security/spyware - G Tablet Themes and Apps

Do we need to load any antivirus/spyware on our tablets? Is it something that we need to worry about?

Depending on where you go to get your apps..
If you do a lot of side loading from shady places..then yes, I'd recomend it.
Lookout Security seems to be the best tablet compatible app I've used so far.

I use lookout on my tab. It is low resource and has good features. Scans an app that you install right away.

How to check how much memory is being used by current running programs.

Is there an application to see that?
Or is there a way to see that without using third party applications?
Thanks
super easy
All you do is go to settings/system/memory and there it is.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I know that feature. By doing that I only see a summary. I need to know how much memory is using each individual program.

[REQ]App Updater

I was wondering if there was an app that could update all your apps and install the updates automatically without having to go through them one by one. That gets really annoying.

The best I know of so far is aTrackDog. And it's really not so great. You have to manually check for updates and install them each individually.
I would love to hear anybody else's suggestions. This really does get annoying.

i read something that when the dev test a new app but is not ready to be released. it still shows up as an update. just look at it as it will soon come out. at least you know the dev is updating apps
what atrackdog does is take info from everyone who uses atrackdog. so if you see an update that isnt out yet, that means that the dev(s) of the program use atrackdog and its picking up the unreleased version they're working on. atrackdog is one of the best apps for ANY android phone.

Ok..the thing is that this thread is asking for an app that will automatically update all the apps so that you don't have to do it manually.
So I guess I am asking for an automatic app updater and installer...if that makes sense.

For the purpose of this thread, it doesn't meet what he's requesting. I'm not saying as an app it isn't good. I used to use it all the time. For what it does, it does it great. But for what he wants, it doesn't.
Ok, let me rephrase my previous statement.
The app you're looking for does not exist.
Ok then ^^
Would it be possible to make an app like that?
Bump. Please someone tell me if it's doable!

[Q] Batt App for 7

Can anyone recommend a good Batt App for 7? preferably something that shows a percentage.
the HTC battery tool is the only one available, obviously that is unsigned code so you will need your phone unlocked. MS hasnt provided APIs for accessing that information yet, perhaps in the future it will open it up a bit.
Is it free program?
aye its free, but your phone must be unlocked to use it, you wont find it on the market place, run a search on here to get find it

Plenty in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=606
its crap like this that prevented me from jumping on the wp7 bandwagon that i was so excited for.
battery, keyboards...just a lot of limitations on an OS that used to be (too) free to tinker around with, but this amount of control is overboard

Zedge

You guys seen their new website? Much, much better! I actually like how it looks now. Check it out.
For those who don't know, not that there's many who don't, it's a site where you can get ringtones/wallpapers/etc. for your phone 100% free, no catch, no bs.
www.zedge.com
Can you tell me what is the point of visiting their website? If I want to download a wallpaper or ringtone, I'll just use their app, why care about what their website looks like?
Because there might be people that rather have a bookmarked site over an app
What do you mean? I still don't see the point of bookmarking or visiting their site.

is easier if you install their App from Market
then you can pick sounds / wallpapers directly from it, and sets it into the system settings
Yeah for sure the app is a really handy one. Use it all the time when i get bored, and there are no new roms to try out.

Completely agree, thanks for the post. I would much rather use my laptop to find what I want to download before I spend 2 hours searching the mobile app for it. Not all of us have blazing fast 4g!
I had a look at their website, you guys are right. It is much easier to browse through the website, however one thing I find strange, how come on their website they don't separate ringtone from notification sound?

Exactly! In the time it takes to view 1 page of wallpapers on the app you can view 4 on the website.

I'd imagine because on most phones it doesnt matter. I remember back when I had my Moto E816 I could only use certain file types for a ringtone/notification/alarm/etc., now you can use pretty much whatever you want.
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
They should add a remote install feature to the website, obviously requiring you to have the Zedge app installed on your phone. That would make it really worthwhile using the site over the app.
I do agree that the site is better for browsing, but the app sets things for you. We want the best of both worlds.

You mean something like the Market where you pick something you want to d/l and instead of downloading on your pc it automatically d/l's to your phone? That would be sweet!

Yes mate - exactly that and yes, it would be awesome. Google would be doing a great thing if they included something like authenticated remote installation in the Android framework. That would get used so much!

[Q] Best way to create a bounty or ask a dev to help get an app working on lolipop?

Might sound silly but one of my favorite Android games (Jet Set Radio) was never updated to run on lollipop. Sega has instead just pulled the app from the market. The game starts to load but soon crashes. Without knowing anything about development i have a feeling the problem is probably not a serious one and a talented developer maybe able to get the .apk working again

sure, if Sega publicly puts up its source for the game. otherwise, no developer will ever touch it.

That. ^^^
Also, just don't. Don't start bounties, don't create pressure on a developer to do anything. If you want to see what is what, send them an email offering to pay them directly.
Also, if the program/game was popular and they pulled it, then it was probably more than trivial changes needed to make it work again.

Sega is just a terrible Mobile company. They recently pulled many titles some of which still work even without updates on lolipop.
I heard the Company as a whole is focusing more on mobile but with moves like this how? Unless they will rely on the strength of a few key titles (like SonicRush) and say screw the rest

Seems to be a little bit harsh. Not sure why you think that they would keep dumping resources into software that is EOL.

End of life? Some games they pulled were only released for mobile in the last 12-18 months. Unless this was a quick cash in deal on a few high profile games. Make a quick buck and than abandon the title when it comes time to needing an update

They pulled it from the app store for incompatibility issues. I followed a link saying "get it from play before it disappears" and I was able to install it.
