Backup:
go to contacts then go to more options>import/export contacts>Export to SD card.
Restore:
go to contacts then go to more options>import/export contacts>Import from SD card.
But i faced one issue with this method i exported all my contacts to SD card and later i imported all the contacts from SD card again.. but in all the contacts + symbol was missing.. normally i used to save the number in this format (+91-123456789) "+91" is my country code..
After importing all the contacts form SD card the '+' sign was missing(i.e.91123456789). When i tried to call it is dialing with the number 91123456789 and saying plz check the number.
so try to back up only one contact and restore it again and check hw it is??
Thanks mat..
but as mentioned above I checked I dont have option of export only import and when I click on it,. its came with pop up. "No SNS Site search"
Even on the on more option I can only see,.1)View Form, 2) Delete Contacts,3)Hide Picture, 4)Information..
waiting for suggestions..,
Surf the Market, there are lots of free Backup Applications out there!
use LG PC Suite...
works gr8 for me.

What ROM you are using??
Mine is Official 2.1 ROM
O.K. I really need help, I will appreciate it.
Last night I decided to install CM7 on my LG Optimus 2X (p990h). I followed this guide http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/LG_Optimus_2X:_Full_Update_Guide ; including backing up the LG Rom before installing CM7. CM7 Installed.
Now, my problems are:
1- Can't add speeddails. This is huge for me. I drive a lot and I NEED speeddials from the dialer directly. The LG Dialer was already limited to 9 speeddials.
2- This is even a bigger issue for me... CALENDAR SYNC. I was using either myphoneexplorer or LG PC Suite (both worked, the former better) to do local sync of Outlook Contacts and calendar to the device. After installing CM7. LG PC Suite won't work (of course..!) , and myphoneexplorer syncs contacts properly, but for calendar, it seems it is syncing it, but nothing shows up in the device calendar. I tried androidsync, localsync, .... etc ... Nothing seems to work. I am not willing to pay mycompanion link a penny. And. No, I don't want sync with the cloud ... ONLY LOCAL USB OR WIFI or bluetooth sync..
3- So, I tried to restore the LG Rom I backed up, using clockworkmod , immediately it said MD5 mismatch, so I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714114&highlight=md5 and this http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...missing-md5-file-backup-not-able-restore.html . Now it would look like it is sarting recovery , but would say " verifying sd card marker" then "sd card marker not found" ... What to do now ... ? .
I would rather stick with CM7 as it is much faster and less buggy , but I HAVE to fix the calendar issue .....
Did you convert the FS back to ext3 before doing restore?
errrr... what is the FS ? I guess u mean file system ... But I thought clockworkmod backs things up in the same FS or format it is gonna use it to restore ....
cm is ext 3 so no need for conversions.
My advice to the op is to abandon outlook and start working with the "cloud" aka google calendar contacts etc.
Its a lot more fast, easy to use, less interaction needed generaly you only got plus's.
If its so important to you you can always try a commercial solution as http://www.android-sync.com or http://www.companionlink.com/google/outlook/?pim=OL&hh=ANDROID
About speedials. Have you tryed a widget? For instance https://market.android.com/details?id=com.contapps.android&feature=search_result is a very good contacts replacement with a one clik dial widget

Not any more, it's moved to EXT4, although due to the kernel.org issues, only kangs have it for now.
how to change default calendar
All I am looking for now is how to change default calendar from google to something else like jorte. In the stock rom you the "LG PC SUITE Calender" option under calendar>>>More>>> Calendars . At this area LG PC SUITE CALENDAR is normally listed , and you can then make google calendar not synced and not visible. But in CM7 , whatever calendar I install doesn't show under that list .. Any idea ????
ok i install slim ics on my i9000 ..everything work fine but i m unable to see the option to show only sim contacts ..as i import contacts from simcard now i have 640 contacts and most of them r duplicate .. any help how to merge them or show only sim contacts
Same problem here.
I get all contacts mixed up.
I would like to see only contacts from Google account and hide the ones from SIM card.
This was possible in Gingerbread. Is here also this option?
not only slim ics....
Hello,
i've the same problem too. it's not only limited to slim ics.
In my case the problems are on several ics-roms
In about the last 2 month i tried the following ics roms:
-dark knight 5.5
-slim ics 3.4, 3.5 an finally 3.8
-last but not least twics 3.01
Every rom has still this bug.
I can't find an option to show/hide SIM-Contacts in the phonebook-settings menu. Besides there is no option to store them local on the phone. I can only choose my Google-Acc.
Any ideas?
Update:
Just checked out teamnyx (ICSSGS) RC5 rom and the problem is still there .
It seems to be a problem with cm9-based custom roms....
androidforums.com/android-lounge/540851-no-phone-contacts-contacts-display-ics.html
And of course i made a full wipe between every rom change.
hi,
yes, the option to view Sim Contacts is removed. However, u may still see ur contacts on ur sim card by downloading "Sim Contacts" from the play store.
following which, u can import the sim contacts to ur phone which will be backed up to your google account.
hit thanks if this helps
Just use Google Contacts,it's free and very useful.

Seems its a bug atm. However, if anyone messages you even though you appear offline, you will get the message. Same with calls.
Hey guys. Have a problem with Skype. Recent update makes Skype only to Microsoft Account Sign in but I`m using different Skype accounts and don`t wanna merge them. So Is there any way to sideload old version of Skype? Found 2.13.0.290 but can`t sideload it. Application Deployment says "XAP file is invalid." and WPV XAP Deployer 2.0.0 says "Cannot read that as ZipFile". Same with current version available in store.
I have Lumia 620 with Black update and free unlock (2 apps I think).

You can't sideload XAPs from the store. Just connect one of your Skype accounts to a Microsoft account and problem solved...
You guys sideloading YouTube, right? Because there was good app. I need to use an older version of Skype whose allows me to login with my Skype creditenals instead of Microsoft one. I have found and tried "unlocked" Skype xaps with versions of 0.2.0.0, 1.0.0.0, 1.1.0.0. The most older version closes immidately after start and newer ones crashing when the cyan background appears. IM+ allows me to login with Skype but I can`t make voice calls through it.
So I need any version of Skype from 2.15.0.154 and lower that works with Lumia Black/GDR3 update. Maybe @AlvinPhilemon can help... And for sure I need non-interop version.
My point was that XAPs from the store are encrypted and thus can't be sideloaded, as you can only sideload plain unencrypted XAPs. How AlvinPhilemon obtained the unencrypted YouTube XAP is beyond me, but AFAIK the store encryption hasn't been broken yet, which leaves only the possibility of using either the XAP after it was installed (because they get decrypted after download) or taking the pre-installed one from the ROM (because those are also unencrypted).
Why is signing in with a Microsoft account such a problem for you in the first place? You need it to use most of the phone anyway, and as you've already experienced, older versions tend to have problems, so you will hardly get anything to work. And even if you do, there's always a possibility that Skype login still won't work in case MS changed something on their side.
Sadly I have no success with that
When I`m tricking a response with Fiddler, there is a c00cee3b error. I also tried to replace updated xap file on my SD card to outdated when install button is available on the SD card menu into marketplace. There is a constanly error during setup after 3/4 of the installing bar.
On interop-unlocked phones, it is possible (with some hacks) to extract the files for an app and re-build the .XAP archive. That's how the older YouTube version was resurrected.

I know. But there is also a problem with Skype xaps. Versions 0.2.0.0, 1.0.0.0 and 1.1.0.0 that I found unlocked are not working. v0.2.0.0 crashes immidately and newer ones shows cyan background before crash. There is also version 1.3.0.0 that have ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES string. Actual version 2.0.16.266 was "cracked" too and it also has that string.
I can`t install 1.3.0.0 and 2.0.16.266 versions on my Lumia 620 due to INTEROPSERVICES restriction and I can install 1.3.0.0 when ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES string is removed but it fails to work. It also crashing after the cyan background appears. 2.0.16.266 still gave an error after no ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES string but there is no reason for sideloading it - it`s available on the Marketplace and lacks of Skype account signing in support (people report that they still using their Skype account if they has been logged in in previous versions).
Give me old version of skype xap file. I'll do decrypt it.

Tried I way that @djamol send me in my PM (yes, I still hope to get an old xap working on my phone!)
If you can successful install a skype without Interop Capability, then you succeed !!!
Just follow my steps to add Interop capability again.
Move skype on the SD Card.
Remove SD Card from the phone.
Insert SD Card on PC through card reader.
Now go to an Installation directory of skype in WPSystem\Apps\{***}\Install
Delete the DRM Encrypted WMAppManifest.xml file.
Now put your decrypted.xml which is an enabled Interop Capability.

I was little skeptical because of WMAppManifest.xml file. An idea to replace it and get some good things was discussed long ago with FAIL.
But anyway I did tried his method. I had successfully replaced that file but just didn't get needed result. App still crashes after the blue background appears for a second or less. Then I tried to move an app back to internal memory and then weird thing happened. Looks like it was failed to transfer my app back with modded file and an operation stuck somewhere between. Skype has disappeared both from Internal and SD card apps list of the Data/Storage Control ("Контроль памяти" in Russian) and it`s icon on the regular app list (one with all apps listed, opens by start screen swipe) turns into grey with no logo on it. When I tried to start it there is loading... ("Загрузка..." in Russian) sign with dot animation appears. I has leaved it in that state for the whole night but nothing happens and the phone was even half-charged after it.
Finally I have found new xap "for Lumia 610" which is WP7 xap and successfully sideloaded it but it crashes after the blue background like the all I tried before. FAIL
you just cant replace files and hope for the best.
sometimes you can trick apps with changed icons but not with complete xml codepages.
WMAppManifest.xml is used at installation of the application, but not to start the application.
Dear friends,
I have updated the rom from the stock Gingerbread to stock Jelly Bean (4.2.1) and later on to cyanogenmod 11 (4.4.4).
Everything works ok with Kitkat, but I can not read anymore the SIM contacts, nor read SMS stored in the SIM. I've read many posts on the forum. Tried the following solutions, but none worked:
Yess, all SIM contacts were created within an Android OS (old Gingerbread stock ROM, same phone), not with Blackberry or other manufacturers.
Open Phone app, settings/Import/export/import from SIM card: It says "no contacts"
Same procedure as before but activating/deactivating the flight mode and try again: same error "no contacts"
Installed the app "Sim contacts". Also not working: "cannot load any contacts"
Flashed several roms, AOSP 4.4.4, ParanoidAndroid 4.4.4, Carbon ROM 4.4.4, CM10, CM10.1, etc same issue.
Flashed again stock ROM JB 4.1.2, extracted with ESExplorer the files: SecContacts.apk/odex, SecContactsProvider.apk/odex, SecPhone.apk/odex.
Later dexoded with the tool "Universal Deodexer v5". Installed again CM4.4.4, and pasted the new generated apk's to /system/app/. Rebooted and nothing happened.
Note 1: With stock ROM JellyBean (4.1.2) I can read the SIM contacts list. I can NOT with CM10 (4.1.2) or any other ROM based on KK.4.4.4
Note 2: With CM or other ROM (4.4.4) I still can call and receive calls, also send SMS.
Note 3: Flashing again stock ROM or inserting the SIM card to another non Android based phone can read SIM contacts.
I would like not saving the contacts on the phone, nor in google's cloud, as sometimes I use the SIM card on other phones and I need to read the contacts lists.
Any ideas? It seems a ROM issue.
Thanks,

You can put sim in other Android phone, open dialer/contacts app and in its settings export. After that copy file to your phone and in same settings import.

You do not need an app. Go to Contacts on other phone, then tap menu button (left soft on Samsung Galaxy S Advance), there you have Import/Export. That is all you need. Export on other, import on yours. Just transfer file with BT or whatever.
Picture says 1000 words, and video says a lot more, so here you are what you can do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clZEjdX0li0

I could export the SIM contacts to an .VCF file from a borrowed Samsung Galaxy SIII (CM 10.2.0).
Later on I could import the .VCF file on my Galaxy S Advance, BUT only saving the contacts to the phone internal memory, not inside the SIM card memory.
I still cannot export, edit, view these contacts on the SIM. Any ideas? It seems a ROM issue.
Note 1: Also tried to export a contact saved on the phone memory to the SIM card. No succees.

CM11 based ROMs (4.4.4) are having problems with reading from SIM card as I rememer (for our device).
Go back to stock JB, transfer SIM contacts to phone, then export like I told you and then import to 4.4.4 ROM when you install it.

With your advice I could import the contacts to the local phone's memory. Thanks.
CM10, CM10.1, CM10.2 and CM11 are also having issues with reading the SIM contacts. (Flashed all them out and tried). There is any other available ROM out there working properly (stock ROM 4.12 JB works, but its very old.....)?
Thanks.
