on an older Kyocera phone, that only furthers my theory in this.
Evidently, it seems to be triggered in poor reception.

This much I know is 100% correct. The first time it happened to me and my wife we were traveling to the beach and this happened while we were in "Dead Zones" and now it happens to me on a daily basis on my commute to and from work. I drive through a lot of "Dead Zones".

A lot of dead zones in the Charlotte area? Where are you commuting to and from?

I have also had this issue a couple of times while running rooted 2.2.
I too was in a poor signal zone. An interesting fact is that when I would adjust the volume while it was making the funny sound, it would say that it was adjusting call volume not ringer volume. It was a while ago since it happened last, but I'm also pretty sure the sound comes from the ear speaker and not the louder back speaker, which is why the sound is so soft.

I'm having the same issue!
I'm having a hard time isolating what application could be causing this. It probably doesn't help that I'm EXTREMELY new to this forum.

also having this issue
this happens to me also in a low signal area.. it happens at 5am and again at 9pm. i'm home way before 9pm so i don't know what the signifigance of that may be?

You have all been hax0rd!!! Mwuaaahahahaa!!!
Just kidding.
I have never had this issue before. You could try installing my ROM to see if that fixes the issue?f
**edit: just read upwards -- appears that someone has already tried installing the ROM.
This leads me to believe that it could be a hardware issue.
Perhaps you can take it in for an exchange?

ROM won't fix it. I was having the issue on stock 2.12 as well. It did not start till the update so has to be a bug in the OS.

Take your phone back to cricket for an exchange (provided you can reproduce the sound to a rep).
Be sure to flash a stock rom to ur phone or they wont touch you.

Echo / Feedback in call...

Hey, I'm on my 2nd Hero, and this is starting to annoy the hell out of me! Almost every call I have, I can hear my voice a second or two later through the phone. It's like I'm too close to someone while using walkie-talkies. It's highly annoying.
I work in a fast pace job where I need my phone to coordianate people and fast, so when I call them, And I say something, they answer, but I also hear what I just said repeated to me and over them, so It's annoying! Is there any way to fix this? Is this even an issue for anyone but me? Like I said, this is my 2nd Hero, and the 1st did the same thing, so I'm hoping it's not me, and the phone can stop doing it. Thanks for the help.
BTW: Sprint Hero, 2.1 stock HTC rom, running OC Kernel (forgot which one).
I'd like to know this as well because darchs last rom did that for me too? Hmm hardware?

I think so, or a core software component, because I'm on a stock ROM...
just got off the phone, and it did it, not as bad as last night, but still pretty annoying.
is this a known issue?
I've had that happen to me on other phones, but never this one. I always thought it was a signal problem or something, not really the phone
That can happen when your/their phone is tapped.

Phone calls by itself!

Hi,
Today something very weird happened.
Around 10:17 my phone called a friend of mine by itself.
I was using the phone, browsing XDA using the XDA Premium App, and nothing else, maybe some background processes was running, but i have only installed programs i know and trust from Android Marketplace.
I'm running MCR Fr12 with the OC / UC kernel.
The call isn't showed in the Call-list, or anywhere else regarding the calls.
The only reason i got to know this, was that the person who got called was sitting in class with me, and told me afterwards.
What may have been the cause to this, and am i the only one experiencing this kind of weird behavior?
have you taken into consideration that your friend might have pulled a small trick on you ? if its not in the call logs, im pretty sure it didnt happen, or you got a serious problem.
I am really sure he didn't.
Checked it myself, but on the other hand, he might.
Don't know actually.
Anybody else experiencing the same issue?
What did the phone say to him?
Hopefully it was something nice or you have to give your phone a good spanking..

Has anyone figured out the reboot problems?

I thought that by rooting and putting a new ROM on my phone that it'd help out my problems of it rebooting randomly and having a non responsive internet 50% of the time but it hasn't. Anyone else having these problems with their Thrills? About to go back to the iPhone even though i really don't want to
I have occasional reboots, but not often. I know mine is more tinkering with my kernel.
i only had mine reboot once only cuz i killed gta3 the rong way and it crashed
yeah mine does it any time that it has to think about something... i go to post something on facebook and about half the time it freezes and then reboots. I think i've pulled the battery out a couple dozen times this last week because of it just stopping on me

There is no wrong way to close an App/Game.
It's the developer of the app that causes the problem.
ok now i'm finally getting it to where it's saying different apps (mostly clockworkmod) are failing and to either force close or cancel...
Well I jumped out of gta3 with the home button and tryed to go in app manager to close it and probly ran out of ram and crashed instead of backing out of gta3 with the game menu

I just wish Android OS suspended everything when you push the home button and had push notifications instead of persistent checking. All this background running is killing our batteries and causing lockups.

True multitasking has been built into Android (similar to Linux, which it is based) from day one. Here to say it, but that would be a longshot. Best bet would be to become more scrupulous on what apps you download and more critical of the makers when their programs go rogue. Plus turning background data off in settings can help. Fyi.
Note: I don't want you to feel as if I'm being overly critical or a douche here, just realistic with what we have and what we are dealing with.

I hear ya, I know its wishful thinking. I just wish android was as efficient as iOS. Android having Backgrounding from the start was a big perk, but I gotta hand to apple for seeing how inefficient it was and hold off until they found a better solution. Android needs to grab the bull by the horns and convert to that solution.

Background data allows you to receive emails and your apps to update periodically while your not using your phone. This is the basis of 99% of your notifications. It's kinda the point of having a smart phone in the first place.

Microphone not activated for 1-2 seconds after answering a call?

Has anyone experienced this problem on the RAZR i (but possibly not realised it or thought it was just occasional) with regards to people phoning you, you saying hello and them clearly not hearing you as they don't respond. Only when you say 'hello' again is it quite clear they didn't hear anything at first as they don't act surprised or confused.
It must be 1-2 seconds or so at most, but it's quite annoying and seems to be happening every time I answer. This makes me suspect it's the phone, not the network (Orange/EE if anyone cares).
I thought it might just be the person at the other end not listening, but I've since asked people who didn't respond if they heard my first hello and they say no - so it's as if the mic isn't activated straight away.
Before I report it as a bug to Motorola, I really want to know if anyone else has suffered the same problem?

I have exactly the same problem, but on my 2 years old Desire, and I've only had it since I installed the latest version of a custom ROM, so there is a very big possibility, that it's just a software bug. But I agree, it gets annoying as hell, so it would be great for as many people with this problem to let Motorola know about it, so they fix it as soon as possible.
Can't wait to get my hands on this beauty, by the way!

2 Nexus 4 Issues That Need to Be Addressed

After using the Nexus 4 for 24 hours, I have found I have two gripes with this phone. The first is there is no audible alert if you receive a text message while on a call. In other words, if someone sends you a text message while you are on a call, you will not be made aware of it until you turn on the screen and look at it. The other gripe I have is the call waiting beep is almost completely inaudible, and the second beep sometimes doesn't even occur. In other words, if you are on a phone call, and a second call comes in, you most likely will not know about it and thus will not be know to answer the call. Today I have missed several phone calls because I was on the phone and a call waiting beep could not be heard. As an experiment, I got on a call and then called my phone from a third phone just to hear the volume of the call waiting beep...it is so low it may as well not be there. To make matters worse, after the first beep, the second beep takes so long to occur, your voicemail may likely pick it up either right before or right after the second beep occurs.
Software, not nexus 4 issue. I'm sure there's an app or will be implemented into ROM to solve your problem.

The software comes stock on the Nexus 4 thus it is a Nexus 4 issue. Not being alerted to a second call isn't something that can be easily excused with, "there's an app or will be implemented into a ROM". A person shouldn't need to install apps or hack their phone just so they can know when a second call is coming in...after all it's a smartPHONE..

Maybe not being alerted of calls isn't a big deal to you, but there are some of us that get important calls throughout the day, and not being alerted to them is not acceptable. Call me old-fashioned but I expect a phone to actually be able to handle phone duties, and alerting me to a second call is one of those duties. That's a pretty basic expectation, and a glaring flaw that needs to be corrected.

It's clear I like the phone? I haven't stated how I feel about the phone besides the two issues I have with it. Also, for your information, complaining is how issues get resolved because it brings it more attention. Some of us aren't content with resting on our laurels and accepting the subpar. Furthermore, 3rd party software should not be required just to get simple basic functionality. Instead of excusing shortcomings, you should be demanding a complete device. Also, to be clear, I want to like the phone and want to see it succeed. I have a vested interest in it (which I won't get into publicly), so it actually benefits me for it to be a good phone and do well. That said, if it's falling short somewhere then it needs to be corrected and not just covered up.

It's set to have both an audible alert and vibrate on incoming messages. The problem is, during a phone call, neither of these things happens. There literally is no alert during a phone call other than the icon on the screen. In other words, if you don't happen to be looking at your screen, you will never know you have a text message if you are on a phone call.

First of all, it's not a Nexus 4 issue, it's a 4.2 issue.
Second of all, I doubt Google would remove a feature they have had since...idk 2.2(the first version of Android I had). Try a restore, or mess with the settings...or maybe you're holding it wrong.
