So i downloaded the minimal text "dirty" icon pack and am trying to change my launcher pro icons.
The problem is that the icons are black and my phone uses cyanogenmod 7's gallery app to sort through the icon files...so the picture/icon background in gallery is black..and the icons are black...leaving me with a black on black and no idea what they are.
How is everyone getting around this? is there a way to change the black background in cyanogenmod 7's gallery app?!
Try selecting the icons through astro file manager

Trying that i ran into another problem. When i select change icon>custom icon, the default application is gallery. I tried settings>applications>manage>restore defaults for launcher pro and it does not seem to reset what i choose the icons with. when i try to reset defaults in gallery the button is grey so it doesn't register.
Also i tried uninstalling Launcher Pro and re-installing it. No dice.

I just got my phone and im wondering how to change the icons. I changed the ones on my dock using LauncherPro, but is it possible to change ALL the icons at once? Including applications (Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Gtalk, etc.)
There are a few apps (you'll need to have your icons already). Desktop Visualizer is one that I know of.
I have the icons I want to use already and I also tried Desktop Visualizer, when I click to find the icons, it says nothing is found. But I can see all the icons in the gallery.
So, you click on DV from the app launcher then Select Icon > Image File and it does not immediately open your gallery?
Correct, it says icon pack not found. Is it possible to do ALL icons at once, or do you have to do them one by one?
How would I go on about taking the Icon package from MIUI theme, "Glowbusters" to use on ADW Ex? So that all the images would automatically change the actual app icon in the app-drawer? As well as giving apps without a dedicated image to have the same background+icon style as everything else?
I believe this is it: http://www.miui-dev.com/forums/show...Busters-5.0-TEAM-KOMMINATED-FIXED-TO-KICK-ASS
I'm aware it's for MIUI but all the icons are included in a folder within the archive, I was hoping to use it on Froyo+ADW Ex
Load the images into your gallery,
All the icons you want to change should be on one of your homescreens.
hold the icon you want to change until the mini popup menu comes up.
select edit and then press on the stock icon.
go to gallery and you should be able to select new icon.
I'm about 3 sheets to the wind right now so I really hope that is understandable
Yeah it's understandable, but what I mean is for the icons to automatically apply to the apps in the appdrawer not the icons on my homescreen. Then having it already applied in the appdrawer, if I were to bring those icons to my homescreen the icon would remain as well.
It sounds theme related where I would have to customize an adw-ex theme package or something
Ah, I see... you'd have to get someone to make an ADW theme as far as I believe. I was only on MIUI for about a day but I could've sworn that the icons changed in the drawer on adw... Are you using MIUI? If you still have the captivate, there is a port of it in the cappy forums
Ok, so I wanted a better email app than the stock MIUI one, and everyone keeps recommending K9 mail. Thing is, I hate the app icon for it. I worked out that I should be able to use Desktop Visualizer to create a shortcut on the desktop which points to K9, but uses another icon.
Thing is I can create a widget using DV (Long press on screen, select DVwidget etc), however I can't place widgets in the launcher bar. I tried opening the DV app and trying to create a shortcut that way, but when I hit 'Ok' to complete the operation, nothing happens. It just returns to the homescreen and no shortcut is created.
To further complicate things I have had this work once. It just randomly appeared on the desktop a few minutes after creating it, and I was able to move that into the launcher. Now I want to change the icon (again) but as you can see, I'm not having much luck.
Am I missing something here? I know MIUI doesn't have shortcuts on it's desktop, but if that was the case I don't see how I could have got it to work at all?
Any thoughts?

Yeah, i'm thinking how an app icon can invoke such a strong emotion as hate for it. Could we get a screenshot? Share the hate
I do agree that the icon is kinda ugly .
That is a terrible icon ...

What i would suggest (this is what i used to do while using MIUI), is to use an application called "App Drawer" meant specially for MIUI.

it is only as it states, an app drawer like all regular android phones.
This way you will have a dedicated app drawer & this will help in not cluttering up your home screens.
All icons on your home screen can be inserted into a single folder as these are the actual apps & not shortcuts.
Deleting would mean uninstalling.
so use the app drawer, send the shortcuts to your home screen & use any app for changing the icon like the ones inbuilt in ADW, Nova launchers.
...or you could just swap out the k9 icon for one you like. Use a theme (or make a blank one if you're fond of default) and theme the app name icon with a mail icon (or any icon) you think is nice
theme mtz - icons folder - use a .png and name it com.fsck.k9.apk
(if that doesn't work, the real app name is com.fsck.k9-1.apk)

Awesome siggy
Hi, just updated my paid for adw ex and, shock/horror, the ugly google search bar (which i never use) was back on on my desktop.
oh, i remember why i got adw launcher, just drag it to to bin.
er... its not moving, its not moving.
oh, wait a minute, whats the symbol on the end of the serach bar.
well, well, its adw settings.
i will try to recover the previous version of adw unless someone has an easy answer
(just checked on android market reviews and it seems i am not alone)
Isn't there the search widget and a option to for the resistant search bar, based on portrait/landscape?
It is called "Actionbar" and can be disabled.
ADW Settings -> "Screen setting" (or something similar, using it in German where it is called " Bildschirm-Einstellungen") -> Actionbar Design
OK, thanks chris_82. I am back on previous version now. There was also an ugly blue outline when changing screens and a thick white line on my clear dock icons. Also it was "slaggy"
I'll be steering clear of this for now

You can change all of these settings in the settings screen. On my installation adw launcher ex works really well and the new version is on of the smoothest launcher I have ever tried.

So is there a way to change the ugly blue outline added to the screen transitions? I've tried themes and none seem to change this. My phone is not blue and these transition outlines clash horribly.

just like this

Nova launcher.. "Nova settings -> look & feel -> icon style -> prefer legacy icons" option.
Nevermind "without any side app or launcher"... good luck with that!
On a Nokia AX1029 that had a downloaded theme called Gold, featuring a dragon with heavy icon frames, I just changed the launcher to ME launcher. Totally a lucky accident, but after phone turned off, frames came back with OS launcher, I changed the launcher back to ME and it worked! Dragon stayed, perfect result.
